Why is everyone acting like you need a mechanical engineering degree to do this? The whole gun is made up of like 25-30 pieces. With a little practice, and like 2 tools, you can do this in like 10 minutes or less. The only reason this video is 19 minutes long is because he is talking you through it while making sure everything is in camera. Have confidence in yourselves people.
Yeah I know right LOL. It honestly took me 45 minutes while watching the Apex Trigger kit install to install mine but when it was all done and over with, since I pretty much had everything memorized after doing it one time, I knew it was something I could get done in under 10 minutes if I did it again. It may seem complicated at first, but once you done it once, you realize it's pretty straightforward and there's really not much to memorize.

The first time I saw the video, I thought no way I could ever install this kit on my Hellcat. After watching the video a few times, it gave me confidence to install it myself so I bought the kit and was able to successfully install it in 45 minutes. There is no way I could have installed the kit without the video. I like my Hellcat even more now. Thanks for the excellent instructions.
I have completed the install of the awesome trigger from PRP in my Hellcat. It took me a while because I took my time and did everything that was explained in the video. There were a few things I needed help with and I got help from the folks at PRP . Powder River Precision is one of the finest group of people I have ever had to deal with. I will continue to upgrade other pistols and PRP will be my primary source for sure. I felt great after two hundred rounds through the Hellcat today. Awesome 👍
Old video but I just did this and I must say, bravo. This is the hardest trigger swap I've ever done. My hc pro is new, tight, and the trigger was somehow worse than OEM Glock. Now my trigger is like smooth freshly windexed glass. This is what I needed, to warrant keeping my hellcat and not trading it for a SIG. Thank you guys.
@@j8nkies20 keeping all the parts together while installing was kind of a booger, but I'm a caveman with big hands. Smaller, more dextrous hands should have easy work with this swap. I'm just a knuckle draggin gun guy, if I can do it, you can too. You got this 🤗

And I didn't even realize I destroyed the center circle (3 inch circle) of the target. I'm impressed. They were impressed. Best modification I've ever done to ANY gun. Don't hesitate bro, get it and get after it.
I have installed 2 of your triggers on my XDM 5.25 .45 cal and have used your videos to walk me through the install. The finished product produced a consistent 2.0 Lbs pull. It is by far the best trigger I have ever come across.Your videos are the most complete and easy to understand I have found. My next purchase is going to be the Hellcat OSP, and your upgrade trigger, however this time I’ll have you do the install.
Just finished installing. Took one hour and was fairly simple thanks to this video. Trigger is MUCH better. Ignore all the comments of people saying this looks super difficult. If you are patient and can follow instructions well, you can do this (provided you have the correct tools).
Like others, I wasn’t so sure that I wanted to try this either. But, with a bit of extra time and, Daniel’s expert instructions, the install went pretty smoothly. Great feel to the pull now. Thanks PRP!!
My son just changed the trigger in the Hellcat by watching your video over and over step by step but you made it easier than what is was but after changing it wasn't that bad it was worth it Thank's to your video help a lot Thanks
Good video, it's very obvious you're knowledgeable with this firearm. I have a better chance of rebuilding the engine of a Dodge Hellcat before I reproduce what you did in this video😂😂😂
Funny, I'm the direct opposite. I have an affinity for working with small parts and I'm knowledgeable in firearms, but I dont have a CLUE about anything on a engine except where to put the oil, windshield washer fluid, and how to change out a battery lol.
Don't let any of these installations intimidate you, there are only 6 small pieces to fit together, and most of them go together. The slide is very easy. The kit comes with two sear springs and I went with the blue sear spring, and installed the rest of the PRP kit. Took about 40 minutes, but I am quite slow. Quite an easy job when you're not installing parts backwards like me.

