My friend bought the Q6600 back in the day while I choose the E6550 which I could overclock higher and since games then didn’t use 4 cores my CPU was faster and cheaper. We were 20 years old back then, feel like ages ago, impressive that it still runs some games. Back in 2007 a 15 year old CPU would have been an Intel 486 33mhz or something like that and wouldn’t even been able to handle Windows XP let alone Windows Vista or 7 or play games. CPUs become obsolete much faster back then. I used to upgrade every couple of years and get huge performance improvements.
Had this CPU back in 2007, it was beast and had so much room for overclocking. This was the go to CPU for everyone’s build even more than the 5800x3d or 7800x3d is now.

There were 2 versions of the Core 2 Quad 6600, the 95 Watt and the 105 Watt version - The latter supported VT-x (virtualization software ran much faster and securely on the 105 Watt ver). But was replaced by the 95 Watt version a few months later so it did not compete with the Q6700. Also each L2 cache is shared between 2 cores, so 8MB cache really is not a full 8MB of cache as it is divided
@@burrfoottopknot I have Q6600 G0 (95w) and it has VT-x. What it lacks is SSE4.1. With a stock heatsink 3GHz is easily achieved and with a mid-range heatsink 3.4GHz. Everything 100% stable. The difference in performance between the C2Q is basically made by the frequency. Compared to a QX9650 at the same frequency, according to my benchmarks, this one only beats it by +-1%.
I've bought one in 2008 for less than 200 euro. The g0 version which was really good in OC. Just by oc ing the bus I overclocked it to 3 ghz with no problems. But back then you didn't need that for gaming so i've mostly used it on 2.4 ghz

Q6600's main advantage was overclocking. At it's time, all the dual cores had much higher per core performance but when multicore threading became a thing, Q6600 began to fare far better with overclocking and left them all in the back. I personally ran mine at 3,2-3,4ghz overclock and paired with an 750ti and then 1050ti, It did a very good job at running all the modern titles in 720p; 1080p was doable as well, although to get stable 60fps a bit of sacrificing was required. I did swap later to 1080p and mid or mid/low settings managed to run almost anything I threw at it with stable 60 frames paired with 1050ti. All in all, along with the LGA775 platform - I consider it one of the best CPU's in history. They had a bit of a rough start but with advancing tech and programming they became pure gold, even years after their release.
there was no need at the time. 4 cores was already pushing it. And it would have had no effect on gaming at the time. companies don't really make products for aging better 15 years down the line Plus, core 2 quads were already expensive enough anyway when they launched
Core 2 CPUs were just modified Pentium 3 mobile CPUs, so HT was incompatible with Core 2 CPUs. Intel needed a new architecture if they wanted HT back without using the Netburst architecture, and that’s where Nehalem came in.
H/T would sometimes turn the P4 into hot garbage to the point it ended up with a bad rep. When Intel released the Pentium D dual cores, they made sure to disable H/T. Then Intel marketed the Core 2 series as being so powerful that it didn't need Hyperthreading..... then reversed course with Nehalem while saying they had cleaned H/T up.
Wasnt HT on the P4 only a thing because of the insanely long execution pipeline and in not too few cases resulted in mediocre results depending on the code? At any rate, it wasnt anything like HT on later CPUs with actual parallel executing pipelines.
This CPU really deserves an OC to 3 to 4GHz and run on W7 where it really belongs. But it is a real shame that it doesn't support SSE4.1 to test newer titles. That said, hope you can test a Q9xxx for a future video.
I have a Q9550 with a r9 280x! Is performing perfectly! Microsoft flight simulator, Red dead Redemption 2, F1 2021, GTA V in ultra, etc… For the age that the processor has, and his price… is outstanding!
That's insane, had you mod your Q9550? If yes , how high did the clock speed get? Has there diff with the volt? Hb the temp? I'm planning on modding my q9550 also
Hi! No mods were! No overclocking whatsoever( I don’t understand enough… and I don’t what it to push). I suffer from small fps drops in f1 and red dead(very rare) and some rare big drops in Microsoft’s flight simulator. It’s the price you have to pay… that are the only problems ,without that, it works perfectly! If game developers put effort in game optimization and with a little bit of overclocking, these games would run sooooomth!
it just changes the fsb to 333 (up from 266), so while it does work a person can also just change the fsb in their bios and get better results. The taping over a pin "hack" is mostly useful for oem machines with limited bioses (although things like setfsb can also get around that).

