Thanks, great video 👍 Searching for help there were lots of videos on upgrading the head unit but yours was the only one i could find on just upgrading the speakers. Spot on. Keep up the good work.
While you had the door cards off, you should have installed a pack of 'Car builders' sound deadening. It's like foil with butyl backing, and it really makes a difference to how solid the door feels when you close it, and makes it quieter when driving. Easy mod. I did the doors and roof and floor on my troopy and it made things much quieter.
Good suggestion mate! I’ll definitely consider it 👍 Luckily, it’s not too hard to remove the door cards so can still do the deadening. Thanks for the idea 💡
Is it possible to seal the stock raised air intake to make it a proper snorkel? It would be really cool to keep the OEM part with the "Land Cruiser" lettering as it's one of the defining features of the 70 Series. If you wanna replace the air intake and buy a proper snorkel look at the American company Sy-Klone. They make air filtration systems for heavy machinery and they also have a snorkel with cyclonic separation to have the cleanest air possible. It extends the life span of the filter and at least in heavy machinery saves operators money by extending filter change intervals. Oh and also they look really cool. They're popular as a high end snorkel in America for overlanders and the American JLTV APC uses one too. They ship worldwide!
Good suggestion! I looked into them. They are a bit pricey but I’ll definitely consider it. The factory head goes alright with dust separation so I might run that on the new snorkel for now
Haha 😂 I should’ve mentioned that the only reason I played that song was because it was copyright free and had bass. I still put country music in between my install notes though 🤙
12:44 Get yourself a multimeter. They're super practical and inexpensive. If you already have electrician's tools like a crimper then why not get one as they make so much more possible.
? Sounds Better, But doesn't that Head unit come with 4 sets of speaker Wires and at least one pair of RCA sub outputs? Maybe you should have removed the Head Unit and used the other pair of wires for the Two door Speakers and Put some better Tweeters where the 4inch spk were or mount them higher on the dash or pillar, Also get a SUB it does make a Big difference even a cheap one.
Good suggestions and I reckon you are right about the outputs. I don’t have the need for a sub as I listen to less bassy music now but running some extra tweeters would be a good idea 👍
That’s awesome mate! I can’t share my number on here but if you could shoot me an email or send me a message on Instagram, that would great. My email is in the contact section here and my Instagram is @northozphotography 👍
Dude, you did it incorrectly :). You’re not supposed to run wires through the door hinge. There is another grommet in the vehicle in addition to the one in the door. You access that grommet by removing that plastic trim piece near the hinge and then run the wires through both grommets: here is a video showing the correct install: ruclips.net/video/bo719QUIBsE/видео.htmlsi=j44alXq6BPaukR6x
Hi mate, I had a look at the link and thank you for sending that through. Unfortunately, no such grommet exists on the workmate as no wires run nor were meant to run from the cabin into the door. Believe me when I say I have checked this many times. Perhaps it’s only the newer 79’s that have this. But this is why it took me so long to trouble shoot the problem. The option is there for me to punch a hole and make my own grommet where the gxl one sits, but I don’t see the advantage of that compared to what I have done here. It’s been working well for the last week or so 👍
The video referred to electric windows whereas the NorthOz build has manual windows. Possibly why there is no grommet to run speaker wires through as power to the door is not required.
Good work mate. Got it done 👍. Nice little DIY upgrade.
Thanks legend!

Hi Mark, another great video and thank you for sharing.
Thanks mate! Much appreciated. I hope you had a good break over Christmas 👍
Have a good new year cobber..
Thanks mate! You too 🤙
The problem is your speakers as much as that rubbish rap music you played. lol. Seriously, thanks for the excellent video..

It’s on my list for sure. I am doing a 12v setup soon so I’ll invest in a decent one. Definitely a must have item for the garage
Looks great thanks for the look
Thanks for watching 👍
Interesting video. The doors look good. I would have added tweeters to bring the sound stage higher.
I may still add tweeters where the old 4 inch speakers were. That wouldn’t be a bad idea at all 👍
@@NorthOzthey might sound right from there though

Thanks for watching and commenting legend 👍
16:49 Man those are loud😂
For $150 I can’t complain that’s for sure 👌
Nicely done, meet you at the next step, is that Kermit the Frog?
Haha Kermit was not happy or maybe very happy! One of the two
Imagine spending 90k on a car that’s got $30 speakers - good on ya Toyota! 😂
$30 is probably a bit generous haha 😉
@@NorthOz it’s all part of the charm! Again another great build video and sitting keenly waiting for the next!
.Rather the Quality goes into the actual Vehicle build quality than something easily replaceable like Speakers.
Sorry old farts that music wasn’t for you 🤦♂️😂 another good learning vid thanks for your patience and time mark
Thanks mate!
How much did this set up cost ??
Hi mate. $565 for the door pods and about $100 for the speakers. Here is a link to the pods: www.consolesonline.com.au/store/p84/70Series-SPD.html
@@NorthOz awesome ! Thanks heaps legend appreciate it 👍🏽 love the videos
