    I just installed this on my XDm 3.8 compact 9mm. It's the best thing I have ever done. I tried all the spring combinations and stuck with the blue (light) springs. It feels fantastic. My friends said "Why didn't you buy a gun you like without having to modify it?" Well, because I loved the XDm and with this kit, it is perfection. It's that good. No overtravel, crisp break, reset, man, haha, what can I say. I was talked into an XDm over a Glock, by my Gun Shop Dealer, and the overtravel disappointed me. But after this kit, I am so glad I did. Every XD deserves this. Way worth it.

    Thanks for the video. I like your direct , "get to the point" way of showing the viewer how to get things done. Not a lot of opinions and comments, thanks again. I'll be looking forward to watching more of your work.

    I installed this on my XDM 5.25 9mm this morning. It took me about an hour, including about 15 minutes of looking for the striker plug when I launched it across the room while putting the striker indicator and spring back into the slide. The trigger is insanely better than it was, now I'm off to the range to try it out!

    Installed the drop kit in less than 20min. The only suggestion I would recommend is to show all the parts being installed close up and which way do they go in when you drop them in. So viewer (shooters) can get all instruction from all angles. Overall a good video for first time wanna be Armorers.

    Thank you for this video. Just a comment to anyone putting the easy install trigger kit into an xd mod 2 subcompact. At the 5 minute mark of the video the first half of the installation is done and we're told to do a function check of the trigger reset. My trigger pulled in and then would be stuck in the fired position and would not come out to reset. I called PRP Customer service and they put a Gun Smith on the line to help me. He told me to disregard the function check at this point and to complete putting in the new trigger and then see if everything works. I completed the assembly and put my xd mod 2 back together. PERFECT!!!!!!! All that I can say is my trigger is amazing. My complete trigger pull is a little over a quarter inch and very smooth. If I miss the bullseye the only one I can blame is myself. One more small detail. When you take out that first pin holding the spring under tension it shoots downward out the magazine well. I was blocking the top of the pistol and couldn't figure out how i lost it. Thank God I was barefoot and after 10 minutes of cussing I stepped on it because I was looking with a flashlight on a dark tile floor and never would have found it.

    Installed this trigger in my XD45 Compact. Took about 30 minutes and the trigger is phenomenally improved. Take-up and reset are much shorter, over-travel is reduced and the break is crisp and predictable. Excellent kit. This is the first time I've ever broken down a striker fired pistol and it was no problem.

    Very good presentation on the install. My gun is the SA XD Mod 2 Subcompact 40 S&W, a terrific gun but I opted to fine tune the trigger. It took me 10 minutes to remove all the parts. I laid them out on my bench and simulated how they fit if installed. I then reinstalled all the original parts, not once but twice. I now knew exactly how to do the install so when I received the PRP parts, it would be an easy job to reassemble. Received the trigger kit, installed all parts, cycled the action a few times and she clicked and popped as it should. Loaded up my range bag with ammo and off the club I went. I rapid fired about 50 rounds of 165 and 180 hand loads. The gun absolutely worked exactly as I wanted, a lighter trigger pull and short reset.

    I just ordered my kit for my XDm 3.8 subcompact. I too didn't like the long pull and bought this instead of the Glock 19. I'm a little nervous doing this myself but have heard it's not bad at all. All the kinks have been worked out, and relatively simple. Seeing the break and reset I think I will love this gun after installation. I am currently using my SW99 9mm for edc until I get this done. I like the gun except for the travel length. This will be great!!

    Great trigger kit, really improved the trigger on my xd 45. Very helpful video, although there are a couple of differences between the xdm in the video and my xd, I was able to follow along step by step. If you are thinking about getting the drop in kit, do it. It took me about 1 hour to install and I am very happy with the results.

    Got this and was scared to death to install it in fear of messing up my xdm 45 compact which is an excellent firearm. Man you have no idea how easy you made this for me. Im happy as hell I did it on my own instead of shelling out funds I dont have for a gunsmith to do it. Thanks for the product and for making it so easy!! Now if only it were this easy installing front and rear sights! Grrrrr!