I'd like to see you make a video on the Intel i3 530 (Duo Core, 3.0 Ghz) which was the first i3 cpu to be ever released and I still have that as a Secondary Cpu but would like to see how different games run on this 10 year+ old cpu
@@ivandksd it was way ahead of it's time as most people used it on pentium 4 systems. It ran great especially with sp2 and quad core systems with 4gb ram+. For IT, vista/server 2008 brought tons of new features that is still used today like UAC, HYPERV, a whole rewrite of the network stack / WinHTTP.sys and lots of active directory features

At the time, I had a Core 2 Duo 2.13 ghz with 2 gb of ram and a 512 mb Geforce 7600gs and I did'nt have any issue with running Windows Vista Home Premium on it. Most likely the people who had problems with Vista most likely ran it on single core CPUs with maybe 512 mb to 1 gb of ram and integrated graphics and that most likely wasn't enough to handle Vista well although it may have ran XP well.
Good video. If you are running a Q6600 rig today and have an OEM motherboard then overclock it to 3ghz with a Bsel mod, all it takes is a tiny piece of electrical tape. No voltage increase required.

I was waiting this.I am so attached to this CPU,it was my upgrade coming from a 1-Core Pentium of a 2002 PC that I mostly had for really basic stuff until I changed my mind and got a new PC to start playing some games on it. Curious to see the overclocked experience :) if anybody has this CPU I absolutely suggest trying the overclock with tape (if your PSU and motherboard can run it),you will go from 2.4Ghz to 3Ghz and the fps will increase quite a bit.
Watching this on an old HP Media Center that originally had a q6600! Since I had one laying around I installed a Q9500 in it and it works just fine. Still capable today, with some quirks in windows running natively on a 4K tv lol Picked up a GT 1030 for $30 CAD a few weeks back and its the perfect bottleneck combo!
I remember having a dual core CPU at that time (upgrading from a Celeron CPU thinking WOW) and my friend having the core 2 quad. I always thought, man you have double my cores your computer must be extremely fast!
I remember having one of these on a p43 board back in 2009-2013. Had it clocked to 3.24ghz with 8gb ddr3 1440 c7-8-7-21. Started showing its age around 2012. I remember thinking it was pretty capable until I upgraded to an i5 3330 in 2013.
This kind of systems started to show their age when newer systems didn't encountered slowdown because of front side bus as more and more function were implemented directly inside CPU since Nehalem and PCIe got faster to at least reducing the number of problem related to bandwidth. In addition to the release of newer instructions (AVX.. etc).

@@jayy499 But the platform and IPC was a massive uplift...the Core 2 Quad struggled to play 1080p 60fps youtube videos while the i5 7600 could easily play 4k 60fps youtube video and playback was buttery smooth.
One of the best CPUs ever! Was my daily driver once. Still great today! CORE 2 QUAD(DUO) WILL NEVER DIE! Use DDR3 with these to run Rust. Overclock it and it will go!

I still own the exact cpu and motherboard .The motherboard was a beast back in the day and it came with a labeled ROG audio card by Creative .Last title i played on it was Metro:Last Light with a gtx 260 at 800x600 i think 🤣or 720p don't remember .
Tenho os duo e7500 e e7400, quad q8400, pentium dual e2200, outros 2 pentiums dual core que não lembro o nome, de 1.8 e 1.6ghz, um celeron single core de 3.06ghz, e 2 notebooks com core 2 duo t6600 e t6500. Todos os dual e quad cores são bem rápidos para uso leve.

