- Using the Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link Software to perform the 4.5 to 5 HOUR, yes I said HOUR. DOC face plug cleaning procedure. After doing the necessary checks, this procedure should help clear the DOC and DPF pressure fault codes provided there is NO internal damage to the One Box. If this procedure is successful then it will be completed within the 4.5 to 5 hours.

Your page will blow up. !
Ur one of the only ones on RUclips with these kind of short quick informative videos
Great style. U Cut out the Parts we don’t need.
I seen some other guys with great videos but they just press record and let it run through the whole repair.
cj Bassi thank you. I try to make it short and to the point.
Thank you!!! U make it very simple to understand and very informative videos behind each code
Please keep posting engine codes and fixes. Helping me out so much. To learn about all these shop issues. Running 10 trucks and reefers ca Az tx right now. Anything helps appreciate you !!
Came across your channel by accident. Very informative👍🏼. Just subscribe!!!
Sonxai Rasakhamdee thank you.
Great video, valuable information, ease to understand what's going on. Thank you.
Glad you like it.
So I’d like to suggest looking into the cause of the doc to be plugged. For example, egr cooler, possibly oil consumption as a result of blow by or turbo, bad injector causing to much soot. Love your videos. Keep posting.
Thanks a lot, it help me.
Glad I was able to help.
@@CarlosDieselElectric in my case it was a bad fuel, it plug my fuel pump and burned it, so it all came out under that code, but it was not def. I only fuel in good truck stops no hanky panky. 2018 freightliner cascadia 109000 mi. When it happened I only ran 7 mi to the Dealership witch luckily was on my way.
Leo Z bad fuel will definitely activate that fault code during the regen process.
ISX 600 SPN 3610 FMI 2 . 9 times in the past 4 days, Should I replace the DPF Pressure Sensor? also I have donw a manuaul regen already. got the code agian after i switched the key off and on?? Thanks
What version of the software you are using? The one I’m using doesn’t have this option
How many times can you run the face plug cleaning on a truck
Please guide me on how u get your desired pids.
I’ve got the SPN 3251 code but my FMI is 21. Only light currently is the MIL light. No engine or “stop” light yet. I can’t seem to find what it could be with that FMI. Any idea?
I appreciate it
How did you fix that ? I’ve same cods .
Is there a good way to get the Detroit software without having to pay the couple grand? Also my rpm gauge keeps bouncing around by 50 rpm +/- . Any idea what might cause that?
usdpaulp the Detroit software has an annual subscription. You will need a laptop and the Nexiq box. Worth the investment if you are going to be using it on a regular basis. I had to replace my laptop and upgraded my Nexiq so it was expensive. Check eBay, you might find the USB link2 for less. If not go to diagnosticlink.nexiq.com and give them a link.
The RPM gauge, is the engine surging or is the gauge just bouncing?
@@CarlosDieselElectric hey. I have frieghliner m2 isl9 2017 with the same problem. I baked the dpf filter but problem is still present. Can i make appointment if you can take a look? Thanks, I’m located in los angeles
That’s exactly what happened to my truck, I took it to freightliner in Atlanta and they told me it was the engine harness and that it was reading!! I left and an hour later lights went off. I’m nervous and not sure who to take it to to fix, any suggestions????
What fault codes do you have?
Great videos u r a great resource so I have a question i have a 2015 freightliner sd114 with a DD13 it has 700k i just replaced the the dpf because it melted it was the original dpf i had the doc cleaned 1.1 lb of soot removed egr cooler removed soaked in a egr cleaning solution for 24hrs hot pipe and cold pipes delta sensor cleaned sensor replaced ,all of the sensors nox,temp,doc/dpf pressure sensors replaced because when i ran the truck i got dtc 3251 fmi 21 both sensors not plausible???? there r no leaks in the system, there no kinks bends blockage in the pressure tubes because they r new i inspected the filter sensor bungs for blockage they r clear the wiring is good plugs on acm good no corrosion no bent pins no pushed back wires plugs on sensor clean tight in good condition scr voltage shows koeo voltages at 0.46/0.50 manual says thats in spec . So i clear the fault code and i figure maybe the computer needs time to relearn so i drive 50 miles and check engine light turns on , check the lap top 3251fmi21 i can clear the fault there is no derate i continue to drive 50 more mile and the code is back ! Lastly i performed the pressure sensor verification test by running a regen and it past! So what did i miss any suggestion will be greatly appreciated thanks steve.
What are the pressure readings on the DOC inlet? Try running a regen, if the numbers are high this can cause the code. Also the integrity of the DOC might be compromised (restrictions)
Try using a different test ACM or if possible a test One Box from a sister truck.
I know that might be more difficult, trust me.
Yes i have a sister truck bought at the same time i will swap the acm . The answer to your question my DOC pressure 0.018 DPF 0.027 i ran the regen verification and the truck passed
@@CarlosDieselElectric I will update u this is getting interesting thank you for your help steve
@@steves4701 very low pressure. I know this is a lot. But try swapping the One Box with the other truck and test. Could be a bad One Box.
