1975 Autocar Tractor Will It Start?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 26 сен 2020
- These old cummins always start so easy! This truck has been sitting for at least 12 years and who knows how long before it was moved here. Checked the fluids, threw the jumper pack on it and a few revolutions with the compression release pulled then it roars to life! Freeing the brakes turned out to be a bigger job and looks like this has happened before judging by one of the brake shoes
Some maintenance, new rubber and hopefully we have a road worthy tractor! - Авто/Мото
No music, no dogs, no wisecracks...
appreciate this grown up presentation
glad you enjoyed it. few updates posted already
I really love autocar trucks they are my favorite trucks of all time
Wow that old girl sounds good, like she's ready to be hooked to a lowboy or dump trailer and do a hard day's work again.
i love Cummins since 1984 ..
Those Cummins PT injection systems are the best starting diesels ever made!
They really are. all three of my pt cummins trucks fire right up. Check out the latest insley video. It digs but still have some bugs to work out of it.
@@73DiamondReo Some day I will get my FIRST CUMMINS and I will be smiling all the way home..!
Are you going to restore the truck for truck show or hauling trailer
I still see Autocars at landfills and quarrys, Beast of a truck, I worked for a company that had a '72 Autocar that was an absolute tank.
Always loved those big old A-cars! Absolutely classic trucks!
My ex's great uncle had a 69 Autocar with a 250 cummins hooked up to a mack quadraplex transmission...he used it to move houses.....thats how i learned how to drive a truck at 12 yrs old. I was told to drive it or go home .......
Man that's awesome....maybe custom built truck
That was obviously double stick
Was that a 3 and 5 or 4 and 5?
I drove a "72" Twin screw Autocar, 250 cumapart W/No Turbo & a 13 speed W/OD, and it sat on the City Can Spring Suspension, hauled a 1964 Long Neck Dump TRL, and then Put on a Fifth Wheel Sander and State Plow for the winter!
It could smell a Hill coming 10 miles away.....LOL!
im sure it was a dog without the turbo
Always enjoy seeing things like start up after years of neglect, fantastic 👍
its a great feeling to revive them
I’m a Brit living in Bulgaria and all the old trucks are still here and running, most of them have Russian V8 petrol engines with gas conversion
Thanks for visiting my channel. Our other channel Saneauto is much more similar to what your doing here. Its great to see the old Autocar alive again. That was pretty quick starteup for a 12 year sitting.
It shocked me too. Wish the rest of it had been that easy
I worked at a construction company in columbus Georgia back in the late 80s and they had two 1965 autocars DC mixers converted to water trucks ,they had NHC 220 Cummins engines 65000 pound rockwell top mounted rear differentials they were geared 7.24 to 1 ratio. One old man said you can out run them ,but you better not try to out pull them
thats a hell of a reduction
Were they worm drive gear high pinion design?
😲😃😃 those old Ntc are good I still have my old ntc 350 with Compression release, That old autocar looks and sounds tight .
It needed quite a bit of work. Frame is cut apart now
Great find. I love the old style Autocars. A man that I knew had a 73 like that one with a VT 903.
Just beautiful old rig ....paint it up bad ass rig love the sound of it guy buy me had a beautiful AUTOCAR SIX WHEEL DUMP ALL TURQUOISE IN COLOR TWIN STACK AWESOM TRUCK NICE FIND GOOD FOR YOU
I love Autocars,I like to find one and come to live agains.
Cummins like no other diesel motor sound in the world. Great video thanks for sharing.
they do sound good.
Except the number 1 best sounding old school diesel Detroit
Can’t beat the sound of an old Cummins!
i agree. great sounding engine and the jake on high is music!
I remember that truck It was at Big diamond speedway for a little while and it sat for a lot of years by my grandpas garage there me and my grandpa work at big diamond with my uncle to but glad that the truck started up and you have it now👍👍
small world. i didn't take it very far away. i stop up and work on some of the old equipment there occasionally.
I used to ride with my dad in a late 60’s Autocar with a Detroit 318 & a 13 speed. Truck scared the shit out of me, dad didn’t like that the headlights would not stay aligned. Wish I could do it over again!
Wow...You are lucky to get this beast !!!!🤩
Great truck!!! And a cool video! Thanks for posting it!
more to come. thanks for watching
Theres just a something special about these old American trucks, not sure what, but watching them start up like this after years ready to get back to work just does something for ya that warms the soul.
its a great feeling to fire them up after being forgotten about for years. they want to work again! hope to get it home soon to clean it up and get it back on the road
I ran a Auto Car like that for about two weeks hauling logs.
