Hello Drew and Rhonda: I hear the baby chicks, they are so sweet, please show us your flock sometime.
I love punch needle but have never tried it, maybe I should. I prefer a land line at home, the sheep are so cute.
Your box turned out perfect, you have so many adorable pillows, they look perfect in the basket. We have Robins, many some even stay around for the winter here in Minnesota, we have ornamental trees with berries, they eat berries in the winter. Love the Robin design, I just bought God Shed His Grace and Bumble Bee 3 from you, I have to wait till Easter Sunday to stitch I gave up stitching for Lent. I am a one at a time stitcher. Great box finds, I like the frame idea. Love the cat finish, perfect, I have seen many wood barn quilts in Minnesota, see you soon. Congratulation on getting more subscribers.
We'll have to show the flock sometime. I'll try to get a good picture of them when they're out free ranging. You should try punch needle - it's a fun craft and compared to cross stitch you can finish a project very quickly! I don't know that I could give up stitching for Lent. That would be a hard one for me. But I guess that is the point - it's not supposed to be easy. I'm monogamous stitcher. I like to start and finish before moving on. Your spring set is really nice. I love looking for the robins every spring. We have had them here in Ohio for several weeks. I love your t-shirt. Drew is good at coming up with great projects. If I lived closer I'd have him repair my sweeper.

When I was in high school 1976. The girls were all given a lane cedar chest box. It was a promotional to sell full sized ones. I still have mine.
My mom called this morning and said she still had hers too. I knew about the boxes and that they were given out to girls in high school but had forgotten about it. Then when I opened the box and saw it was a Lane I remembered. I should have looked at it closer in the store! I wonder when they stopped giving them out? I graduated in 1985 and we didn't get them. I'm afraid Hope Chests just aren't a thing anymore although I think they should be!
Your patterns are lovely. The Lane chests used to be given you High School senior girls for graduation. You would receive a certificate and take it to the furniture store where you would pick up your box. I still have mine and I graduated forty nine years ago this June! I can hardly believe I’m saying that. I’ve kept so many treasures in my Lane box. And yes, it still smells like cedar.
When I brought the box home I hadn't paid any attention to what it actually was until I opened it up to show on the video. My mom still has her box. I knew the story behind them but had forgotten all about them. I wonder when they stopped gifting them? I graduated in 1985 and we didn't get Lane boxes.
Most people don’t know that about the boxes now. Wonderful that you Mother still has hers, too! I don’t know when they stopped. I’m going to research. Many companies gave away lovely gifts for promotion back in the day.

The buttons are cute as accents. I like the stitching better. Maybe if there was a big bee the bee scape could go next to the bee and not be the main focus.

That's a good idea. I might have to try finishing the inside of the lid sometime. If I find a really nice box with a great finish on the lid that would be perfect as I struggle covering up something that is already nice!

Beautiful punch needle piece. I do a lot of punch needle. I think I do more punch needle now then I do Crosstitch. I just love the look of punch needle and the fact that I don’t have to concentrate on what I’m doing as much as Crosstitch where you have to be or at least I do , quite so I can count right. Anyway you did a nice job on your punch needle piece
I'm a newbie when it comes to punch needle. I have tried it in the past and decided to get it out again. I love how it looks and I agree, you don't have to concentrate like you do with cross stitch. Thank you for watching!

From what I can find on line the boxes were given from 1925 through 2004. The problem with distribution became a problem starting in 1980’s when furniture companies could not readily obtain names and addresses of many graduates. I’m thinking maybe privacy laws?
We must have read the same thing! I researched them too. I knew they had been gifted to senior girls but I didn't know much more than that. My mom just gifted me hers. I graduated in 1985 and didn't receive one. It was interesting to learn about them!