Uma cpu de 2007 consegue "rodar" alguns jogos atuais em 2022. se você voltasse no tempo, no ano de 2007 e tentasse rodar algum jogo daquele tempo com uma cpu de 15 anos antes, 1992 no caso. Ela não iria servir nem pra instalar o Windows 95, o que dirá rodar algum jogo de 2007.
For me its a legendary cpu and back in the day it costed a kidney :P . Also overclocking this cpu helps A LOT like you can get double the performance if it goes 3.5 ghz + but even 3 ghz makes big difference.! Even modern cpus could not get excellent performance at 2.4 ghz underclock , its really a low clock speed.
I had the exact same cpu paired with a GTX 260, got the PC from my sister in 2012 and used the whole configuration up to 2017 where I finally got some money to buy a modern and decent PC
I ran gta V with this CPU for ages and it is totally fine. You just have to set CPU priority to 'very high' each time on launch in task manager. 'Realtime' priority caused issues but with 'very high' it ran like a dream.

I remember when I played GTA V on Q6600 and GTX 580. Fortunately I had a motherboard that supports DDR3 up to 1333MHz. In addition Q6600 runs on FSB 240 and you can easily overclock it to 3GHz by simply increasing FSB to 300, without touching voltage or anything else.
I bought an entire dell desktop setup (tower, monitor, speakers, keyboard and mouse) for $80 bucks on Craigslist about six months ago. 22" monitor , Q9400 cpu, 8GB 1333mhz ram and a 750GB hdd. Put linux mint on it and installed a radeon HD 7770 I had on a shelf. It's my actual personal PC. The one I keep my important documents on and file taxes with. It's a rock solid and cheap pc.
I remember when these were first released and were some of the most sought after CPU's. It was the CPU I dreamed of being able to have lol. Now, of course, they are a little bit cheaper, but still can be tricky to find. That said, probably not worth finding except for retro gaming now
I very much admire channels like yours. Sure its cool to see what the latest and greatest PC hardware is capable of, but Its meaningful to more people to see what older hardware can still do. Could make someone still on an older computer reconsider whether they need to rush out and buy a new one just to get gaming with their friends. Or those in the worst of cases could find a cheap PC on ebay, or other second hand markets, and with some research throw together a decently capable budget rig. I've used a similar performing amd phenom 9650 quad core cpu, for 4 years tho it underperforms the q6600 by a bit. Put a gt610 in it and I was able to play minecraft with playable fps, and surprisingly good fps with optifine and low settings. Keep it up :D
65nm, hard to believe with all the 7, 11, and 14nm today. My laptop from 2009 had a 45nm Core2 Duo P7450 paired with 4GB of RAM and a Geforce 9600m GT with 512mb of GDDR2 RAM. It wasn't perfect, but I used that laptop to play L4D1/2, WoW, Batman Arkham Asylum, and Mass Effect 1/2 (2 actually ran much better than 1). It was never a perfect computer, but it really served me well for a long time.
My wife runs our axolotl twitch stream on a pc that is using a q6700 and the motherboard uses ddr3. They're super old cpus but those core 2 quads can perform surprisingly well in some scenarios.
At this moment, i'm using this Q6600 with GTX 650 2GB and 4Go DDR2 on the MSI MS-7529 board. O/C @3.06Ghz and DDR2 667 @ 850Mhz (Tried at 1022Mhz but got random BSOD on heavy load... Not possible to change voltages on the mobo). Still a great rig for older games!
Never had a Q6600, but did both the Q9650 & Q9550, as well as Q9400, the 1st two runs Windows 10 Pro 22H2 x64 decently. The Q9400 is restricted a bit more, Windows 8.1 install would crash the BIOS, so may not ran Win 10. Still ran Windows 7 Ultimate though & fast at that on a HP SFF 5800 (believe the right model). Although a quad CPU, the Q9400 doesn't have 12MB L2 cache, rather 6MB & may be the difference. Released 2 years before Win 7, a decent option, as long as one had the max of DDR2 RAM sticks. On the other hand, the Q9650-9550, these will run 16GB RAM & with a card that draws it's power out of the GPU slot, isn't bad. Q9650 is overclockable & would give many 1st gen Intel Core CPU's a run for it's money, as it was a $300 (or so) model. The Q9550 was almost as fast for much lower price.🤣🤣 I used to pick up Dell & HP OEM machines on recycle collection days & would piece together 3 PC's out of 5, if lucky!💪These, I'd sell for a fair price, and have upgrade cash for my own PC's & laptop. How I bought my 1st SSD!!!💯💯💯
To have a bit better experience with q6600 you need a good OC motherboard and a good cooler. So you can OC the shit of this CPU. Now the worst part is that it is hard to find a good OC motherboard for LGA 775.
Note hyper-threading was a thing before this time. I had a Pentium 4 HT 3.06 CPU with Hyper-threading (upgrade I made on an old Dell Dimension 2400). I don't know why Intel and AMD ignored Hyper-Threading for a while when they started pushing multi-core CPUs. Note your Core 2 Quad is actually two Core 2 Duo CPUs on the same die. That's why they needed so much power for the performance- it's actually two whole CPUs even though it's on one socket.
The problem with cyberpunk is the lack of sse 4.2. There's a patch for it to work, and I've seen reports of it being playable on later models of core 2 quad at 30fps, but I don't know about the q6600, as it also lacks sse 4.1 and is weaker.
i'm using this CPU right now, running Windows 10, 8gb DDR2 Ram, AMD Radeon HD5800, generic 500gb SSD etc It's absolutely fine for most tasks and can play older steam games no problem. I would like an upgrade but rarely use my PC to be honest. I game on consoles instead.

