Automatic Pig Waterers… will these work?

So here are two automatic waters that I am building and I was wondering do you think we will have issues with the pigs trying to get into the water and to the other side. I have a workaround for it but was just wondering if you were thinking we would have an issue.

A board across the center blocking the view to the other side should do the trick

Yeah hogs are smart, I don’t know about automatic water though would make wateriest them easier, if you put containers at the eves on the barn you can catch rain water to. Your containers need something in them to kill mosquito larva to.

Well..... when I raised hogs I used 55 gallon drums with an opening cut out the same way and the drum strapped to the fence.... I am thinking a 2x12 across the center blocking the view through would work as a barrier and a sight barrier you could just use rough cut lumber

I think they will be trying to get inside the water trauf. Reinforce the opening with wood or steel

Just put you a fake wire in the middle if they in a hot fence they will think it's hot also.

Never raised hogs but dogs and cats would make a mess of that water in very short order. Personally, I love the base setup but I would have used side watering trays / troughs instead of a cutout. Removable troughs are a lot easier to clean than the tank will be .
Determined dogs would go straight through the openings - boars are stronger and much more territorial. I'd definitely want a barrier between the sides to keep them from seeing each other.

Hogs turn over water if in small containers. Hogs water will be muddy even if you clean the Waterers everyday

I think your bigger issue will be them wanting to get INTO the water.
