Lmao silent mike givin that gas a little tap like he’s down shifting love the truck brother!
Some Automatics do that automatically
@@enochstutzman8017 You’re right, Greg’s truck has an automated transmission, meaning it is shifted the same as a manual, just electronically. So the ECM does rev match on downshifts
“Ordered tall boys like I do at dinner”- Greg A 2020
Not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but you can manually downshift an Automatic and make her sing. Just hit the down button next to the gear selection and it will force it to drop gears.
love the tall stacks!!! hard wood floors would be cool inside
Even with that auto transmission it sounds so good.
safe to say this is what we’ve all been waiting on 😍
You right
Ik i have been
Yessir!
@@daltonphipps2911 ]the
Don’t get me wrong big ass tall stacks are cool as shit, but daaaaamn son them are way to tall it looks kinda ridiculous, I think you should take it down to atleast 13’ on level ground lol
Not your truck
@@seven_7748 I understand that but most of the time he will ask what the viewers think, this is just my opinion and clearly is many others as well. But thanks for the reply, P.S. I’m glad everyone gets to see your arrogance lol 😂
@@andrewplace2854 i think the pete is something he is.building 110% his way he's even admitted the polish isn't permanent. Although inwould be surprised if the polished stacks stay when.it get blacked out
The only thing I can think of is putting a curve in the pipes or some cover's so the rain doesn't get down them and ruin all that hard work.
I find it funny that all of these people are telling Greg to cover the stacks to keep rain out, as if he doesn’t already have multiple trucks with hood/bed stacks 😂
I installed this setup on a compound w900. I cut a little slit in the crotch of the Y-pipe.. I miss these simple setups. the DEF etc, nano particle super heated. it really sucks now. people sneeze to walk by a modern rig now.
Sounds soooooooo good once you get a manual gear box in it will sound even better, the interior would look fantastic in purple with the black it would so cool and a polished wooden floor.
Just a tip instead of putting pails over the stacks for the weekend, I drilled a 1/8” hole in the lowest part of the Y pipe. The water would drip out in its own.
Lookin and sounding great👍👍
Don't forget to cover the tops of those stacks..keep the rain out
@parkerbethke 8 inch tractor flaps are not cool haha.
@@skating4ad There's no such thing as a wrong opinion... However
Would be cool to make a drain that opens and closes whenever u need it to, right on the bottom of the stack.
I’ll use that automatic till it give out,, than switch it if I wanted too,, but it sounds great
You need a Peterbilt 379 when the zombies attack your city and you need to make a way out of the mess!
Yeah man. Now that truck is starting to look RIGHT. I like how it sits right now, don't think bags are necessary. Just swap out the rear suspension to the Low air leaf
Man...that trucks look way better than before...love the sound...can't wait to hear it..once u put a stick in it...
The exhaust on my kenworth is 14ft tall and I never really have too many issues. I’d just leave them where they are unless you have a area you go a lot with low tree limbs or bridges
At least you have the option now to leave top pipes off, so you can get into the shop to do interior in winter in nice warm garage. Looking classic!
Thank you for taking out the auto and putting in a real truck transmission!! Breath of fresh air.....
The trucks looks beautiful! You have a great job.
Just keep in mind the legal height is 13’6” but there’s no guarantee pavement to the bottom of the bridge is 13’6” it might be different because of the pavement. I would go 13’3” to be on the safe side.
Actually that is common mistake a lot of people make. I did oversized for several years and learned that the overall height is different in every state, there are a lot of states where you can be up to 14’ and sometimes over that in other states to be legal. Most of the midwestern states are 14’.
Can You Imagine Hearing This Pretty Much All Night Long When You Are Trying To Sleep ? I Live Along A 2 Lane Highway In A Shallow Valley And I Have To Run A Fan To Make A Humming Type Of Noise Just To Sleep Or Else The Truck Engine Brake Noises All Night Keep Me Awake , Not Sure Why They Use The Engine Brakes Here . You Can Hear Them Upshifting Later Because They Slowed Too Much Using The Engine Back . Of Course , I Am Behind The Times For Driving Large Trucks . I Drove On And Off Between 1978 - 1996
Keep in mind when you build your exhaust mount it should be on the cab not the frame otherwise the air ride cab will move around and the Fran doesn’t so it will work it apart.
