    Heating can be controlled from steering wheel and annoying beeps and loud indicator sound can be fixed in settings. Props to my local dealer - he’d watched all the RUclips reviews and it was the first thing he told me when I took a test drive. It’s excellent and I want one!

      @@Hashbrowniepie there are 2 “joysticks” (up-down- left-right) on the steering wheel and a star button next to each which toggle their functions (so 4 sets of controls) so you can assign the aircon to one and turn temp up and down (up down) and fan speed (left right) all on the one stick. Personally I wish all cars had this, just like controlling the music volume, safer with your hands on the wheel, I’ve always had a tendency to drift a bit while reaching to the dash to fiddle with the heating.

    Nice video! But there were some errors and missing information, I just got a MG4 Trophy so I can confirm you first hand the following:
    1) AirCon: you use that button under the screen to turn it on/off, you pressed it twice because it was already on. You can access to that aircon screen touching the upper part of the screen, where temperature and fan speed are always shown, or from the climate button on the right side of the screen in the home menu. Using one of those two ways the screen will stay on climate setting, so you'll have all the time you want. Also the right star button on the steering wheel allows you to control temp and fan from there. Buttons are easier to operate but it's not that bad
    2) 17" alloys
    3) drowsiness alert is the one beeping, is a known problem and MG is releasing soon an OTA soon, that's what my dealer told me when I collected the car few days ago. You can turn it off and it will stay off when you restart the car, same for lane keeping assist and preference on star button. Although regen and driving mode will reset to 3 (max) and Normal and the restart, that's annoying and I hope they will fix it as well
    4) Regen has also the "auto" setting, changing the regen intensity according to speed
    5) I didn't try to get 0-60 mph as fast as I could but it should be less than 8 seconds (you said 7 in the video). Anyway is pretty quick and the rear wheel drive gives it a really sporty feeling
    6) on the Trophy there are sensors at the back for sure, if you put it in reverse it will show you them in addition to the camera views. Not completely sure on the front, but you have a good idea where the front of the car is, so doesn't bother too much.
    Anyway, I think it's a really good car, great experience for me so far, go and have a test drive by yourself, it's worth it.

      yeah, it was comical when he was switching the aircon on & off & then b!tching about it. A little thought into what he was doing & maybe, just maybe, taking the time to look at the screen properly as you can clearly see the options you mentioned, or even, god forbid, do research or read the manual 🤣

      Are you sure lame assist can be permanently turned off? I thought it was a legal requirement that it reactivate each start on cars that have it.
      Edit: leaving my typo of “lame assist” as it’s funny and true!

    • @Dawheel90
      @Dawheel90 2 года назад

      @@yips_way hahaha you perfectly right! I was a little surprised by some of those errors/misses since there have been a lot of reviews so far and the car has been in dealerships for quite some time! But it can happen to everyone, and it was a good laugh looking at him trying to switch temperature! :)

    • @Dawheel90
      @Dawheel90 2 года назад

      @@Sto79Be yeah 100% sure, I turned off the LAME keeping assist in the moment I entered the car the first time and never came back. However, if you select the traffic jam assist instead of "just" cruise adaptive control, it will be on to keep you in lane as it is part of the TJA. But when you switch to ACC, it goes off again. The drowsiness alert should work the same way but the dealer already turned it off and I didn't try to turn it on.
      PS: loved the lame keeping assist hahaha

    The heating control is just on/off (it says that on the button).
    Press the top of the screen (where the temp is shown) or swipe down and you'll get a set of controls that don't disappear (or use the button on the steering wheel).
    All models have parking sensors at the rear (not at the front though).

  • @PaulCornish
    @PaulCornish 2 года назад +41

    A few tips for you, you can set the car to enable the heating controls from the steering wheel. You can turn the beeps OFF for the driver awareness system and they don't turn back on after restart. The wheels are 17" not 18".
    Otherwise, I agree with everything he said, it's a great car to drive at exceptional value.

    • @HoLDoN4Sec
      @HoLDoN4Sec 2 года назад +2

      when se said these wheels are 18" i thought to myself that something here is off, such tiny wheels on such a big chasis and they are 18"??
      17" makes much more sense to me, though realistically i think this car should've been sold with 18" or 19" wheels instead.

