This video proves Lars is a legend.. Lars is from a different era, the humans evolve quickly based on what previous generations did. In any segment. Lars doesn't have the stamina, the physique or the technique of the new generation's drummers but the magic was there, that's why he is a forever legend.

Agree. Who cares if Lars sucks. The song is pure perfection and without him Metallica would not exist. And not to forget. He's a billionaire.

Knowing his background and what he LOVES to play now, there was ZERO chance anyone else had for the spot.

I can say Eloy is a better drummer than Lars Ulrich because of a simple detail: HE NEVER STOP LEARNING. In his own words, a few hours after the concerts where he played with Sepultura, he used to dedicate an hour or so to listen to new things and reviewing harmony, melody and rhythm. Studying and practicing music since his childhood in search of perfection, brings this kind of result: a human metronome! Majority of professional players have short time to study and spend more hours working and doing other stuffs...

I've followed him since he joined Sepultura. He was younger at the time and I remember seeing a video of him playing the old Sepultura tunes and was like oh shit!!! It's funny now Everybody's jumping on his train because of slipknot. The reason I say it's funny is because I said he's probably the best metal drummer i've ever seen in my life and the laughter was endless. Seriously. I caught so much flack. "No way dude there's so many players that are better'. Really?! Okay. I was a professional drummer for many years. His playing just stuck out so much especially his left hand. Most metal drummers don't have any ghost strokes with their left hand it's just solid hits. Not Eloy. He has the dexterity of a clyde stubblefield on the left hand but with the power of vinny paul. Met him once. I told him that. He just smiled and said he's always working and practicing. You'd be surprised on his catalog of drummers. He's a true drummer to the core , not just a metal drummer. Go watch him play a phil collins tune or hold the line by toto. It's on his youtube page. He's just a great drummer that embodies the music that he's playing!!! Plus a super nice guy!!!
