- When the @SpringfieldArmoryInc Hellcat wast first introduced, I gave it an honest try and I really tried to like it. But it just wasn't for me. That original Hellcat was sent to the channel by Springfield for review. I guess @SpringfieldArmoryInc did not like my honest review because they have never returned a call from me since.
Fast forward to the introduction of the Hellcat Pro. I was very interested in trying it having a slim-line size and 15 round capacity.
I handled them at @RangeUSAOfficial , my local gun shop but was not impressed (again) with the trigger. Then @apextactical came out with their trigger for the Hellcat Pro. Now I was interested. So I contacted @apextactical , they agreed to send me their trigger kit and extended mag release for the Hellcat Pro and I went out and purchase a Hellcat Pro for this review with the intention of making this my new daily carry gun. So, is the Hellcat Pro my new carry gun? Let's take a look...
Thank you for stopping by and God Bless.

You are spot on about the way the HC Pro feels in the hand when shooting. I thought it was just me, as I have large hands. Then I thought I needed to do a trigger guard undercut on my HC Pro to fix that weird and almost perfect... but not quite comfortable... experience when shooting.
I installed some Talon Pro grips, and this definitely helped. But it didn’t quite resolve that issue.
The Talon Pro grips did reveal something interesting, however. After running about 500 rounds through the HC Pro with the new grips, the grips began to show wear and tear, which is what they’re supposed to do. But it’s WHERE they show the most wear and tear that confirms what you’ve nailed in this video. The right side and right-rear side of the grip are heavily worn.
Very, very interesting. I so wanted to like this handgun. I really did. Thank you very much for sharing your experience.
I bought a Hellcat Pro and I love it. I don't know what you're talking about. It feels comfortable to me. It's crisp and clean it's got good features The only part that I will agree with you on is I don't like the rear sight either, but other than that I found the gun completely enjoyable to shoot and I just put a Holosun red dot on it and can't wait to get it sighted in
It’s all personal preference right? Thank you very much for stopping by.
Thanks for giving your honest opinion. It is getting harder to find honest people willing to say what their actual opinion is on a firearm. So many gun channels on RUclips are just mouth pieces that post advertisements for companies.
Thank you very much for your kind words. I used to have good communication with Springfield until they saw my review of the original Hellcat. I guess they didn’t like my honest opinion because they have not communicated with me since my first negative review of the original Hellcat. And that is fine. God bless.
I love the Springfield U-Notch sights. I pick them up quicker than any other stock sights. The Hellcat Pro beats the G48 in all categories for me.
That’s why this is all subjective. The best one is the one that works for each one of us. Thank you very much for watching. I really appreciate it.
I am kinda a bigger guy with larger hands. I do not have any issues with the Hellcats. The Hellcats and the Mossberg pistols are my number one recommendations for smaller pistols. I do not care for the little 365, and I didn’t really like the 365 XL to each their own. That is what makes America Great again! 🤠👮🏻♂️👍🇺🇸😉🙀👻🤔👏. B9USA Sr. Stay Safe!!
Indeed my friend. Thank you for watching!
I owned one of the original hellcats. I guess I never enjoyed shooting it either. I never really shot it very well and I also thought it was snappy. It ultimately got traded or sold to fund my next gun. I agree with your opinion. Thanks for the review.
I appreciate you taking the time to comment and watch. Thank you.
I sold the original hellcat back to the gun store I worked at at the time for just the same reason to help pay for a pro once they got them in. It's a much smoother gun to shoot
Your not wrong. The hellcat is a super snappy gun.
Thank you for stopping by!
I do agree 100% about the recoil and I love Springfield. If the the two edges of the backstrap had a much bigger radius then it wouldn't sting like it does now when shooting. My P365X and other guns the same size have less felt recoil and also have a bigger radius along those 2 edges.
A very good observation. Thank you very much for sharing it with us and for taking the time to watch. I appreciate it!
I’m waiting for you to get your hands on the Masada slim. Looks like a promising pistol like the full size. None of the LGS gotten them yet but have one on order.
Yea, I’m on the hunt for one! Thank you for watching!
I can relate. I love my Staccato, but every now & then the thumb safety pinches my hand, ruining the shooting experience. Ergonomics can be tricky things.
They can be indeed. Thank you for watching.
Think I like my 365xl more, but the way it feels and shoots I can't complain. Can shoot steel plates all day long at 17yards with the hellcat pro
And this is called an honest and true review. Thanks. When You put Review about sig x macro?
Thank you very much. I appreciate that! I’m trying to get my hands on the XMacro.
I own and shoot the Hellcat Pro very well… I think anyone should expect these “micros” to be a bit snappy, don’t think they are designed to be your favorite range gun but to conceal with minimal printing… very accurate at 5-7 even 10 yards
My opinion of course
I agree with you. But within the “micros“ this one and the original Hellcat are the snappiest of the bunch - for me. Thank you very much for stopping by.
