    You did not test this Core 2 Duo properly .. you need to put 16GB of ram in your machine !! With only 4GB, you are clearly bottlenecking the system, forcing it to use the SSD as a memory cache .. that's why it freezes and becomes so choppy !! It's not Core 2 Duo's fault !!

      Not that much. It would'nt help even with 8 or even 16 ram, cause you have only 2 core 2 treads, when in 2020 4 cores and 8 treads is the minimum, and recommended is 6 cores. You have only ddr 2 ram.... it is fucking slow... and won't help that much. It would'nt become playble even with 8 of ram. Your cpu is ctlritical also don't forget.

      I played Witcher3 with overclocked C2Q-based xeon and GTX660. It did 40-50fps in countryside with custom settings(foliage low, medium shadows and rest high). In big cities cpu got congested quite badly but was still playable 30fps.

      1st gen Core i5/i7(lynnfield) are even better for the price. Lynnfield xeons are dirt cheap like 20 bucks in aliexpress and so are the boards. Overclocked(same 3.8GHz as Core2 xeon) 4c/8t pushed to 70fps in cities. Integrated memory controller and extra threads give huge boost in games like Witcher3. Overclocked lynnfield is good up to GTX1060 level graphics cards in my experience.

    The asset loading stutters are amazing! These are more likely caused by the spectacularly slow ram speed.
    Not enough memory either, modern game scenes just don't like anything less than 8gb of ram.
    The physics glitches are all CPU, though. These are fun, too. Haven't seen anything this bad since we were trying to play quake 3 on pentium2 or the first celerons.
    And no, the iPhone doesn't run the same game. The assets and textures are way more light-weight on the mobile versions of games. Draw distances are different, they don't run in full resolution, they use different shaders. Porting a game between pc and mobile is still lots of work, even with frameworks like Unity.

  • @Honeypot-x9s
    @Honeypot-x9s 6 лет назад +90

    driver issues.. you didnt have the proper or any solid chipset or ethernet drivers running. processing power does not equate to bandwidth. i have a shitty intel Atom based 1U router that handles full duplex gigabit no problem (125MB/Sec).
    probably considering the age of the platform, totally handled by chipset, makes sense why getting really bad speeds.. because the chipset has no idea how to throughput such data.. and thus relying on the CPU..
    similar story to GPU, older boards specially have this issue with intel platform where they connect the PCI lanes via chipsets.. not always an issue but it was a potential risk that to save cost and complexity they migrated all the lanes over the chipset, specially a more common tactic in office PCs

    • @chriswebbtech
      @chriswebbtech 6 лет назад +5

      Have to agree here. All that loading lag etc. was data reading issues with chipset from sata or a very terrible sata drive, didn't watch to see details, but definatley most of that stuff was not cause of the CPU itself.

    • @UFDTech
      @UFDTech  6 лет назад +6

      meehhhe Of You Yeah, no. It was the CPU. When we could get the CPU to idle, we could hit 150-160Mb/s. The CPU being at 100% was a bottleneck.

    • @jthatcher1
      @jthatcher1 6 лет назад +5

      try an 8600k with 4gb of ram at 2133, I want to see the comparison. Also what meehhe of you said would explain why the CPU had to idle to get 150-160. it did not have the right drivers so it did not know how to use the hardware properly. I immediately thought the same thing when I saw the USB speeds and then especially with the network speeds. i have a core 2 duo 6300 and it gets well over 100 minimum while I'm doing other things with it. I'm not even sure you can get drivers for that system for windows 10, try windows 7 and make sure you get the specific drivers for the hardware and not use default windows drivers. That is if you want to do it justice and give it 8GB of 800mhz.

    • @Pasi123
      @Pasi123 6 лет назад

      You're right, the low amount of ram is a really big problem. Even new high end system would struggle really badly with only 4gb of ram. And I'd recommend using a Windows 7 with Core2 Duo especially if you have less than 8gb of ram and/or no SSD.

    • @Pasi123
      @Pasi123 6 лет назад

      Cuzeg Spiked I use Windows 7 on my 6 core 12 thread Xeon X5670 @ 4.44GHz system. It's a lot faster than Win10, and I don't like the touchscreen like design of Win10.

    • @soopasoljah
      @soopasoljah 6 лет назад

      Cuzeg Spiked didn't MS end support for win 7 and earlier on the newer cpus starting w/ kaby & ryzen? Idk if they at any point blocked it completely, but they did say no more support/security/updates if those cpus were detected. Not like it receives that many anyways but that's what I've read over a yr ago. Not sure if they reversed this decision now bc of all the flack they were getting for it.
      But MS _really_ really wants everyone, their whole userbase to make the switch, w/ all its spyware + telemetry, sooner rather than later. They're doing all that they can. And you can tell just by how hard they're constantly pushing for it e.g. this type of cheap tactic just mentioned, offering it as a free upgrade to 7 users, always highlighting the growing # of win10 users, etc. They really want your data as a secondary revenue stream.
      Unfortunately I'm on it too atm, but I've disabled all that as much as I possibly could. There are ways to do so and programs that help. But besides that, it really is just so resource-hoggy w/ so many bg processes/services I have to disable on start-up. Each new windows edition does req higher & higher specs but this takes the cake. It's so bloated that performance has no choice but to slow down. Kinda regret making the switch. It does have some perks, but meh it is what it is.
      I have a feeling once they do get everyone on win 10, and lock them into it, they're gonna start making windows a service too, charging a sub fee, just like they did w/ office. Once that happens I'm out. Either going back to an EOL unsupported win 7 or going full linux & just hope things like wine get better. The library of games w/ native linux support is growing by the day and if enough ppl do make the switch & start abandoning Windows in droves, devs (and gpu driver support) will be forced to cater to the market. Or rip pc gaming. Consoles & mobile it is.
      Or ppl will just accept it like they always do and just pay yearly, saying it cant be helped, just how it is now. Everything is becoming a service. Or perhaps piracy will see a renaissance.

      @soopasoljah 6 лет назад

      Tech Suvidha well it kinda does. Not too sure about graphical quality tho. Depends on which setting. Some do, some don't.
      But he had other bottlenecks in the system way before it ever got to the cpu. Mainly ram & mobo (pcie, chipset, etc) bottlenecks. Bc of that, increasing res also did nothing as those bottlenecks didn't change. It was its limit no matter what. Higher res requires even more (system) ram actually.