    Hey thanks I installed this kit years ago and the trigger was just a little to light for me. So I decided I would just install a bit heavier trigger spring all other components being stellar. But it has been a long time so your video was very helpful and simple. Nice job. Buddy.

    I installed this kit in my XDM45 5.25 and all I can say is WOW. The gun had a nice trigger from the factory but now I have a great trigger, the groups really tightened up. The reset is quick and the follow up shot is tight. Ordering the next one for my 9mm 5.25. Keep up the good work. Thanks

    Excellent video-instructions! Thanks for the technical support of this kit, made the job so much easier. Kit installed with zero defects and 100% function. This kit gives the XDM 45 trigger less take up and and slop than the FACTORY installed Combat Action Trigger job on the XD45 (cut the cost in half as well).

    Man you made it look so easy! Maybe next time for us new guys could you show the direction of each piece as you put them in. So we don't put them in upside down or waste time trying to put them in the wrong way. Thanks for the video.When I can afford a trigger I'll watch again. If there's a better trigger now for the XDM OSR as of 2018 could you show and tell us on it please.

    yup, I don't really mind the stock trigger TOO much (as far as factory triggers go)... but after doing a number of training classes, I feel that ive gotten to the skill level where I can be even more effective with it IF I had a better trigger.... basically it got to the point where the factory trigger was hold me back.... but now the new Drop In trigger changed that, my combat speed AND accuracy has gone up greatly!

    Thanks for this" how to" video. No way I could have installed my trigger kit without it. I will use my xdm for service pistol matches (bullseye) where minimum trigger pull of four pounds is the rule. I did not install the lighter striker spring because I didn't want the pull to go below four pounds. I had to reinstall the original trigger return spring because the reduced spring would not always return the trigger to reset. Trigger pull is now shorter and without the first stage. Pull weight is 4.5 lbs. The trigger that I got had no overtravel improvement, there is still quite a bit of distance the trigger will move after the sear lets go. Now, I gotta go function fire and practice. Thanks again.

  • @snoun77

    Great trigger. I'm have the kit that has the competition trigger spring, the competition spring is so light that its not pushing my trigger forward enough to reset the trigger safety. The issue is not the safety lever as yo suggested but the light trigger spring itself. Also the plastic trigger does feel a little funny, I'm thinking about putting the OEM trigger back on and make my own travel stop using a set screw. Besides that, pretty nice trigger.

    I have a question, does removing that striker safety spring from the mix change the factory level of safety against falling or dropping the pistol? I hike alot and want to make sure I'll still be safe when i run jump or fall with it on my belt... but I'm also not in love with the factory trigger...also can you do a video of this kit on an xd that has the factory thumb safety?

    Installing mine tonight......baby BABY 😁 AND I CAN'T WAIT
    UPDATE: I upgraded my XDM 45 with this kit but I'm getting averages of around 3.0 to 3.3lbs according to my Lymans digital gauge. 👍🏽 I can't imagine what the extreme trigger kit is like. Talk about hair trigger 😱.

  • @mrweeby1961

    Finally picked up an XDM. The trigger is... meh. Looking at this kit to improve trigger function. The only concern I can think of is using a reduced power striker/firing pin spring. Some ammo has hard primers and I guess it would be possible to have light primer strikes. Just thinking out loud.

    Pretty sure it's the same kit yes but when you order it will confirm. Google powder river precision or call them, they seemed very nice on the phone. In fact they told me more info about the kit than on the site or videos. Such as coming with two types of spring sets, one for combat, one for competition.

    • @HighPower762
      @HighPower762 6 лет назад +2

      BlueonGoldZ I don't know what the trigger weight range us in the drop-in trigger is. A friend of mine just put the precision trigger kit in his XDM Competition and it supposed to be in the 2-3 lb range. It actually come with a very specific warning stating that if you're not used to light triggers, you should not use it. However, as a defensive pistol instructor I would say as a general rule, I advise my students to use any pistol for self-defense with a trigger weight of less than 4lb because it could create a possible liability issue if you end up in court. Again, I don't know what weight your particular trigger has. You should call them to find out before carrying it with their trigger kit in it. Good luck and stay safe...