We rented the truck while my KW went down for a engine change.
I did not like the walking beam rear suspension.
For off road use and in the mud, it did really well. The haul roads were brutal.
But out on the paved road ?
The truck almost flipped with a load of logs going around a curve.
My kw pulled that same curve every day with no problems.
I hit the curve running the same speed I always did (55) and the AC literally tilted her left side wheels off the pavement by at least six inches.
(Tractor wheels and log trailer wheels)
I yanked the Johnson bar trailer brakes and that pulled the truck back down.
I'm talking about a truck that had a loaded gross weight of 94,000 lbs.
It about scared me shitless
This happened back many years ago in the 70's while logging in the South Carolina piedmont foothills.
We cut pine plywood logs for Georgia Pacific and was paid tonnage.
To this day when I see one of those damned AutoCars I think about that.
Good luck on your resto 👍
Great truck I think right away about maximum overdrive and Steven kings trucks lol ! 👍😎
got a few of those comments
It will start after DiamondReo shows up . I love it and nice find !
thanks
What a beautiful looking rig! 😍 nice job!
yeah its going to be a fun truck
@@73DiamondReo AWESOME Job 73 DiamondReo, you are a patient man..! I just cant tell you a better Jump Pack, I carry three of them with me, Two made by RESCUE, they are GREEN, found on Amazon, now, and another that has USB-110V-12V that I just keep as a triple spare, so my back seat of my F450 at any give day has THREE jump packs and no passenger and no back seat... Just needed the space more than a seat..!
Usually when a vehicle or piece of equipment sits outside in the elements for some time they tend to become giant bee nests. You’re lucky it wasn’t full of bees. Love the old autocars, keep bringing them back to life and thanks for the video.
it had bees but wasn't too bad on the mice
Es de mi generación, quisiera estar arriba de el, con esos modelos empecé, concervalo es una joya.
Wow, it runs great!
1975 autocar semi truck sitting there long time engine sounds good condition next step drive it home lots of horsepower diesel Cummins engine new tires keep trying baby move own power from the woods
People better enjoy these videos now, because 50 years from now, the trucks from today with the emissions crap on them won't start! lol
yeah wait until all the wires get brittle and the insulation falls off. computers, old DEF, common rail injection that doesn't like the slightest bit of dirt or lack of lubricity. We are turning into a society that just throws things away and buys new when it gets old not to mention people dont know how to fix anything anymore let alone 50 years from now. We need to push trades and teach kids its ok to be part of the working class.
Greetings from Australia, of all the Cummins my favorite is the 903.
All vehicles are far better today than in the past. One can easily get 300k out of a car engine. The plastic parts will fall apart way before the car stops running. I like modern safety like brakes and crumple zones
@@frankbutaric3565 no we had a good mix of old school engines and transmissions with crumple zones and good brakes and all that etc etc.between the eighties up to around '05 give or take. from 2012 to now it's getting out of hand you're not going to be getting 300K out of some of these cars now without spending $1,000 a month in maintenance I know that's an exaggeration but trust me my 1990 Chevy or my 97 Grand Cherokee with a 318 or my 4.0's are going to outlive what's on the road right now or at least what's been coming out since around 2012. Everything's going to little motor all aluminum with turbochargers. Do you know what forced induction does to your engine and what happens if you overheat anything with aluminum once.
Don't worry they'll all be scrapped cause they don't last AT ALL
i like the truck
I had a 1966, silver AutoCar, bought it from a driver who just bought a bar, had a Detroit and a Brownie, 2 sticks on the floor, and a straight stack in the back, just to hear that baby roar. Love AutoCars so I wrote a song about one. This the chorus.
Why did you get rid of it?
I didn't own an Autocar. It's a song about an Autocar, because I liked the Autocar. I wrote songs about the Peterbilt, and others..
Love this find!! Love AutoCar, and those Cummins engines were designed well! Well done!
thanks! be sure to check out the progress
@@73DiamondReo I will!
She's mint! Even the backup alarm still works!
yes it did. I got it pretty far torn apart right now
@@73DiamondReo can't wait to see it when you're done
Motor with decomretion?
@@Roman-navruzi1217 decompression release to make it crank over easier
I love those old autocars ,they were some tough trucks
yes they were!
Great vid! A bit of irony though? This massive “truck” is named “AutoCar”! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The Autocar name goes back to 1898 when the company was founded in Pittsburgh. Some time in the early 1900's they stopped making cars and switched to just trucks. My FiL worked for them from 1921 until 1954 when they were bought by White
You've got right!
Fine looking Autocar. I am very jealous!
