Jailbreaking is actually legal and if you plan on taking your iPhone to the Apple store and it’s jailbroken just restore it before you take it
I don't care about Apple, but voiding your warranty and trying to trick the manufacturer that you didn't sounds legally dubious. The Genius Bar is a straight scam though. Charging 4 digits for a faulty cable.

As a former employee, I totally agree with everything that they said. It was the worst to be stationed at set up and have customers that had no clue what their passwords and usernames were. They would actually get angry with you and expect you to solve it right away.
Otherwise I really enjoyed working for the company :)

Those who don't remember their passwords, what the hell are you doing with your life? Remembering a password is your own responsibility and you have no right to disturb others for that.
Black Guy Not necessarily. It does help to have good knowledge on technology and keeping up to date on it as well. They look for people who have good social skills. They are really picky though.

I loved when I went to the Genius Bar at the flagship in NYC when my iPhone had issues. Really helpful and fixed the problem on the spot.
Miss having that service here in Malaysia where we don’t have an official apple store and it takes FOREVER for the authorised service centres to fix anything.
Former Tech Support Apple Employee here! That 1guy is RIGHT about spending hours with customers trying to help set up and also Almost every problem is PASSWORD related or 2 factor related! HERES A TIP: If you are getting a new phone and a New phone number, PLEASE add that new number to your apple account under numbers, names etc. It will help you in the long run. If you don’t (unless you have another device associated with the account) you will not be able to get into your account right away. What it will do is send a code to your old number so that you verify yourself. The problem is that people don’t add their new number to their account so theyre unable to get the code thus being unable to get into their account. Your account would have to go into ACCT recovery and that can take anywhere between 3 days to a month before youre able to access your account again. And No we can’t speed up the process.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it's not directly illegal to modify their products, but since iOS is a trademarked software you're not allowed to modify it. It's probably listed somewhere in the terms and conditions when you activate your phone. So you've technically agreed that Apple reserves the right to sue you for modifying their software. Although that almost never happens, they've absolutely made sure they are legally allowed to do it if they for some reason wanted to.
@@Taahaco It actually doesn't work that way. While you own the actual piece of metal that is the iPhone itself, you do not own the operating system, since it's only *licensed* to you.

6SP Apple’s website states nothing about modifying iOS as illegal and may allow them to sue or file criminal charges against the guilty party. They will just not support the device if modified. But in some countries it can be illegal, just not in North America.
At my Apple store there was this one guy that I saw every time I went, listening to music though his headphones and dancing like real dancing, jumping, shaking, drumming. It wasn’t annoying it was funny.

Apple doesn't fix anything that really requires technical knowledge. Usually it's a complete replacement at a high cost.

One great thing about Iphone is the irremovable tracker, can't really steal them unless u plan to strip the parts and they have so many security features to get through for a new user.
I can deal with pushy Apple salespeople for that reason.
@r3nzuk0 changing a chip that controls charging has nothing to do with security. It's because of money.
I will say that I got EXTREMELY lucky with this. But there was one time I spilt water on my MacBook. They took it to the back and opened it up. They came back and told me that I should either get a new one or get new parts. Now the parts were just so expensive that it prolly would be better to get a new MacBook all together. So after that, I went to a local shop that repairs tech. They opened it up and cleaned off the corrosion. My MacBook is now once again alive and kicking.

I'm glad someone is aware of the collection of scam artists actually are. Sadly, even the people in the video seem to be brainwashed to an extent of what Apple is actually doing. Charging 1000-3000 for what should be a $20 repair+labour
To add on to what the employees were saying in this video, jailbreaking is not illegal (it was made legal in 2010 by the US government) but, if you jailbreak an Apple device, it voids your warranty (if you still have one) and the employees at Apple cannot service the device (as mentioned in this video).

I dropped off my phone for repair, took an hour longer than expected and an employee at the Genius Bar said I should have gotten a text saying the repairs would be longer than expected... but they had my phone🤦 yeah real geniuses

I am a little upset that there is a recall ("quality program") for some macbook pros due to screen issues, but apple never sent out a memo to owners about it. I only found out that I qualified for an entire new screen by chatting online with one of their repair advisors about it. And even then, she only told me I "may qualify" for a quality program, not what that program was, what they would actually change, how much it might cost, etc. It wasn't until I got my laptop back and got the repair receipt that I learned they replaced my entire screen (top half of the laptop) and that it was totally free. So, like, I am glad they fixed my screen free of charge, but the entire process was so hush hush that even now I have my laptop back I don't really know much about what the problem was and such. They really should be more open about these kinds of issues.
Y’all I’m a Geek Squad member who is from a Apple Certified store. We fix iPhones from 6s and up, but only for screens, batteries, and cameras,, anything else we send out to Apple’s service center in California. If there is something software wise that prevents us from checking in a device then we reference them to the Apple store. Feel free to leave comments on mine if y’all have questions

Purple Leccy depends on what it is we are fixing and if it has Apple Care. With Apple Care screen replacement is $30 and any other damages is $100. Without Apple Care prices vary

There was one time a customer was trying to return a red iPhone case a week after they had bought it. We looked at the case and while it looked fine, the case was a fake. The Apple logo was darker and the inside was not lined the way an iPhone case is. And this customer was furious lol we literally had to get him escorted out because he was getting rowdy and obnoxious

@@Dedicated_.1 let me explain it a bit more. So anyone can go online (Amazon, eBay, Wish, places like that) and buy a dupe iPhone case that looks so similar to the original. I've seen it happen more than once; the customer would come in, buy the same color case then return the fake one a couple days later by taking the original out of the packaging, then putting the fake one in. They can present the receipt all they want and yes, they did in fact buy something from the store, but what was inside was not our product. A lot of people do that sort of thing sadly

PLEEEEEEESE speak on that apple/iTunes/email password issue! I’ve been working in telecommunications for the last 18 years! And I have worked for almost every major cellphone company. The most annoying thing is when people lose or break a phone and have to get a replacement and you get the ready to restore their info but they have no clue what their iTunes or apple password is or they don’t know their email information but they are whining and crying about how they NEED everything that was on their old phone and all that. But you have no idea what your password is and you never once even physically backed your information up to your laptop on iTunes and you don’t have any idea what iCloud is.......yeah no! I’m sorry person your information is gone. Have a blessed day.

Ok for the girl who doesn't know about gmail..... Customers are trying to sync up their gmail accounts with the built in email app. Just go into the email app. Click on add account. When prompted enter your gmail address and password, then save. That's the basics.
You guys should have asked them to do an actual repair on camera. Like cracked screen, busted speaker ect.
