It's so close to a nice wide open pull!

You need a “ride along” tool bag to keep the tools on the passenger seat in! (I always carry one 😂😂😂)

LoL, until trustworthy I think the tools will remain everywhere. That will be the sign it's really getting there.

I put a 540 in my 71 short narrow bed C10, similar, Hughes converter, 400 and went with a 3.00 gear in a Currie 9”. Curious what you run for stall and gear ratio.

Long answer sorry in advance,. Im running a 3.08 rear gear in a built 12 bolt. For stall I ended up calling Hughes, gave them the truck weight, tire size, engine specs, cam specs, and rear gear info. Talked with their engineers. They nailed it. They explained the voodoo of how the torque curve was going to affect the stall cause motor makes... all the torques, I was worried about it coupling and decoupling at the wrong times with a off the shelf. The thing would def pull through the brakes at idle if too tight and over heat the trans if too loose. There wasn't a off the shelf stall we could use to do the job, they looked. The part # I ended up with in case you need it is GM111STD BSC-2
Worth the phone call to order. They built the convert for me and its a shame no one can see it. It's a nice piece.
In the past I've grabbed off the shelf and stall ratings and completely missed the mark. This is the most streetable and somehow responsive torque converter in the meat of the motor I've ever had period, bonus trans temps aren't bad either. I hope the info dump helps.

@@GorhamWorks Thanks! I also called Hughes and bought a converter. I hope I didn't go too low, I didn't want the engine to get too much head start on street tires. It barely loads against the engine on idle, but I think we have plenty of torque available, even at the low rpm to power away smoothly. We will know more when we get the Currie swap completed, thanks for sharing!

I have a question..that shroud you are using...was it model FB502? I was checking that out and the openings are only 11" but the spal fans are over 14...did you enlarge the openings? thanks bud

'Frostbite FB512 Direct Fit Fan Shroud' was the shroud I'm using. It had two 14 inch holes. I can't tell if it is in stock anywhere.
