I appreciate your reviews of these Musi guitars. When I first found out about them, your reviews were some of the only ones I could find. I was really impressed with the specs for the price, so I ordered a Capricorn Classic HSS in Cuban Sunburst from Amazon. It was one of the last ones they had in stock a couple months ago. When it arrived, I did a thorough inspection. The body and neck looked and felt great, the frets were great, and it was setup to play very well. It had the same full-size pots you see on these guitars, but the tone pots were a little scratchy and had an odd taper. And I had to realign them. But even if I had to replace the electronics, I still would have kept it since the bones were great and I enjoy tinkering with guitars. However, there was one deal-breaker for me: the weight. It was almost 9 lbs - a whole 1 lb more than my Fender Mexican Strat. After playing for a couple hours, my neck and shoulder were sore. I hated to send back an otherwise great guitar, but I did. I play 3 services at church on Sunday mornings, so I knew the weight was going to be important. The thing that made it all work out is that there's a store called Specialty Traders that gets a lot of the returned Musi guitars and sells them discounted. Not only that, but they list pictures and the weight of the actual guitar for sale. They had a Capricorn Classic SSS in Cuban Sunburst that was a little under 8 lbs, and I snatched it when they dropped the price to ~$220. This turned out to be an amazing bargain. The SSS is even better than the HSS was - no scratchy pots, and even nicer looking neck and body. I put a Dimarzio Tone Zone S rail humbucker in the bridge and copper shielding tape on the pickguard. I'm very happy with it. Anyway, thanks for your reviews! Perhaps my story would explain one reason someone might return a Musi, although weight didn't seem like an issue with the one you got.

Thanks for the video. Great guitar review, tear down and adjustments. I'm just a mid-week blues jammer. All I want is a good sounding guitar that says in-tune for at-least 3 songs and doesn't cut my fingers. I don't mind what the label is on the headstock. I know a pro musician that sometimes jams with a Hello Kitty guitar (he says the crowd loves to see him play it), but he's blowing away people with $1,000+ guitars. Also, I tell those getting started to have a budget to lean towards a better amp, then the guitar.
You take a pretty BIG chance buying a return from Amazon. Necks could be broken, etc. Oh, and return sellers lie about the condition of the goods so they can sell them. That Musi was worth the shot! Hot pickin', btw!
As long as there is a free return for true damaged guitars go for it. I recently got a very nice Fender Sonora parlor size I really it and the deal. A minor finish problem on the top but it just needed the action tweaked and the seller threw in a nice gig bag the Fender “dust cover” was also there.

Just as likely that some RUclipsr bought it to make a vid and returned it. Still, that is an amazing quality instrument for the $$$. No matter which guitar you have a decent amplifier is a must if you want good tone, I used to have friends who bought decent guitars and rubbish amps and then asked me why it didn't sound good, I would rather have a cheap guitar and a good amp than vice versa.
I bought from Amazon a Donner Strat. $371 after taxes in Canada. Came with an amp. Sounds better than my Fender. And lighter also. I don’t play my Fender anymore.

I have reviewed quite a few T-style guitars from 200$ to $600 in the last 2 years, and I haven't see anything yet that can compete with these Musis for the price! Cheers, J-Man
A LOT of products are sold as returns that are new. Maybe you don't understand that marketing concept but it's true. It's actually like putting it on sale without hurting your normal price. Companies do it all the time. They're still making money, or at least getting rid of inventory they need to get off the books.
@@joeking433 yeah could be, but this box had been opened before and the bag that the guitar is wrapped in was torn. Also the plastic was still on the pick guard but there were scratches all over it. Your too kind DL☺️
Those comfort cuts are awesome. My 50s doesn’t have that. Nice catch on that jack. I bet that is why it was returned.
@@Bbba724 quite possibly🤔
Thanks for the video. Great guitar review, tear down and adjustments. I'm just a mid-week blues jammer. All I want is a good sounding guitar that says in-tune for at-least 3 songs and doesn't cut my fingers. I don't mind what the label is on the headstock. I know a pro musician that sometimes jams with a Hello Kitty guitar (he says the crowd loves to see him play it), but he's blowing away people with $1,000+ guitars. Also, I tell those getting started to have a budget to lean towards a better amp, then the guitar.
Awesome man! Yup I like gear and money in my bank account. These guitars give me both hahaha!
You take a pretty BIG chance buying a return from Amazon. Necks could be broken, etc. Oh, and return sellers lie about the condition of the goods so they can sell them. That Musi was worth the shot! Hot pickin', btw!
Thanks buddy... Yeah, that returned IVY PRS style I reviewed a while back was banged up pretty badly! Definitely a game of straws for sure!
As long as there is a free return for true damaged guitars go for it. I recently got a very nice Fender Sonora parlor size I really it and the deal. A minor finish problem on the top but it just needed the action tweaked and the seller threw in a nice gig bag the Fender “dust cover” was also there.
@@flouisbailey sweet man! Rock on!
Lots of companies send you new stuff when you buy returns. They still make money. It's happened to me countless times.
@@calbrockocat8728 If Ama-Zon look for free return. Yes, a crap shoot but I got lucky and they used a new acoustic gig bag as packing, you never know. Not a mark on it until my dog knocked it over. First scratch is the worst.