Wow, I really appreciate how simple it is to work on a Glock now. I didn't realize other striker fired hand guns were so much more difficult. Great video!
The issue isn’t that it’s too complicated as with any mechanical system but knowing what parts go where, what order to disassemble and reassemble. First time through, document each step, organize the parts(smallest parts and springs that fall or jump out are the hardest if you don’t have extras), and having the proper tools. It is more intimidating modifying a weapon that could kill or maim you or others if you make a mistake though.
Just finished this. First time I’ve ever modified a gun. Very easy and simple to do. Only hiccup I ran into is the loops on the new sear spring were completely closed and I had to pry the loops open a touch to get the sear on and the pin through. Otherwise it went together great and the trigger is greatly improved. Not only lighter but much smoother. More linear of a pull and not so much a pull//stop//pull.
For those who think this is hard to follow watch the Apex trigger install video it's more detailed and much easier to follow along you can use that video to install any brand trigger or part. I installed an Apex trigger in a Hellcat Pro and I might buy and install this PRP kit in a different Hellcat. Again just mentioning Apex video it's easier to follow along better details not saying the Apex product is better just the video. In fact watch both videos this video shows the disconnect part swap and the Apex video does not as the Apex kit does not come with a new disconnector. Seriously this is really easy if you can or believe you can change a door knob you can definitely change a Hellcat trigger it's not much harder than a Glock trigger, I believe this video skips past a few little things much to quickly or not at all which confuses but is still better than nothing so thank you to PRP I'm thinking I might need your entire trigger kit including the PRP trigger shoe and I can get a much better idea how my Apex trigger matches up against the PRP trigger kit.
When i took my .22 Browning Buckmark apart to clean it all kinds of things fell out when I took the grips off . When I finally got it back together I immediately sold it .
Thanks PRP another great video on how to install. This is my 2nd PRP springfield kit and went pretty well. Only suggestion is to point out seer direction.
Just installed the kit, reduced pull weight by about 2 pounds and trigger is much smoother. Thanks for the video, made the job a lot easier. Trigger pull weight is in part a personal preference. Trigger pull weight in a personal defense firearm is a contested topic. In general a heavy trigger invites less accuracy. In a gunfight accuracy of trained shooters is about 20%. Your range accuracy is a poor predictor of gunfight accuracy unless you’re training in a very specific way. As there is no reason that an experienced shooter carrying in a good Kydex holster should accidentally discharge a firearm with a 3-4 pound trigger, after all this kit doesn’t result in a hair trigger, give me improved accuracy any day.

Man I need to do something to my cats trigger, I shot it for the first time today, I put probably 100 rounds through it and the damn trigger left me with literally a freaking blister on the inside edge of my trigger finger. The only way to not shot low and left is to squeeze the grip as hard as you possibly can and then you can knock the center out of the target. It's a bucking bronco, SNAPPY LIL 9MM.
So this kit works just by lightening the springs? I’m trying to understand what’s all involved in making this a lighter pull Is there anything else that could by honed or polished to further decrease the pull weight?
I finally realized that the kit installed here did not include a trigger . Now after I contacted the great folks at PRP and discussing the actual trigger install I’m ready to move forward and install my complete PRP trigger kit.
A little trick I learned after chasing down lost springs a lot was to cover the part with a plastic grocery bag and then remove it. It'll catch the flying spring and make your life a whole lot better!
Was thinking on getting the Hellcat. Good to know a trigger upgrade is available. No matter how good a out of the box factory trigger is. They still suck. Lawyer safe.
Looks to be basically the same takedown and reassembly as an xds. Minus having to punch a pin out for the striker safety block and grip safety. Almost looks like a lot of the internals are the same as well. If this is a micro xds I'm all in!
Does this have any change in regards to the known "issue" where the trigger will not activate if you have any lateral pressure on it before attempting to pull?
Would polishing the sear make any difference? Sure helps with all the other trigger jobs I did. Smoother, lighter. Had a Taurus PT 111 G2. It's trigger was awful. My gunsmith took the trigger assy apart & put the metal parts ( minus the springs) into a vibratory tumbler with ceramic B.B.s. & ran it about 20 minutes while we had coffee. Rounded off the sharp edges & shot peened polished the parts. Reassembled it & it was a TOTALLY different unit. Smooth, easy & fast. Went from a V.W. bug to a Ferrari. He polished the feed ramp & chamber too. ZERO jams after that.
I like how they essentially copied the glock safe action system, but made everything super robust. A lot more machined and sintered parts instead of stamped ones.
I’m watching this video over and over before I attempt the install. But the one thing I’m going blank on is the trigger itself. I don’t see where the trigger is actually put on the assembly bar.
Help! Your disconnector pin "fell out" in your video which is baffling to me because I can't get my disconnector pin out at all. Disconnector, spring, and pin are all still in and I can't get them out.

@Clay Pylant No worries bro, I FREAKING love my FDE Hellcat, I put a Holosun 507k optic on it and all I can say is WOW WHAT A PERFECT COMBO. Do your self a favor and get a Holosun 507k for your Cat. You will need to file a little on your post, but it's REALLY worth doing. Good luck man.
I figured it out. The pin will slide out. His fell out in the video. Just took a little bit of work. I depressed the actual disconnector and rotated it 45 degrees and that seemed to loosen the pin.
Unfortunately my sear spring was bent and is causing reset issue a new one is on the way!! I want that new sear and disconnect Spring and plate it didn’t come with the MCarbo kit!!
Way too difficult. I would be scared to death I couldn’t get it back together. Not a good idea to have less than a 4 pound trigger on a small ccw. I can get the stock trigger pulled just fine. Would have liked to see if it had a definite wall and the break and reset demonstrated. I’m more about a crisp break at the wall and a short reset than I am the weight of the pull
Fairly simple if you pay attention and use the right tools. As for trigger pull weight, that's subjective. Every gun I've carried since I turned 21 ten years ago has had a 3.5 - 4lb trigger and I've never felt it to be dangerous. Definitely improved my speed and accuracy though.
That trigger safety 'tab' looked easy to fix, but don't forget your life may depend on that trigger safety working properly, so if you're used to working on guns, get the kit, if you're not, send the pistol back to the company.
Despite what most of the comments are saying this doesn't look that difficult. Then again I did just spend two hours in the guts of a revolver doing a trigger job so everything mechanical seems simple right now.
First of all powderriver, you have amazing skill with your hands. Could have been a surgeon. In the end when I'm nervous, i want to have meant to kill the bad guy. Your skills would bode well on a competition weapon, but for self defense where most encounters are measured in feet and center mass is most important, i'll take the stock trigger pull any day. I want the dead guy on the ground in front of me to have been my resolution and not the jitters. Awesome technical breakdown info though. Saved it for reference. Thanks!

