So, it's the funniest thing! I came here to find out how to use my GoPro. I opened it yesterday and was extremely upset because I couldn't get the stupid mounts to slide together. No matter how hard I tried, they weren't going together!! I got out the mount from my old FakePro so I could at least have something to hold my camera. Turned on my GoPro and realized the user interface has little in common with the fake one. Decided to just wait until I could get online to research how to use it. Imagine my embarrassment to have one of the very first things tell me how to use the mount correctly. Stopped the video to write this and am now returning with much enthusiasm to learn what this camera has to offer :) THANKS SO MUCH!!

I don't normally watch videos this long all the way through, but I did on this occasion. Very helpful in the decision-making process whether to use an action cam like the GoPro for everything, or use different cameras for different scenarios ie Motorcycle Vlogging vs. Photographic Vlogs. I would like to hear more on the best way of capturing audio though.
Thanks! Yeah, I'd say in general if you want to simplify you're editing life, then capture the audio using the Media Mod and an external mic (I use the Rode Wireless Go II, but anything really works).

First time watching one of your videos and I'm very impressed. Everything is clearly explained and easy to understand. I've been wanting a GoPro for years to try out vlogging but now need one due to a more serious issue. I'm disabled and can't drive, so I use a bike to get to work. People in my town couldn't care less if someone is walking or on a bike. I've nearly been hit several times including just last night when a guy ran a red light and would have turned right into me if I had been walking just a bit faster. At least I'll have video evidence if I ever get hit.
May you help me I’m in a pickle with GoPro 10. I want to record audio from an external mic using a 3.5mm input . I also want to keep the GoPro charging. What would be the best way to go around this? Seems so wasteful getting the Mod Case just for a 3.5mm jack. Also thank you for your reply to my comment on your "GoPro Hero 10 Black Review" :D
I’m by no means a professional on any of this but I got the I think the Media Mod is probably your best bet since it adds a 3.5mm jack and an easier to access type-c port. That’s exactly how I have mine setup with my external rode mic and portable battery
Honestly, the only way it works to charge + mic is the Media Mod, unfortunately. GoPro doesn't support any sort of hubs or such. One minor thing that might help reduce the cost pain is the fact that the Media Mod is 30% off with the GoPro subscription - so puts it around $55. Not great, but hey, some savings is better than none...

I just brought a GoPro Hero 10. And was looking for a tutorial to take me through the specs of it. This video gave me the ultimate guide to start with my GoPro!!! Thanks for this...
Greetings from Aus! This is incredibly useful, Ray. Thanks for this. I have a Hero7 Black and I'm torn on whether I plonk down money for the Hero10 (am inclined to do so) or wait for the Osmo Action2. Only thing that is stopping me from plonking down money for the Hero10 are the stories that I hear on overheating - while I don't generally do >20min of recording (use cases are tennis, dogs, travel), sometimes I would (e.g. time-lapse); and hence I wouldn't want to limit my use cases bcos of this battery overheating issue. Any thoughts on this?
As I was charging my Hero 10 yesterday I noticed it was quite hot. Today I’m going to be trying it out on a river kayaking trip and will see how much it heats up when being used as opposed to while on the charger!
I just ordered the Hero10 yesterday, upgrading from the Hero7 Black. Overheating shouldn't be an issue unless you are running high frame rates and resolution in areas without airflow. This isn't an issue for me as i use it for Mountain Biking with heaps of airflow. If you search up GoPro Hero10 overheating tests you should find an extremely helpful video. Hope this helped :)
@@jl9365 nope there was no overheating but had some issues where it kept saying SD card error. Lost a lot of footage from various events and activities. It was apparently a GoPro software issue. Have yet to try a different SD card.

I know I am 2 years late to this, but I just got a great deal on a Hero10 and watched this video to prep for use. Great info! I’m sure the new editions have more features but I am really pleased with the 10.