Ahhhh thanks man! But my wife will tell you no, no you couldn't! Not all day! Maybe 15 minutes, but not all day hahahaha!

Cool man! Congrats on the collection and yes I hear the fesleys are hit or miss🤔
I wish you would have played it plugged in again after bending the jack contacts. Great video.
I thought of it but the video was too long and the jack fix makes no difference in the tone. It's just way more stable now when a patch cord is plugged in!

I learned so much from watching you fix guitars. If only some of your guitar playing would rub off on me.😊
Hahaha. Thanks Mitch! Much appreciated! As far as my playing, aim higher lol😄
Can you do a video on how to buy these returned guitars? Are you getting discounts as used/returned or are you just buying items that amazon says are high return items and paying full price for them?
Appreciate the videos. I have a good time upgrading crappy cheap guitars and it's become a hobby unto itself.
Thanks!
Cool man, it's a hobby for me too. Amazon.ca is out of stock at the moment😕
It's just a luck thing, sometimes if you type open box guitar, some stuff comes up or when they do have stock, and you click on a link, below the listing you'll sometimes see a used like new option. Just as likely that some RUclipsr bought it to make a vid and returned it. Still, that is an amazing quality instrument for the $$$.
I started playing in the early 1980's and the budget guitars from that era sucked. I went to the local GC and the number of sub $300 axes on the wall that were amazingly playable was astounding. It is a great time to pick up the guitar!

No matter which guitar you have a decent amplifier is a must if you want good tone, I used to have friends who bought decent guitars and rubbish amps and then asked me why it didn't sound good, I would rather have a cheap guitar and a good amp than vice versa.
Yup Agreed. I use Quilter amps to play live and they are fantastic and trouble free! 😄

F25 -5 but wonder who made it... and the streight edge tool for measurning the neck... thanks... as soon as I can find one I'll be getting one... I always have to keep my eye on my guitars when you take them out... so Im looking for a budget guitar. and if it is as nice as you show on the video... this is the one... and how do you find returned guitars on amazon.... thanks
Hey Fred! Thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated.
I'll do my best to help! So M-Musi has ceased production due to a move to a bigger more state of the art facility is what I've heard. They should resume production later this summer with new models added to their line up as well... Time will tell I guess, but unfortunately, because of this there is currently no stock available through Amazon...
For polishing, I use the Musicnomad fret shields which I got here:
MusicNomad Fret Shield™ - Total Fretboard Protector Guard Tool for Fret Polishing on 24.75" Guitar Fret Scales - not recommended for Gibson (MN804) a.co/d/06OFnMvp
And the straight edge is the a musicnomad tri-beam tool which I got here:
MusicNomad Tri-Beam 3 'n 1 Dual... www.amazon.ca/dp/B0BXFTBLW6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
These M-Musi guitars in my opinion are fantastic. They don't really need upgrading!
They are 1/3rd the price of any F brand with similar features. Crazy good! I have reviewed quite a few T-style guitars from 200$ to $600 in the last 2 years, and I haven't see anything yet that can compete with these Musis for the price!
