That was a lot of work for a walk in refrigerator / bomb shelter or is it somthing else entirety. Unless refrigerators are 6 or 7 thousand dollars. Because I'd say that's about how much it would be here in the states to build a cellar like that. But we can get a walk in refrigerator for about 2 or 3 hundred bucks. But I don't know Sweden at all. But if all the female are as beautiful as the one you got I might be a citizen of Sweden soon. Is there any land for sale by your place?

Why did you make the front wall so wide? Wouldn't it have been the same structure with the out side front wall wasn't so long with the wing like things pertruding out. ????

You could take a grinder and Smith it out then put a concrete polisher on it.

To prevent the drips just use a grinder to grind down the ridges in cement roof so there are no places to stop the moisture till it drops off. I don't think any crew would have done that much better. You should be very proud of your work. Happy New Year.

Mathias,...Your videography skills are always SO beautiful. I know it is so cold there, but it truly is a winter wonderland! Tova, you would be so proud of me - my mother and I made our own Calendula balsam this year and it is amazing!!!! Thank you for your video on how to make it in a natural way. The Christmas video was absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! Tova and Mathias, your work has paid off. The Cheese Cellar/Dairy has been such a HUGE project for you all - but it will be so worth it. Of COURSE you must have a wine cellar (and for vegetables). I am so impressed with what you have done with your own hands. I was SO afraid some of the wooden beams and support pillars would fall and hurt you. So cute to see Ivar helping DaDa - he even head a head lamp on!! His giggle when you were climbing on the ceiling was so sweet. He will have to work on his monkey skills to be like dada and climb upside down. I am sure you have plans to upcycle/re-use all that wood - I can't wait to see what your next project will be. Ivar is growing so fast. He and my granddaughter Lydia are almost the same age. Her favorite word seems to be NO, also! HaHa They can have their moments with temper when they are tired. By the way your cheese and meat boards looked wonderful! So did the sausages your roasted! What a sweet video - thank you for sharing your lives with us. Peace and joy in the coming year to each of you! ~ Jan

This is so wonderful! In regards to your comments about how long it took. You either have time or money, rarely both.My husband and I have a manufactured home that was built in the late part of the '70's.It's okay, but it looked very cheap inside. It has taken us 34 years to make it comfortable and attractive.Same as you,we took what we had,and the time and money that we had,and made the best of it.It is in the woods, and we heat with wood.We have to manage our forest, and we had animals, a few fruit trees, and a garden. There is never enough time or money for things to be done quickly, but we really appreciate it when a project gets finished. We enjoy watching your videos because it helps us to know that many people want this kind of life, all over the world, and while it isn't fast to make happen,it is deeply satisfying, and fills a void in our souls.Have a good winter!

We used to support with a measly $10 per month. Thats all that we could afford. Now they have 1000+ patrons so they're ok I guess. Average $7 each? $7k a month. More than most ppl earn in a month. It's a good business model for sure. Nice filming though. But very few replies to comments. That grates to be honest. Probably too busy to bother.

They deserve all the help they get. Mathias is a true artist, he's like a painter with the camera. Very subtle, doesn't impose a storyline. People pay for disgusting Netflix and don't think twice. Mathias videos are world prize material.
Now just imagine how demanding and ungrateful people are. I feel blessed to have found this channel. That they share their lives and take the risk to open up to others scrutiny in such a crazy world. They don't have running water, they work hard in harsh conditions, they have a one year old full of energy and a curious mind and they added to all that filming and editing. Who on earth dare to complain? They give a lot of themselves. We should be grateful. Everyone sells their art, an apple hanging from the ceiling yoko ono style, very hard to do right?

Mathias, While it is true that you could have hired people to make the cellar, and Yes they may have been able to do it in just a few days with their tools and knowledge. Would they be able to make the Fine cheeses Tova makes, Or the Artisan meats that you make, Or the Amazing videos that the 2 of you bless us all with? I have to think not. Everyone has their strengths but knowing/doing things that are not in your normal way of life sometimes give knowledge that will make Ivar able to teach all these things to his children one day. Thank you all for taking us along with you to show us what life can be like without so many destractions from what matters.

The cellar roof turned out really good! It won’t be long before you can start using it to store your fruits and vegetables.

All the hard work well paid off and you can feel very proud how much you saved doing it yourself. It looks amazing. Totally understand and can't imagine how hard it is to put video's together and know nothing can be perfect and I would not even be able to get a drone through the trees at all. I honestly tonight watching as the drone went through the top of the forest had this thought....only in my imagination could I be able to soar through the air like that and experience that beauty yet I was able to right now watching this video. It brought great joy and a sense of being a wee person again seeing beauty in the small things that as we grow up forget to appreciate. The young Husky is very good with Ivar. That is a good good dog. The Gathering with family and all that yummy food was amazing and thanks to them as well for sharing. Happy New Year.

You may be proud of the results, regarding circumstances and experience. There will be always moisture on the ceiling, especially when there will be a sudden increase of air temperature. You can do some repairs with repair stuff of for instance the brand Sika. You can do it yourself. Wait till everything is above freezing temps. 2nd option: a sprayfoam of closed polyurethane. (Not the best looks and sustainable friendly) By the way, a professional crew of two, would have spend at least a week to get to the same level.

Thank you so much again for another beautiful documentation of different aspects of your life, as a family, as builders and just about enjoying life, hard working included! So very inspiring! I am wondering if you could put a rather thin but waterproof layer of some kind of plaster on top of the outside of your root cellar's roof. That's because I heard you wondering if there could be any hidden cracks or small little lines, where rain water from above could drip down on your cheese. Don't even know if there's some inexpensive but still well-working way to do this, that also wouldn't put too much weight on the structure. Thank you very much again and bless you.

What a wonderful video on a sunday morning! The scenery is just stunning, and the sun over the snowy trees makes me wish to be somewhere where winter isn’t just grey weather with (mostly) no snow. Ivar with his own headlamp is so cute. Did he find the little mouse in the end? 😉

The plastic winds up with folds when you place the concrete and so you get an irregular surfeace where they occur..............I won't worry about that for a facility like this. Don't look back................it will do the job and be there for a long long time.

I used to see the guys that build large multi floor concrete buildings use a big hand held grinder to smooth out the high spots around the form joints. They would also use a trowel to add a coating on top. They could turn a rough looking wall into a perfectly smooth surface. I don't know what they used for coating on top but it looked like thin concrete. The end result was impressive. Just wanted to share my observation to help give you more ideas. I really enjoyed watching this project and admire the good work.
