The 10mm 3.8" XDM Elite has taken the place of my G20 on my hip. Better sights, eats everything, better ergonomics and no barrel changes needed for whatever ammo I choose to run through it. It's my hiking, camping, atving woods gun here in the Colorado mountains. Underwood 200 grain hardcast is what I feed it up there. I did put a Talon Pro grip on it because the XDM grip texture is not ideal. It's also my winter carry piece when the heavy clothes and jackets come out. Underwood again has an impressive round for that as well. 135 grain, 1600 fps, 768 ft/lbs muzzle energy. That will get the job done!

I chose the G20 & 29 not only for the stopping power, but for the versatility to change into alternate caliber ammunitions when your preferred is not available by just simply swapping the barrel; 10mm, .40 cal, .357SIG, & 9x25 Dillon.

    • @roncoon3464

You can turn them both into .45's (Glock lowers for the 10mm and .45 are the same), but then you'd have to change the barrel and the magazines.

I think the XDM is reliable. I think you didn't have a FTF or a FTE issue. You had a locked back, that is only suppost to happen on the last shot because the mag design pushes up the slide lock . I think it most likely was shooters trigger hand hitting right side slide lock.. If I owned that XDM, and never intended to sale, I would dremel off that right side slide lock because I would conceal carry the XDM. I have a GK 29 gen 4, but like the feel of the smaller handle of the XDM 3.8 is better for me because I have medium small hands. The 29 feels good, but handle is a little too big for me. I agree with you about the polygonal barrell issue on the Glock, not being designed for really hot loads. Good video.

It appears that the slide locking open might be related to that ambi slide lock. It looks your index knuckle was activating the slide lock. It’s been a reported issue on the compacts mainly. I have the compact in .45 and haven’t experienced it but I’ve seen other reviews report the issue. Should have been reversible on the compact.

I just purchased the XDM elite 3.8 and it is far superior to the glock G20 that I have owned for several years. As for the Springfield FTFs I hate to say it you must have been you activating the slide lock as I have seen this happen first hand in person. I have not had a FTF in 300 rounds. GET THE SPRINGFIELD... Glock needs to get with the program and make some advancements and improvements. Glock would be smart to take Lee Iacoca's advice "You either leed, follow or get out of the way!" Glock better start trying to leed because they are getting pasted up by many other manufacturers. I would take a Canik any day over a glock.... Sorry all of you glock fanboys but the truth hurts. There latest "big Release" was a .22lr???? seriously?

Interesting about the Glock polygonal rifling? I knew about the cast bullet issue but I thought plated bullets wouldn't matter. Obviously with those hot loads it does. The rounded rifling must be smearing and not engaging properly. My 40 S&W Glock shoots plated bullets just fine with a stock barrel but they're loaded at a modest velocity.

The slide locked open because he hit the slide stop up, wasn't a failure of the pistol. That's the only possible cause of that. It happens a lot to people that don't shoot XDs all the time. He probably shoots Glocks all the time. I had the exact opposite problem when I first got mine. I kept hitting the slide release and it wouldn't lock open after last round. Once I started putting my thumb firmly on support hand, it stopped. Not knocking this man in any way. I support all 2A RUclipsrs, this channel is very good.

The 10 is just too much for guns this small. Ultimately, a 9 is a better carry option; more rounds and much less recoil cuz it's the 2nd and 3rd shots that really make the difference.

Eh if you train with it you can use it effectively. I have a short coming out where a viewer asked me to see how fast I could hit 4 different targets with 4 shots from the g29. With full power loads it was less than 2 seconds from the beep.

The Springfield XD line is just sexy, except for the goofy looking one with a hammer. I have the XDS Mod2 OSP in 45acp. Awesome firearm. Handles the recoil like a champ. I do wish someone would make a gas pedel for that model. I went with the XDS because im very skinny and the XDS is thin as hell. Easy to conceal. Harder for me to not print with larger pistols.

This is the second video where i've seen malfunctions in the xdm. The first one the youtuber was definitely unintentionally hitting the slide lock and was able to stop the issue when he really concentrated on it. I've watched gundungeon videos in the past with this gun and you've always had great results. I've watched maybe every other youtubers video on this gun and the thing just performs flawless over and over. So i expect something weird going on. I personally love, love the xdm 10mm. Its my favorite pistol. Never have had a malfunction yet.
I also have the g29 and i shot it for the first time. Only several mags but i enjoyed it as well. There are some types of bullets i will not shoot out of it though. P+P ammo, aluminum cased bullets, and hard cast due to nonfully supported barrel. But i do like the gun.

But it’s really good.😊 I did not hit in one group about 20 yards but all the bullets is inside the 8 inch circumference which is not bad for a rookie or just a luck probably.. I have both of these guns XDM Elite and G29SF Gen 4. Love them both but generally carry the G29 and use the XDM as a home defense option. I have an issue with the open backplate on the XDM, so prefer not to carry it. As I said I love them BOTH and shoot them pretty similarly. Underwood 165g 10mm as a carry load. Great video, thanks.

I have the Tanfoglio poly compact and the XD-M 3.8 in 10mm. Both triggers are MUCH better than the Glock, with the Springfield having the better DA (not really DA, of course) pull and the Tanny having a fantastic SA. I'm still carrying the XD-M, but if the Tanfoglio had a decocker, it would likely be my EDC.

Surprising. If I had the option behind enemy lines I would not have bought my Glock 29SF. If the roster goes eventually, or I make my escape, I want an XDM...originally figured I'd sell the 2x4 with a crappy grip angle but now time will tell on that. Shocked on the XDM failures.
