Massad's voice sounds like he should be singing for the Oak Ridge Boys.
He probably smells like an ashtray.

Years of chain-smoking will do that to you.
Been reading Massad's articles for forty years. He is the standard.
Yes I remember reading his articles from back in the early eighties.he gives excellent real world, practical advice.
Agree. I met him in the Fall of 2016 when he interviewed me for an article he was writing for American Handgunner.
He really is. He's the guy Hickok45 listens to when he wants to learn something.
He is pretty consistent...
Agreed.
Even Chuck Norris recommends listening to Mas.
A lot of logic and wisdom here.
...5...4...3...2...1... Half the gun community will discount this and do what they’re going to do.......
Absolutely! I’ve been following Mas since the late ‘80s.
There are many outstanding trainers, but none that go into the legal aspects of self defense like he does.

Yes, I know right?
He's just such an all around *brilliant* man while having that down to earth, make you comfortable, genuine, never arrogant, just that really kind way that he has.
This might sound silly but, if I'm feeling stressed or anxious.. I'll watch a Massad Ayoob video and it just calms me right down! 🧘♀️
Take care -
Your right the comment section is full of wise people
Massad Ayoob is so amazing at explaining and expressing concepts in easy to understand ways. Einstein once said “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough”. Ayoob, is the Einstein of self-defense.
I would love to take a class by him.
Totally worth the time and money! We did the MAG 40. Best time and money spent
You are officially an Ayoobian
When Massad speaks, everybody listens (at least they should).
Doesn't mean we understand him. What's he saying aroun 14:30 ? I'm trying to find the case but the name is unclear. I get that it probably isn't important to read and will only reinforce his statement of not painting skills on firearms. But I want to read it.

Mas speaks with the calm authority of someone who has spent decades honing his opinions. The interviewer deserves some respect for being gracious enough to allow Mas to hold the stage. Good team work, guys. I could see countless additional videos of Mas offering real world gems of advice.
Except the man in the red shirt can’t be more wrong. There is a reason “you have a right to remain silent” is in place.

Massad’s voice is a defensive weapon in and of itself!!!
MAS: "I wrote an article for Combat Handguns magazine back in the 80's where I interviewed..." ME: "Holy crap, I remember reading that back when it first came out!" Damn, I feel old...
The old age bus comes outta nowhere...
Dale, I am RIGHT there with you, man. Read all of Mas' stuff.
You too, huh?
😆Right?? Lol Mas has literally helped shape now 2 generations of responsible gun carriers. Conversely, when I hear someone rant about “Mas is full of bs...” that pretty much tells me all I need to know about *their* opinion... 🤣

"Most of you listening to this [have probably been lulled into a deep sleep]"
joking aside, a lot of good info. Massad is a real deal OG.
His voice is so deep!
This came up at my trial after an on duty shooting. The prosecutor alleged that I was a "loose cannon" who modified my glock trigger so I could shoot faster. Thankfully I still had the factory box that has the label showing I bought it from glock with a 4.5 lb pull. Same prosecutor alleged I was militant because I wore a BDU style uniform instead of class C's. Of course it didn't matter that I was a K9 handler and constantly running after the dog and suspects shredded my class C's. Liberals will say or do anything to make you look bad. Thankfully I was acquitted and returned to duty but later left law enforcement after the bitter taste wouldn't wash out.
I know this is an old comment of yours but I wanted to add some thoughts. I am skeptical of prosecutes in general so often they are either elected officials or their boss is. Guilty verdicts are how they keep score and a high score looks good come election time. Next as you experienced are the complete firearms idiots typified by the two dolts in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial, I dont give a damn how many people certified that AR was not loaded still do not point a gun at anyone with your finger on the trigger.
I know of no better system than a trial but a trial is not to me a search for truth and or justice. It is a contest between lawyers of who can evoke the strongest emotions in a jury. Facts and common sense be dammed. Example is you wearing BDUs.
Things like the BDUs can be explained but a misleading idea could be planted in the jurors minds.
@@glennrishton5679 yes, sadly most of the time they don't look at people as PEOPLE only wins and losses

He does some excellent videos on the Wilson Combat channel.
@@glennrishton5679 Yes he does but I wish he would get out from under Bill Wilson. Wilson cannot build affordable 1911s and he degraded it with 9mm.
@@slypperyfox I dont mind that Wilson 1911s are more than I'm willing to pay. I dont see that as a fault. To me he builds a 1911 where the other manufacturers such as the ones I have make 1911s. Craftsmanship vs production.
I agree with you on the 9mm. I did get a Wilson Sig P320 and love it. Was shooting it today in fact.
Dude.... best.... video.... YET! No John I’m being serious, this video just changed my ENTIRE outlook on triggers. I’m making sure all my triggers break at 4lbs AT LEAST from now on. Never once has it been how “smooth” the trigger was... it’s always been how “light” the trigger was.... words of wisdom. PLEASE John, more videos like this with legal experts! Keep killin’ it!! Mas is amazing!

