@@harleylaughlin2155 don't need a CDL to drive the truck for non-commercial purposes. May need a Class A rather than Class C license but not necessarily a CDL.
@@Ericsaidful - You do need a CDL to drive a combination vehicle and a class B license for anything over 26001lbs so at the very least he needed a class B license to bobtail that truck. I'm sure he has one from how he was driving like someone else noted. He has skill.....
I am no longer a truck driver(thank god after 24 years of it), but train engineer now. I always enjoy seeing a real nice tractor, and hope you post a video highlighting work you do, and of course the final results. Love the color too, I hope you stick with the same blue.

I'm the son of a Road Train driver and I love watching this. This guy gets the beauty of trucks. One of my favorite trucks is actually the Kenworth T909. Beautiful hard working girl that hauls hard. At my Dads work we have an old Kenworth cabover that was made back in the early 60s. Rusty as Shit but it just won't die
Life is crazy. Back in 2019 i saw this video & thought how badass it was to drive & old School Pete & how nice it would be to drive a semi truck. I used to visualize myself in a Pete when i drove my F250. In 2024 i was fortunate enough to get my CDL & i’m currently writing this in the sleeper of my Peterbilt at a rest area in Greeneville,TN on my way to Fort Worth from Philadelphia. Don’t give up on your dreams! Even if it’s to be a janitor or the president. Keep on trucking! 🚛

Since 1997 anyone passing a driving test to drive a car in the uk can legally drive vehicles weighing the maximum weight of 3.5 tons. If we wish to drive any vehicles weighing more than 3.5tons then we have to take a Heavy goods vehicle test. Even if the vehicle is not registered for commercial use.

However if it is a recreational vehicle like a motorhome, camper or if its for farm use you dont need a different license. Didn't know that about the UK with that low of a weight restriction. I love the 379. Probably the best truck I ever drove. Big Cat with an 18 speed and that was the perfect combination to run any type of road across the entire US. It would pull mountains and stretch out over straight flat terrain.
Homestly it doesnt. It needs a new hood, fenders, stacks and bunk. Most of it is either available new for the small stuff or used for the big stuff. The bunk is the biggest issue and that isnt that bad - a used studio sleeper can be had for 5 grand, and can be swapped in a weekend with some help. The cab appears undamaged, and assuming the frame is straight and the drivetrain good, he can put it right for under 10 grand.
@@machinist7230 If he didn't do serious damage to the engine running it without an air cleaner. Yeah, good thing he took dirt roads to run the dust straight into the engine... But yes, if the cab is not racked, dump the sleeper, turn into a day cab, get a boc panel, fender, mirrors, fix the intake, not a lot on this one, other than it's a 98 and probably more than worn out already.
