  • Stunt Pilot is the Rocky Mountain Construction single rail coaster at Silverwood. This ride has a nearly identical layout to the original RMC Raptors, but it features a longer train for increased capacity and some modified profiling. Does this make it better or worse? Find out in this review!

I think the modified profiling was due to the longer trains. Like the larger raptors, they have to lessen the forces to accommodate the longer trains.

from canobies coaster description it seems like even in the extreme seats (front and back) its still tamer than the original raptors, which implies the profile change addressed more than just the train length

Having finally ridden Railblazer - I have to say I actually prefer Stunt Pilot a little bit. The snappy entry into the dive loop on Railblazer is incredible, but the feeling of being yanked on that first drop in row 10 of Stunt Pilot outdoes it for me. It's also much more rerideable for me thanks to the smoothness and toned down Gs on that upward helix. Both are top-notch rides of course!

I love these restraints. I go to Great Adventure every 2-3 weeks now and the Jersey Devil's restraints are the most comfortable over the shoulder ones in the park for me. I'm about average size for a woman in the US, so I barely fit on a number of coasters in the six flags parks. I don't feel that way with these restraints at all, most vest restraints are fairly accommodating but this one feels the most like the people who designed it actually accounted for more than 50% of the population.

The RMC single rail design always seem a little weird to me and it looks like they don't have any wheels underneath the train. I've always wondered why they called the single rail coaster's RMC Raptors, and what the excitement about them was all about. The theme and color scheme for Stunt Pilot looks really nice and I think the park could use another airplane or jet fighter themed roller coaster in the near future. I think that they should add some LED lights to Corkscrew and Aftershock, making them more exciting. If Silverwood wants to get creative, they could tear down Boulder Beach and add more rides to that area like a Sky Tower or a Double Looping roller coaster or Grizzly Bear log ride or a Family roller coaster.

Ok I do agree that it needing to warm up (like most modern RMCs) sucks and that the airtime hump isn’t as powerful but I completely disagree that the drop off after the turnaround and the S is less powerful. Comparing the pictures I took of it and golden lasso plus the rides on rail blazer, I can tell you that it both looks and feels steeper to me. In fact the only thing I really find “inferior” on this ride is that you don’t get the airtime pop on the second hill (the dive loop) because you’re upside down… but everything else felt either equal or superior to me. I think this is the best single rail and RMC handled the longer trains the correct way on this one…-

I get why people may prefer this one. Even in row 10, the first drop and mid-drop didn't quite have the same oomph for me as a RailBlazer or Wonder Woman, but it was still very strong airtime.

Having ridden SP and RB, I found a few key differences. I haven't ridden WWGLC. Here are my observations:
    1. Theming - SP is way better, and the red and white color just pops, plus the audio just before the drop is kind of fun. And the camera location through the shed at the bottom of the Zero G roll is better too.
    2. Setting - SP wins again - that first drop makes you feel like the ride is trying to fly you into Montana from the back row, while at CGA, there's not much to see other than the park.
    3. Queue - SP wins here - the single rider line in the station is super handy, and you end up in the back rows typically... though sometimes the
    4. Loading - SP wins - moving station is great - compared with RB it was night and day
    5. Restraints - RB, and it's not close - on RB I never felt uncomfortable. On SP, unless I intentionally sit up super straight and almost push off when they pull down the restraint, or my back will be rounded out and the positive Gs will be dreadful. The older restraints are far better, IMHO, for someone who is 6'2". I also felt like SP made me feel far more knock-kneed and threatened much more trigger cramps in my leg muscles.
    6. Elements - Slight edge RB - The biggest difference was that I could feel the off-axis airtime hill far more from every seat on RB, where on SP I never really thought about it - it was never noticeable. I liked the two drops on SP in the back row, Seat 10, better than RB Seat 8.
Overall, I think I prefer Stunt Pilot, at least in the back row, given all the components above - but strictly for the ride elements, I liked RB slightly better, especially that off-axis hill.
All that said, the way Tremors was running last September, I actually preferred it to Stunt Pilot... Tremors felt closer to Ghostrider than it had for me in the past, just seemed much more out of control and intense than I had recalled previously. This was borne out watching POVs as well from 2021 to 2022 - the slowdown turn before the final 2 tunnels didn't feel like a lull last year, while it did in 2021. Sorry for geeking out so much. Being in Seattle, Silverwood is my "home" park.

@@CanobieCoaster I've never had it not be open when I've gone... but haven't been in 2023 yet. I would agree the straps are definitely more comfortable, and easier to get your head into (it was almost comical trying to load on RailBlazer sometimes, if my head wasn't positioned at the perfect angle), but I always feel compressed on Stunt Pilot, and didn't have that experience on RailBlazer at all.

@@CanobieCoasterI haven’t seen it open at all this year- unfortunately I think it’s a thing of the past. But every time I’ve gone the ops have been pretty good at asking if there’s any single riders in line. I hope it comes back back but I think them labeling it as an “express line” through signage ruined it because there would be groups going in line thinking it was a fast lane type deal. Hopefully they relabel it because I was able to get 250 ish rides on it last season with the single rider queue.