When you first removed and cleaned the One Box. Were the DOC filters pushed forward towards the DPF?
Thanks for the video, I have international with A26 engine i cleaned the filters , and now I have fault: 3251 FMI:0 x1 Differential pressure sensor for particulate filter.I changed the sensor, I try reset the filters but not going throw because of this fault, would you advise please
I have the same issue. What did you do? What was the problem?
Hey any help with code 61/4360/15 says SCR inlet temperature above normal operating range. I just had the emission system cleaned about 2 months ago
I would look at the occurrence, in other words how many times the fault occurred. It could have been a one time thing.
Try doing a parked regen and seeing if the fault codes returns.
apn 3251 it on can i drive 1000 miles?
I keep having to take mine to the FL dealership for the DOC and I’m lucky if I can get 1000 miles in and the damn thing does it again. What is the problem?
Lisa Kelley so is the DOC getting plugged? Do they need to do a “face plug cleaning “?
I had code spn3251. I drove it like that they turned off by themselves. they turned on again dealer did a face plug. 2 days later they turned on again but now I have fault code spn4364 nox conversion efficiency. what could be the issue please help
I would recommend to connect to the truck and perform a parked regen. You would have to see the pressure of the DOC inlet and the DPF outlet to get a better idea of what is going on. NOX efficiency can be a pain. But start with doing a parked regen.
How many miles on the truck?
i need help i have warranty through fraightliner the replace the def filters and sensors plus nox sensor after 1 day i got the code 3251 fmi 0 again
This code can be difficult to troubleshoot. If you have warranty then it will nee to go back to Freightliner of authorized Detroit dealership.
The DPF filters are just one part of the issue, the DOC plugging means there is excessive soot, this could be the injectors (over fueling), could be the valve adjustment, could be a software issue, the is list is long.
What else did they do?
@@CarlosDieselElectric they changed the injectors cups
The permanent code, you have to clear it or it will clear when you drive the vehicle?
You may have to clear it, I have seen it both ways where it will go inactive on its own but still need to be cleared.
I have a question brother how can I contact you
How are you Sir noce video i need asking you where i could buy the diagnostic program to install in the computer. Thanks.
The software can be purchased from Nexiq.
diagnosticlink.nexiq.com/DTNA/Default.aspx
I just had my 1 box replaced , reman cans 2 months prior , new engine harness installed , new actuator, along with the various sensors along the way.
1st load out , less than 2oo miles on truck since service and I just had this code pop up with the 2 amber lights. Also of note the turbo has up and down spooling issues at the top 2 gears. Very noticeable loss of power.
Any ideas ? Tired of the money loss if nothing is being corrected.
Engine air filter? is it new?
Also, the fault codes, were they there before you replaced the One Box?
@@CarlosDieselElectric air filter was changed less than 30k ago. These are new fault codes but had previous 1box and scr codes prior. Plus the one box cracked at the seams and started to separate at the welds for the scr.
Truck just shut me down with all 3 lights about an hour ago. The following 3 codes came up. And have remained even after truck off for a while.
3251/02
3563/18
3246/00
@@chinacat4u2
3251 /02 is DOC inlet pressure not plausible (could be a sensor, tube blockage, harness or ACM related)
3563 /18 inlet manifold pressure low (check CAC of possibly bad sensor)
3246 /00 DPF outlet temp very high (could be sensor, harness or fueling issues)
@@chinacat4u2 these fault codes will be tricky to troubleshoot. Could be ACM or MCM related.
Have you tried using a test ACM or test MCM?
@@CarlosDieselElectric I am certain the shop didn't do any testing in regards to this. They kind of are like if its not showing a code then your not having an issue attitude. Taking truck to another shop on Friday. Waiting for my load to get repowered. Shop is 15 miles away. Will be all over this shop to find and fix the issue. Has to be a sensor or blockage like you said. Only real thing that seems to make sense. Truck idles perfectly. Just refuses to pull 80k.
I have the same doc pressure not plausible code on a dd15, I tried to do the regen and the fuel doser wouldn’t build pressure and 10 mins in I got a code for very low fuel doser pressure, if I replace the doser block and run a regen will both codes go away?
Jesse Flores few questions how old is the Doser Block ? Has it ever been replaced?
Carlos Diesel Electric not sure how old it is looks fairly old
Jesse Flores so could be the Doser injector on the S-Pope is blocked. Check and clear that. Could be the Doser block is bad and not allowing the fuel to push towards the Diesel Doser Injector. Start there first.
Carlos Diesel Electric for sure man appreciate the help 👌
hi.. i got these alarms, codes and engine stop completely when i was driving around NC and Virginia stateline. But before that my truck started making some noise like pressure leaking out of pipe or something only when i was going uphills or before descending downhills.. then called roadside, did regen, no codes after, drove to the yard with the same noise and mechanic cant figure it out .. any help will be appreciated 🙏
Jass Karann during the regen? Could be the DOC fave plug or DPF issue.
The noise is coming from or near the One Box?
