Bought this tire due to your review. Mounting it was so easy and nice. I changed from Conti5000TL and its a world of difference in comfort and easyness of Tubeless setup. Conti took me ~ 40 Minutes and bloody fingers while it only plopped in the rims at 120psi .... ProOneTLE took me 4 Minutes and had no problems first try plopping in at 70psi. Yes the Conti maybe 2watts faster..... but good luck when you need to change tires on the road... will take about half an hour at best...
lordad According to my experience you’re more likely to encounter the opposite: I found that the tires widen over time, making them far easier to get off than anticipated, but impossible to seal again after repairing. I think I had to accept either throwing away the tire or accept using it with an inner tube in every case I took a tire off in case of the Schwalbes. After some months of riding the tires, that is.
@@CreRay If the sealant can't fix the puncture on the road, it's almost always easier/faster to fit in an inner tube and ride home. At home, if the tyre no longer seals easily, it is recommended to apply some "mounting fluid", or soapy water, along the beads.
@@Dee-Ell DT Swiss RR22. I can tell you from experience, once you can lift the tire over the rim edges just like that with 0 effort, you’re in trouble. When new they were tough to get on. I haven’t made the same experience yet with the Conti’s (yet). I really love the ride feel of the Schwalbes, I think the combination of comfort and low rolling resistance is unsurpassed. But I had too many flats with them for my liking. The conti’s are much stiffer, don’t ride as nice, and going by feel, have a slightly worse rolling resistance. But the puncture resistance is excellent. I make long rides by myself in the mountains, then reliability becomes very important. I’ll stick with the Conti’s. One problem was also that the DocBlue in some cases just wouldn’t seal. I have now switched to Stan’s Race.

Hi Romy, Jan from Conti here. Interesting take on these tires, one thing to add though: there are not several different layers in the GP5000 that you ware down. Just cut a tire and look at it. Cheers
Been running tires with tubes forever but last two years it's just nothing but flats every week. Started running swalbe pro one tubeless tires since November of 2020 and not one flat yet. Of course have gotten some punctures but sealant sealed it up no problem. Love the these tires!

I’ve also done half a thousand on them and they’re great. Cornering is good, and the main thing for me is you get 25 at 25. Excellent if you lack frame clearance!
I’ve been riding on 25mm GP5K tube version for almost 1K km so far and I do agree that it doesn’t inspire confidence to me on cornering. I came from using 24mm sworks cotton turbo and 25mm vittoria corsa G version 1 where they felt more supple, smooth and grippy which I really liked. I’ve bought a pair of schwalbe pro one tube version and it’s on its way to my place now. Hoping the souplesse and grip will satisfy what I’m seeking over the GP5K
Great review Ronald I run GP5000TL's and lik them but admit the ride quality is firm and would consider a more supple option if durable (I'm 85kg). I think your point about tire shape is something that isn't discussed enough and lately its all about wider internal widths and many going hookless but few reviewers talk about handling in detail. Unless a narrow road tire is designed for a very wide 25mm or even 23mm internal width it will affect tire shape making it quite square and affect handling. Lots of riders dont push that hard in the corners so thye may not notice and just appreciate the better ride quality or braking traction but if your more advanced, aggressive or racing at some point wider isn't likely better and leads in my experience to a tire that is less confident at high lean angles and more on/off in its behavior. You want a nice consistent profile. I have 25mm internal width rims for gravel and cant imagine running less than a 30mm tire on them and expecting good results without a tire pruposely designed for a really wide rim.
I haven't ridden my new wheel setup yet, but I went from a 21 to 23mm internal width. On the 21 I was using 28mm TL and it seemed to crave very well. I just made the switch to 23mm internal and 30mm; all Schwalbe Pro ONE TLE Addix. I'm excited to find out if the handling improves.
