Not everybody buys "budget" guitars on the premise that "I need to work everything". Not everybody can do it. Not everybody WANTS to do it. We "moders" on the other hand, LOVE to buy budget and build GREAT! When one comes that is beautiful and near perfect, that makes them an awesome deal! I always expect a basic basket case to mod, and have NEVER received a complpete basket case. Even when I buy name brands...they come apart to make them "mine".
Yeah for sure! But exactly my point... Those who want a budget guitar that they don't have to mod, are not gonna find anything stacked like this thing! Not here in Canada anyway!

@@j-man9457 David Gilmours black Strat is a Partscaster that he modded every thing on. He once said that yeah I can buy any guitar I want, but to make it mine I have to set it up to fit me. I always liked that about him. I haunted pawn shops since the 70s for bits. pots, push pulls, switches bridges even hard tail string through bodies and quartersawn necks.
They returned them because they are wannabes that bought a cheap guitar and when they attempted to play and didn't master it in the first 30 seconds and their tender fingers got sore they quit and said I can't do it. Happens all the time. They like the idea of being a musician or guitarist but they don't want to put the work in and/or have no natural abilities.
Yup it's quite possible... I run into that very same thing in my fitness classes. Everyone likes the idea of being fit, but when it comes to putting in the work, it's a different story hahaha...
Out of my 24 guitar's . I bought 10 of them from Amazon. 1 of which was returned for a exchange because of electrical problems . So even though you have a valid point . It's not the only reason 😎👍✌️

For some electrical issues or I level frets would be a deal breaker, but for me, I would fix it or address it and upgrade the electronics... But when I get a budget guitar like this one that needs nothing and is pretty much gig ready out of the box, I can't help but be 😁👍
@@j-man9457 The biggest reason, is that Amazon just allows easy returns, and they just try another one, exchanging them over and over. People do this with pedals too.
Hey man. I can honestly say, both West Creek guitars I got from you, the 333 and the LP Junior style, both play and feel great. The M Musi plays awesome, and I keep it next to my desk all the time. It has become my "goto" guitar to grab when I want to work something out etc... the only issue I had (and you know because I popped in to your gig one night to grab a string tree from you) was the lack of break angle on the B and E strings. I used the M Musi at a country rehearsal, tuned to standard 440, and had zero issues. It sounded and played great! But that weekend, I used it at a gig, where we played everything from country to SRV, and we tune a 1/2 step down. With that reduction in string tension, it made the difference, and the fact that I am always playing open strings, the E and B strings kept popping out on me. The string tree fixed it 100%. They should have one installed on all their guitars out of the box. But for the price and the quality you get, I will gladly install my own any day. I might have to chat with you on that white Tele style... I might have to grab that one too. lol. Cheers Buddy!
Loved that segment that you started playing at the start ... seemed like it was kind of bluesy ... old 50's rock ish .... and some mix of honky tonk ALL mixed in . Then you caught my attention again with the music of the boy from B.C. Now that sounded just like B himself .
J-MAN, good to see you again! @9:00 and on - whoa! You are sounding fabulous. I like that guitar, the headstock reminds me of if Fender and Parker had offspring. I still have my EART telecaster, it shares a lot of similar features. I replaced the repulsive green pickguard ( on a BLUE guitar) with a cream pearloid one. Probably keep it forever. Take care.

My guess is that the return didnt have anything to do with the actual guitar. Like they ordered a different color and got sent a white one so they returned it.
I really appreciate this video. I have never purchased an Amazon return but may try that now. I have always wanted a Tele with comfort carves and this will be my first. I watched your videos on the Musi’s with the vibrato arm. They seem very nice but the sound of this one with the single could is hard to beat. Thanks again.
Hey Thanks John? The Musis with the trem are the Virgo Fusions, more of a rock designed tele style whereas these are the Virgo Classics. A more traditional take but with modern features! I like them both hahaha!

If you can already play, you can make it work. If you're a beginner, the low end guitar is where you learn how to make it work. Some of the bargain guitars are pretty darn good. Some, like a 3/4 size bass I bought for $125 have fish hooks and razor blades for fret ends and rattle like a tin can with marbles in it.

Mine is a beautiful vintage blue. Though I bought mine new, my experience was similar to yours. I was especially impressed with the comfort carves. Also the vintage looking rope wrap around the bridge pickup. Very cool. The neck roast on mine is a bit darker than yours. The SS frets are perfect. Reasons why someone might return a beautiful guitar like this? 1- Thought the guitar could teach them how to play. 2- A "friend" sold them on the idea of a Fender. 3- The model name. I'm cool with Virgo (that's my horoscope sign). Virgo's symbol is the Virgin. Maybe this dude thought his pals in his band would tease him. Or worse, introduce him as "ladies and gentlemen, on guitar the virgin of the group..."😂

I ordered the blue musi tele over a year ago, put on new strings and set it up, however the bridge wasn't centered correctly. The high E was right at the end of the fret, while the Low E had lots of space on it. Also the pickups were somewhat microphonic on the one I got. Other than that it held tuning well and was beautiful and would have been my first steel fret guitar.

Sometimes when the strings are off like that, you just need to loosen the neck screws, apply some pressure to the neck towards the base string side and re-tighten the neck screws. Sometimes the neck just isn't lined up properly... But I have seen guitars with uncentered bridges as well just not as often as a slightly misaligned neck!
@@j-man9457 the neck pocket was nice and tight and the e string was closest to the edge there. I could have redone the bridge but not on a new one. Maybe I got a dud, because it was beautiful and I wanted to help it so bad hehe!. The frets and neck were perfect.