Once I saw the “spring clip” I knew I was in over my head.
Don't let any of these installations intimidate you, there are only 6 small pieces to fit together, and most of them go together. The slide is very easy. The kit comes with two sear springs and I went with the blue sear spring, and installed the rest of the PRP kit. Took about 40 minutes, but I am quite slow. Quite an easy job when you're not installing parts backwards like me.

i did this with my springfield xds, learned a lot, was scary. and did something similiar to my CZ p07 with parts from another company

I’m watching this video over and over before I attempt the install. But the one thing I’m going blank on is the trigger itself. I don’t see where the trigger is actually put on the assembly bar.
Help! Your disconnector pin "fell out" in your video which is baffling to me because I can't get my disconnector pin out at all. Disconnector, spring, and pin are all still in and I can't get them out.
Which spring is the lighter spring? The blue spring or the silver spring?

@Clay Pylant No worries bro, I FREAKING love my FDE Hellcat, I put a Holosun 507k optic on it and all I can say is WOW WHAT A PERFECT COMBO. Do your self a favor and get a Holosun 507k for your Cat. You will need to file a little on your post, but it's REALLY worth doing. Good luck man.

My disconnector spring won't come out due to a rod. Here I am 40% through and I can't get that DAMN piece out. Any suggestions?

basterdhole no. I used the factory disconnecter spring instead of trying to replace it. Very frustrating.
I figured it out. The pin will slide out. His fell out in the video. Just took a little bit of work. I depressed the actual disconnector and rotated it 45 degrees and that seemed to loosen the pin.

@@basterdhole Yes! Thank you. I did the same thing and just grabbed the pin with needle nose pliers to get it out.
This makes the trigger go down to about a 3.5lb pull? Am I understanding correct?
from the video it looks like 3.75 lb depending on where you pull
I want that sear, new safety plunger, and disconnect spring and little slide part. That didn’t come with my MCARBO titanium striker assembly.
Unfortunately my sear spring was bent and is causing reset issue a new one is on the way!! I want that new sear and disconnect Spring and plate it didn’t come with the MCarbo kit!!

Way too difficult. I would be scared to death I couldn’t get it back together. Not a good idea to have less than a 4 pound trigger on a small ccw. I can get the stock trigger pulled just fine. Would have liked to see if it had a definite wall and the break and reset demonstrated. I’m more about a crisp break at the wall and a short reset than I am the weight of the pull
Fairly simple if you pay attention and use the right tools. As for trigger pull weight, that's subjective. Every gun I've carried since I turned 21 ten years ago has had a 3.5 - 4lb trigger and I've never felt it to be dangerous. Definitely improved my speed and accuracy though.
I am a retired USAF CATM. Back then, I could have done this. Now? Not so much. I can live with my stock Hellcat trigger. Or, click the slomo button.
That trigger safety 'tab' looked easy to fix, but don't forget your life may depend on that trigger safety working properly, so if you're used to working on guns, get the kit, if you're not, send the pistol back to the company.

Despite what most of the comments are saying this doesn't look that difficult. Then again I did just spend two hours in the guts of a revolver doing a trigger job so everything mechanical seems simple right now.
Why are the springs in the magazine so strong? They are very hard to load.

First of all powderriver, you have amazing skill with your hands. Could have been a surgeon. In the end when I'm nervous, i want to have meant to kill the bad guy. Your skills would bode well on a competition weapon, but for self defense where most encounters are measured in feet and center mass is most important, i'll take the stock trigger pull any day. I want the dead guy on the ground in front of me to have been my resolution and not the jitters. Awesome technical breakdown info though. Saved it for reference. Thanks!

There is no way to get that disconnector spring out because of the little plunger in there. Yours didn’t have that.
If gunsmithing had levels of degrees, I’d say he has a doctorate degree. 😳
