Thanks! I'll see about making a multicam audio workflow video. I've actually got to make an updated multicam video in general. Question: could you please make a video how to edit video-podcast with 3+ ppl. Mute sections when one person is speaking and other edit tips and tricks to edit audio on Davinci
Hi! I've got lots of videos on how to edit your dialogue that would probably be helpful - check out my channel. If you've got 3 people using 3 different mics, I'd put their audio in their own tracks, then use a gate to help cut out the voice of the 2 people that are not near a particular microphone. This would eliminate the need to for you to mute parts or keyframe any audio. It would work 'automatically'. Hope this helps!
@@JasonYadlovski huge thanks for your answer. One small question: how quickly select and mute section of track? For example, one person speaking and I want to select and mute other tracks.
You would have to key frame the part you want to mute or just make a cut on the clips you want to mute and drop the volume down in between your two cuts. It’s pretty quick but if you have to do that a lot of times across the whole video, you’re going to spend a lot of time doing it.
Really Jason your unestablished hand held video literally makes nauseous, But then I am sometimes subject to vertigo because of an inner ear problem in my left ear.
Awesome, welcome! I’ve got lots of videos to help you along the way and there’s a lot of other great creators here on RUclips that can help you as well. 😁👍
What about de reverb? I am used to having this in Premiere. Lots of my onsite interview stuff is in an office or inside without any treatments. Even with a great mic you get some sort of reverb to deal with. This EQ tutorial helped me a ton though. Thank you!
@@JasonYadlovski Man that is a bummer no real reverb as this is a super common thing to need. Ok so here is a weird one you might have insight on. I am working in a multicam timeline with several different interviews. So I am doing all adjustments in the base timelines. Color works great like this. But all of the adjustments in Fairlight disappear when I switch to my main timeline. I go back to the root timeline and they disappear too? So the fairlight adjustments that are so awesome are disappearing? I am a Premiere Pro Refugee learning this stuff in Resolve. Your videos have been my go to for almost everything. Thank you for putting them together.
Jason, very informative video. Do you have a solution for wind noise? Got a clip that has wind noise in it (my mistake) and I would have to drive over 2 hours to redo it. Is it possible to clean up the wind? Thanks again. Great info.
Hi! For wind noise, I'd try using Voice Isolation if you have the Studio version of Resolve or I'd use the Waves Clarity VX plugin. Either should do a good job at removing wind noise.
Not necessarily, you can record to a camera, just depends on your set up and what you’re trying to do. Either way can work just fine. Thanks for watching.!
Love the easy tutorials, but any chance can expand to more “real” world editing scenarios? Example I’ve read that if you have background music to make the dialogue stand out should change some of the bands while talking over music. Be great to see how dialog impacts other types of audio tracks and how they both need to be adjusted and sweetened together!
And exactly what you’re talking about, I actually already have a video on it. Check out this video or I talk about what frequencies to cut below your talking tracks. ruclips.net/video/s3MXa-xY_PI/видео.html
Happy Belated Birthday! Can you do a video on Da Vinci Resolve Bluetooth Headphone Connectivity Issues? If you could you would be a LEGEND. I have problems with it all the time, one of the many being I can't connect my headphones to my computer after resolve is open. I then have to close it and re-open it. I also sometimes have to open and close resolve 3 times just to get the audio to play. Yes, I am using my setting preferences and selecting the correct audio output device :)! Thanks!
Thank you! The best bet for Bluetooth or wired headphones is to make sure that you set the headphones as the output device before opening Resolve. Then once you open Resolve, you can double check the Preferences to make sure the device you want is selected as the output device. Many times if you try to do it after Resolve is open, it doesn't work out well. This applies for BT or regular headphones/speakers.
Thank you for this video Jason! This was very helpful! Do you recommend turning off/on the lowpass filter in camera? I have the Rode video mic pro + and have it set at -10db. Thank you in advance!
I do not turn on a low or high pass filter on the mic or camera unless it’s really needed because you can always do that in post. But if you do it in camera you can’t undo it in post.
I guess the first question is why do you wanna make it a stereo track and not keep it a mono track? I would keep it mono, but if you do wanna make it stereo, you could try making a stereo track, drop in the clip. Select the clip, right clip click, go to clip attributes, then, on the audio tab, you should see two channels, right and left, just select your one audio source for each channel. If that doesn’t work, just create two tracks, drop the audio clip into both tracks, then pan one track to the left and one track to the right
awesome video... I have a question... I can't see my bus sends or returns in my software... I noticed you were scrolling in Fairlight... I can scroll... how are you doing that? the support at resolve hasn't been able to help me. I'm in 18.5, in the middle of editing a feature, and this is driving me crazy and crazy annoying. ;) I can make new busses, everything is checked properly... all the stuff... but no sends.... my mixer ends at the EQ section and then the name of the track. Weird... Help!!!!!!! Thanks, LOVE your channel.

