All problems with camera after 3 weeks usage: 1. Fog up the lens of the camera module 360. Although the 360 module itself has never been in the water. 2. The Camera freezes very often (does not respond to anything) and you can only fix it by removing the battery, but sometimes it does not work even after that. Sometimes the camera reports that the module is not connected, although it is still in place but is not detected by the camera. when you rearrange the modules, nothing changes. 3. over time, the mounting screws for the module connectors are loosened. 4. Leaking (not sealed) the cover of the card slot. 5. Very small screen, this causes the following problem. 6. Tiny controls (icons) of the camera menu, it is difficult to hit them with a man's finger, you often make mistakes. Some menu items can't be accessed at all (frame rate selection), so you always get to the Indoor Low-Light Stability item. 7. Confusing menu. 8. Some warnings (for example Basic stabilization) cannot be read (not scroll down), for example, when switching to mp4 file saving mode. 9. If you are somewhere in the menu, it is not possible to start recording or exit the menu with the record button. You have to spend time to navigate back through all these items, to start shooting, you need to exit the menu item. Very long exit from the menu where there are many tabs, for example in the settings item. 10. the Menu slows down when scrolling. 11. Microphone is worse after being submerged in water. 12. It is not possible to trust the indication of the battery charge level. The camera may turn off even though the battery charge showed 30%.
yes youre right!ive seen so many complaints about this camera that many big youtubers dont tell maybe they are paid by insta360 but man tell the truth! there are so many issues about this camera!
Wow! Thank you very much for this! I also find that a lot of these reviewers don’t mention these issues but “regular” reviewers on Amazon, etc, mention all of them.
given 4K module sensor size (1/2.3"), if you calculate its sensor equivalent to the 1" sensor, you should get f/5.8. The 1" sensor has an aperture of f3.2 so it's gather almost 2 stops of light compare to 1/2.3" with f2.8 aperture. it's a massive difference.
The modular system is a smart concept in terms of their marketing team. As of this post, the basic One R 4k is only $250. That's practically half the price of the current GoPro 10 and it doesn't sacrifice that much in terms of quality either. Then after someone buys this, maybe a year later, they'll just think "oh, I'll just spend $150 more to get the 360 degree module". Then eventually the 1 inch, and then oh my just $50 more for the higher capacity battery pack.
Great update and information on Insta360. Your comment on external mic adapter is SO true for all vendors. I know it takes up space however, there are two solutions. 1. Microphone manufactures create a USB "c" connection - fits a ton of new systems, no adaptor, allow a pass through for charging. (wow no possibly a powered mic!) 2. Action Camera add (thought it takes up valuable space) the port for external mic (least favorite option).
The bigger battery negates the need for the cage to use with accessories, which would work easier with the 1 inch sensor. I agree that the whole mic adapter thing is a pain! Did you try the Osmo Cynova one in this and vice versa? The Osmo one seems pretty stable to me compared to this one sticking out like that. Plus, you get the ability of constant power through the Cynova one.
Great vid Aldryn, my OneR Twin Edition arrived on Thursday I haven't had much time to use it but it seems a fantastic camera I also got the Ulanzi MT-11 flexible tripod for £17 which was a bargain it's pretty rugged and super flexible, keep up the great work 📸
You mention the mic. What I dont loke about this adapters is the the camera is not longer whaterproof. They should create a way to comunicate a least with the rode wireless go that will be a great idea
nice review. Have you considered getting a balance bike for your kid? The whole idea behind learning how to ride a bike is learning balance and no one will ever learn balance on a bike with training wheels. My son learned balance on his balance bike within 4 days. It happens fast.
The 1 inch module is £510 in the UK (as at March 2021), but the 4k wide + 360 combo can be purchased for as little as £230. I already have a GoPro Hero 7, which I bought for £175 on the used market. I'm going to buy the combo, as I cannot justify spending £510 for something that isn't that much better than the GoPro. I cannot help but feel that you are being fleeced for the "Leica" name on the lens.
Thank you very much for this review Aldryn! It's sad that Insta360 didn't manage to fix the Red Spot Of Death yet in their 360 lenses kit. It was there in their previous models as well... Seems they didn't learn from their mistakes :S
Hi, great stuff! I’m not sure if you can help me. 3 questions on things I’ve read on Insta360 1 inch: 1) max record time of 28-29mins. Does that improve if using an external battery pack? 2) When using external battery packs, you need to press the ON/OFF every 10mins? Means, I can’t leave it alone to record a 2 hr footage? 3) Are there any recording gaps when shooting longer videos? I.e. the cam saves the video into smaller blocks of 30mins and are there any gaps between those files? Usage will mainly for my drumming footage for concerts. Considering this Vs GoPro 9

Nice review... Did you have issues w the Insta360 1” mod when viewing video inside of the Insta360 iPhone iOS app? My videos are jerky, horrible buffering, at the higher image settings, videos start and then stop about every second. Doesn’t matter if the video is still on the micro SD card or downloaded to the ‘local’ folder on the iPhone. (8 plus). Problem goes away if you drop down to 1080p. great video! I got a Mavic Mini after watching another video of yours. Thanks. Now, I have a ONE X and I really like it. I wish it had better video quality, but it's ok. I also have a Gopro hero 8 and it's great, but I'm considering selling them and getting a ALL in ONE so to speak...would the ONE R Twin Edition be the best option? I have seen some videos with the ONE R that have some stitching problems but I'm sure firmware solved those issues. Also, is the video quality in the ONE R twin edition really MUCH better than the ONE X? I'm debating...hmm. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the video. Rather odd you omitted to mention the minimum focus distance of the 1inch sensor which makes it almost compulsory to use some kind of tripod/monopod solution for talking heads / vlogging... didn’t you experience the impact of this design limitation from Insta360? Cheers from London, Christophe
FlytPath hey, thank you for your response. Fair enough. I just commented because you said that the 14mm FOV allowed you to not use a monopod/tripod whilst vlogging... so I was keen to find out if you confirmed the MFD wasn’t a problem for vlogging handheld? That is one of the key reasons I for one didn’t buy the One inch sensor module...
Christophe Langlois for sure. I honestly don’t feel the 1 inch is worth it. I did not see a significant enough difference from what I expected. The 1 inch Sony rx 100 I have is so much clearer and I expected better results.
FlytPath agreed. The more I use my Sony ZV-1, the more I love it. I invite you to check my playlist which currently counts 19 videos on the ZV1... the next one, focused on vlogging, should drop tomorrow. Cheers, C
@@ChristopheLanglois Nice Ill check it out. I have a short video of my first impression of the ZV1. I really think its a bang for buck camera. same. Been hearing so much about fogging.