This is the first video I’ve seen that shares my opinion on the Hellcat pro. Still a hellcat, still snappy. The square grip definitely creates hotspots for recoil when shooting too. Felt like I was shooting a 40 compared to my 365xl or G43x lol. I guess I’m just not a hellcat guy. Thanks for running an honest channel. RUclips could use more of this and less commercials
Thank you very much. I appreciate your kind words.
I sold mine, couldn't stand how snappy it was. I figured with the longer grip and barrel, and larger size overall (vs something like a P365 or Shield Plus) that it would be less snappy but it was MORE!
@@SliderFury1 Yeah, kind of doesn’t make sense.
I agree with everything you brought up. I have not been a Hellcat fan. Great review!!
Thank you for watching! I really appreciate your comment and for you to stop by.
I'm a usual voice on Utube and I see channels advertising products in place of monetizen from Utube. I understand the situation, if it's a good product no harm done , but when manufacturers can't take criticism of their products I personally will research the products and the good and bad be spoken, and I appreciate you Sir and your channel standing firm ! 🇺🇸💪👏
@Wayne Castleman Thank you very much sir. I appreciate your kind words.
Thanks for the review. I have no experience with this pistol, but It seems that Springfield Armory may have sacrificed ergonomics for greater capacity. If I were not comfortable with that, I also would not carry it.
Well said. I saw always, thank you for stopping by.
@@MDpolo My pleasure. Thanks again.
1300 feet per minute?? or seconds...
@2:15ish
Yea. I misspoke. Per second.
I have a few Springfields and I really wanted to like this one. So my experience is a little different. I feel the recoil in my trigger finger. It feels like it snaps back against my finger. It hurts to shoot after 30 rounds. Is anyone else feeling the kickback at the trigger? I have big hands and don't feel it at the grip. Maybe the grip design is felt back on my trigger finger. Going to head back to the range and see. Thinking of using a pencil to pull the trigger and see if the snap back breaks the pencil. It feels like that much kickback.
I have several Springfields as well which I like very much. It is just the Hellcat family that is just not for me. I think they are very well-built and aesthetically pleasing. It is the shooting experience that I don’t like. Please let me know what the result of your experiment is. I’m curious. Thank you very much for stopping by.
If you want to get rid of some of the shot's volume, you can single out a shot via freeware audacity and it finds all and takes that signature out or reduces them. You can also automate that and it's usable for every range video. Your voice will be louder and the shots muffled.
I shot an H11, that should be the Hellcat across the pond before rebranding. It worked well for me but I have no comparison in that frame. I've got small palms but long fingers. You got meatier ones. Imo, I'd never buy any handgun where the grip has to be completed by the mag. I'd grip that like crazy and pinch skin to a purple pulp under stress.
I had the same square experience with a sig p320 compact on the top end of the backstrap.
I really appreciate all that information. Thank you very much!
The Glock would never have made it to my rotation to begin with. To each their own but I hate shooting Glocks. From the grip angle to the way they feel in the hand. I love the Hellcat pro and I haven't had any issues with the flat back. Micro or subcompacts are snappy and expected. I like the Hellcat pro even better than the Sig 365xl I was ready to buy. Again just shows you have to try each gun for yourself. Not every gun will suit everyone.
You’re absolutely right. It is all personal preference. Thank you very much for your comment and for stopping by.
Does this trigger fix the hang up the original trigger came with
I believe that was an issue with the Hellcat, not the Hellcat Pro.
@chrisallen3741 I never had that issue with any of the Hellcat factory triggers. I heard about it and I saw a few videos on that “issue“ but like I said mine were perfect. The Apex has worked flawlessly as well.
Exact same experience i got when i shot all the micros, i wanted to get the hellcat that day but after shooting alll the micro 9's it recoiled the worst and I think its something with medium hand sizes, it hits us right in the same spot. It literally feels like a cannon in your hand and I've shot alot of guns being military police and thats the worst recoil feeling for any handgun. Mind you i have never shot 45 acp but i would imagine it to be the same lol..
Thank you very much for sharing your opinion. I appreciate you stopping by.
The Walther PPK/S has a very square (and steel) grip back, and would cause injury after 50 rounds. That pistol is gone.
Yes, I owned a pistol that you mention and share your experience. Thank you very much for stopping by!
I don’t feel any recoil. Maybe because I’m not weak like others.
That must be it. Thank you for watching!
I must be getting old the only gun I enjoy shooting now a days is my Taurus tx22....just saying
No sound. Can't hear you
Thank you. I’ll go back and check it.
I would like to try the Apex trigger though
The Apex trigger made a world of difference. At least for me.
I owned one of the original hellcats. I guess I never enjoyed shooting it either. I never really shot it very well and I also thought it was snappy. It ultimately got traded or sold to fund my next gun. I agree with your opinion. Thanks for the review.