Maybe, just maybe, they didn't bond with the guitar. It just didn't "speak" to them. That's not to say the guitar isn't technically fine. It just left the previous owner wanting for something else.

When you click on a thumbnail of a guitar then the ad and info open up, sometimes if you're lucky you'll see written below the price listing something like “save with used like new“ and if you click on that link, it will give you an option to buy an open box/returned model. But those are not always in the inventory....
That first guitar the Musi Virgo looks gorgeous out of the box, the cheap alnico 5 neck pickup is excellent as is the Wilkinson bridge perfect guitar made to perfection by Cort, how much was it ? $600?
I have two M Musi Virgo Fusions. Fantastic guitars. I saw where Amazon may not carry them anymore so I bought the second one to have. A spare should something happen. I did a quick set up and floated the bridge on one and set the other as a hard tail. Love playing them.
I bought a MANNIX guitar which even my very musical neighbour couldn't get to tune so the company sent me another (keep the old one they said) the second one arrived broken in two snapped right at the neck/body so probably rough handling by couriers, I was told to keep both and got my money back! So I won't be buying any more of those again.

I bought their "333" in Pebble blue ( a Gibson 335 inPelham Blue knock off). It looks a lot like the Dave Grohl model, but imho, it's better looking (it even has F holes instead of that weird diamond thingy). Out of the box the neck was seriously back bowed, but everything else was great. A simple adjustment of the truss rod with the (included) hex key, and I was good to go. Disclaimer: I'm no expert, so my "good to go" might be dog poop to someone that knows anything about guitars, but at any rate, I have NO regrets about spending 200 bucks for it.
@@LuckyFlesh nice man! I bought the same one a while back... The Blue 333 and yes it rocks! Everyone sets them up differently to suit their playing style. That's why every and any guitar you buy, brand name or budget, will require some kind of set-up 😉
I bought an Amazon return Fender Precision bass. It was returned because the bridge was offset by 1/4" and it put the E string right on the fret edge of the neck. The neck was mounted straight to the body but the offset of the bridge made the bass unplayable. When you pressed the E string half way up the neck, the string would slide off. So it is not unique to low cost guitars.
Thanks Mr.T! I have the blonde , the black and now the white and all 3 have been extremely consistent as far as QC and fit and finish! I put in a set of custom wound pups similar to the Labria set from SD Brad Paisley... The were half the price of the guitar hahaha... I'll say this, these stock pickups are right there along with this custom set. The stock pickups are extremely responsive to different amps and amp settings... I haven't changed them in my others as I don't really know what would be much better🤔👍

When you find one look below the price listing for an option that says "Save with used like new" if that option is there you can click on it and buy a returned, open box guitar or item. You'll save money but be aware that Amazon's description of used like new isn't always accurate!

My Revenge is one of the best guitars I've ever had! The tuners suck, but I'm gonna put locking tuners on it. The pickups are good, but I'm gonna put some Seymour Duncans in it.
I found a lot of these cheaper guitars have a super thin neck and a wide radius I personally like a fatter neck. Other than that they seem to be good guitars with good specs
@@scottyoung3501 these are extremely close in rear neck profile to a modern Fender Telecaster. The compound 9.5 to 12 radius well, that's different for sure 😁
Only think I think I'd send it back for is the appearance of the headstock's front. I think in the flesh it would begin to fall out of favour with me after a while. The applied white lacquered section looks a bit cheapo. A more 'classic' all wood look and it's a fine thing for me. Sounds great and nice country chops, sir.
If those have the same ''rounded stainless steel frets'' and installed/leveled the same way as my Eart GW2 headless guitar, he probably returned it because the frets are wayyyyy too low profile. They level them with some sort of Plek machine, and they remove WAYYYY too much material. At least on mine, it's ridiculous and I regret not returning it. They look like they have been re-leveled 2-3 times already, straight from factory. The only reason why I don't use this guitar is because of that. Finger friction on the fretboard is a BIG issue with my guitar (especially for lead playing). Other than that, the guitar is PERFECT. Not talking about ''low action''... but ''low profile''. The action may be set SUPER low and it's totally fine, as long as the frets themselves are high enough to prevent finger friction. HARLEY BENTON Pro Series is my personnal choice for an affordable guitar, if you can find one used in Canada (like I did), or if you're willing to pay the duties.. they are still worth it even after that.

