I rode MillenniumForce for the first time last summer and I was blown away. I went in expected a force less ride but was completely shocked. The first drop was breathtaking as well as the sensation of speed. On top of the great ride experience, it is even better at night. Overall an amazing roller coaster that I personally have in my top 10 between mystic timbers and twisted timbers.

I’ve always thought Millennium Force got too much hate. I’m finally glad to an enthusiast give it the love it deserves! While I agree that the front row on Millennium is amazing, I’ve always ridden it in the back purely for the first drop. It’s one of the best elements on any coaster (granted my coaster count isn’t quite as extensive as yours). Love the video! Keep up the amazing content!

Millennium Force is special to me. I rode it at a time when I was still afraid of roller coasters, and it freaked me out when I was a kid. My first ever ride on Millie was the most memorable because I was the most terrified I had ever been on a roller coaster. By the end, I was speechless. I felt like I could ride anything.
Even after experiencing both Fury 325 and Orion, Millennium Force is still my favorite giga for that sensation of uninterrupted speed. I come off the ride with tears because of how fast it goes. It’s such a rush.

I agree. I was 35 when I rode Millennium Force for the first time, and I was terrified. It was so exhilarating. I wish I could re-capture those feelings of fear followed by the euphoria in the brake run. Intimidator 305 is now my favorite giga, but I have Millie above all 3 B&M gigas.

I finally got to ride Millennium Force this summer, after last visiting the park in 1999 when it was under construction. I love this ride so much. The two hills in the middle give an amazing amount of floater that's just heavenly, and everywhere else has relentless speed. Pure fun.

I went to Cedar Point on the perfect day. It was sunny and 75, and the crowds were minimal. Millennium Force was my first ride and I still remember going up that cable lift for the first time. The anticipation was the highest it had ever been for me and when we flew down the first drop, I knew I was in for one heck of a ride.

I love your point about going to it for early entry. We used to love the sprint from Marina gate (pre Valravn) to try and get row 1 on train 1 of the day. In May of 08, we made it and got stuck about 200 feet up for about 5 minutes. Pretty sketchy feeling up there so exposed, but it was still awesome. When we got moving and came back to unload, they let us stay on for a second ride. I've been going to CP for 30 years, since I was 6 years old - that is still my favorite coaster moment at the park.

So now it has actually become a classic case of hate! it got so big, and so adored, people just got jealous and started hating on Millennium... Millennium Force is a victim of player haters💯💯🤣🤣

I got to lap this 8 times in a row with no wait just before midnight this past September and actually started to like the back car the best. The drop, first airtime hill, and the second overbank on the island are super fun near the back when it's running fast. You just float down the entire backside of the airtime hill, and get yanked around the second half of that overbank. Also, the station was going nuts and they let us get another ride after midnight. Super fun experience. I will say I rode again the next day, I guess before it was warmed up, and it didn't deliver the same ride in the back.

My wife and I rode MF back in 2003 with both of our rides in the front row. Looking at Lake Erie on your left, you realize how far up you are going. Cresting the top I had my hands up (as I do on all coasters), I was overwhelmed by the angle of descent and had to put my hands down as I thought what had I gotten myself into. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed my first experience and held my hands up all the way through on my next ride.

I love this ride. I especially love the lift hill, the first time I rode it with my partner the spot where it catches and the train jerks backards freaked him out. i305 may be my favorite giga now, but Millennium Forceful is my 2nd favorite. I start to lose a little vision for a moment at the apex of the first overbank, and there isn't much that can do that to me. I love the sustained speed, and those night rides are legendary. I do miss having the dinosaurs along the course. I was so excited for my first rides on this in 2014. It had me terrified, but I loved it so much. It was my # 1 coaster from 2014 until I rode Iron Rattler in 2016. I'm getting the idea of doing a top coasters video from the end of 2014, to try to tap into my mindset from then.

I remember my first ride on Millinum Force, my first ever ride on a giga. I never felt that height or speed before when I first rode it so I had bo clue what to expect coming in. When I felt 90 mph wind in my face and a drop that feels like you fall forever for the first time, I was more blown away than any experience previous of that. You think guga drops make you feel like you're falling forever, I rode it for the first time thinking Magnums drop was insanely long when I got my first ride on that, it was breathtaking. The views you just cannot beat on that lift and a layout full of big floater airtime hills and even some positive G moments like the overbank. This ride may be a GP favorite and not the most Intense but who cares, having that much speed and airtime and tunnels and just fun is all you need here. And of corse, there is nothing like a front row night ride on this, being the indshield for everyone else behind you. I counted:
    7 bugs on shirt
    5 bugs on face
    3 bugs in mouth
    It was fun

Interesting fact, I consider Superman the escape & Tower of Terror (in Australia) both tied as the worlds tallest coaster of their time.
I say that is because i believe I found out that whilst Superman the escape was taller buy structure, the other one (Tower of Terror Australia) took you/riders up just that little bit higher, making it the tallest roller coaster experience in the world at that time.
So technically both were the worlds tallest roller coaster back then depending on which way round you look at it.