I have Core 2 Quad Q9650 overclocked to 4.1 Ghz with 8 GB 1066 Mhz CL5 RAM and GTX 680 and it's running pretty good for it's age. Now it has GTX 1060 6 GB and runs even better but GPU usage with 1060 is 70-90% so CPU is not powerful enough.
I had a Q6600 in an old office pc that we barely use once every 5-6 months but until a few months ago I was still occasionally using a modded Xeon X5460 (3.16Ghz ,12mb cache), 8GB of RAM, with an HD7850 2GB. I had easily reached 3.6Ghz but suddenly one day the ASUS motherboard died. If I find a cheap but decent enough S775 motherboard I might try to revive that system because it was still fine for occasional use. Actually at some point I had even used to for some of the online classes I was giving and it did the job fine without any problems. I am really looking forward to the OCed video on the Q6600

@@Lostcontroller Fair play to you, i retired my q6600 in 2013 when i upgraded to core i7 4770 which is the cpu i will probably use for 1 more year.
q6600 taught me the component you should invest the most money in is the CPU. A good CPU should be able to carry you through 2 or 3 GPU upgrades.
My dad was using this CPU as well witn an SSD until i lend my R7 2700 and finally made him switch to AMD again, also now has my 1060 6gb.

yeah that revision / stepping was the best, those days are long gone when you could OC a CPU by 600MHz or more on a stock system sadly

naw i only got up to 3.6ghz, was aiming for 4ghz, but i could only get 4ghz on my e8400 core 2 duo.. which performed way better than the q6600

With a Q9650 Ocked at 3.5-3.6 you would see a lot of improvements! It's still a really good old QC CPU

If I recall correctly, there's a Duct Tape Hack that you can do to that CPU to improve performance.

Funny thing is the 8Mb L3 cache was once a whole hard drive size.

I actually remember when I built my first gaming PC in early 2001 with a 1 GHZ Pentium III cpu, this was before Windows XP was released, so at that time, I could say that Windows ME was the latest and greatest operating system in early 2001.