That truck would look even sweeter with Chino cut stacks. Love those coffin box sleepers.
I honestly say keep the automatic, that is wicked nice and healthy !!
Congrats....the truck's turning out real mean looking......it's nice to see it coming along and close to completion!
Even on video, it sounds amazing. I cant imagine what it sounds like live. I like the ride height as well, it looks good going down the road. Stay well and stay safe
PETE SOUNDS SO F**KING GOOD HOLY $H!T FIRE 😂😂🤪
U mean the BIG CAT?
Jesus those are tall af hahah! Damn that seat is high as hell also lol. Can’t wait till I buy my own truck.
Pretty sure you can convert that transmission to a stick without replacing it
Jeff Usher Yes and add the rear gear box will convert it to 13 or 18 speed....all bolt on parts...
@@kygambler22 yeah that’s what I thought plenty of people here in Australia are doing that. Would be a waste to replace the box if it’s still ok
Jeff Usher these auto shifts mostly built for people who could drive trucks but never learn to shift gears.....as in U.S. the need for drivers got so big they started to idiot proof the rigs for truck drivers school.....6 week school and get a cdl and on the road....lol...
@@kygambler22 yes we have the same problem here accept our overseas friends have found a way around our laws that they don’t even need a driving school if they’ve technically driven the same class of vehicle in their own country. Absolutely rediculous their causing all kinds of trouble with their inexperience
Jeff Usher LOL, same here, speak no English and govt will givem a cdl....me and son have large tow trucks......they’re good for business.....always stuck....can’t read road signs......stay safe my friend....
I've been driving semi's for 25 yrs and there is no way I would pull the auto out. I had no idea that it was a auto but that makes it way cooler to me. Sweet rig Greg A nonetheless. It's sure came along way.
That’s because it’s not a true automatic it’s an auto shift still has a clutch no torque converter... The truck is shifting gears for you through a set of servos.
@@thejourneymen7722 yes sir, you are absolutely correct.
You turned your truck into a goddamned field goal.
Ah! Definitely going to need a bigger trailer! Trailer looked enormous behind the dually, but the Pete! Different story!👍🇺🇸
I like it without the tops, with the stacks even with the sleeper
No way dude, looks like he couldn't afford to do the build right then
@@780tunertube7 im just saying its my opinion. And personally I wouldn't care if it LOOKS like I couldn't afford it, I'd just know its what I like
Lol I'm just bugging you man. To each there own I respect that, i would always give it cat stacks. Most people don't like those
@@780tunertube7 same here man. Im for cat stacks 100% im thinking about putting a cat stack on my 12valve
Get some shorter spring hangers for the front and take the blocks out . Nobody rides low anymore they just bag the front and drop it when it's parked . We took the blocks out back in the day . Drove in the north Dakota oil fields and never had any problems .
Sounds pretty good I work on semis and we have a older person that has a n14 plus freightliner older model stick shift and 13 foot and 4 inches tall with 10 inch tips sounds so good can hear him a mile away
My question has been answered. That is an autoshift transmission, which means it's a manual that is shifted by a computer. So, I wonder if it can be converted back to a straight manual so you can keep the trans. Save a little bit of coin perhaps.
Yes it can
@@glennrobichaux7490 thanks. I thought I had seen that somewhere but I could not remember.
I like the short stacks myself. It kind of gets that slick back look
I did not know the autos shift like that . I thought they shifted like a pickup auto. Sounds pritty good.
The auto can be programmed to do just that but I'd junk that bitch asap!