They are super glassy smooth on my Eart as well.. but they are flatten on top and way too low. Glad yours has plenty of meat! I should have returned mine.. 🤦🏻♂️
@@davidmultimedia2024 yeah I know what you meant... That sucks. Definitely sounds like they over leveled for sure... I had an EART NK-C1 tele a while back and the frets were not flat by any means, however I did need to do a fret level on it as there were quite a few high spots!
I couldn't get the action right with mine without buzz. Unless you have the action high enough it'll buzz. Didn't want to mess with the frets or take to a Luther. Great guitars other than that.
I have more than one of these and a few have needed a few frets fixed and sometimes a shim in the neck. These 2 things once dialed in allow for low action... I got annoyed with taking my guitars to a luthier as well so I just do it all myself now hahaha...
So unfortunately only 8 days since you posted this video, these M Musi guitars are listed as “currently unavailable” on Amazon. And it says that they are not sure when or if they’ll become available again. You’re a great guitar player, I subscribed immediately after you started playing and I heard that you can really play well. I had just watched a bunch of other RUclips demos of pedals by others where the playing was average so it was refreshing to find your channel. Returned because of the Headstock, it’s U.G.L.Y., you ain’t got no alibi, it’s ugly, it’s ugly. The body forearm contour cut should be more of a smooth contour instead of the pronounced shape with the line showing. It sounds good and seems to have quality parts, I think it was returned because of the cosmetic appearance. WDIK, I own a James Tyler with the funky headstock that some people can’t stand but some pay used $3000 up to $10,000 new for some models.
These are currently out of stock, but here in Canada they were 485 CAD on Amazon. I got it through the "buy used like new" option and got it for $300 to my door! 😀
Probably because the majority of purchases are from people who've never played so they bought what was cheap and found out that guitar playing wasn't for them so they return it for a refund within the return time limit, without even understanding you're not going to play perfect in 30 days that it takes a lifetime of dedication and practice....
Wow! That sucks! And that is a good reason to return a guitar. A twisted neck is a serious playability issue! Not the case with this one... The return had to have been for a financial reason or a wife reason lol 😆
This is weird. To know the reason why these two guitars were returned, you must track down the two persons (or maybe it was the same person) and ask them. You can unpack the guitars and banter on for weeks. But still, maybe it was just the finish color that did not match their socks. We. Do. Not. Know. Maybe they simply changed their mind, for whatever reason. It does not have to be the guitar. Again, we. Do. Not. Know. But I guess Amazon charges you less, this way. It's like a secondhand guitar, now. I wouldn't mind buying such a nice white Tele. That plug socket is easily fixed or replaced. Never heard about a double klick, thanks, learnt something today.
Exactly... I assumed that there would be an obvious problem or playability issue out of the box which would provide a possible reason for the return... However, with this guitar there was absolutely nothing wrong, so we do not know why someone returned it, but now we do know that it wasn't because the guitar wasn't good.... So the point is, when you see a used like new option on Amazon, it doesn't mean that item was returned because of a problem with it. Maybe there was just a problem with the buyer hahaha and now you can get a great deal!😉
@@j-man9457 Absolutely right. That white Tele is pretty okay. Sure you can upgrade certain gear. Great that it has no serious issues. Suppose it had some fret causing an intonation problem on that fret. Whoops. Such things happen, too.
J-Man, we're probably about the same age. After decades of teaching guitar in music stores, thousands of gigs, guitar shows, etc, etc, I can tell you that people return *GREAT* guitars for seriously dumb reasons. They often keep crap guitars for seriously dumb reasons. You will *never* discern the reason these people returned killer guitars. I know that I've profited greatly from buying great guitars that foolish people returned, passing the savings on to me! So what was the brand of that first guitar? I love cheap guitars. Like Jack Pearson and other pros, I've discovered the joys of cheap guitars that are *GREAT* I have several pro level playing instruments that were stupid cheap which others ditched.
Yup I talked about that at the end of part 2 of this series... This guitar is a M-Musi Virgo Classic T. I have 3 of them and they are all superb for their price point... Crazy that these can be spec-ed out how they are and still so inexpensive😃
I buy cheap guitars and when I set them up they often play as good as many expensive guitars. If you dont know how to do nut work. Truss rod adjustmentf,ret dressing, change electronics. buy a guitar from a music store.
Yeah I can see how that would turn someone off... Some Squires are very good but for me, I really like the full size pots, the blade switch, shielded cavities, roasted neck, contours, SS frets etc... all of which are not options on a Squire... Well not the ones here in PEI at our local stores anyway... I'm glad you found a guitar you vibe with... After all, that is what matters most 😉
Nothing at all wrong with Squier guitars, I own 3, from an Affinity, which I upgraded, to a beautiful tele custom which needed nothing. The Tornado was plagued with terrible pickups, it’s all better now. I didn’t pay much for the Squiers, all had decent bodies and necks, very impressed with them. Squier has got quite a following now, I was surprised at how many love them.
Hahaha yup! If it looks like a tele, feels like a tele and plays like a tele, in my book it is a tele! I could print a Tele sticker and slap it on a LP but the ink/sticker doesn't make it a tele hahahaha!
The 3rd string on my Dean acoustic sounds like a Sitar from fret 2 to about 8 unless plucked lightly...and it changes sometimes by the hour and sometimes goes away. I think it may be a loose brace. I was a singing drummer and a car accident damaged nerves in my arms and neck so I switched at age 35 in 2000 to be able to keep singing so I know nothing about guitars and I can only play well enough to back up my voice, so. I kept the guitar. I have no car and no place to take it to get this corrected. I ordered it.
Ahhh man sorry to hear this. I admire your courage to keep persuing music🤘😀 Not sure what the issue would be without looking at it. If the string is buzzing on those frets, the neck might simply be back bowed. Easily corrected by turning the truss rod counter clockwise. Or maybe that one string sits too low in the nut. 🤔 I don't think it's a bad brace as if so, you'd have more than one string affected...
The neck looks to be a little small for the pocket on the body (gapped). An American Pro Fender Tele is ~$2400 CAD (just bought one last week). I've had a Austin brand S.Korea made Tele for a long while and it was pretty great for the $200 I paid for it but it certainly does not feel or sound like the Fender tele. I could easily gig with my Austin (and a lot of guys that played it at jam sessions said it's awesome), but still, my US Tele is waaaay better in every way. I'm not the type of musician to buy instruments online to have them shipped without having my hands on it first. So I always buy locally after I've played it personally myself. It is cool to see at least something great for beginners to get for the price!
I like the looks of that guitar, including the headstock. I'm not a fan of white guitars, but it looks ok on that one. How much would they have paid for that guitar only to return it later?
I was looking for an electro acoustic and returned two big name guitars because they sounded rubbish the third one I tried was a no name that sounded fine and a keeper. Dont buy the name buy the one thats sounds best. The worst one was a Yamaha .