@@excess.subiefl0w True that, I'm sure back in 2007, if you ran Windows Vista on a PC with a Core 2 Quad CPU and a GPU with at least 512 mb of Vram and 2 to 4 gb of system ram, then most likely Windows Vista would have ran like a champ. At the time, I had a Core 2 Duo 2.13 ghz with 2 gb of ram and a 512 mb Geforce 7600gs and I did'nt have any issue with running Windows Vista Home Premium on it. Most likely the people who had problems with Vista most likely ran it on single core CPUs with maybe 512 mb to 1 gb of ram and integrated graphics and that most likely wasn't enough to handle Vista well although it may have ran XP well.
He should definitively try a core2quad qx9650 with rtx 3090ti. This combination is fire.🔥🥵
Good video. If you are running a Q6600 rig today and have an OEM motherboard then overclock it to 3ghz with a Bsel mod, all it takes is a tiny piece of electrical tape. No voltage increase required.

Yes! I was waiting this.I am so attached to this CPU,it was my upgrade coming from a 1-Core Pentium of a 2002 PC that I mostly had for really basic stuff until I changed my mind and got a new PC to start playing some games on it.
Curious to see the overclocked experience :) if anybody has this CPU I absolutely suggest trying the overclock with tape (if your PSU and motherboard can run it),you will go from 2.4Ghz to 3Ghz and the fps will increase quite a bit.
Watching this on an old HP Media Center that originally had a q6600! Since I had one laying around I installed a Q9500 in it and it works just fine. Still capable today, with some quirks in windows running natively on a 4K tv lol Picked up a GT 1030 for $30 CAD a few weeks back and its the perfect bottleneck combo!

I remember having a dual core CPU at that time (upgrading from a Celeron CPU thinking WOW) and my friend having the core 2 quad. I always thought, man you have double my cores your computer must be extremely fast!
I remember having one of these on a p43 board back in 2009-2013. Had it clocked to 3.24ghz with 8gb ddr3 1440 c7-8-7-21. Started showing its age around 2012.
I remember thinking it was pretty capable until I upgraded to an i5 3330 in 2013.
This kind of systems started to show their age when newer systems didn't encountered slowdown because of front side bus as more and more function were implemented directly inside CPU since Nehalem and PCIe got faster to at least reducing the number of problem related to bandwidth.
In addition to the release of newer instructions (AVX.. etc).
I still use 2nd generation i5 and first generation i5 and i7

@@jayy499 But the platform and IPC was a massive uplift...the Core 2 Quad struggled to play 1080p 60fps youtube videos while the i5 7600 could easily play 4k 60fps youtube video and playback was buttery smooth.

I used to have it, upgraded only because it didn't supported new instructions sets, it was powerful enough for me.

On the minecraft part, you disabled settings on the "performace" tab that actually made the game run smoother

One of the best CPUs ever! Was my daily driver once. Still great today! CORE 2 QUAD(DUO) WILL NEVER DIE! Use DDR3 with these to run Rust. Overclock it and it will go!

@@CollynPlayz yes it did, as it had a northbridge based design it had DDR, DDR2 and DDR3 support, and maybe it is possible to make a northbridge supporting DDR4, lmfao, check out the DDR3 based LGA 775 Asus P5P43TD-Pro a motherboard I own.

I still own the exact cpu and motherboard .The motherboard was a beast back in the day and it came with a labeled ROG audio card by Creative .Last title i played on it was Metro:Last Light with a gtx 260 at 800x600 i think 🤣or 720p don't remember .
I used to have a Q8300 back then, and I remember having it with a Radeon HD 6870. Ran Last Light pretty good at medium 1920x1200

You have to remember the most popular phone when this thing came out was like a Moto Razor. The original. This CPU overclocks easy to 3.0 Ghz.

Tenho os duo e7500 e e7400, quad q8400, pentium dual e2200, outros 2 pentiums dual core que não lembro o nome, de 1.8 e 1.6ghz, um celeron single core de 3.06ghz, e 2 notebooks com core 2 duo t6600 e t6500.
Todos os dual e quad cores são bem rápidos para uso leve.

