I only ever use 1 ion cannon per citadel. And not even as a fighting tool. The one use i have for ion turrets is this: When your chokepoint system has branching jumplanes. At an acute number of degrees, and considerably close distance, to each other. My ion cannon is there to engage, and *combat lock,* any enemy fleet that enters the system. Who would otherwise pass that short distance, and through to the next system without having to face my war citadel. I do it on a 120⁰ basis.
Just made a fantatic militarist/materialist post-apocalypse civic once I realized this came out (haven’t been keeping up to date tbh). Let’s rock some shit
In late game, I have 3 types of fleets, capital fleets (6titans: 1 of each type, the rest battleships), battleship fleets (all battleships), and the swarm (all Corvettes with point defense. Then, all weapons ignore shields and armor (cloud lightning, disruptors, and focused arc emitters) at that point the Titans prediction beam is less useful because it must take out all hill and armor.
FINALLY.... a straight forward, "didn't repeat yourself or a concept 15 times before you got to the point", well-done video from ASpec. Minimum fluff, minimum "uh" and "um", got to the point. Take my sincere kudos, this was a well made showcase.
The neutron sweep definitely seems the most powerful out of the 3 normal superwepons. It would make a lot more sense if it turned the world into a tomb world since it kills all life on a planet.
Neutron Bombs is a theoretically concept that limits the power of atom bombs to only discharge neutrons, witch due their bigger size compared to electrons(gamma radiation which takes time to do damage) destroy organic materials while leaving inorganic material just fine, they also break down after roughly 15 minutes which makes it a neat way to deal with biological targets while not dealing environmental damage
I wish I could tell you how I did it, but I just unlocked the Research option for the Ancient Ruination Glare, a weapon every bit as deadly as the Perdition Beam with about half the recharge delay.
They do, catch is they’ll be demolished because of the low pop count. Repopulate to adequate numbers to have them be repairable. Literally what I just went through. Just don’t demolish them fully.
Talking about titans made me think of something.... They should make "craftable" relics. If other empires made them, why we can't? Maybe you are limited to only 1 "relic" and of course it needs a lot of resource and research
I honestly agree. Sure some relics like the javorian pox sample isn't impressive on it's own and it is the historical value that makes it a relic or the last baol because it is the last of a creature in stasis, but stuff like the rubricator, surveyor, and vultam... thing? show that yeah - we should have that ability. I think the one you can make should be ethics based too, such as militarists being able to make some kind of big -dakka- gun or trophy and spiritualists being able to make some kind of statue to their god with some kind of shroud like effect.
@@StarboyXL9 most of the time I try to have fortress worlds at certain points to force other empires to fight them, but they aren't as effective with my strategies now and they can still be invaded.

Hey I just got back into the game because of synthetic dawn and everything. Have they fixed the assimilators being able to vassalize other empires? Asking because of your way goals screen had it on there
The year is 2353.. The Contingency spawned inside my main mining system.... sent in main and back up fleet to engage the enemy bombing my planet.. two 87k fleets vs a single 108k fleet. I win. Enemy reinforcements show up..two 60ishk fleets vs 276k fleet... main fleet gone.. the only surviving ships was a single Corvette and Cruiser. Mining production is now -809 a month....damnit...
So what we all want to know is... expansion pass 3 when? Paradox already has achievements listed for other dlcs. I imagine they can start getting them out quicker than in the past since they are past the 2.2 hurdle now.
If you use the colossus planet shield on the last planet/claimed system of a species can they still build ships? Also the first thing I did with the colossus was blow up the prophets retreat just because
Yes I did. I had 3 fleets of 150k corvet swarms. Fallen empires are really not that big a deal anymore. Especially if you play hive mind with x5 pre space flight empires on. Just assimilate everything and by the time fallen empire wakes you will be to OP to handle
Yes. Basically we're up to the point that megacorp and distant stars would have been coming out on PC. It's even unstable and crashes and lags a ton in the endgame like most PC players, too!
Imagine one day you wake up and see colossus above you and the entire earth is shadowed by him ;)) PS: Can you use the spritualist colossus on your own worlds to make your people more spiritual ;?
You forgot (or I missed it) the true power of the Colossus and the primary reason to build them: the TOTAL WAR cassius belli. No more wasting influence on claims*, no more taking bites out of empires every 10 years, just declare total war and remove them from the galactic stage in one go. *Whether it be galactic resolutions, edicts, or building mega structures there's always something I'd rather spend influence on than claims.
I forgot to mention that planet crackers are the only way to remove that annoying end game habitat spam that the AI seems to be addicted to. I swear that habitats are like crack to the AI. A human player will at least build them in moderation when it makes sense like over valuable resource deposits but the AI will just build 12 of the damn things over completely useless planets.