Great post and playing. Check out the Fireflys at Guitars Garden and buy new even cheaper. Possibly they tried it out and it just wasn't for them....or like others said they saw it reviewed and thought they would magically sound like the reviewer without actually having the skill. I picked up a Firefly strat on sale with a flamed Canada roasted maple neck, locking tuners, bone nut, rosewood fretboard, stainless steel ball end frets, Alnico V pickups and a korean made bridge for $169 plus $27 shipping. The finish is flawless and it didn't need a setup. Sometimes you get a lemon, but lately these Chinese knock offs have been great. I'm not a professional musician or a gear snob so I can't justify paying up to 10 times more for a guitar that isn't 10 times better just because of the name or where it was made. If the big names want my business they need to stop their ridiculous price gouging. I know they can't compete with the lower labor costs and possibly the materials cost the Chinese have, but they could do much better on their prices if not for greed. When the Chinese step up their quality control the big names will really be in a bind.
Of course. It's an M-musi Virgo classic as stated in the video. M-Musi makes them. I done advertise, sell or make money from links on videos. Just love talking guitars and I'm super impressed with this Brand! I own 4 of them!
It is the same with PC parts, people buying them are cluless and don't know how to adjust themn. It is much the same with PC parts. A long time ago I sold some laptop memory there, some cough bought my laptop memory without asking any questions then it is my fault that they did not realise it was not suitable for their desktop PC, they tried every excuse they could think of to blame me and get a return. When they did, I reported the originally working item as returned damaged
Yeah... That's all I can think of too... There's absolutely nothing wrong with this guitar inside or outside haha, so the return had to be just a personal reason and not a guitar related one! 🤔
When looking for my first electric, I think I noodled on 13 different entry level strats at GC on 3 or 4 visits - and I hated the neck shape on all of them. (For bass, I prefer wide and flat - so old Peaveys and Yamahas.) So, it could be as simple as that. Dunno.
Yup when the guitar itself has no major quality control issues or 0 playability issues, then yeah the reasons for a return are impossible to determine...🤔

There are different grades of stainless steel, just as there is for nickel-silver, and some nickel-silver is better than some stainless steel frets, or so they say - not pretending to be an expert myself. I've always wanted a tele with strat contours, that appears to be an excellent guitar to upgrade? Thanks man!
Well man all I know from filing a few frets, is these frets are hard! So not sure what the grade would be... Also, on these guitars, there is really nothing to upgrade... Seriously, it's crazy!!!
I returned an Epi 339 w/P90's once, because I thought it sounded horrible, and i just did not like it. I also returned a Gibson Melody Maker reissue when they first came out. It had this white chalky substance in the hideous looking fret board that was a reddish brown, nothing like the example pictured from that grand daddy of all guitar stores. Was not actual picture. Any others I returned had either a crack somewhere, or a twisted neck, one even had the neck completely separated from the body. One had a crack visible under the cherry red finish, only visible in sunlight. And then, you have shipping damage. You think this is a long rant.
When I bought it it said used like new below the listing, plus the old shipping label and the name of the original buyer was still on the box hahaha ....

We will probably never know why people returned these guitars. Probably these guitars are not suitable for musicians and for music. These guitars are good for athletes who run their fingers across the fretboard making random notes. Imagine some maestro choosing a violin. Do you think he will run across the fretboard like a crazy horse? That's all.

Secondly, it is still worth thinking about the meaning of the information being transmitted. We all understood that these guitars were returned. But why they were returned, we still do not know. And of course, then it is logical to show some meanings. Precisely meanings, and not playing on a guitar that does not break anything. But there are questions. Do these guitars sound good with a clean sound, through a powerful tube amplifier? Do these guitars have natural wood sustain, again, it is desirable to hear with a clean sound. Do these guitars hold the tuning well. What is the scale length of these guitars and are there enough neck adjustments.....well, and many other questions that would be of interest to potential owners of such guitars. @@abzstr yup you are confused because you have not followed me before. I reviewed my first Musi tele 2 years ago almost. Unbelievable value for the price... I bought this on as a return wondering why it was returned... And we will never really know the answer. I was expecting to find a flaw, a construction fault, a defect, a playability issue, but this guitar was almost perfect out of the box.... So the reason had to be something other than the guitar. For under 500$ there is nothing out there in a T-Style that comes close! Cheers!