For me its a legendary cpu and back in the day it costed a kidney :P . Also overclocking this cpu helps A LOT like you can get double the performance if it goes 3.5 ghz + but even 3 ghz makes big difference.! Even modern cpus could not get excellent performance at 2.4 ghz underclock , its really a low clock speed.
I had a Q6600 for years, it really was a beast. I think i used it for something like 7 years until i got a 6700k.
i built E8400 system in 2oO9-2O1o, it aged faster than a milk, started to build 4930K system in 2o14
Still have my q6600 I got from my uncle years ago. Kept me entertained till 2018 now with my sis but it's on life support now.
I had the exact same cpu paired with a GTX 260, got the PC from my sister in 2012 and used the whole configuration up to 2017 where I finally got some money to buy a modern and decent PC
I ran gta V with this CPU for ages and it is totally fine. You just have to set CPU priority to 'very high' each time on launch in task manager. 'Realtime' priority caused issues but with 'very high' it ran like a dream.

i used a q6600 system until i upgraded to an r5 3600 based system in 2019! i still have all of that pc's parts in their original packaging.

I remember when I played GTA V on Q6600 and GTX 580. Fortunately I had a motherboard that supports DDR3 up to 1333MHz. In addition Q6600 runs on FSB 240 and you can easily overclock it to 3GHz by simply increasing FSB to 300, without touching voltage or anything else.
q6600 uses a 266mhz fsb. Changing it to 300 will give you a 2.7ghz clock. You need to increase it to 333mhz to hit 3ghz (ie. it uses a 9x multiplier).

I bought an entire dell desktop setup (tower, monitor, speakers, keyboard and mouse) for $80 bucks on Craigslist about six months ago. 22" monitor , Q9400 cpu, 8GB 1333mhz ram and a 750GB hdd. Put linux mint on it and installed a radeon HD 7770 I had on a shelf. It's my actual personal PC. The one I keep my important documents on and file taxes with. It's a rock solid and cheap pc.

I remember when these were first released and were some of the most sought after CPU's. It was the CPU I dreamed of being able to have lol.
Now, of course, they are a little bit cheaper, but still can be tricky to find. That said, probably not worth finding except for retro gaming now

I very much admire channels like yours. Sure its cool to see what the latest and greatest PC hardware is capable of, but Its meaningful to more people to see what older hardware can still do. Could make someone still on an older computer reconsider whether they need to rush out and buy a new one just to get gaming with their friends. Or those in the worst of cases could find a cheap PC on ebay, or other second hand markets, and with some research throw together a decently capable budget rig. I've used a similar performing amd phenom 9650 quad core cpu, for 4 years tho it underperforms the q6600 by a bit. Put a gt610 in it and I was able to play minecraft with playable fps, and surprisingly good fps with optifine and low settings. Keep it up :D
65nm, hard to believe with all the 7, 11, and 14nm today. My laptop from 2009 had a 45nm Core2 Duo P7450 paired with 4GB of RAM and a Geforce 9600m GT with 512mb of GDDR2 RAM. It wasn't perfect, but I used that laptop to play L4D1/2, WoW, Batman Arkham Asylum, and Mass Effect 1/2 (2 actually ran much better than 1).
It was never a perfect computer, but it really served me well for a long time.
you should try the BSEL mod (tape mod) it is a rewarding simple mod and will make the CPU run at 3Ghz instead of 2.4Ghz...
i ran a q6600 at 3ghz on a ddr3 board as htpc streaming client for a while and it was pretty snappy compaired to the ddr2 board that it came out
My wife runs our axolotl twitch stream on a pc that is using a q6700 and the motherboard uses ddr3. They're super old cpus but those core 2 quads can perform surprisingly well in some scenarios.