Thank you for your review. I use the tube version, 25mm for a year now with a total of 6400 kilometers. The tyres surprised me in a very pleasant way as I was used to the Continental GP series for quite some years (3000/4000/4000s/4000sII). In the beginning of 2020 I started to rid on the Schwalbe Pro One (tube version). The roll resistance is may be the only feature on which the Continental is slightly better. I think the souplesse and grip of the Schwalbe Pro One tyre is well up to the Continental GP5000. Would I buy the Schwalbe Pro One (Tube version) again? Yes, for sure. The tyre is so good in practice on the road. Chapeau to Schwalbe with this outstanding Pro One tyre.
Your comment is two years old but maybe you can answer still? In general I am MTB rider but last time I like gravel/road riding too. Longer trips on the road are tiring on grave tyres so I decided to update my gravel bike - change the wheels. I've just mounted new set of 32c pro one tube onlu on my FF Tyro rims (19 mm IW) without problems by fingers (helped by AC power cable) - I pumped initial pressure ca 3 bar (small pump at this moment) and I measured 29 mm width only. But it look nice - lot of thread on the sides so I expect good grip also when I will go in non vertical position. Seems the air volume "went to' wheel diameter what is OK for me. Could you tell me from your experience what pressure is optimal? According to Schwalbe Max pressure allowed is 5.5 bar (big pros for me) - till now I am using 38C allround tyre on 2-3 bar pressures on DT swiss 24 mm IW to keep comfortable ride. I plan keep theese wheels for winter time and for summer use faster FFWD+ 32C pro one. Volume is important for me (comfort and carbon rim safety on bad quality roads reason) so I decided do a compromise and I have choosen 32C instead of 28C. I also installed heavy tubes continental race 28 - seems a little heavy (over 100g). Maybe I will change them for much lighter tubes but I must be sure they will be also safe in longer trips. Do you have any experience with light tubes? I mean a latex tubes or Pirelli smart and similar.. Latex requires to be pumped very often as far as I know so I think what to buy also light but without this feature.
Great review! I switch from 25mm GP5000TL to this Schwalbe in 28mm on ENVE Foundation ! That’s juste perfect for training, really confortable ! Appreciated on looooong ride !
Interesting to hear about the rolling resistance. I switched from Pro One TLE (the previous gen Pro One though) to Conti 5000TL and also started to get the impression that they were slower after a while. The reduction in comfort was immediately apparent, the Conti’s are a lot stiffer. As for the road feel, the Schwalbe’s are my favourite tires hands down. Still, I wouldn’t go back, but for 2 reasons which are unimportant to someone who races: Endurance and puncture protection. Especially the last point is where the Conti’s are much better, at some point I had 2 flats in 2 weeks and lost confidence in the Schwalbes. So far I had 0 with the Conti’s. If like me you like to do long trips in the mountains, alone, that’s an important factor.
sorry to be off topic but does any of you know a tool to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my login password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
@Anderson Mauricio thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Having the new Schwalbe myself on my Canyon Ultimate in a tubeless setup and I can admit that they feel great on the road regarding cornering and speed, they are easy to install but what’s a disaster is wear and cut resistance. After not even 2000 km one full break was enough and they started leaking, sealant was unable to close the leakage (only chance tubes back in). All wear marks on the rear are gone on the rear t yre while front looks like new (driver weight 84 kg). After swapping tyres front/rear on the next ride the looking new tyre got a cut from a small stone on the road. As I’m neither a watt monster nor rode on unusual roads that’s very disappointing especially when you see the price. Will try the GP 5000 now.
Ronald Kuba you tube users are the most unlucky people in the world, this is the place for horror stories. Maybe I’m just lucky and don’t have all these issues. And that goes for all my sports and hobbies
Just curious, have you tried the Vittoria Corsa G2 in tubeless? I've only used GP5000 TL with positive results but wanted to try other alternatives (This Schwalbe included).
Thank you Ronald for this review. I was wondering what pressure you ride with the 25mm and 28mm Pro one tires set tubless? And whats your weight? I am currently riding the GP5000 TL in 25 and 28mm and are trying to find the perfect pressure. I am 70kg.
