'Things Will Matter' - Guitar Cover [Lonely The Brave]

1 year ago one of the most wonderful people I’ve ever known passed away. My Grandma was like a second mum to me for many of my early years and anyone who met her always agreed that she was such an incredible woman. I was hugely surprised and extremely fortunate to have been left some money by her in her will, with which mid-last year I bought my Les Paul Custom. Although it’s not my main guitar it comes out for the special moments, the more reflective moments and sometimes it’s just nice to have around to ‘talk’ to when she’s no longer there at the end of the phone.
I’d wanted to and in fact, did write something original on it that I thought would be nice to post on the anniversary of her passing, but going to do so this evening it didn’t feel right, it felt too staged. So I thought there would be no song better to record in her memory than one that helped so much at the time. A song that has consistently hit me in the feels harder than any other song I’ve ever heard and one that more and more makes me think of her - Things Will Matter by Lonely The Brave.
It was hard to record, and it’s not perfect, but this wasn’t about getting the perfect take. I miss you so much Grandma, and you will always hold such a special place in my heart and playing x