  • @tomdavison1152

    You are tapping the AC button twice. That just turns the system off and back on. It shows briefly to confirm on, then closes the display. To adjust, you simply drag down from the mini-AC info at the top of the screen and you then have the full AC control screen, OR you can allocate AC to the right star button on the steering wheel. This will bring up the full display on the screen, but will also give you shortcut to temp via the toggle switch up/down and fan-speed left/right.

    • @Dreadpirateflappy
      @Dreadpirateflappy Год назад +4

      @@AutoTraderTV as he said you can assign it to the right star button on the steering wheel and make that a permanent AC button. nowhere near as good as physical buttons, but still better than most of it's rivals when you know how to use the shortcut buttons.

  • @siksik6
    @siksik6 2 года назад +5

    *sigh*
    It does have rear parking sensors, only the drivers seat is electric, and the heating controls are accessed in a variety of ways, none of which are double tapping the button!
    (also you have the earlier version with the annoying 'driver fatigue' sensor on the steering wheel which was removed a while ago.)
    What MG DO need to fix is that the driver assist functions stay turned off when they're disabled. Some of mine do.. and some don't!
    I'm also getting about 3.5 miles per kwh motorway driving in 5 degree weather wind and rain. Happy with that!

    Rory says they start at at £24999...actually it's £25995 for the SE..he says the Trophy is "just over £30,000" ...it's actually £31,495 for the blue or white and increasing extras for the other colours up to £35190 for the orange as tested....a bit more than "just over £30000"....still excellent value though
    Instead of pressing the button at the bottom to bring up the HVAC screen and it disappearing after 2 seconds...just press the very top of the screen where it shows AC and the temp display and you will find the screen stays on all the time.
    It does have rear sensors...on my Trophy, as well as the rear cam view being displayed, it also beeps with increasing urgency the nearer you get to an obstacle ...just like normal rear sensors.

    Rejected mine due to the oil leak and warped under tray plus all the other issues like over sensitive ‘safety’ features.
    The storage bits in the rear of the front seats are only in the Trophy model.
    Car drove really well and rapid charging speeds were faster than claimed, saw 143kW charging!
    Not very efficient, 3.8mi/kWh where my Ioniq 38 was getting 5.4mi/kWh driven over the same route at the same time.

    WARNING: I work in the port of Zeebrugge where many new cars arrive and are moved between docks all day. I’ve never seen so many cars break down as the MG’s. Often seen multiple per day on the side of the road with a technician with it. So there is clearly a reliability issue somewhere…

      The ora will be comparatively more expensive, sorry. Both lovely cars. I'd grab the MG4 as GWM are not established in the UK.
      I was one of the silly sods that bought an MG6 Turbo in the early days of MG. Brilliant car but for the first 3 years, pretty much till the MG3 was released and started selling, it was a bit squeeky bum time as I wasn't sure they'd survive. It was a leap of faith because the MG6 was an awesome drivers car and I wanted an upto date ZT effectively.
      MG are booming now, one of the biggest manufacturers in the UK with a strong and established dealer network. It took them 10 years to get into a good position. They lost hundreds of millions of pounds during that time. GWM may or may not have the backing to allow for sustained losses for the first 3-7 years or Ora. If they don't, you're in no man's land.

    • @Sarngated
      @Sarngated 2 года назад +12

      Highly unlikely but also not necessary. With 100kw charging you can go from 20% to 80% in 20 minutes. If you’re driving 300 miles you will stop at some point anyway. Pointless carrying around 90kw of battery all the time for those rare super long journeys.

    • @jonathantaylor1998
      @jonathantaylor1998 2 года назад +5

      @@Sarngated yes... totally agree with you on that one.
      At least here in the UK, the last recorded 'average journey speed' (in 2016) was a mere 59mph...! So, 3 hours' driving is only about 180-190 miles, by which time you, or your little darlings in the rear seats, are gonna need a 'loo-break'.
      And, as you also point out, 20-25 minutes rapid charge gets you back on you way with another 180-190 miles of range before you've had chance to drink your Starbucks...! 😉

    • @yuriy81uk
      @yuriy81uk Год назад

      @@Sarngated MG can do about 170-180 motorway miles during winter.100kw public charging will cost you 80p per kWh making it more expensive than a diesel to drive after initial home charge depleted. With 300 miles of winter driving, you can get to French alps with 2 charging stops vs 4 with current range. And for those with no home charging, 300 miles of range is a must in my opinion so that you do one charging stop weekly to cover your daily chores.
