For all the bad shit on this planet, music is the pure innocence whereby it induces raw, primordial feeling. Devin strikes this chord better than anyone else (subjectively) with his live performance being unprecedented, in my opinion.
I just saw DTP with BTBAM. It was my third time seeing DTP and I gotta say, he is a positive dude. Really makes you laugh and smile. He said that they wanted to show that heavy metal can come from a place of love. You'd never hear that at any other metal show! The other time I saw them with BTBAM he told us to hug the person next to us. He is truly inspirational.
I'm seeing him and BTBAM for the for the first time in just a few hours!!! Devin definitely hits me in the feels like not many other bands I listen to.

Never listened to metal before, never heard of him until a couple of hours ago watching some vocal coach reacting to his voice and what a voice, what a track! This is not just thrashing of guitars, I'm a bit stunned at how easy this is to listen to. Phenomenal!
Welcome :-). Devin's music is a bit all over the place (in a good way!) so there's a tonne of variety. Metal is a very diverse genre generally. A lot of symphonic metal (bands like Nightwish and Epica) are quite accessible for people with non-metal tastes, ditto with progressive metal (e.g. Dream Theater and Haken - Haken's music, like Devin's, is extremely broad). You do often get sucked down a rabbit hole and end up listening to the heavier stuff as well - once you figure out bands like Meshuggah they become strangely hypnotic.
