I think someone else was tinkering with it as batteries don't normally hold out that long and the truck hadn't lost it's prime. Sure nice to hear it come back to life again. Back then the engines in these trucks would sing and whistle so sweet. Today they sound so tinny.
Old drivers never die, they just get a new Peterebuilt. Love the cat motors!! They really do purrrr. Looks like that old Werner truck is ready for another million miles; sounds good!?
It will still be running when much of this computer laden stuff that's here now will be in the junkyard.

My freightliner had set for three years and the batteries were still good. The CAT fired right up.

Guys, if you want to park the truck for a long time, please, PLEASE put a rubber taurp under the truck to protect the low part of the truck from moisture, this dirt cheap thing will prevent alot of rust issues and corrosion, not to mention that if you consider to sell it the new owner will have far less things to fix on it and make him happy.

That good engine is about $20k. It had a lot cosmetic issues but it would make somebody a good starting out truck. Great quality video.
20k? You can pick up those with 3406 E or 3406 B around my neck of the woods on the east coast for 3-5000 running and driving
@@jjp1117 that's the way always went for me. if II needed an engine that I could buy for 5 or 6 grand normally, I could never find one when I needed it back on the road yesterday and the truck was a thousand miles away.
3406 my favorite. Had a w900 tuned to the hilt, bigger injectors turbo etc. behind an eaton 18 with 3.73 rear end. 👍 That thing was a beast. Crack that thing at 60 bobtailing and pull away from sports cars. Insane power. Buddy got one of the new 600 cummins, he couldn't evan come close loaded down (Overweight) Gvw probably around 110,000lb hauling bauxite and magnesium slag up and down those PA mountains... Rather have that truck than a lambo. Miss that damn thing 🙂 And the sound of that 3406 holy fck. Easy on fuel as well if you know how to drive it right. On the other hand keep your foot in it you'll run through both tanks in no time🤣

Very smart to whoever disconnected the battery cables, batteries last a long time disconnected.

I had one just like that mine was a 1998 Pete with a super 10 and the Cat motor my truck # 28964 with Werner 2000 that was a very nice truck to drive otr and Dedicated routesI drove her for 2 years before I had to turn her in when I went to a local dedicated Sears run in a Day cab FLD Freightliner My Pete was Super Clean took alot of pride in her.

Hard to beat the 4 & a quarter, the 450, 475, & 550 cat engines. I’ve been around this crap all my life, got more junk Peterbuilt, Kenworth, Freightliner, Western Star, & Internationals than most salvage yards. Here in Southern West Virginia my family owns a trucking company, we hauled coal all over the state lol But no doubt in my mind it was gonna start😝🤷🏼♂️😝