Thank you, John
@Green Giant Hahaha very funny.
This is the first time I’ve heard Mr Ayoob raise his voice
I feel like if he were to raise his voice in anger I'd feel very scared
When i see people with the punisher skull on their pistol... 🤦♂️
Yeah not the pistol but the holster if you’re into it !
Seems like something the Yankee Marshal would do!😏
What about "Smile and wait for the flash" on the fore end of your rifle? I've seen that.

@@garynelson9538 LOL. :-)
Good advise. I need to see my carry gun not just through my eyes, but also through the potential eyes of 12 jurors selected specifically for their inexperience with guns.
This has solidified that I should just train more with my stock trigger. Thanks to you both!
Mas needs to be a voice over actor he is the morgan freeman of the gun world
John, you’ve been killing it with the content lately ! Keep it up brother
Thank you John for this great data and knowledge. His actual court room experience is good as gold.
I read this man's books in the 1980's and he was my fave instructor-from-afar. I'm so glad to see him as wise and articulate as ever, and now I know he also has the "voice of power". This man is sharp and experienced, so listen up.
Could listen to this guy all day. Great cast. Carries a Berretta. Nice.
Mr. Ayoob pretty much confirmed everything I've been telling students for years. One thing I also tell them is to ditch things like stickers or signs that have "cute" little quotes on them. I tell them to picture the jury as though they're a bunch of rabid anti-gunners, and it was their kid you shot. Cause the last thing you need is the DA showing them pictures of you wearing a shirt that says "When In Doubt, Shoot Em Again".
@@papimaximus95 you really don't understand that there are civil and criminal proceedings. The standard of proof in a civil proceeding is lower than criminal court and you can get hammered for negligence. If they can paint you out to be some "badass" who can't wait to shoot someone and runs around with t-shirts and decals advertising as such, then good luck taking your chances with your assets on the line. Ayoob is giving solid advice. It also goes to state of mind even in a criminal case if lawyers want to paint you as someone who can't wait to shoot someone to argue your use of force was not lawful.
@Papi Maximus it’s about the perception the jurors have of you and not the technicality of the law as written. People can be emotionally manipulated with a narrative, and that’s what this is all about. It shouldn’t affect the trial facts and whatnot, but it does to a degree.
Stickers, shirts, online posts. Unless you are comfortable with it being shown in a court room don't put it out there.
Tangentially related, enjoy this clip from John Mulaney on your past coming back to haunt you in court. ruclips.net/video/JkSQk88e4DM/видео.html The part in question only goes to 1:42 but it is certainly entertaining.
@@papimaximus95 Its not about the justification of the use of force, its about the jury's perception of you. You cant live in some fantasy world where the only thing that matters is right and wrong. Thats not the world we live in. How the jury perceives you is 100% the difference between life in jail and free on the streets.
@@papimaximus95 just admit you're wrong
Massad Ayoob has been one of my practical shooting heroes for quite a while. ASP Rocks for bringing him on.
Always good content when Mas is speaking. I view him as the ultimate firearm Guru.
I love that this is clearly filmed in a church. Fantastic sermon. Mas is a legend. John is a future legend.
My 7 pound MP Shield trigger was unusable. I put a 4 pound Apex on it. Now i can shoot it more accurately. THE END.
Absolutely unusable I dumped mine for a Taurus much much better
I find the 6 lb trigger on my Walther PPS to be just fine. I havent shot a shield 9mm in quite some time but I dont remember the factory trigger being that bad. I definitely agree with Mas that it's the smoothness, not the weight that makes a good trigger.
I did exactly that with my Shield. My G19 has a 4.5# Ghost connector. My EDC is a P365 with a stock trigger. Trigger pull is between 4.5 and 5 lbs and all 3 are smooth with similar trigger pulls. Consistency within established limits is my goal.
Man y'all are spoiled. Revolvers run 13 pounds on double action and they shoot just fine.
You missed the point.....not THE END of the story as seen by a jury.....YOU MODIDIFIED IT TO AN UNSAFE LEVEL ( they will say....and be hard to defend to a "non-gun" group of people)
Mr Ayoob is the gold standard in these things. Listen , heed.
What a fantastic interview! Mass explains it so very well. Thanks John and Mass!
Love hearing from Massad. Thank you for making this video.
I had heard that rumor about Ayoob and the modified trigger thing (as well as the hand loaded ammo thing) decades ago. Glad to have it clarified - much appreciated.
Good info John, thank you both for the interview.
My personal favorite authority. I love his old videos from the 80s. Great interview.