When those guys drive by... your one of them guys now Greg lol
I've wanted to go truckin since I was 5 years old... Nothing's changed. 😀
Hey Greg if you drive the truck then pick “low” on the transmission it will downshift sooner
I usually don't like black trucks but that thing looking pretty sweet with all that chrome. Stacks look good, maybe a little tall.
That truck looks awesome! The stacks are perfect and it sounds very mean.
I'm very green on auto's in big trucks. Amazing how they make them sound and act like a manual trans....
I used to us my Transmission Jack on Exhaust it worked pretty good after all I am a retired Diesel Mechanic LOL Nice Truck love the Exhaust pipes you all put on the Truck Brother
I would put a Eaton Fuller 13 speed in the Pete. Can't wait to see it pulling the trailer and trucks!!
Little resonator helps smooth the sound out . Bigger pipes give deeper sound . Straight piped CATS I never thought sounded good . A resonator will give it a nice throaty sound . That's my opinion
She sounds good, I think she'll sound even better once you guys put the manual trans in
YESSSSSSS! What diameter are the stacks??
It sounds like it has a manual transmission
i believe he said 8”
The Eaton ultra shift is pretty much a manual gearbox that is shifted by the computer
The ultra shift is an automated transmission, has a clutch operated by air and solenoids to shift it
@@ryanespinoza1297 I knew it was something along that line. Company I work for has most of our dump fleet with the ultra shifts and all of us in the mechanic side hate them. Would rather work on the Mack Mdrive where you only need one piece of software to hook up to the whole truck instead of 2 laptops for one truck
That transmissions is what’s called an automated transmission. It has same trans as manual but with a
solenoid bolted on that shifts the trans
Didn’t know Fitzgerald built 379s but the truck is awesome and I drove a truck with 13’10”s on it you good lol !!👊👍👍
I just recently started posting truck content and your videos came up as a suggestion. Its kinda cool to find other truckers on RUclips!
Looks great Greg with being in tennessee and the country ur gonna have to be an inch shorter then legal bc of power lines hanging they droop after years of being up don't wanna see u tanged up in that mess thousand of dollars in fines and repairs insurance will not cover if ur a 1/16 inch off of legal
Dude. The stacks completed that big time! Looks and sounds killer!
HELLO, "HILLBILLY MIKE" HERE, HEY, THE STACKS LOOK GOOD ON THE TRUCK, AND THEY SOUND GREAT, I JUST HAD ONE SUGGESTION - I THINK THAT YOU MAY WANT TO PUT SOME FLAPS OR CURVES ON THE TOP OF THEM STACKS TO KEEP THE RAIN & SNOW & ANY OTHER MOISTURE & OR OTHER FORIEGN STUFF FROM GETTING INTO THEM AND "HEAVEN FORBID" GOING INTO THE ENGINE, BECAUSE, THAT THING SOUNDS TO GOOD FOR THAT CRAP TO HAPPEN. 👍😎
Alot of guys around here use cable from the frame then around the y pipe on each side to hold up theirs. Works fine and alot cheaper than the ones they sell
l Love the fact that they're Flat Tops Stacks... it Looks Awesome
Silent mike is killing all the projects can wait to see him building the drag truck again and the engine. Truck is beautiful love it
You don't need a bracket or hanger to support the Y pipe. I installed 8" Lincoln chrome stacks with the 8" Y pipe and couldn't figure out what supported the pipe until I realized the fit was so tight, no other bracket was necessary. Not sure if that helps, but it took me a while to figure that out.
Hey for those headlights buy the peterbuilt LED panel replacements they go right into the factory holders
Depending on the transmission, you should be able to remove the automated shift cover and put a standard shift cover on it.
24.5 rims with lowpro tires. And bucket them pipes to keep the rain out. Looking awesome for sure!!!!
looks like a West Virginia inspection sticker in the windshield! Hell yeah BROTHER!
Yup he picked it up down near Charleston
don't forget the cab moves up and down on air ride. diff from the frame so you can't put a solid mount from the pipes
You should consider installing an AIR HITCH on the truck before towing the car/sleeper trailer with the PETE. The suspension on the truck with twin screw axles, could damage the trailer frame up front with the hard hits it’s going to get going down the road. Good Vid.
