  • Maverick at Cedar Point was the original Intamin bltiz coaster and this ride is a jack-of-all-trades. This coaster features a beyond vertical drop, ejector airtime, crazy transitions, two inversions, an LSM launch, and some theming. Maverick does a little of everything and it does everything well! Find out just how good this coaster is in this review!

been said that maverick was wayyy ahead of its time. The industry is still catching up to what intamin started doing 15 years ago. This ride single-handedly ended the “bigger, taller, faster” phase of the coaster wars

On my last ride in 2019, I was in the front, in the right hand seat, and on the second Stengel Dive, I felt like I hanging forever. Such a blissful moment, for me, on such a bronco of a coaster. I even like the inversions too. This is my number one coaster for a reason.

Rode this for the first time back in August and it’s by far my favorite so far. I vividly remember approaching the launch halfway through yelling “WHAT IS THIS?!” I had no idea of the launch, which added to the experience. 10/10 the perfect coaster

You keep reviewing such elite rides lol, slow down. Maverick is one of the best coasters in the nation. Widely considered the 2nd best and maybe by some, the best coaster at CP. This ride is relentless, ot is so intense, used to have one of the most violent inversions ever, has crazy power in every force and element. Airtime, whip, laterals, ejector airtime, launch, positives... literally every force besides hangtime. This is a true CP gem and if you love intensity, this could easily be your favorite coaster ever.

Have only been to C.P. once 3 years ago. Was a newbie as a coaster enthusiast. Had no clue that this coaster even existed. Had just got off steel vengeance and my brother was like hey lets check this one out. Needless to say the experience was unbelievable and completely unexpected. Have just booked my next visit the last week of August. Will be at the park for 3 days. All I can say is Zamperla better not drop the ball. My brother and I can't wait to get a taste of TT2.

I don't even remember the hard restraints on my 2014 visit, but that might be why Maverick didn't stand out much to me on my one ride. I remember liking it, but not nearly as much as I do now. In 2014, I put Gatekeeper & Millennium Force far ahead of it, but I now have Maverick ahead of those 2. In fact, I would've put Maverick at # 10 overall out of 50 in 2014, but I now have it around 10-12 out of 505.

I remember riding this for the first time early evening as the sun was going down, and was blown away by the whippy alternating left and right bends. It really gave the impression of riding an out of control horse, whilst being pure fun at the same time. Rather than thinking of a top 5 or top 10, I like to think if I was building a park and could choose just 5 coasters to go in it, what would I choose? It’s such a different experience from most rides that I’m pretty sure it would be one of those picks.

Although this ride sprained my back it is still absolutely phenomenal, it’s top five in the park for sure. The drop packs more of a punch than others twice it’s size, that’s probably my favorite element or the steingle dive. I only have 1 one ride on Maverick, and it was in the middle car. I was still able to experience the crazy positives and violent airtime (the first hill after the low turns made my shirt go over my head) but I still think that Maverick was a little over hyped for me, but that might be because of my only ride being in the middle. I would’ve gotten a back row ride, but it broke down and stayed down for the rest of the day as I was ready to board the train.

Mav is so similar yet so different to 2 of my favorite rides. It has the intense positive g's and whippy elements of Nemesis and the AMAZING launch of Rita. Just Mav focuses on airtime and Rita is closet to having even some, but its weak floater.

Before watching: this is one of the most popular coasters I've ever ridden but I place it as my 6th favourite coaster at Cedar Point after 5: Raptor; 4:Top Thrill Dragster; 3: Gatekeeper; 2: Millennium Force; 1: Steel Vengeance.
I found the 1st launch of Maverick to be only fun for a couple seconds but after it stops gaining speed the lift hill is no more or less boring than any other, but would be a reason I think Maverick has pacing issues during the lift hill. I wouldn't usually blame any coaster's one lift hill for pacing issues, but in Maverick's case: people love the 1st launch and don't consider that the rest of the lift hill actually has pacing issues.
I also find the drop in the back car to conflate bastardized airtime by featuring a 95 degree 100' drop entered as fast as 20 MPH with traditional 1st drop airtime in the back car, which while I admit delivers an intense experience, its intensity blinds our natural dropping negative g meter with unnatural intensity, which doesn't allow me to have a chance to properly feel what I love about most 1st drops, felt fully in the back car of any coaster train with at least 8 rows of seats, starting at the convex portion of track usually at the highest point of the ride starting when the train starts gaining speed the moment it disengages from the chain lift and drops, reaching a maximum angle from anywhere between 45 degrees to 90 degrees before levelling out of that maximum steep angle of descent, which is often my favourite part of any roller coaster. But because it's more than 90 degrees and enters the drop at such a high speed, it seems to skip over what I love about 1st drops the most.
My favourite part of the ride are the three turns following that 1st drop, as well as the 2nd launch in the tunnel which often happens after a break that causes worse pacing issues than the lift hill pacing issues. That is followed by the better launch of the ride (the 2nd best launch in the park after TTD) that is then followed by a sudden turn to the left and then a trimmed uphill before dropping to a fast and long finale mostly over water with water effects for the off ride viewers. Maverick is the only coaster I prefer the middle car in, since I usually prefer the back but prefer it in the middle to compensate for being 95 degrees entered at about 20 MPH. The front is good too, especially because the trains feature a car 0. Nobody can have experienced the entire track of 4,450' if it's only at the EBR and not where it started.
I appreciate the fact that you like MF better but I find the airtime on MF identical everywhere (at different parts of the airtime parts of the layout) except the back where the drop was the best, especially with it's long trains, so I prefer MF in the back two rows of the back car.