Click on that and you'll get an option to buy a return open box of whatever you're looking at... However Amazon's description of used like new is not always accurate just FYI! Good luck!
I don't buy expensive guitars any more. Been playing for over 60 years. I mod a lot, and can achieve a high standard from a "budget guitar" for much less than the stupid prices people pay for imaginary tone wood etc. If you set a Squier up just the same as a custom shop Fender, replacing the bad bits, logically it will play just as well, there is NO magic. The difference is in the set up. Pickups are personal preference, not "good and bad" I still pay good money for acoustics, coz it has to sound good on it's own, but a solid electric is not worth the money.
What does it weigh? On the Chinese guitars, they are often quite heavy on average. I've returned a strat at 10.5 lbs and a tele at 9.8. These weren't low end Chinese guitars, either. Some people love heavy guitars. But you simply can't get weight information on these instruments. I buy them, open the box, throw them on the scale and send it back the same day unplayed if it's over 8lbs. No sense setting the play, tuning it, even checking the frets if I am certain it won't work long term.

Not everybody buys "budget" guitars on the premise that "I need to work everything". Not everybody can do it. Not everybody WANTS to do it. We "moders" on the other hand, LOVE to buy budget and build GREAT! When one comes that is beautiful and near perfect, that makes them an awesome deal! I always expect a basic basket case to mod, and have NEVER received a complpete basket case. Even when I buy name brands...they come apart to make them "mine".

@@j-man9457 David Gilmours black Strat is a Partscaster that he modded every thing on. He once said that yeah I can buy any guitar I want, but to make it mine I have to set it up to fit me. I always liked that about him. I haunted pawn shops since the 70s for bits. pots, push pulls, switches bridges even hard tail string through bodies and quartersawn necks.
They returned them because they are wannabes that bought a cheap guitar and when they attempted to play and didn't master it in the first 30 seconds and their tender fingers got sore they quit and said I can't do it. Happens all the time. They like the idea of being a musician or guitarist but they don't want to put the work in and/or have no natural abilities.
Yup it's quite possible... I run into that very same thing in my fitness classes. Everyone likes the idea of being fit, but when it comes to putting in the work, it's a different story hahaha...
Out of my 24 guitar's . I bought 10 of them from Amazon. 1 of which was returned for a exchange because of electrical problems . So even though you have a valid point . It's not the only reason 😎👍✌️

Hey man. I can honestly say, both West Creek guitars I got from you, the 333 and the LP Junior style, both play and feel great. The M Musi plays awesome, and I keep it next to my desk all the time. It has become my "goto" guitar to grab when I want to work something out etc... the only issue I had (and you know because I popped in to your gig one night to grab a string tree from you) was the lack of break angle on the B and E strings. I used the M Musi at a country rehearsal, tuned to standard 440, and had zero issues. It sounded and played great! But that weekend, I used it at a gig, where we played everything from country to SRV, and we tune a 1/2 step down. With that reduction in string tension, it made the difference, and the fact that I am always playing open strings, the E and B strings kept popping out on me. The string tree fixed it 100%. They should have one installed on all their guitars out of the box. But for the price and the quality you get, I will gladly install my own any day. I might have to chat with you on that white Tele style... I might have to grab that one too. lol. Cheers Buddy!

60 cycle hum isn’t caused by the speaker, it’s causaed by noise in the environment from flourescents, bad grounding, etc. I think the Musi is great.

Hey Thanks John? The Musis with the trem are the Virgo Fusions, more of a rock designed tele style whereas these are the Virgo Classics. A more traditional take but with modern features!

If you can already play, you can make it work. If you're a beginner, the low end guitar is where you learn how to make it work. Some of the bargain guitars are pretty darn good. Some, like a 3/4 size bass I bought for $125 have fish hooks and razor blades for fret ends and rattle like a tin can with marbles in it.

Mine is a beautiful vintage blue. Though I bought mine new, my experience was similar to yours. I was especially impressed with the comfort carves. Also the vintage looking rope wrap around the bridge pickup. Very cool. The neck roast on mine is a bit darker than yours. The SS frets are perfect.
Reasons why someone might return a beautiful guitar like this? 1- Thought the guitar could teach them how to play. 2- A "friend" sold them on the idea of a Fender. 3- The model name. I'm cool with Virgo (that's my horoscope sign). Virgo's symbol is the Virgin. Maybe this dude thought his pals in his band would tease him. Or worse, introduce him as "ladies and gentlemen, on guitar the virgin of the group..."😂

I ordered the blue musi tele over a year ago, put on new strings and set it up, however the bridge wasn't centered correctly. The high E was right at the end of the fret, while the Low E had lots of space on it. Also the pickups were somewhat microphonic on the one I got. Other than that it held tuning well and was beautiful and would have been my first steel fret guitar.
@@johnmason7425interesting. Sometimes when the strings are off like that, you just need to loosen the neck screws, apply some pressure to the neck towards the base string side and re-tighten the neck screws. Sometimes the neck just isn't lined up properly... But I have seen guitars with uncentered bridges as well just not as often as a slightly misaligned neck!
@@j-man9457 the neck pocket was nice and tight and the e string was closest to the edge there. I could have redone the bridge but not on a new one. Maybe I got a dud, because it was beautiful and I wanted to help it so bad hehe!. The frets and neck were perfect.

Maybe, just maybe, they didn't bond with the guitar. It just didn't "speak" to them. That's not to say the guitar isn't technically fine. It just left the previous owner wanting for something else.

But those are not always in the inventory....

I have two M Musi Virgo Fusions. Fantastic guitars. I saw where Amazon may not carry them anymore so I bought the second one to have. A spare should something happen. I did a quick set up and floated the bridge on one and set the other as a hard tail. Love playing them.

