Best guitar ever!? Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray BFR Silverburst RS
Got this beauty today. This is my first Music Man guitar and it surprised me so much I just had to make a video showcasing how damn good it sounds. Beyond excited to start using it for studio and live work.
Many of the playing clips in this video are sections from my band Near Blue's songs, you can check out our music and socials here: linktr.ee/nearblueofficial

The Future of Active Pickups is...Hand Wound!? Alegree Pickups Code Red & Code Clear vs EMG 81/60
Просмотров 774Год назад
The guys at Alegree reached out to ask if I'd like to try their new active pickups, which are also the very first of their kind - the world's first hand wound active pickups! Here I demo the pickups in a mix then provide a range of tones directly comparing them to an EMG 81/60 set. What did you make of this set? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. What a stunning song. Had some issues with my camera so had to settle for the phone camera on this one. Anyway, learned by ear so no tabs I'm afraid, but the tuning if you're using a 6 string is drop A# and it's a pretty simple one to learn. 'Only You Say It' - Guitar Cover [Lonely The Brave]

Wonderfully heartwarming new song from Lonely The Brave. Huge thanks to their guitarist Mark for taking the time to show me exactly how he plays it and letting me try out his touring guitars after their show in Cambridge last night. It's a pretty simple yet hugely fun track to play. I don't have any tabs but the verses are Fmaj7/C, Am, C/G and the chorus is pretty much just the C/G shape but on...
Homeblood - 'To Prosper In Downfall'

Here's the last record by my old band Homeblood. I tracked half the guitars and lots of the screaming vocal layers, engineered all vocals and guitar re-amping, and also co-mixed and mastered the record with Ben Sansom (ex-Lower Than Atlantis) at Sunnyhill Studios. Sharing it here because a huge amount of time went into making it, and whilst we're no longer a band it'd be a shame for it to never...
Darth Vader vs Order 66 Survivor (Star Wars fan film)

Been collecting lightsabers for years, so I grabbed my mate to come out in his full Darth Vader costume for a duel in the woods, plus another mate came along with his camera. We didn't intend to make a film out of it but when we were there we came up with a few plot shots which we did at the end that made this possible. Audio mixed and put together by me (didn't compose the music. Copyright rem...

Tune. Big tune. The whole album rips. Just go buy/stream it. I don't have any tabs as I've worked this out by ear, but it's pretty simple so just get yourself in the right tuning and you should be able to make it out by what I'm playing. Seymour Duncan Pegasus Sentient vs Gibson 490R 498T - Les Paul Custom Pickup Shoot Out!
Просмотров 31 тыс.3 года назад
Today we're pitting Seymour Duncan's excellent Pegasus Sentient set against the Gibson 490R 498T's in my 2020 Gibson Les Paul Custom. Having sat with the results for a few days I'd say the Duncans have a tighter low end, are more articulate for cleans, and have a snappier riffing sound whereas the Gibsons are beefier, a touch darker in comparison, and more hot-vintage sounding. Both are excelle...

An absolute banger from Normandie! The tuning I've used is Drop Bb, but I'm pretty sure there's a low A in the second chorus, so I've adapted the part slightly for those couple small bits (needed to be in Bb for the open strings in the verses, and this looks to be the tuning used from what I can see if them live and in the music video). The SD's are cool but the 498T and 490R sound better. Many guitarists assume that there is something better out there than the 498T and 490R but these pickups are hard to beat. The 498T is one of the greatest pickups of all time and so is the 490R....they compliment each other perfectly.

    Both sound great. Subjective. Suhr sounded more balanced in the bridge, less uppermidrange. That may make a JB stand out in a mix better though. Both great pickups.

      @charliecoe136 3 месяца назад

      In the years since this video - I've come to agree with you. I adore the Pegasus/Sentient and never find them lacking no matter what guitar they're put in, but Gibson really got those pickups right for this kind of application. Playing heavier music or downtuned however, duncans all the way

  • @emartinezr
    @emartinezr 3 месяца назад

    The Gibsons were better on the bridge. Seymours on the Neck. However, for the difference it makes... I don't think changing from Gibson pickups is worth the hassle, unless you specifically want active pickups or something very specific.

    Great video Charlie! The Tremonti pickups in your video sound WAY better than the JB/Jazz to me so that goes to show you how individual pickup preference is. Even clean, the Tremonti pickups (especially neck) seem to have great midrange punch and the JB/Jazz sound hollow and flat by comparison. Perhaps being in the room brings out that "sparkle" that you mentioned but the lack of midrange punch really kills the overall tone as far as I'm concerned. Gave me a better sense for the pickups, man. Thanks a lot.

    I prefer the 490r in this comparison, however I'm generally partial to Alnico V (specifically the Duncan '59). Also I don't like pickup covers. They dampen the tone to my ears.

  • @pepeowen

    They sound very close, I can’t hear a huge difference when using the same guitar and amp. So much so that I’ve decided to keep the SDs on my Cort for the time being. Maybe the hot rodded set is underrated.

    Gibson has more clarity in bridge distorted tones but not as tight. I think bare knuckle pickups would be focused and clear with the string to string separation they're known for.

    Put the 60's back in.... imo. Put in a better cap and pots and try different strings. I use Curt Mangans with my 60 strat pickups and they are an amazing combination. If you want to sound like a Humbucker buy a humbucker guitar first. IMO !!! But I have spent a fortune learning these things.

    490r permormed much better on most of sitiuations. But in real life Jazz Model has a lot of more sustain, the chords are deeper and you can also note a clear difference between the bridge 498t. 490r is better if you like the same tone in B and N, also if you dont use it for "epic neck solos". Personally, I world suggest Tone Rider Classic alnico IV.

    Cool video and thanks for showing the guitar! How's it going over the past months, did you replace the hum bucker with a single coil? I'm in the EBMM camp as well and own three Luke III models. I just ordered my third one last week (Luke III HH Ocean Sparkle - made in 2023, so it's probably the last one they produced cause they released the Luke 4 last summer!!) and I'm thinking about doing a review, too. These guitars are THE BEST I ever played. I even sold my Les Paul for my first Music Man and I would do it again!