Thanks
I am super ENVIOUS, not jealous, 73DiamondReo is doing what I want to be doing every day...!
damn that thing sounds good!
Nice looking truck. Looks like a truck should!
One of the toughest old trucks of the past.....competed with Mack's for off road construction trucks
Holy shit i remember that truck. Used to belong to the company I work for.
its not too far north. hope to have it back on the road by spring if i dont find anything too serious with it.
I didnt work with that particular truck but I know we were very on top of maintenance with everything and that one got sold around the 12 years ago you were saying it has been there since.
@@LANCERLIKEWOAH1 I talked to Mr Miller about it a couple weeks ago and got some of the history on the truck.
That truck actually looks like it be an easy restore project
i guess it depends on what you call easy. check out the latest video
@@73DiamondReo ok I will
#DieselCreek has a younger '80s era Autocar that he uses for hauling all his auction winnings.
Old diesels never die they just go to sleep for a while
after my time in the Army, I was employed at Empire White trucks. Syracuse.
1970, I was 21, I knew next to nothing, I knew cat, if I had to do all over, I would stay
with the truck line. although all these new trucks / emission PC control junk,
no longer what it once was. it was an awesome time. miss it.
take a 1271 Autocar for a joy ride, flew like the wind.
This one guy who owned the tractor had it service where I worked, I didn't do it all
the time, it wasn't easy to service. that tractor was a dragster get up & go,
it would scare you, after that I never bothered to take it out.
That’s a sweet truck! Sounds great
yes it does. thanks for watching Frank
Frank whats your truck have?
Donald Cisney it was originally a shiny 290. I rebuilt it to 350 small cam specs.
Awesome truck !
It sure is!
Started up really good!
it sure did. PT cummins in all my trucks started well. Check out some of the videos of its progress.
Excellent video
Thank you very much!
Man I love it.
So thankful
I’m excited for this one!!
come check it out one day
73DiamondReo planning a road trip with Michelle Perfect and the Captain for November actually. You’re on our list :)
looks in good shape
new video up of the progress today!
When it came down to SUPER DUTY,this was the "cat's meow"!It took a minute to catch those 318s on the flats, but run over them going UP the hills! And if you use #1 diesel,it did with a blue flame coming out of the stack!
that be cool to see
Just ain't right that a truk that beautiful is set out to pasture like that. It would be awesome if someone rebuilt it and put it bak to work, where it belongs. Great job with the vid sir.
working on rebuilding it to pull a lowboy
There's lots of these trucks just waiting to be adopted !
save what i can
You need water for your radiator as when you where trying to crank it over it was smoking from the radiator and don't for get to check the spark plugs and make sure you have plenty of fuel in the tank check your Suzie's your power cables on the back of the truck and make sure that all of your lights are working completely and check your tyres for any cracks or leeks and check your over night heater is working and check that your windows open and close completely and check that your gears are all working
all 28 spark plugs right?
I run the Bosch Platinum in my Cummins.
🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Really enjoy people's videos of saving old equipment. The roof mounted ac unit is neat. What are your plans for this truck?
this might be easier to put back on the road than the 84 Diamond Reo so it might be the lowboy tractor/truck show toy until i can get the Reo done.
@@73DiamondReo Love that truck old Autocars are sweet! With a Cummins and an Eaton-Fuller, you are GOLDEN!
Hard to beat an ole Cummins Powered Acar. 😎 My family ran Compression Release NH & The NTC Cummins powered DC,DK & A model ACars & B, R & DM model Bulldogs.
@@73DiamondReo perfect for a low boy with that HD look
@@B422TMack I have a lot of time in DM’s love the HD models
What a "Princess" that is one to bring back all the way
I'd really like to have that old truck. Been looking for that model for along time. Most are just a shell anymore
they're out there. i believe there is one for sale in central pa right now
Looks like it’s in pretty descent shape!
its ok. has the normal rust for this style cab
Omg
Great truck
thanks there's more videos of her
I worked for a concrete pipe company they had a whole fleet of them they were tough old trucks
hoping to get back on this project soon.
Awesome video !
Glad you enjoyed it
My friend had a 72 Autocar road tractor
Very cool!
Silvestre Stallone 💪🏼👏🏽👍🏽🙏🏽
I want to see some more videos on this truck
there's a few more up and more on the way
Will it start? Of course! That's Cummins!
exactly. all my cummins start well!