For most coasters I can specify why I think they are fun. Millennium Force has great height and speed but otherwise doesn't have any specific elements I can point at that I would say make it particularly great. However, it just feels like an overall very fun and satisfying experience. I guess you could say that implies that it has good pacing but I usually think of coasters like Lightning Rod when I think of great pacing. Millennium Force is nothing like Lightning Rod.
I don't know why Millennium Force is so great. It's not just iconic and historic. The actually ride is just a blast and I think it's really a coaster that is greater than the sum of its parts.

So I rode this finally in the front for the first time on my trip last year, and it was a much better coaster than the back. Please appreciate when we first went in 2001, it was a 3 and a half hour wait for this coaster, so after a back row ride, we weren't going to wait again. We just chose the wrong row. This time I was able to easily get 3 rides in over my 2 days at CP, one in the back and 2 in the front, however, once again, I got NO airtime in the back row on the first drop. That said, I get NO airtime on superman SFA or SFDL in the back row on the first drop either, so I am starting to think it may be my thick thighs and tall frame just not working harmoniously with the classic Intamin T Bar restraint. You are quite petite in comparison, and really think this has something to do with it as you simply have more room to move. In the front, I did get some weak floater over the hills though, and I give it a 7/10. In the back, it's still a 5/10 at best for me, and that's not because it's a bad coaster, it's because it's such an intimidating behemoth that I always get off it thinking it should have been better. OTOH, I loved Maverick and spent most of my 2 days on that and SV. I did enjoy I305 a lot more than MF. The other thing is Mike that you seem to grey out a lot - I don't mean this as an insult in ANY way, but I think it may mean a coaster is more intense for you than someone who doesn't. I have never greyed out on MF, barely did on I305, I mean it was maybe half a second of ever so slight tunnel vision, and the only American coaster that routinely causes a proper grey out for me is Goliath/Titan on the second half. This is still overall Medicore Force to me, and Maverick was awesome as was SV. Gatekeeper was pleasant fun, Valravn was OK, I didn't bother with anything else like Gemini or Blue Streak or Iron Dragon etc as I have done them all before. Oh, I did have one ride in the back car on Corkscrew, as it was closed on a previous visit, and it was janky as heck, but the airtime got me off guard. Was worth it for that. Cheers.

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  Месяц назад

The t-bars are rigid with no give, so I can see how it's possible to miss out on the floater if it's jammed down.

Actually, Gemini did have the DROP (not height) record for any coaster when it opened on June 17th 1978 featuring a 118' drop that didn't get beaten until The Beast opened on April 14th 1979 which featured two drops bigger than Gemini's drop; the 1st being a straight and relatively steep drop of about 135' (which was untrimmed at the time) and the 2nd being a curved and less steep but bigger drop length of 141' beating it's own 1st drop's record. Colossus came close to beating Gemini for the biggest drop of ANY coaster, but Gemini was the only metal coaster to have the biggest drop of any coaster (until its drop record got beaten by The Beast on April 14th 1979) until 1988 when Bandit in Japan or 1989 when Magnum XL-200 beat the biggest drop length record of any coaster which had been held by American Eagle for years, since it opened May 23rd, 1981; the last time a wooden coaster would open featuring the biggest drop of any coaster and held it's record 8-9 years until either Bandit or Max XL-200 opened; re-starting the coaster wars. But Colossus didn't beat Gemini for the biggest drop of any coaster at the time it opened, since it only had a drop of 115'; which is 3' less than Gemini's 118' drop. However, Colossus did break records for the biggest drop on any WOODEN coaster until The Beast opened on April 14th 1979, which beat Loch Ness Monster, Colossus AND Gemini. So while it's true that Loch Ness Monster did feature the world's biggest drop on any coaster when it opened on June 6th 1978, it only kept that record for 11 days; until 11 days later when on June 17th 1978 Gemini opened.
In any case: Max-XL-200's 194.7' drop got beaten by Steel Phantom in January 1991 which featured a 225' drop, which got tied by Desperado in 1994, then beaten by Fujyama in July 1996 which features a drop of 229.7'which got beaten by the Superman shuttle clones, but I digress; they're shuttle coasters, so I'll hereby ignore them. Fujiyama's drop got beaten by Goliath at SFMM which featured a 255' drop when it opened on Feb. 11th 2000, and that got beaten three months later by Millennium Force on May 13th 2000 when it opened as the tallest and fastest coaster with the biggest drop of any full circuit coaster. In turn, so too Millennium Force also got beaten almost three months later by Steel Dragon 2000 which features a 307' drop, a top speed of 95 MPH when it opened August 1st 2000 and to this day remains the longest track length of any roller coaster ever built on earth.
Millennium Force is the best roller coaster on earth to have beaten drop stats when it came out for a full circuit roller coaster with the possible exception of Fury 325 which is the only full layout coaster with a bigger speed and drop height that is considered to be at least as good if not better than Millennium Force. The chain lift of B&M hypers that are giga sized like Leviathan is NOT as fast as the elevator cable lift catch car Millie uses, but it is still more likely to increase the throughput of guests since the trains don't ever have to wait for an available catch car. I'll bet the three B&M giga sized hypers have the fastest chain lifts of any coaster though.
I never greyed out on this coaster; the coaster I was most likely to have my vision affected at Cedar Point was the back outside left car of Raptor.
I'd say there are 4 airtime moments: 1: the drop which is stronger the further back car in the train; 2: the 182' tall airtime hill which provides exactly the same sustained floater negative gs for the same time in every car but peaks before the crests in the front and after the crests in the back; 3: the same thing with the smaller return hill and 4: the speed hill next to the station, which provides an unsustained but strongest little moment of airtime on the entire ride; nevertheless it's too small to provide a tummy tickling sensation. That means there are at least two sustained airtime moments in all seats, and three towards the back where the drop's airtime is sustained on the drop, but the 4th airtime moment during the station flyby while being strong is NOT sustained.
Millennium Force is also my favourite coaster at Cedar Point after Steel Vengeance and I think if Id' ridden every giga in the world I imagine I too would put this 2nd after Fury 325. It was tough to decide but of the coasters I've ridden I put it above Ghostider at Knott's and under Behemoth at Canada Wonderland, which is only beaten by Steel Vengeance. Millennium Force is best experienced in row 1, 17 and 18, and I think deserves a 9.5 out of 10 in all three of those rows. Thanks for this positive review of one of the best roller coasters I've ever ridden!