    Be aware this video does not explain the fact this kit comes with two sets of springs combat and competition and you can interchange springs to get the feel you want, I called them today and had a heads up from a buddy that has installed 2 of these. Their site does not explain this which is an AWESOME selling point. By the way they were very nice when I called... got the warm fuzzys.

    The kit went well till the final step to install the dis-assemble lever. I cannot seem to get it past the spring blocking the hole. The spring seems to be in the right position as the slide stop seems to have correct spring pressure. HELP! Rotation of the lever does not help as it is still trying to get a full circle past the spring blocking the hole.

    • @gvet47
      @gvet47 8 лет назад

      +gvet47 I found to get past the spring I needed to make sure the small projection on the take down lever that fits into the dis-assembler transfer bar is used to press the spring down as you rotate the lever. All my parts seem to fit a lot tighter than what this video seems to show. Did drop my trigger pull by 2 pounds but now need to put in a different grip panel as the trigger is now back farther and does not fit hand the same. Still not a crisp break like many of my revolvers or even my service 1911!

    I have an off topic question I'm hoping someone will help me with. I've had many Semi's, but the XD .45 Auto, when you pull the slide to chamber a round, the Barrel Leans up a slight bit? I thought something was wrong with it, but I just saw an XD 45 on ArmsList and it showed a pic with the slide locked back, and his barrel aimed up just a bit; So I'm just asking Is this Normal, and Why does it do that when all (or most) other Semi's don't??? Thanks

    • @NotElmerKeith1
      @NotElmerKeith1 9 лет назад +1

      Totally normal for a non-fixed barrel in a semi auto. The barrel locks into the slide when a round is in battery. When fired the back of the barrel drops down to allow the slide to come back. Some autos, like a Browning Hi Power, have a fixed barrel that does not move when the slide comes back.

    why wouldn't you replace the striker safety spring?..and what exactly does it do?

    • @keithharris7921
      @keithharris7921 7 лет назад

      Having the striker safety spring adds to the pull weight. Nothing wrong with that; I guess you can think of it as a way to tune your trigger to whatever is comfortable for you. With this kit installed, my Springfield XDM 5.25 has a trigger pull of 2 lbs. 7 oz.
      As for what it does, I'm not 100% sure, but I noticed that removing it disables the grip safety for the trigger pull phase. I still need to actuate the grip safety to rack the slide, but not to pull the trigger. I've shot around 300 rounds since installation of this kit and I've had zero issues. I love this gun now :)

  • @Pugsgunsandstuff
    @Pugsgunsandstuff 9 лет назад

    I love everything about it, except it doesn't seem to be very consistent. It varies in weight from pull to pull. I have yet to see if it ignites tulammo, going to test it this afternoon.

    • @Pugsgunsandstuff
      @Pugsgunsandstuff 9 лет назад +1

      +Pugsgunsandstuff Turns out the striker safety spring had come out of it's groove, providing an unusual break. I replaced it with the stock spring, and it feels great, albeit heavier than before. Powder river sent me a new one this morning, so I'm happy with my purchase! Even with all the lightest springs in the gun, it consistently ignited Federal, Winchester, and Tulammo!

My kit came with competition springs, how much lighter are they over the non-competition springs that also came with the kit? Are there any issues if I used one competition but not an other?

    The aluminum trigger has a better feel. It is more tactile.

    Thanks for the video ! very clear !
    i have 2 questions:
    Does it affect reliability not installing the additional safety lever spring next to the sear spring ?
    Does it affect reliability installing reduce power striker spring ?
    i wonder this cause i will use it as carrying gun for defense.
    Thanks all

      It is considering it doesn’t require a gunsmith. No machining is required, it isn’t a modular group like AR.