Great info. Thanks to you both for sharing this with your followers.
Massad is the real deal. Always enjoy listening and learning from him.
It's refreshing to hear a voice of both experience and knowledge.
This channel is under appreciated given the consistent string of top experts providing on point advice and demonstrations.
My glock 19x is stock except I did install the OverWatch precision trigger flat face that is and the trigger pull weight is 4.5 lb. Is that acceptable?
I could listen to Massad all day long. Such a wealth of knowledge.
Excellent segment, thanks to you both! 🤠
I love Massad. Everytime I listen to him I learn something new. I love how he gives legal arguments like he is in the court room. My question or statement is a standard Glock advertised trigger is 5.5lbs which in reality when tested is about 6.5lbs. I have a 4.5lbs drop in trigger bar and a titanium safety plunger which does not affect the trigger pull weight but the smoothness of the trigger pull. I believe my personal gun pulls at least 5lbs or just above which nearly everyone out there would still consider safe. My point I am making is that the advertised trigger weight is normally is little lighter than the actual pull weight since gun mfr's do not want to be sued. In my personal opinion if your actual trigger pull weight is within 1/2lbs of advertised trigger weight then you should be fine. Just make sure to follow common gun safety rules including don't place your finger inside the trigger guard unless you are going to shoot. Also make sure to get several days worth of extra training including things like deesculation, medical, force on force with evidence of course completion. I personally was surprised when doing force on force and shoot/don't shoot exercises how easily it was just to react and shoot without thinking when already stressed when someone unexpectedly jumps out of a doorway less than arms length in front of you waving their arms screaming for help. How you think you would act and how you actually act are not the same.
Don't modify the Glock trigger, even if they are Glock factory parts from another gun. Reference court case SANTIBANES VS. TOMBALL(HOUSTON), 2006.

Excellent presentation John. Keep up the good work.
Great!!! Knowledge is power. Thank you for sharing that!!!!!
This man is my hero, thank you!
All of my carry Glocks have modified triggers using Glock parts. My answer to an attorney would be, "So I can shoot more accurately without endangering innocent bystanders".
To play devil's advocate, your defense attorney would in all likelihood strongly advise you against testifying, so you won't get to give that testimony. You're probably better off with genuine OEM Glock parts though.
@@payleryder45 You are correct, just because one comes up with a "CUTE ANSWER" one are not going to rule the situation. Cute remarks make the witenss or accused appear ARROGANT, they are looking for ARROGANT. BB
"So Mr. D, it is your testament that you modify your guns to make it easier to shoot people, is that correct? On an average day, how many times do you think about needing to shoot people? Do you have plans or contingencies developed in your mind for these shootings you plan? Ladies and Gentleman of the jury, this man is clearly actively looking for any situation that might possibly justify his murderous blood lust. What might set him off next time?"
Whenever you get the idea that you are more clever than the attorney who is trying to throw you in jail for the rest of your life, remember, you only have to make one mistake, say one wrong thing, or have one thing you said twisted into something else, and you lose. It doesnt matter if he loses, only if you do.
as always a wealth of knowledge Massad!

Cool. I also carry the Elite LTT as my chosen EDC. Good to know Mas carries it as well :)
NOt so fast, LOL. He likely changes carry guns as often as undergarments. Part of doing research and staying relevant.
This is an excellent subject . I'm going to contact Berretta to find out if putting a " D " spring in my 92FS drops it below the manu minimum specs . Thanks guys !
On mine it only eased it up very slightly nothing to brag about. It certainly won`t be considered a trigger job on a 92FS.
Also the conversion of the safety to de-cocker only “G.”
Be careful with the D spring. I ended up having a serious problem with light strikes. I completely bombed a competitive shooting match as a result.
The amount of reduced trigger weight is minor. I wouldn't be concerned at all about deviating too far from the original specs.
Thank you for sharing your insights.
Also, don't use a "Shake Weight." They will say you made your hands stronger so the trigger will be lighter. It might go off in your hand! :)
The smiley face isnt enough for alot yo know this is a joke. God help them😂