At this moment, i'm using this Q6600 with GTX 650 2GB and 4Go DDR2 on the MSI MS-7529 board. O/C @3.06Ghz and DDR2 667 @ 850Mhz (Tried at 1022Mhz but got random BSOD on heavy load... Not possible to change voltages on the mobo). Still a great rig for older games!
Bought one in fall of 2007 and still use it every day to this day. Though, overclocked to 3.55GHz.
I'd love to see a version of this with an i7 3930k or one of the other X79 6-cores - In 10-11 years those things have aged brilliantly

I bought that exact CPU for 35€ recently and I'm planning on benchmarking it!
Never had a Q6600, but did both the Q9650 & Q9550, as well as Q9400, the 1st two runs Windows 10 Pro 22H2 x64 decently. The Q9400 is restricted a bit more, Windows 8.1 install would crash the BIOS, so may not ran Win 10. Still ran Windows 7 Ultimate though & fast at that on a HP SFF 5800 (believe the right model). Although a quad CPU, the Q9400 doesn't have 12MB L2 cache, rather 6MB & may be the difference. Released 2 years before Win 7, a decent option, as long as one had the max of DDR2 RAM sticks. On the other hand, the Q9650-9550, these will run 16GB RAM & with a card that draws it's power out of the GPU slot, isn't bad.
Q9650 is overclockable & would give many 1st gen Intel Core CPU's a run for it's money, as it was a $300 (or so) model. The Q9550 was almost as fast for much lower price.🤣🤣
I used to pick up Dell & HP OEM machines on recycle collection days & would piece together 3 PC's out of 5, if lucky!💪These, I'd sell for a fair price, and have upgrade cash for my own PC's & laptop. How I bought my 1st SSD!!!💯💯💯

To have a bit better experience with q6600 you need a good OC motherboard and a good cooler. So you can OC the shit of this CPU. Now the worst part is that it is hard to find a good OC motherboard for LGA 775.
You could oc it to 3ghz at stock settings without any issues.
Note hyper-threading was a thing before this time. I had a Pentium 4 HT 3.06 CPU with Hyper-threading (upgrade I made on an old Dell Dimension 2400). I don't know why Intel and AMD ignored Hyper-Threading for a while when they started pushing multi-core CPUs. Note your Core 2 Quad is actually two Core 2 Duo CPUs on the same die. That's why they needed so much power for the performance- it's actually two whole CPUs even though it's on one socket.

I've been using a VIA C4650 with a GT 1030 while playing CS:GO. I've been seeing FPS ~12-30 at 1080p. The Q6600 thoroughly kicked my CPUs butt.

The problem with cyberpunk is the lack of sse 4.2.
There's a patch for it to work, and I've seen reports of it being playable on later models of core 2 quad at 30fps, but I don't know about the q6600, as it also lacks sse 4.1 and is weaker.
Yeah, I've seen that it's possible to play it on the 9000 series but not the 6000

It's absolutely fine for most tasks and can play older steam games no problem.
I would like an upgrade but rarely use my PC to be honest. I game on consoles instead.
Man I do miss these good old days when you could actually buy a mid range mobo or cpu for 50-60eur and a solid gpu for 90-100eur.

I have Core 2 Quad Q9650 overclocked to 4.1 Ghz with 8 GB 1066 Mhz CL5 RAM and GTX 680 and it's running pretty good for it's age. Now it has GTX 1060 6 GB and runs even better but GPU usage with 1060 is 70-90% so CPU is not powerful enough.
I had a Q6600 in an old office pc that we barely use once every 5-6 months but until a few months ago I was still occasionally using a modded Xeon X5460 (3.16Ghz ,12mb cache), 8GB of RAM, with an HD7850 2GB. I had easily reached 3.6Ghz but suddenly one day the ASUS motherboard died. If I find a cheap but decent enough S775 motherboard I might try to revive that system because it was still fine for occasional use. Actually at some point I had even used to for some of the online classes I was giving and it did the job fine without any problems.
