So many people would just keep it and never say a word while someone on the other end at the company could be losing their job for such a mistake. I’m guessing it got switched in the process of packing - a worker probably stuck the wrong label on a shipping box, and maybe someone else got your nephew’s Stupid Deal guitar. Glad your girl didn’t run away and get camera shy today. Guess she has good taste. When she hears a $7500 custom shop, she sticks around to have a look and listen! 😂😂😂 Also glad Tim got a chance to enjoy it before shipping it back. Btw, I agree that they should have immediately sent the other guitar Tim ordered, especially given their mistake and your extreme honesty to call about the error. I understand Sweetwater immediately ships replacement guitars when there is damage, errors, or the person just isn’t thrilled with it. They just ask for permission to charge your credit card if the instrument return isn’t sent back by a certain date. That’s the way it should be done, especially if the company made an error. No need to inconvenience anyone when they can charge for the instrument if it doesn’t show up. This way it gives people a couple of weeks grace period to send back the one that they aren’t keeping before getting charged (and I’m sure most people get it back on time). I only wish they had a way to arrange pickup from people’s homes with the shipping carrier when SW issues a return label. Some of these guitar boxes are quite awkward and heavy, making it difficult to get to a shipping point. That’s one thing I’d love to see improved from SW.
It was definitely a big error. It was fun to play it ( even though I don’t like jumbos). Bernice (my dog) was in a mood today. A bit hyper. So I was glad she settled down. She is tired of the respiratory illness. Lol. And I agree the store should not delay his guitar. But I quess that’s there policy. Thanks😄

It would be tempting to keep it. I bought a $60 item from Grizzly online and they sent me a $350 wooden tool box. I drove 1 1/12 hours to their store to return it ( hoping for some kind of reward or discount) and the employee was surprised I didnt keep it. Didn't even get a Thank-you. But I still shop there because I like their products. Even though I did the right thing, I sometimes wish I kept it. Love that sj200!!

Yes I agree. Setup is truly personal preference but this one could have used some adjustments out of the box. Based on the appearance of the inner box I don’t think it was cared for well in storage too.

The "Stupid Deal" company (I know them well, and just got one of their deals about a month ago - A Guild A-20 Marley Tribute) should give him the best deal ever on the guitar he did order. They should express ship it to him (or you, if he's not at home) for $0 nada cent for shipping or his guitar.
I wish you were in charge of decisions there. They are not doing that. But they did say they would put a few extras in the case. So maybe that will be a nice thank you for him 😀

It's quite disappointing that they waited to send his $600 instrument until they received the $7,500 guitar. You'd expect them to reward such honesty by at least promptly getting him his instrument. 🙄
Only way for musicians friend to recover from this is just send him the damn DJ-200 over again and tell him to keep it this time. That’s what sweet water would do, not that it would have ever happened with them. They’d send in the navy seals before letting that bad a customer experience happen.

OK, so they sent a $7000 guitar instead of the $700 guitar. Isn't that by it's very nature a stupid deal? Or an incredibly stupid deal? What if he sent back the case to lessen the blow? Put an Epiphone in it and that way both sides get a stupid deal. It's so hard to be honest when it comes to guitars. I'm glad nothing like this has ever happened to me. Thanks for the video.

Almost everyone who recieved a custom Gibson for a few hundred dollars would stay stumm and laugh in glee at their luck and someone elses misfortune. I would like to think that Tim would get a healthy discount on the guitar he actually purchased as a thank you but I doubt it. The chances of getting your dream guitar by mistake must be fairly low but I don't think Tim's the kind of man who would appreciate illgotten gains at someone elses expense.

Honestly, the guitar didn’t sound 7500. Lower bout way too big and a J-45 banner edition is a better guitar sonically and probably less money as well. Nice to be that honest though.
I kept thinking it was holding out in tone/ volume. But it was nice plugged in. I don’t like the feel of the action. But it wasn’t set up well. If I was shopping in a store and tried it out I would not have purchased it. But I think it’s appearance is stunning.
