    Good topic, After 20 years as a pro musician, and a background in recording studio engineering. I tend to just tap my foot and count the measures and click the M either on the 1 or the 1 and 2 - or on each quarter note.
    I find the eq trick a little strange and to my estimation may be confusing for some people. If there are transients, couldn't a noise gate be set to only let the transients through? Sometimes the kick drum's snap, is what is prominent. The advice that I have given people in the past is that if you have no actual music training, invite over a friend that is a drummer or a keyboard player and ask them to tap the M on the beat and see how it's done.
    I also don't always mark the whole song - If you visually look at the markers, you should see a pattern - considering that it is tempo driven, the markers can be copied and pasted over and over to fill the song and if the tempo is consistent, the ones at the end will still be in sync.
    I have seen this question many times in "Davinci Resolve User Group" on facebook, so covering this is going to do well for you.
    I don't know how the Premiere one handles it. It seems that if they had a click track tempo that you could set by tapping 2 or 3 bars and then have it lock to the track. Considering all the amazing stuff that Resolve has added over the last few years, that this would be a simple add-on.
    I have a an 11 point list that I have been asking BMD to add to Resolve. I think this would be a good thing to add.

      Hey Jim - Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts, I appreciate it! It's great to hear from a music/recording pro. I hear ya on the listening to the beats and tapping it out. I do that too. I know some people aren't able to do that so hopefully this can help them.
      I agree, Resolve has come so far in just the last few years, it's pretty amazing. It would be great if they could add in what you mentioned. Hopefully they continue to innovate and add awesome features that make our job of editing easier and faster. Thank you for watching!

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  Год назад

      Thanks man! Sounds like a cool project. Would using a multicam clip work for you in this situation? You can have the multicam clip change angles & audio if you want. Seems like the quickest and most efficient way to do it. Here's an old multicam video I've got on how to do it, but everything is the same in version 18: ruclips.net/video/ZzPZe36RdkU/видео.html

  • @Photovintageguy
    @Photovintageguy Год назад +4

    30fps is better for cutting to the beat vs 25fps. You can also edit a frame a little off the beat if you want softer cut. Cut on movement also is good with beat. Camera movement, subject movement ie arm movement or head turn.

    • @Photovintageguy

      @@domehouse79 more frames equals more resolution. If you can stop on five more frames per second, the match will be closer to what happening on the screen. It's not a lot but it is noticable. The same would go for 60fps, but then you typically change the look and cameras drop in image quality, so 30fps is a very reasonable compromise.

    • @raguellagrande7344
      @raguellagrande7344 Год назад +1

      @@JasonYadlovski that would be amazing. In fusion, you can use expressions like math to make one node's values change when another node's values change, using linear math. So, for example, you could say the wiggling effect of the displace node increases as the size value of a merge node increases.
      Would be great to make a sort of "camera shake" effect respond to heavy bass automatically. (I'd likely place that on an adjustment layer just so i don't interfere with original footage and can exclude footage from the effect as needed.

    How do you import your video clips without their original audio, coz whenever i import video the audio also gets imported and i can't separately delete original audio of that clip? the video was great tho

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  4 месяца назад

      First, bring your video clip into the media pool. Double click it to open it in the viewer. Then at the bottom of the viewer, you can just bring in the video only if you hover along the bottom of the viewer, you'll see a video clip symbol and an audio notes symbol. click, hold and drag the video only symbol into the timeline.

    problem is that my timeline is in 50 frames. But still is not acurate to make cuts on the beat because the waveform is off compared to the frame size limit. So now cuts in footage is not exactly where it should be on the music. Can't I just edit on a music timing to no matter if half frames are being used?

    Hey! I hope you're ok. I'm very exciting about your new tool about noise reduction. I hope its name coming soon. But I have a question (maybe a stupid one) : How to export the tracks of my project to get all the tracks with their names (in wave for exemple) ? I can't do that ! THX from french guyana.

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  Год назад

      I haven't tried to do that, but you may be able to go to the File menu, then Export -> Timeline. You've got different formats you can use. You would just have to try them out. Or you can go into fairlight, go to the Timeline Menu and choose either Bounce Mix to Track or Bounce selected tracks to new layer. That might help. In addition, there are also presets for exporting in the Deliver page for Pro Tools, Avid, Premiere, etc. One of those might work too, depending on what you want.

    Edit at 17:48 just wrecked the sync. You dont notice it at the begining because the beats are even and the clips line up. But once the beat deviates even a little, the rest of your clips are out of sync. As shown at 18:04. I didnt know about the Transient method you showed though. That will be very useful. Ugh. It's been freaking months and the transient detection is still not working. It's making my video editing process slow and messy because the transient detection still not showing any lines. I had been following this video maniest times and I'm still stuck with this transient detection not showing it. Isolate it to the beat, no lines. Updating Davinci Resolve (18.1.1), still no lines. Following your videos especially the 6:34 one! And surprisingly no freaking lines even though I clearly pressed the transient detection on the tracks just like in your video and there it is, still no lines. Does anyone who using this Davinci Resolve had any of this kind of issue? I've been banging my head trying to make this work and it's frustrating. Can anyone for the love of god help me with this.

    Sad that you cannot append a new video clip to the video timeline, (with the shortcut and not drag and drop), it'll always drop at the end of the music timeline instead of the video timeline, that's where FCPX stands out, user friendly..

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  11 месяцев назад

      You should be able to append or insert a clip anywhere using the keyboard shortcuts. If it's not working with the default, you can try assigning a shortcut to the operation in Keyboard Customization.

    Really? I love so many of your videos but now you’re telling people to “edit to the beat “?? That’s so pathetically cliché. And you should never edit to the beat. Yes some of the cuts can be to the beat, but if they’re all to the beat then it becomes monotonous, predictable, boring.. You’re supposed to edit to the content of the shot, not to the beat. Oh my, Stanley Kubrick is turning in his grave.
