- Hello world! In the midst of the Coronavirus, 3D printing is a viable method of manufacturing supplies such as face masks needed by hospitals around the world. If you have a 3D printer, follow this simple tutorial to make your own masks and donate them to hospitals in need!
DISCLAIMER: (Updated 3/27/2020)
This design was a first draft by the company and was not intended to be the final form. Improvements to this design include using a HEPA filter cutout in place of the cotton pad, and adding foam seal around the ENTIRE perimeter to unsure no air gaps remain on the sides of your cheeks.

Materials:
-3D printed parts
-Cotton Pad Makeup Removers
-Hot glue gun
-Hair dryer
-2 Rubber Bands
-Window Foam Seal
Print Time: ~3 Hours
Assembly Time: ~10 mins
Additionally, there are many other 3D Printed face shield projects which may in fact be simpler and more effective at being face shields than this mask is at being an N95 mask. Here are links to two of those projects:

Ok great work now add 1 extra filter they are made from nano copper mesh . Chili tested these new nano copper mesh filters that works very very well . It screwed up the DNA within the nucleus of the virus cells . Where do we find nano copper mesh or even extra fine copper mesh ?
These I doubt will work. It does not seal the face properly so you would get more air at the gaps than it filtering through the air vent. Secondly PLA in general is highly prone to bacteria due to it being a rough surface of the printing layers. Copper is antimicrobial but if it is infused in the PLA only the exposed portions (if any) of the copper will kill microbes. That aside I don’t know anything that confirms that corona virus is affected by copper, there’s a good chance but I wouldn’t bet on it like I wouldn’t bet on that mask
You have some good points. The mask must be formed (reheated and shaped) very well in order to be sealed to your face, it is possible but it takes some work. The foam window seal helps fill those gaps. Here is an article confirming that coronavirus is affected by copper (99% disinfected after 4 hours): www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMc2004973. However, as you mentioned, copper-infused PLA may not be as effective as raw copper.
Another way to look at it isn't, will it stop Coronavirus, but will it decrease the risk. Yes, it is not a form fit and some air will get thru. But some won't and will go thru the filter, hopefully catching it. I mean, if you put this on and walk thru a room of CV-19 patients all coughing, yeah, probably won't help. But if you are looking to just decrease the odds of catching it from some random droplets in the air... It might help. Also, if you have CV-19 and don't know it, this will also decrease (not eliminate) the amount of droplets that get out from you to the air. Is this better than a real mask. No. Is it better than no mask. Probably. How much better? ????? Worth it? ????? Also, I don't buy the copper value in this, and yes you'd have to wash this mask a lot.

Also, I know I said I'm not a scientist, but I talked to someone who knows more about science than me. Here is a paper showing the effectiveness of copper against COVID-19:

Copper infused PLA doesn't give you any more or less protection, it's a marketing gimmick.
See my second video where I talk about this filament in more detail: ruclips.net/video/X25sQwk8jro/видео.html
The filament is STILL in stock in the Netherlands, buy it here:

I made one yesterday. Your idea of rubber padding is awesome.
Can you please post a video of you riding the electric ripstick to the grocery store wearing this mask? My kids would be thrilled to see it
Please read the full video description before making your own mask. If you are looking to donate as a maker, or anyone really, this website can connect you with hospitals in your region!

When’s the CNC covid-19 mask coming out
Thanks for the video. I am having problem getting my mask to fit but work in progress. As for the pl-active materiel, the key here is a good seal and I plan on using dual layers of Cabin air filters for cars. They are rated the same as N95 material. Also these should be able to be cleaned with Lysol or bleach which would kill any virus or other bacteria. Strong work my friend. Thanks for the video and example.
In the UK it's Self-adhesive Draught seal. 10 quid at B&Q under a fiver on Ebay

Great idea. Just curious what is "aluminum like" filament that you used for the first version of your mask?

What 3D printer did you use and where can I buy it
I have a Creality Ender 3 Pro. It's a great printer for the price (~$230).

Can you please tell me how you made arm on your automatic door from 7 years ago ?
Hi Ian, I do not have build instructions unfortunately. The key is to gear the motors down in order to produce enough torque to pull and push the door. I made it without instructions, so I bet you can too!
Thank youEric invetor
Hey Eric inventor do you have instagram ? I made the door arm I plan on putting this in my jumbo Lego house
Hi Ian, sorry but I dont have an instagram. Maybe in the future Ill make one!
Sick edit bro. Whats the song at 2:43?

What are the dimensions supposed to be? The pieces are crazy huge when downloaded and opened up in cura,
try scaling the parts down by 25.4 (AKA convert from inches to millimeters)
@@ericinventor I do not wish to bemoan your work I just want to replicate it so that others can save lives. As with Tristan the same applies in simplify3d but changing from inches to mm does not alter anything. And resizing by percentage creates a mismatch with the other objects. Any ideas? Thank you anyway if you don't have time to reply.
@@slicedpage I fixed the file dimensions on thingiverse. Please try downloading the files again, it should be the right size now without needing to scale it.
@@ericinventor top man, thank you. "To the Print Cave Robin!"
If they buy the PLA I’ll make the mask
Good job Eric!