Reminder: Gemini nor LochNess Monster was the tallest coaster in the world when it opened. It was actually at Fuji-Q Highland. In 1966, they built the Giant Coaster which was 131.5 ft, which was one and a half foot taller than the LochNess Monster! And Magnum XL-200 STILL didn't live up to the record like it was advertised. Fuji-Q Highland struck it again with Moonsault Scramble(which opened in 1983) at an approximate height 229.7 ft, which was the ACTUAL first roller coaster EVER to break the 200ft barrier! And before Millennium Force, there were actually 2 coasters that were taller! You did mention Superman: Escape from Krypton, but don't about the defunct Tower of Terror II(377.3 ft) at Australia's Dreamworld! And THAT coaster opened before the former, so that was once the world's tallest and fastest coaster!

It's a great ride and an important ride being the world's first giga coaster... But I much prefer Orion... I feel like it's got more airtime... And even more importantly the quality of the airtime is much better. Not to mention the drop... Orion may have the best first drop in Ohio.

Although this ride isn't in my top ten due to lack of intensity and a weak layout, I can appreciate the coaster's fantastic pacing, setting, and significance. Next time I get to CP I need to get on the front row, because I haven't experienced that yet, and I've heard it's incredible
To be honest, I was shocked to hear that MF pulls 4.5 G's, because it doesn't feel like it. I've never greyed out on any 4 of my rides. The ride has its flaws, but it's a great ride at a great amusement park!

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  2 года назад +1

The front is where you need to ride to fully experience this coaster. I'm not surprised it pulls 4.5 Gs considering how long it causes me to greyout.

  • @marcjsolis

I have to disagree with you on where to sit on this one. The front does have a really nice sense of speed. However, I find all the airtime more forceful in the back row. The length of the train adds some whip over the hills.

I don't get the hate. I grey out at the bottom of the drop and first turn all the time. It's speed sensation is also amazing. I'd put it in my top 5 out of 271 tbh

One of the most out of control feelings in my life was Millennium Force in the back seat on a pitch black night. The first drop feels like it lasts forever. I don’t get the Millennium Forceless thing.

I think this ride has a ton of variance between rides and that’s why people’s opinions of MF are so polarizing. If you ride in a middle car when it’s not running at it’s best and it’s your first ride, you are going to be massively disappointed

    • @CanobieCoaster

Millie is so overrated. As you can see, it gets hyped to hell. When you ride it enough, you notice something’s people don’t talk about. First, the layout is very weak, if you enjoy overbanks, I guess you’ll love it. And smooth, this is not. It rattles a lot you can hear the train car your in just rumble a lot. Squeaks during sections. No airtime really, unless you sit in the very back row. The cable lift is rather slow, and clanks a lot. It’s operations are super strange. Since it has multi move, and the cable retracts so slowly. It won’t send the next train until the previous on the brake run. Then sends one, you move into unload, unload goes into the station and station goes up cable all at once. Since no trim in it, only one train on it at a time. It has a great drop, and view, but after that, not much to it. I find it forceless when compared to i305 and RMCs. By 2022 standards, it’s lacking. I don’t compare them in the time they were made. Fury still remains the best to beat.