Hi! I don't have one yet. All my stuff is free here on RUclips right now. I'm glad you find it all help fun! What type of training would you be interested in?
@@JasonYadlovski I think people are looking for a in-depth training corse now how to use this program professionally at a reasonable price . (At least in my mind) one guy is selling traning to each tab (audio, edit tabe , etc.) For $350 a peace. And to me that's just him robbing people or he is just looking for big companies. But if you can make one for the public average Joe I think you will have something going for you. People are looking into this and want to know how to use it. Just nobody can afford $350 a tab when there is like 6 tabs on this program. ($50 or even $100 on some feels alttle more reasonable) maybe I don't understand this field but that's how I feel. Maybe you can give me a better inside on why it would need to be that much then? But, anyways sorry for my book here haha I just feel like you are a grate teacher and if you can start making traning videos of all the programs withing this editor and you sell them to the public in a real price range you will do good!

@@JasonYadlovski PERFECT! Man! I could have used this a few times ... and now I will!
😁👍
Really Jason your unestablished hand held video literally makes nauseous, But then I am sometimes subject to vertigo because of an inner ear problem in my left ear.
Ah! Sorry about that! I thought it was better than the wobble that stabilizer put in it. 😜
Amazing teaching 😊
Thanks!
Nice... thank you. I'm new to DR, used to premiere pro, but trying to learn DR...
Awesome, welcome! I’ve got lots of videos to help you along the way and there’s a lot of other great creators here on RUclips that can help you as well. 😁👍
@@JasonYadlovski Thank u!
What about de reverb? I am used to having this in Premiere. Lots of my onsite interview stuff is in an office or inside without any treatments. Even with a great mic you get some sort of reverb to deal with. This EQ tutorial helped me a ton though. Thank you!
I don't have a De-Reverb that I use. The best is probably from Izotope. The Waves NS1 helps a little w/ reverb, but not a ton.
That's a strange issue, not sure why it wouldn't hold your settings. It should....🤔 Thanks so much for watching my videos, glad they are helpful!
TY, Great vids, Could you make a video on removing breath sounds?
Thanks! A great way to remove breaths is to use a gate or expander. I've got videos on those.
is there any way to eliminate the keyboard stroke sound completely and only have the instructor sound? any suggestions? Btw, great tips!
If you have the Studio version, voice, isolation may get rid of it for you other than that you probably can’t get rid of it.
@@JasonYadlovski thanks for the response! Appreciate that
Jason, very informative video.
Wow thank you soo much
You're welcome!
Why record to the camera? Would it be better recording to the PC or even a special recording device? Thanks!
@@JasonYadlovski Thanks for the advice! I didn't know if there was a simple trick to get around it. It can be very frustrating sometimes.
But if you do it in camera you can’t undo it in post.
thank you holy jesus you made my sound 1000% better!
Awesome, glad you're audio is sounding good!
how do you take a mono shotgun track and pan it to both sides for stereo
I guess the first question is why do you wanna make it a stereo track and not keep it a mono track? I would keep it mono, but if you do wanna make it stereo, you could try making a stereo track, drop in the clip. Select the clip, right clip click, go to clip attributes, then, on the audio tab, you should see two channels, right and left, just select your one audio source for each channel.
If that doesn’t work, just create two tracks, drop the audio clip into both tracks, then pan one track to the left and one track to the right
This was very useful, thank you.
You're welcome!
awesome video...
Hey! I left you a comment on your other question posts, see if that helps. If not, let me know and I'll try and help more. 👍
@@JasonYadlovski You're my hero!!!!! I closed the meters at the top, and everything is there. Amazing how support couldn't figure that out. ;) Anyway... thank you so much, I can finish this film now and actually use the busses. So awesome, much appreciated.
I'm following along but I only have 4 bands, not as many as you have here in this video - do I need to click something to see the additional bands? thanks - i'm learning a lot here!
Are you in the Fairlight tab and using the EQ in there?
@@JasonYadlovski hi Jason - I think the problem is that when I have my laptop plugged into my TV - it messes with the viewing….I tried resolve unplugged from TV and then I could see everything was as it should be…is there a setting I need to click if it’s plugged into my tv?
+Love & Sage Tarot make sure you are using the EQ in the Fairlight tab by the mixer, not the EQ in the inspector.
Thanks a lot you saved my YT video
You're welcome!
do you have traning videos that you sell? I love your stuff and you have helped me a lot with my videos I'm still bad but I'm going the right way because of you!
But, anyways sorry for my book here haha I just feel like you are a grate teacher and if you can start making traning videos of all the programs withing this editor and you sell them to the public in a real price range you will do good!
helpful video indeed.. but im facing a problem using EQ. its not showing though its checked in mixer 3dot button. plz help
Did you try scrolling up and down in the mixer on the fairlight page?
@@JasonYadlovski hi got it finally after unchecked some from 3 dot menu :) your video really help me a lot :) thanks for your response :)