I bought a MANNIX guitar which even my very musical neighbour couldn't get to tune so the company sent me another (keep the old one they said) the second one arrived broken in two snapped right at the neck/body so probably rough handling by couriers, I was told to keep both and got my money back! So I won't be buying any more of those again.

I bought their "333" in Pebble blue ( a Gibson 335 inPelham Blue knock off). It looks a lot like the Dave Grohl model, but imho, it's better looking (it even has F holes instead of that weird diamond thingy).
Out of the box the neck was seriously back bowed, but everything else was great. A simple adjustment of the truss rod with the (included) hex key, and I was good to go.
Disclaimer: I'm no expert, so my "good to go" might be dog poop to someone that knows anything about guitars, but at any rate, I have NO regrets about spending 200 bucks for it.

I bought the same one a while back... The Blue 333 and yes it rocks! Everyone sets them up differently to suit their playing style. That's why every and any guitar you buy, brand name or budget, will require some kind of set-up 😉

I bought an Amazon return Fender Precision bass. It was returned because the bridge was offset by 1/4" and it put the E string right on the fret edge of the neck. The neck was mounted straight to the body but the offset of the bridge made the bass unplayable. When you pressed the E string half way up the neck, the string would slide off. So it is not unique to low cost guitars.

This Musi has perfectly dialed in alignment so definitely not the reason for the return...

I have the blonde , the black and now the white and all 3 have been extremely consistent as far as QC and fit and finish!
I put in a set of custom wound pups similar to the Labria set from SD Brad Paisley... The were half the price of the guitar hahaha... I'll say this, these stock pickups are right there along with this custom set. The stock pickups are extremely responsive to different amps and amp settings... I haven't changed them in my others as I don't really know what would be much better🤔👍

My Revenge is one of the best guitars I've ever had! The tuners suck, but I'm gonna put locking tuners on it. The pickups are good, but I'm gonna put some Seymour Duncans in it.

I found a lot of these cheaper guitars have a super thin neck and a wide radius I personally like a fatter neck. Other than that they seem to be good guitars with good specs
@@scottyoung3501 these are extremely close in rear neck profile to a modern Fender Telecaster. The compound 9.5 to 12 radius well, that's different for sure 😁
Only think I think I'd send it back for is the appearance of the headstock's front. I think in the flesh it would begin to fall out of favour with me after a while. The applied white lacquered section looks a bit cheapo. A more 'classic' all wood look and it's a fine thing for me. Sounds great and nice country chops, sir.

If those have the same ''rounded stainless steel frets'' and installed/leveled the same way as my Eart GW2 headless guitar, he probably returned it because the frets are wayyyyy too low profile. They level them with some sort of Plek machine, and they remove WAYYYY too much material. At least on mine, it's ridiculous and I regret not returning it. They look like they have been re-leveled 2-3 times already, straight from factory. The only reason why I don't use this guitar is because of that. Finger friction on the fretboard is a BIG issue with my guitar (especially for lead playing). Other than that, the guitar is PERFECT. Not talking about ''low action''... but ''low profile''. The action may be set SUPER low and it's totally fine, as long as the frets themselves are high enough to prevent finger friction.
HARLEY BENTON Pro Series is my personnal choice for an affordable guitar, if you can find one used in Canada (like I did), or if you're willing to pay the duties.. they are still worth it even after that.

Just to be clear, i was talking about "finger" friction on the fretboard, and not "string" friction or the fret. They are super glassy smooth on my Eart as well.. but they are flatten on top and way too low. Glad yours has plenty of meat! I should have returned mine.. 🤦🏻♂️
@@davidmultimedia2024 yeah I know what you meant... That sucks. Definitely sounds like they over leveled for sure... I had an EART NK-C1 tele a while back and the frets were not flat by any means, however I did need to do a fret level on it as there were quite a few high spots!
Doesn't mean the frets were over levelled, some fretwire is 1mm high or just under new.

I couldn't get the action right with mine without buzz. Unless you have the action high enough it'll buzz. Didn't want to mess with the frets or take to a Luther. Great guitars other than that.
I have more than one of these and a few have needed a few frets fixed and sometimes a shim in the neck. These 2 things once dialed in allow for low action... I got annoyed with taking my guitars to a luthier as well so I just do it all myself now hahaha...
I find that it's pretty common for people to play a cheaper guitar fast, like in this video. To me the cheaper guitars sound tinny, like a toy guitar.

And it says that they are not sure when or if they’ll become available again. You’re a great guitar player, I subscribed immediately after you started playing and I heard that you can really play well. I had just watched a bunch of other RUclips demos of pedals by others where the playing was average so it was refreshing to find your channel. Returned because of the Headstock, it’s U.G.L.Y., you ain’t got no alibi, it’s ugly, it’s ugly. The body forearm contour cut should be more of a smooth contour instead of the pronounced shape with the line showing. It sounds good and seems to have quality parts, I think it was returned because of the cosmetic appearance. WDIK, I own a James Tyler with the funky headstock that some people can’t stand but some pay used $3000 up to $10,000 new for some models.

Probably because the majority of purchases are from people who've never played so they bought what was cheap and found out that guitar playing wasn't for them so they return it for a refund within the return time limit, without even understanding you're not going to play perfect in 30 days that it takes a lifetime of dedication and practice....