Hi Ronald, do you plan on testing the new Michelin Power Road TLR? It seems to be the newest and closest direct competitor to the Schwalbe Pro One TLE, and it's also very slightly faster in rolling resistance. I'm also excited about the new Pirelli P Zero Velo TLR (not yet released), that seems to be going through final testing at the moment
Hi Ronald, do you plan to test the S-Works Turbo Rapidair as well? Or maybe have you already tried them? I'm very happy with them and they mount very easily too. Well, compared to my previous Corsa G2.0 I guess everything mounts easy. After your review, thinking to put the Schwalbe on some dt-swiss wheels with 18mm inner width on my fixed gear bike.
hi, a little late here. did you follow schwalbe's strict installation instructions (ie. specific sealant, immediate riding a certain distance) or did you air up using your sealant of choice? thanks in advance.
In the ENVE 4.5 AR, what's the tire clearance size with the wider rim? Do you find the effective size of the tire with wider rim goes beyond the 28 size? I have a 30 clearance on my r5 frame
could you indicate the tyre pressure you have been riding these with your weight? I have tried them too, with quite low tyre pressure also considering the recommended Enve tyre pressures for a TL setup which are quite low! In my experience this worked well in terms of comfort and puncture resistance, but also a better sealant functionality in case of a puncture due to less aggressive sealant spray ;-).
Hey Ronny, have you ever had the issue of tubeless sealent leaking through the sidewalls? I have this problem where if its not ridden for a day or two, a small amount of sealent seeps out of the sidewalls
Hi Justin, mine did this for about 3 weeks then they sealed up really well. Now they hold air for at least 14 days between pumping. Earlier generations, yes they are 3rd now, were a bit less prone to this.
Bought a pair of Schwalbe Pro One TLE and tried to install them on Giant PR2 wheels yesterday. Would not seat. Tried tubes to seat which worked but lost the seating on deflation. Used a compressor tank and recharged 3 times without success. Decided to use tubes to seat and run with after. Needed to inflate to the maximum 7.5 bar to get to seat then reduce to correct pressure. Got 2 punctures today, that is 24 hours after installation. My Giant road bike is 3 years old, 2 sets of tubeless before the Schwalbes and zero punctures in 3 years. 2 in 24 hours cannot be right. Putting new tubes in again to give them a chance but not confident and will replace with another brand if unsuccessful. Also I use Schwalbe on my mtb without problem.
Update - I ditched the Schwalbes for a pair of Gavia tubeless (Giant own brand, similar to those on the bike when bought new). I also replaced the rim tape. Tyres popped on by hand only, inflated and seated with a floor pump only. Heavier and less flexible than the Schwalbes but half the price. Comfortable on a 30k ride this morning. Will stay with these unless a problem occurs.
My experience was total disappointment with these tires in the 25C size. My first set I thought something was wrong with the tires. On fast smooth perfect tarmac I experienced a vibration that first led me to think something was wrong with my bike. The bike was fine it was the tires causing the vibration. I contacted Schwalbe and they were great, they sent me two new tires right away. But guess what, they acted the same way. I kept using the tires for about a week until I ran over something in the road, I never found out what it was, but it flatted both front and rear tires and the tires would never hold air again. I went back to the 24C Bontrager R3 tires I have been using and all is great again.
All schwalbes good for track/ velodrome use. Not for the outdoor. Only one good for road and tt, Maxxis Re-fuse can go to gravel as well. Not only for the long highway. You can ride on re-fuse for the whole month without any single puncture. I used to ride 1000km per week, 5 days riding, 2 days resting...on normal road in Thailand back and forth. Yet a bit reduce in performance and speed. Oval crackset may do the trick for speed and power wattage recoveries. 🤟🤟😝
Got GP5000 TL to replace Giant Gavia AC 1 but couldn't get them on Giant SLR One wheels. Shop said they could with difficulty but I would struggle to remove. What are the Schwable like to fit ? Gone back to S Works Turbo clinchers
Just bought new propel with gavia tires on SLR aero wheels. I'm gonna try shwalbe pro one instead of GP5000, because shwalbe are easier to install , at least I hope so
The first set of these I had were great. However, the latest ones are rubbish - multiple punctures, and one even leaks air/sealant via the sidewall when fully inflated. Poor qualtity control in manufacturing it seems - moving over to Conti's instead now.
these hutchinsons are really good...i bought schwalbe pro one 2020 tube type so we shall see...today i broke my record and sets on hutchinsons 30mm fusion performance, on 10km flat road 39.2 km/h avarage speed on my non aero bike arbea orca 25team D(queit heavy bike)
hutchinson galaktic 25mm must be fire as well🚲🔥but in the future i will ride 25mm corsa speed vorne and specialized 26mm cotton turbo hinten with latex tube.

