I own the GP5000 tubeless ready that came stock on my canyon Aeroad CFR, but run them with TPU tubes. They are a pain in the fingers to remove and put back on. I’m going to try the Pirelli’s next hoping they are easier to install. I will say they are very grippy tires for cornering.
Had GP 3k in the ancient past, then 4k series, switched to half-the price "just" GP at around 2016 (have 2nd pair in use). These feel slower (specially if brand new). Get faster (or feel faster) when worn a bit. All 23 mm, tubes. The only drawback of GP-s is that the side wall cracks show up fast and the singular fibers peal off. Though withstand 8, usually used at ~7 bar. Great? Sure! Lately bought Michelin Power Cup 25 mm ones for a 2nd pair of rims. In use with RideNow TPU tubes. Must say - pretty good.
GP 5000 STR in 28mm and 32mm. Just works. Some complain they puncture too easily, but they also seal very well so not a concern for me. Will be using with TPU this fall and maybe that will change my outlook.
I had bad very experiences with Vittoria Corsa, too tight, too stiff so it was quite hard to install them. The whole tyre is porous so it needs to be very well covered with sealant. Now riding Maxxis High Road and they seem to be pretty good so far.
Try Panaracer Agilest. I switched to them after Conti discontinued the Attack/Force combo. Extremely well made, light, smooth running/no bumps, wear well (rear squares off much more slowly than the Force did), zero punctures so far. I'm running the 23/25 normal ones, they also make lighter "Light" and slightly heavier "Duro" versions which I haven't tried yet.
What is your corsa next size? Will definitely buy it, especially after reading your comment😂 but still confuse to decide which size between 28, 30, and 32 Thanks in advance
I'm sure the continental gp5000 is great. But when I look for a tyre I first look at the tread pattern. I go for something kinda slick but also still usable in wet conditions. And it just looks like a pure slick apart from a bit of tread on the side walls. I just couldn't trust it as permanent use tyre (in England) For braking hard on the wet/dirty roads. So the (5) must only be in dry conditions. - I'm probably going to get the VIttoria Rubino Pro. 30c front, 32c rear. I'm not sure if it matters if I get a ridgid/clincher or a folding tyre. I'm fairly new to road bikes. And also trying to convert to tubeless tyres.
Great review Tom. Would have liked to have seen the Maxis HYPR on the list. I ran them for a few years and they seemed faster and more comfortable than the top of the range Pirelli P Zeros at the time. Just changed to Goodyear Eagle F1 and I'd say I've taken a step back 😔
im starting to say fuck tubeless on new mtb bikes. is ruins the paint and still never is usefell for a real puncture. the tubeless itself is useless after like a month. people dont really know that. It degrades FAST.
@@MainUkraine your country is shit mate. Tpu is way better the latex. Almost same rolling resistance but waaay lower weight and at least it holds air unlike latex
I had a choice between 28mm tubeless vittoria corsa/corsa control and gp5000 32mm (wanted to try something wider, like 30mm but it wasn't in stock so f it) non tubeless (and already have some ridenow tpu tyres ordered). Pretty much the same price point, gp5000 s tr was too much for me honestly since I am more of a MTB rider anyways and ride road just for training and couldn't in my sane mind convince myself to pay 65e per tyre when I ordered the whole set of non tubeless for 80 lol. I hope that i will like the gp5000s XD
Vittoria Corsa Pros accounted for most of the punctures at Paris-Roubaix last week...GP5000s feel great when they're new, but after about 1500km they become harsh and the rubber compound seems to degrade... I've moved all my road bikes and gravel bike to Pirellis...
Vittoria Corsa turned out disaster for me. I rode Giant tires that came together with Giant TCR Advanced 2 KOM for over 10,000km before I realized I need to change the back tyre. Then I went for Vittoria Corsa and after 8 months and little over 1000km the rubber started peeling of and got flat tire on my first triathlon.
i would like to see maxxis HYPR and michellin power cup competition on the list. heard lot of good stuff about the maxxis and michellin but dont know what to go for.
I currently have them on my Bianchi - but they don’t fill me with confidence in wet conditions. I’m just about to swap them out for Pirelli P7 Sports - hopefully they’ll work out better in the wet!
Once continental gp5000, it’s really hard to adapt to other brands🤭
GP5000 + Vittoria Latex Tubes, best combination in terms of puncture protection and rolling resistance I‘ve tried
Exactly what I’m running currently and no complaints. Fast, grippy and good puncture resistance…what not to like?! 😊
The goat for me are the GP5000 in 28mm the only difficulty is that they are a bit
hard to get on the rim
Oh yes, as much as I love them, I always dread the moment I have to get them on or off the rim 🙈
I think the 4 for usability is a little generous... Maybe a 2. Or still too kind?

Good vid. You should defo check the Good Year Eagle F1r and the Michilen PowerCup. The power cups are warping my mind.
Agree with all that. For winter riding or bike packing where you are carrying a load, I would go for Conti Grand Prix 4 Seasons or Pirelli P Zero 4S.
The GP5000 are a great tire. I switched to the Pirelli P Zero's this year. For my self I will stick with P Zeros
Gee Tom, will be interesting conversations when the Reps visit the shop...good on you for voicing an opinion

No point using S TR tubeless version with any tube. Original GP 5000 clincher is better, lighter, and much more puncture resistent.
Correct - but not sure the tube will stay 😉@@Gianniz27

Goodyear f1 eagle is worth a look. P zero is my favourite. No tire lever install wins out over crashing and burning on the wet corners...
Old Pirelli p zero velo is still my favourite

Nice vid Tom. Great review on the tyres
Great video! I might have to finally give in and try the gp5000s 😅
Have the gp5000 in the 32mil. Very happy.
Im seeing 7 hundred different P zero. which one are those?
Been enjoying the new Vittoria Corsa N.EXT tyres. I find then more comfy than GP5K and just as fast rolling. Love to see your evaluation on it.
What is your corsa next size?
Will definitely buy it, especially after reading your comment😂

IMO Continental makes the best road bike tires and Maxxis makes the best MTB tires, no contest!

maxxis hypr has a lower range of pressure recommendation than pirelli p zero, could that be, what make them difference in terms of comfort?
@@dddreeeeeee at the time I ran the same pressure in both.
pirelli pzero okay but which one ? pzero race ? pzero race sl tlr ?
I really like the Pirelli’s. More thank the GP5000’s
My main point is FUCK road tubeless. Just use clinchers with tpu tubes. Lighter, faster, easier

Hi Tom Good review.
What is your opinion about the Specialized Robaux 25mm tyre and tube combination?

Challenge Criterium RS TE series TLR. 230g for 25mm! 350 TPI casing! They are fast!

Test the Maxxis super high road tyre
Challenge Criterium RS 27. Fast! Light! Armor!
Schwalbe 28mm tle go well on my bike!
Rubino pro II is the most underrated tyre out there.
Why?
Pirelli Zero !
I’m 103 kg
The gp5000 str 25 mm is the best tyre ever created
99% are the same 😅
GP 5 is light years ahead of the old but great GP 4
GP5000 are no more difficult to get on than any other tire. Most people have no technique.
conti all the way bru
Can I get a couple of those tires lol
Love my Schwalbes
Had a couple of Vittorias fail... I can't trust them as a brand anymore.

can i get a review on gator 🐊 skins
Conti GP5000 are a great tyre but they just cannot get the sidewalls right. Just had a new tyre herniate in 2 places after less than 400 miles.