This is weird. To know the reason why these two guitars were returned, you must track down the two persons (or maybe it was the same person) and ask them. You can unpack the guitars and banter on for weeks. But still, maybe it was just the finish color that did not match their socks. We. Do. Not. Know. Maybe they simply changed their mind, for whatever reason. It does not have to be the guitar. Again, we. Do. Not. Know.
But I guess Amazon charges you less, this way. It's like a secondhand guitar, now. I wouldn't mind buying such a nice white Tele. That plug socket is easily fixed or replaced. Never heard about a double klick, thanks, learnt something today.

However, with this guitar there was absolutely nothing wrong, so we do not know why someone returned it, but now we do know that it wasn't because the guitar wasn't good.... So the point is, when you see a used like new option on Amazon, it doesn't mean that item was returned because of a problem with it. @@j-man9457 Absolutely right. That white Tele is pretty okay. Sure you can upgrade certain gear. Great that it has no serious issues. Suppose it had some fret causing an intonation problem on that fret. Whoops. Such things happen, too.
J-Man, we're probably about the same age. After decades of teaching guitar in music stores, thousands of gigs, guitar shows, etc, etc, I can tell you that people return *GREAT* guitars for seriously dumb reasons. They often keep crap guitars for seriously dumb reasons. You will *never* discern the reason these people returned killer guitars. I know that I've profited greatly from buying great guitars that foolish people returned, passing the savings on to me!
So what was the brand of that first guitar? I love cheap guitars. Like Jack Pearson and other pros, I've discovered the joys of cheap guitars that are *GREAT* I have several pro level playing instruments that were stupid cheap which others ditched.
Yup I talked about that at the end of part 2 of this series... This guitar is a M-Musi Virgo Classic T. I have 3 of them and they are all superb for their price point... Crazy that these can be spec-ed out how they are and still so inexpensive😃

Look for Used like new or open box guitar... It's just luck and now they are out of stock on Amazon.ca
For the price, Musi Teles are premium guitars. They have the upgrades that most people like to do to their guitars.

I can hear the E and B choking on heavy bends near the nut, A fraction of relief would cure that.
Yup it needed a set up but, most of the bad bends is just my playing hahaha!

I buy cheap guitars and when I set them up they often play as good as many expensive guitars. If you dont know how to do nut work. Truss rod adjustmentf,ret dressing, change electronics. buy a guitar from a music store.

Yeah I can see how that would turn someone off... Some Squires are very good but for me, I really like the full size pots, the blade switch, shielded cavities, roasted neck, contours, SS frets etc... all of which are not options on a Squire... Well not the ones here in PEI at our local stores anyway...

Nothing at all wrong with Squier guitars, I own 3, from an Affinity, which I upgraded, to a beautiful tele custom which needed nothing. The Tornado was plagued with terrible pickups, it’s all better now. I didn’t pay much for the Squiers, all had decent bodies and necks, very impressed with them. Squier has got quite a following now, I was surprised at how many love them.
right but at the price of a squier you could get a musli and it's already gig worthy out of the box after tuning it up.

Hahaha yup! If it looks like a tele, feels like a tele and plays like a tele, in my book it is a tele! I could print a Tele sticker and slap it on a LP but the ink/sticker doesn't make it a tele hahahaha!
The 3rd string on my Dean acoustic sounds like a Sitar from fret 2 to about 8 unless plucked lightly...and it changes sometimes by the hour and sometimes goes away. I think it may be a loose brace. I was a singing drummer and a car accident damaged nerves in my arms and neck so I switched at age 35 in 2000 to be able to keep singing so I know nothing about guitars and I can only play well enough to back up my voice, so. I kept the guitar. I have no car and no place to take it to get this corrected. I ordered it.

Not sure what the issue would be without looking at it. If the string is buzzing on those frets, the neck might simply be back bowed. Easily corrected by turning the truss rod counter clockwise. Or maybe that one string sits too low in the nut. 🤔 I don't think it's a bad brace as if so, you'd have more than one string affected...
The neck looks to be a little small for the pocket on the body (gapped). An American Pro Fender Tele is ~$2400 CAD (just bought one last week). I've had a Austin brand S.Korea made Tele for a long while and it was pretty great for the $200 I paid for it but it certainly does not feel or sound like the Fender tele. I could easily gig with my Austin (and a lot of guys that played it at jam sessions said it's awesome), but still, my US Tele is waaaay better in every way.
I'm not the type of musician to buy instruments online to have them shipped without having my hands on it first. So I always buy locally after I've played it personally myself.
It is cool to see at least something great for beginners to get for the price!
At $2400 Canadian it should be great lol! I'll year this one apart in the next video to see if there's is any construction woes!
I like the looks of that guitar, including the headstock. I'm not a fan of white guitars, but it looks ok on that one. How much would they have paid for that guitar only to return it later?

I was looking for an electro acoustic and returned two big name guitars because they sounded rubbish the third one I tried was a no name that sounded fine and a keeper. Dont buy the name buy the one thats sounds best. The worst one was a Yamaha .