About to go ahead and pay to become a diesel mechanic those 15 months wont take long I want to go out and revive old trucks and put them on the road
maybe you can come finish this one also
Quite impressive...I don’t know how much prep time you spent beforehand, but it cranked over quite well and easily. How long did that thing set? The brakes sure stuck, but you got that resolved. The inside doesn’t look too bad either. I remember seeing those rigs quite often while growing up and still see them sitting here and there. Cool trucks. The older trucks are still cooler! Looking forward to seeing more of this rig as it transforms. The Porters of Ohio.🤩
honestly i didn't do anything to it but check the fluids, hook the jumper pack up, pull the compression release and it fired up with very little cranking. last inspected in 05, and i think it was moved to this site about 12 years ago
@@73DiamondReo looking forward to seeing how this turns out, subbed today. Love the old trucks being found and brought back to life, maybe its because I'm 65 and the memory of the old stuff is about all we have left
I wanna learn how to drive those oldies and goodies and learn manual trans driving in general
its not that hard. i have some older videos driving L8000 dump truck
1977, I drove a '65 Auto Car, 335 Cummins, Hendriksen suspension, 15 speed double overdrive with gull wing motor hood. No air seat. Just spring. Beat my youthful back to shit
i bet! thanks for watching
So much I could say on this, I'm a bit shocked at the lite amount of effort to get it running & moving is amazing, unless there's a lot we didn't see prior to this video. Even viewing it months after it was posted as awesome as if it were yesterday.
running was as easy as it seemed. moving not so much. not much entertainment in beating on drums, backing off want slack adjusters and more beating. i edited all of that out or didn't bother to film it
Looks like the Autocar truck from the movie Maximum Overdrive
If your talking about the happy toys rig that was a western star
@@SnowTheTimberWolf👌
@@SnowTheTimberWolf No its the Truck that was chasing the Married couple before the Truck stop
@@anthonyrobertson1787 that was a b model Mack chasing them that blew up . The autocar you’re thing of was the autocar pulling the garbage trailer that runs into the bible salemans car and then dumps garbage onto it
OMG it is unreal how a diesel can just start like it was parked yesterday.
yes more times than not ive had great luck with firing up old equipment. My dragline i had running in less than 30 minutes and have never done anything to the carb
Nice one
Do you know of any mid 1950s Autocar D-75s??? I'm searching for a 1953 - 1958 Autocar D-75 with the integral factory sleeper. Would appreciate any leads you or anyone on here might have. My Dad had one that he used to haul OTR Georgia to Chicago back in the 60s. I loved riding in that truck,... great memories. Looking to find one and doing a resto-mod and putting it back on the road as a daily worker.

The air beep still works o am surprised
4:01 SHE'S ALIVEEEEEEE!!!!! 🤙

Guess the tyres were already pumped up hey ;)
only one way completely flat and full of water. they are tube type so chances of them leaking aren't as high as tubeless.
What's it got under the hood for power ? Being a 1975 model A-car with a beige painted Cummins, my guess is it's probably 335 hp. What are your plans for it? I'd love to see this with some fresh paint, a bit of chrome , a stretched frame and big high-rise double bunk. What a magnificent sight that would be going down the road!
its a 335 with some 350 stuff on it. originally came with a 350 but had some problems and a 335 was swapped in. parts from the 350 were put on this 335 so who know what its got for power
Old steel never dies ! Good video, enjoyed watching! Is the crane next to it a Lorain ?
Nope they are Bucyrus Erie 10B. just posted a video about them last week. check it out!
Good condition
i love how people find a car in the middle of the amazon jungle and throw a battery in it and it starts after 50 years, meanwhile my truck has a flat tire, 2 more rust spots and a new tranny problem since yesterday
45 years sleeping time to wake up ! Thank you for great video.till then keep smiling with lol politely and healthy safely, wake up

Sylvester Stallone drove an Autocar semi like that in the classic movie Over The Top except his was red.
Классная у вас техника
hello, how nice to meet you. I'm from Uruguay .., it's the same truck that Silvester stallone drives in the movie "over the top", correct me if I'm wrong 😉👍
haven't seen the movie
Nice Autocar, I’m guessing you made a package deal with the 10Bs. Are they far from home? Your well on your way to having enough stuff so one more won’t matter.
very close actually. about 25 min
When you say Autocar you say Old Cummins Diesel... You say it wil always start no trouble at all.
Peterbilt and KW might have the name... Autocar had the reliability
Almost loox like the semi from the 80s classic movie "Over The Top" with Sylvester Stallone.
Те старые машины реально легенды, прям гордость берет за прошлое что строили и делали наши деды
Я чувствую то же самое

Is that an Osgood dragline next to the A-car?
no 2 bucyrus erie 10b pull shovels that are coming home with me this year. i have a video up on them as well