I have tried them too, with quite low tyre pressure also considering the recommended Enve tyre pressures for a TL setup which are quite low! In my experience this worked well in terms of comfort and puncture resistance, but also a better sealant functionality in case of a puncture due to less aggressive sealant spray ;-).
yes, please add your tyre pressure and weight
77 psi/70kg system weight
@@ronykuba so 5.3bars. Thanks!!
Hey Ronny, have you ever had the issue of tubeless sealent leaking through the sidewalls? I have this problem where if its not ridden for a day or two, a small amount of sealent seeps out of the sidewalls
Not with this tire
It can be a minefield unfortunately
I went back to the 24C Bontrager R3 tires I have been using and all is great again.
uhm
Indonesian build quality
All schwalbes good for track/ velodrome use. Not for the outdoor.
Only one good for road and tt, Maxxis Re-fuse can go to gravel as well. Not only for the long highway.
You can ride on re-fuse for the whole month without any single puncture. I used to ride 1000km per week, 5 days riding, 2 days resting...on normal road in Thailand back and forth.
Yet a bit reduce in performance and speed. Oval crackset may do the trick for speed and power wattage recoveries. 🤟🤟😝
Uhm. Re-fuse for TT? Good luck with that.
Any idea , why new tubeless tyres begin with 25 mm size, there are no more 23 mm
There are no more rims narrower than 25mm.
The gp4000 in 23mm is the same size as the gp5000 in 25.
Those aren't much better in that regard
try pirelli p-zero. nobody rides conti or schwalbe in moto gp or f1
That's a pretty rubbish argument
Ianis Caratti or put metal tracks on, that’s what my digger has..hard to beat
Hutchinson Fusion 5 Performance 11Storm
Are better.
these hutchinsons are really good...i bought schwalbe pro one 2020 tube type so we shall see...today i broke my record and sets on hutchinsons 30mm fusion performance, on 10km flat road 39.2 km/h avarage speed on my non aero bike arbea orca 25team D(queit heavy bike)
hutchinson galaktic 25mm must be fire as well🚲🔥but in the future i will ride 25mm corsa speed vorne and specialized 26mm cotton turbo hinten with latex tube.
I like your style and content Ron,but your far too light a rider to give accurate reviews. I found the gp 5000's to flat like tissue paper so I've had'em in the dark for nearly a year hoping against hope I can ride them more than a mile next time without a flat, and I'm sure the same is true of the Schwalbe. Still I like your channel, even though I can never use what you review.
I have 100kg customers riding the GP5000s with zero issues, so I don't think the problem is in the tires
@@ronykuba Baby smooth roads without a spot of gravel or glass maybe, but in London forget it.
GP5000 is really rubbish. Cracks started to appear after 500k.
I have the same experience and am waiting for Conti to comment. Runs nice but the cracking / crazy paving appearance does nothing for confidence.
Very poor puncture protection
that is relative
As usual, lots of claims and no facts.
Such as?
So how do you want to compare corner grip and comfort if not for feeling ?
@@ronykuba GP5000 gets slower over time and other tires get faster. Schwalbe then is faster than the GP5000. Ride quality of the Schwalbe is much better than GP5000. Schwalbe corners faster and has more grip than GP5000. All based on your feel

@@ronykuba I am familiar with the gp5000 endurance test. Have you actually read it? After 3000km the gp5000 is on average 1,3W compared to new. Which is still 1,3W faster than a new Schwalbe Pro one tle addix. At 5.5 bar. Where is the endurance test for the Schwalbe?