Great post and playing. Check out the Fireflys at Guitars Garden and buy new even cheaper. Possibly they tried it out and it just wasn't for them....or like others said they saw it reviewed and thought they would magically sound like the reviewer without actually having the skill. I picked up a Firefly strat on sale with a flamed Canada roasted maple neck, locking tuners, bone nut, rosewood fretboard, stainless steel ball end frets, Alnico V pickups and a korean made bridge for $169 plus $27 shipping. The finish is flawless and it didn't need a setup. Sometimes you get a lemon, but lately these Chinese knock offs have been great. I'm not a professional musician or a gear snob so I can't justify paying up to 10 times more for a guitar that isn't 10 times better just because of the name or where it was made. If the big names want my business they need to stop their ridiculous price gouging. I know they can't compete with the lower labor costs and possibly the materials cost the Chinese have, but they could do much better on their prices if not for greed. When the Chinese step up their quality control the big names will really be in a bind.

It is the same with PC parts, people buying them are cluless and don't know how to adjust themn. It is much the same with PC parts. A long time ago I sold some laptop memory there, some cough bought my laptop memory without asking any questions then it is my fault that they did not realise it was not suitable for their desktop PC, they tried every excuse they could think of to blame me and get a return. When they did, I reported the originally working item as returned damaged

When looking for my first electric, I think I noodled on 13 different entry level strats at GC on 3 or 4 visits - and I hated the neck shape on all of them. (For bass, I prefer wide and flat - so old Peaveys and Yamahas.) So, it could be as simple as that. Dunno.
Yup when the guitar itself has no major quality control issues or 0 playability issues, then yeah the reasons for a return are impossible to determine...🤔
I also own a low cost telly and put Toneriders Vintage plus Pus and looks , feels and sound Fantastic, Youre playing also is excellent far better than other youtubers wich I call tem simple ESCALES MAKERS like the "famous " J Bonamassa . Greetings from CHILE

There are different grades of stainless steel, just as there is for nickel-silver, and some nickel-silver is better than some stainless steel frets, or so they say - not pretending to be an expert myself. I've always wanted a tele with strat contours, that appears to be an excellent guitar to upgrade? Thanks man!
Well man all I know from filing a few frets, is these frets are hard! So not sure what the grade would be... Also, on these guitars, there is really nothing to upgrade... Seriously, it's crazy!!!
I returned an Epi 339 w/P90's once, because I thought it sounded horrible, and i just did not like it. I also returned a Gibson Melody Maker reissue when they first came out. It had this white chalky substance in the hideous looking fret board that was a reddish brown, nothing like the example pictured from that grand daddy of all guitar stores. Was not actual picture. Any others I returned had either a crack somewhere, or a twisted neck, one even had the neck completely separated from the body. One had a crack visible under the cherry red finish, only visible in sunlight. And then, you have shipping damage. You think this is a long rant.
Nah... Love it. I reviewed a melody maker a while back and it felt like a plywood guitar! Hated it!

We will probably never know why people returned these guitars. Probably these guitars are not suitable for musicians and for music. These guitars are good for athletes who run their fingers across the fretboard making random notes. Imagine some maestro choosing a violin. Do you think he will run across the fretboard like a crazy horse? That's all.

Secondly, it is still worth thinking about the meaning of the information being transmitted. We all understood that these guitars were returned. But why they were returned, we still do not know. And of course, then it is logical to show some meanings. Precisely meanings, and not playing on a guitar that does not break anything. But there are questions. Do these guitars sound good with a clean sound, through a powerful tube amplifier? Do these guitars have natural wood sustain, again, it is desirable to hear with a clean sound. Do these guitars hold the tuning well. What is the scale length of these guitars and are there enough neck adjustments.....well, and many other questions that would be of interest to potential owners of such guitars. It is desirable to accompany such a video with a beautiful, slow melody and the sound of the guitar revealing the potential inherent in them........simple.
@@abzstr yup you are confused because you have not followed me before. I reviewed my first Musi tele 2 years ago almost. Unbelievable value for the price... I bought this on as a return wondering why it was returned... And we will never really know the answer. I was expecting to find a flaw, a construction fault, a defect, a playability issue, but this guitar was almost perfect out of the box.... So the reason had to be something other than the guitar. For under 500$ there is nothing out there in a T-Style that comes close!

Yup just using a cheap amp through a small speaker cab but these stock pickups are really good!

It's just timing man... So when you're looking at a guitar or an item on Amazon, just scroll down just below the price and sometimes you'll see an option that says :"save with used like new". Click on that and you'll get an option to buy a return open box of whatever you're looking at... However Amazon's description of used like new is not always accurate just FYI!

I don't buy expensive guitars any more. Been playing for over 60 years. I mod a lot, and can achieve a high standard from a "budget guitar" for much less than the stupid prices people pay for imaginary tone wood etc. If you set a Squier up just the same as a custom shop Fender, replacing the bad bits, logically it will play just as well, there is NO magic. The difference is in the set up. Pickups are personal preference, not "good and bad"
I still pay good money for acoustics, coz it has to sound good on it's own, but a solid electric is not worth the money.

What does it weigh? On the Chinese guitars, they are often quite heavy on average. I've returned a strat at 10.5 lbs and a tele at 9.8. These weren't low end Chinese guitars, either. Some people love heavy guitars. But you simply can't get weight information on these instruments. I buy them, open the box, throw them on the scale and send it back the same day unplayed if it's over 8lbs. No sense setting the play, tuning it, even checking the frets if I am certain it won't work long term.
I have 3 of these and they are all under 7.6lbs.
Perfect for me. Not too light and not too heavy😄
