Just traded my 2020 etron for this exact car. Took a test drive as a bit of a laugh to be honest but was blown away, not just by the performance, but the incredible value for money. The dealer also gave me a very fair trade in which has not been my usual experience. The top gear boys said many years ago " we will all be driving Chinese cars in the future" I thought "yeah right" but here I am having just bought one 😂😂😂
Test drove one in South Wales a few days ago. Never having driven a MG4 before, this X-Power was very very impressive. It will sell bucket loads! It deserves to sell bucket loads! And so nice it is a normal sized hatch and not a larger Tesla or SUV. Efficiency was 2.8mi/kWh on a warm sunny day so 170ish miles real world range. Will prefer the 77 kWh battery with these motors! And no Pano roof. But those were my only very minor gripes. Fast, fully featured and incredible for the price.
Damn, wish that said New South Wales not just South Wales - the X-power variant is not available in Australia yet with no confirmation of any arrival date. But that efficiency worries me a bit (depending on how it was driven) my model 3 is sitting on 5.3-5.4 mi / kwh average over the first 6500 km with a 300mi + range (real world actual driving) from a 57.5kwh battery.
@@helipeek2736 Not for this class of car but for the performance on offer, not that bad. But for real world use, I agree, I would want better efficiency or a bigger battery. Or both. They now do an “Extended Range” 77 kWh battery version of the MG4 but not available in X-Power form. May be next year?!
Many journalists are missing the point to this cars advantages in regards to being a "Hot hatch" I believe it's the perfect set up for real road fun driving as in it has insane straight line speed. I understand old hot hatches are brilliant around the corners and have high top speed but if you use those advantages you will be driving recklessly and probably lose you licence. Let's be real most of us who use powerful cars on the road will 99% of the time use it at the traffic lights for about 2 or 3 seconds and that's where this car works its magic :)
The brake calipers are not painted orange they have plastic covers put over them. Fantastic car tho good price point well done MG definitely worth considering
Well done! Would love to see under the bonnet with the 2nd motor. It's hard to get a sense of what 0-60 in 3.8 seconds feels like. Guess that will have to wait until these arrive in Australia. Apart from 2 MG4s displayed at Fully Electric Sydney in Mar 2023, there are no MG4s in Australia yet. First deliveries expected in Aug/Sep 2023.
Lovely car and for performance per pound nothing comes close, love the green colour looks amazing, 3 years left of my pcp finance for my jaguar e pace and really thinking about one of these, even the mg4 trophy long range in orange would be great too , 👌👍🏴
Looks interesting. I like the size of this, would fit nicely in my garage, unlike a Tesla which would be a bit of a squeeze through the door. Should be quite easy to turn it into a real sleeper, just remove or paint those weird orange caliper covers and mask the silver highlights with some sort of dip paint. What's the lead time on these things? Tesla can still deliver within weeks and you don't have to go through greedy dealers and Tesla have world leading software and their supercharger network. The choices are getting tougher as prices become more realistic.
I’m MG4Lux owner. In my opinion you don’t need more, but would like to have more torque, 320 would be perfect! 250 limited is something I don’t understand. The problem with the Xpower ist the battery size!So the Xpower Battery is to small, if you use the power like it should be in comparison to the normal version.
spoke to mg they have the new car but cant wash it they are waiting on advice on how to wash the special paint haha but its a beauty i own the trophy and its impressive
I don't understand why the model 3 is so expensive in the UK. A base model 3 is 29,700 pounds in Australia including GST/VAT and we have the same import tariff as the UK, balancing this up to apply the same VAT as would apply in the UK that's 32,400 pounds a full 25% cheaper for the same car.
@@TB-up4xi I know, we get ripped off at every turn, it always amazes me how cheap cars are in Australia, here in the UK everything seems to be expensive and it's not like we get the wages to compensate.
Tesla has a huge advantage with software that actually works really *really* well, the supercharger network and an ordering process that delivers a car within weeks instead of months and no need to go through annoying dealers trying to sell you stuff you don't want.

I thought it was about saving the planet ? Why are they making them so fast ? Surely it should be about economic use of stored power ? It's almost like we are being lied to..
But the system software do not Work in practical. the power up system is scrap, also most of the logic is looonngggg way from normal cars.. Just simpel things. exp. a rainy day you have used the wipers, next time you go to you MG4 and open the door.. in that moment the wiper make a automatic wipe, and the doorpanel is full of water incl. you self.. WHY, WHY does that automatic not just wait to you press the break pedal (the power on). there is lot more faults that give NO sense. also if you want to preheat the cabine, the car turn front and back light on.. whats the point you are not driving, maybe the logic is the naboes neet to know you are preparing to drive. the light use unneassary power for NO use at all.
Every mile of high speed pleasure you get from this car equals to a corresponding amount of human suffering. MG is now a Chinese owned company with production based in China. China's ongoing human rights record is abysmal....for instance take a close look at what they are currently doing to Tibet.
Any Questions let me know and I will do my best to answer them.

is it easier to get in and out of than a golf? and as I said that I saw the end where you get in and the seat looks a fair bit higher.

I love my MG4, but the worst part of the driving experience is definitely the brakes. I would really like to have a go in this version.

Electric cars are now incredibly rapid, but does that make them more fun to drive? Would I enjoy this on a track more than say an 1970s Escort RS2000?
I have one on order, but also have a bike engined Sylva, a classic Beetle and a rally 66 Ford Anglia. They all have their place.
Is the paint an actual matte finish?
yes for the green

Is there a bike rack hitch available?
Too bad it isn't available here in USA
Does it have lumbar support?
If it has the same lane assist of the MG4 then I don't think I would want to drive it.