You made me want to build one so badly one day!!! Keep up the great work!
Damn the sound of it gave me goosebumps! That’s music to my ears
😭😭😭you made me cry, I realy love that truck and specially the sound😍😍😍
If it wasn't for the darned commercial license and insurance i would be driving one of these every day and never set foot in any other lesser vehicle 😍😁😄
Safe to say I’m in love with how this is turning out and sound
All the Sounds ....so good, brings a tear to my eye. 🤤🥺😭
An auto AND tiny saddles. Aww it's so cute.
a broom handle attached to an upside down bucket makes for a great rain cover for when she is parked. cheap and easy.
All that work to a truck and no gear shift in the floor! Now my heart hurts! Lol
Hes putting a 18spd back in it
Me personally I prefer stacks that are only like 2 feet above the cab.
That looks rediculous
Sounds sooooo good! I laughed so hard when silent mike slipped on the step 😂
That auto shifts like a manual. Impressive
I was thinking the same thing. It sounds like it's already a manual!!!
That transmission in the truck is not classified as an automatic, it is a manual transmission that is controlled by the computer. It is shifted using mechanical solenoids. The clutch is controlled by a servo motor.
Truck is looking awesome and sounding great....You can try Crutcher Brothers in Lexington for a 13 or a 18spd...Can't wait to see final product...
If you want your Jake's to be snappier there is a way to tune your Jake's so they come on full strength instead of ramping up with a stock tuned motor it starts lower power then ramps up sounds great though
I can’t help but imagine this as the new grocery getter hahah
It does sound like you are manually shifting the truck on the take off. Very nice job guys be safe.
Greg, if your low and mid settings on the jakes are the same, one of the solenoids isn’t working properly. Could be a loose wire.
may i make a recommendation...get some coffee cans and put them over the tips if your not gonna drive it for a while....as much rain as you get it will fill the stacks with water and rot them out...and for the floor i have been in trucks that have pergo flooring in them...super nice just have to velcro your floor mats in place or they will slide around.
I was just teasing you about the fuel earlier 😁. This thing is looking SO sick. Great work.
Looks and sounds great really came a long way
Meanwhile the dually is watching you guys like, damn kids! Hahaha
Smokes the truck out cloud flows out the door damn clam baking lol
This pete action was amazing, super excited with how it turned out for you!
Dude absolutely love the sound hahaha. I find it funny how people have it in for autos yet my auto K200 out pulls K200 with road rangers in them when fully loaded at 60Ton so I think it’s more how you drive it then the gearbox itself
The stacks look super high maybe cause the cab is lower but it still looks badass love the petes Sounds good for an automatic though
From experience, you'll run 13'6" stacks only once.
If you are going for the low look, I suggest that you flip over the mirror bracket so they also will make the actual mirrors a bit lower, you have chops on the side windows anyway. all is need is a huck gun to re rivot brackets back to the door. also if not going to change the doors at least replace the old door handles with new ones, those rusty inside of the handles looks like like crap.
Automatic or not that truck is sweet! I might go the same route when I get my truck. Keep trucking trucker
@16:54 they be so darn tall you can't even see the top of them looking out the window 😄
Lol I can’t believe all this time and you didn’t say it was auto until now, I definitely love how this thing is coming along. Took awhile but man O man is it coming along very nice.
Apparently you’re new here. He said it was an auto when he bought it.
Hey, can you clear the overhead power lines with those stacks! Nice!
Never clicked faster in my life!!
I am in love too.Great truck...this is why i love america!!Greetings from Europe!!Stay safe on a road
Wow it’s coming together nicely and those stacks are the business, sounds is awesome
You don't need the change the transmission you need the change the clutch and the fly wheel. The transmission in a manual and automated transmission are exactly the same except one has a valve body on the top to shift the gears.
Haven’t been keeping up on all the videos, but why didn’t they just finish the inside while it was in the shop?