@@CarlosDieselElectric thanks for replying.. there is no noise while regen, just on hills .. but more noise when continous hills and sometimes no noise when lighly hilly area.. and i guess its coming from side .
Same side*
Jass Karann so I have seen a few things happen with this noise or sound.
1) the noise can cause a fault code like NOx efficiency
2) DOC or DPF pressure fault codes
3) DOC inlet pressure is high during regen
4) heard noise from the One Box area and no fault codes so I had to remove the DPF filters to confirm the DOC’s were pushed out.
@@CarlosDieselElectric appriciate ... i can use the knowlegde .. 👍
What soft system do you use for ur laptop and what laptop
Raymond Miller I use the Diagnostic Link software, you can purchase this through Nexiq. The laptop I use is a Lenovo, most important thing is find any laptop that can run the programs you will be using. Check out my other video, I go over the hardware and software I use for diagnostics.
Will a DOC pressure over 1 trigger a manifold pressure high wastegate code?
Yes, the system is very sensitive. 1.16 I believe is what Detroit considers plugged and may require a face plug cleaning routine.
Also, check your waste gate for any leaks. They have been known to fail. Check the CAC for leaks. Do a pressure test.
@@CarlosDieselElectric Thank you for the response. I will perform full diagnostic
thanks for the video was really helpfull
I usually don't do a regen after dpf filters cleaning or replacement.. but some people do it!!.. is that right thing to do?
That depends, a regen may still be required by the MCM, ACM. For example, If the filters are level 5, you can clean them or replace them and it may still require the parked regen.
It also lets you see the temperatures and pressures of the after treatment.
@@CarlosDieselElectric thanks
l have same problems but mine didt let me to do the regen ?
I am assuming you are using the DDDL software to do the regen.
What level is the DPF at?
What are your pressures?
Truck doing to many regen when driving. Any tips what wrong?
Hack Daddy - Official - how many miles are in the truck? What year is the truck? What kind of work has been done to the truck? Have the DPF filters been serviced? Is the truck local, in other words heavy traffic.
These are just of the questions that help to determine what could be wrong.
Carlos Diesel Electric Kenworth t680 2016. Have got them baked. Have got box sensors replaced. Did scr red. And box sensors passed. Truck not local. 7th injector replaced about 80k miles ago.
Hack Daddy - Official - these are always the most difficult to find. Could be a bad ECM or a bad DPF. What engine are you working with?
Carlos Diesel Electric its a cummins. Long and frequent regens
Hi can the plugged face cause a white smoke while doing a regen
White smoke could be caused by a number of things.
I recommend to have someone connect the DDDL software and see what the pressures are reading.
White smoke could be coolant, fuel, too much DEF. so to be sure use the software to monitor
@@CarlosDieselElectric Thank you for the quick answer
The truck was at a shop but they didn't find anything irregular
The dpf filters were cleaned ~8m ago, we tend to do more than normal idle as we do some local runs, cold it be theyve clogged again
As far of the white smoke it's on the first 10min out of the 30min regen that the truck now tends to do every day, so I was thinking might be the doc face plug situation with fuel not getting burned cause colant stays constant
@@zeno9253 ask the shop what the DOC inlet pressure is and the DPF pressure is during the parked regen. I have seen some trucks with white smoke in the very beginning then clears right up.
Check the DEF doser for any blockages, clean the diesel Doser valve after the turbo
Why my throttle value is zero during regen thanks
What year is the truck?
@@CarlosDieselElectric 2015 cascadia
@@HarinderSingh-ke9zn the newer trucks definitely show a different value compared to the earlier models. Not sure why Detroit changed this.
What is going on with your truck?
@@CarlosDieselElectric I was doing regen today and inlet doc pressure was high but after regen it came down to ..86 but and nox efficiency turn in to 79 and I am thinking to do doc face cleaning hopefully on weekend, that time I figured hi throttle thing is not moving may be because like you said it’s 2015 newer is different thanks for your help, I will text if I have more questions
How do you run the 4 hours regen?
In order to run the 4.5 hour parked regen, you will need the DDDL software.
@@CarlosDieselElectric if you don’t have that access for a 4.5 hour regen, can you do the regular 45min regen for multiple times?
@@Edgar-Gar No, a parked regem will run at a different temp for about 30-45 minutes.
The 4.5 hour regen will start off at a very low temp and maintain it for 4 hours or so to unplug the face of the DOC.
Then at the very end it will resume the regular regen at normal temperatures.
2013 Cascadia here,DD15..Def pump,metering valve,All heater line changed,ALV changed,Fresh def fluid..Trk run fine for a day..THEN All 3 lights by on,derate again..Codes were cleared..All came back..IAM LOST HERE???
David F Suffy posible harness issue. Possible ACM issue.
Forgot to ask, why did you change all these things? What codes were you getting?
Def doser,open circuit,low pressure,nox sensor,Metering valve code..After all repairs,They updated software..CPC,MCM,ACM,ECM.REPAIR BROKEN WIRE DOSER CIRCUIT..
I also have a flashing light right above the def gauge