@@Dcrainmaker I would like to ask question, maybe You could help. I already got my Gopro Hero 10 and really happy about it, but I noticed one thing. I tried to do Timewarp to slow-mo shot. Basically Timewarp towards object and then slow-mo around object. I tried to do it in Linear Lens setting and basically what I see on the backscreen of the camera while filming differs from from the footage. On the backscreen object is in frame but when I replay the footage object is not entirely or off-frame. I got the shot right when I switched to Wide lens setting. Is that normal? I thought Gopro will adjust backscreen to current setting so footage will look exactly like on backscreen. Is that normal? I asked this question i didn't get any respond so far. Would really appreciate any feedback.
I just got my first GoPro. Started with the GoPro Hero 10. There's so much to learn. Its almost overwhelming. Thanks for this video. Im going to need to come back to it often.
I just bought a Hero 10 bundle last week to help with my upcoming RUclips channel. I started an auto detailing business and so far I'm only capturing pics and vids with a Canon rebel camera. Not the best piece of equipment for this application. The Hero 10 is the first GoPro I've purchased since the very first GoPro. Thanks for this video!
The hero 10 is my first GoPro. Is it normal to not be able to plug in USBC while the battery door is closed. In other words do all the models not have an accessible USB port without opening the battery compartment? I wanted to use it as a dash cam but I can't drive around with the battery compartment open. Edit, I see you covered the accessory door with USB access later in the video. If I use it as a dash cam with the accessory door and the battery in and USB plugged in will it record while the USB cable is connected?
i stopped at middle too much in one plate for me will see more later ... !! excellent info NO BS , no distracting rhetoric, very focus on the business. verty good review. If somebody here answer me , will appreciate : for visiting a park, where takes are not fast, even more slow or static, what setting good be nice ?? cinematic ?? 4K 30 fps ?? I plan to do a long trip to a remote monument and want to select the right setting once there. If you are experienced user please recommend a setting good for this scenario. I repeat, takes will be more slow than anything. Thanks
Very helpful review I just go the GoPro 10 and I was frustrated since I own the 4, but your review show me step by step how to operate the camera. Thanks
I just bought one, and I'm 100% moving it along. I want to shoot video, not have to go to college to take vids. This thing is definitely not for me, I don't want or need the aggravation. I'd say look at your options first before buying one of these.
Ok DC this was info packed. Thank you. Do you have a video where you discuss the temp of the camera? I was ten minutes into your video and my camera got hot. It seems like you go on these adventures for longer than ten minutes. How do you deal with the hot camera? The instructions say when the camera gets hot then turn it off and let it cool. Well I just don't see you doing that when you are flying through the air or skiing down a mountain side. Many thanks for such inspirational activity. Nanette
Excellent video. You avoided all the idiots I hate that make videos. They talk about random shit for 20m before getting to the point of the video. You sir nailed it! Straight to the point, you didn't get side tracked rambling on about things that have nothing to do with what the video is about. Great video, to the point, honest, explained VERY well. Spoke clearly, I could go on. Excellent. You got a new Subscriber.

One advantage the Insta360 cams have over the GoPros is that they can use the 'FPV' FOV making their wide view non fish eye, for GoPro to do that you have to set it to linear FOV which does this huge crop

Thanks - much appreciated!
I just brought a GoPro Hero 10. And was looking for a tutorial to take me through the specs of it. This video gave me the ultimate guide to start with my GoPro!!! Thanks for this...
7.3 million people never read manual of GoPro but watched this video
Facts
Mine didn't coke with a manual
Like I’m sure everyone else has already said, thank you. BEST video helping me I’ve ever watched! Total beginner and you give me hope!😂😎
@@yintotheyang6433 hi did you notice any overheating issues?
@@ElliotsMTBi was thinking of getting the h10 for mountain biking too and some city walk have you noticed any over heating ?
@@jl9365 nope there was no overheating but had some issues where it kept saying SD card error. Lost a lot of footage from various events and activities. It was apparently a GoPro software issue. Have yet to try a different SD card.
This video is really helpful. It show you each and every settings you need to know about Hero 10.
You can just see the battery drop.
Very informative video. I just picked hero 10 for up coming trip to southeast Asia. I'm going to shoot alot of ruins, ancient architecture temples, and sunset/rise at the world's wonders Ankor Wat.
What are best settings to have available. I know I have to figure out time lapse and such.
Thank you again for sharing.
I know this video is a bit old, but I bought a GoPro 10 last month after watching this video. I've been following you for years, and your content is always superb. Thank you.
Thanks!!
I just got mine and just when I thought I had it all down, nope! Thanks for the video.
CLEARLY one of the best gopro hero 10 reviews on youtube. :) I am a new gopro user at 67yo still skiing and scuba and hiking and looking to do videos without using my damn iphone. lol. Thanks for the great rundown of camera options, clear and answered all my questions. Great job.
Love how fast you talk to get the info out. I have yet to buy one but watched the full video and am definitely grabbing one. Thanks from Australia
I know I am 2 years late to this, but I just got a great deal on a Hero10 and watched this video to prep for use. Great info! I’m sure the new editions have more features but I am really pleased with the 10.
Thanks for the comprehensive and detailed beginners guide / I refer to it every so often to fine tune shootings.
My husband bought me a GoPro 10 for Christmas and I know absolutely nothing about it. I was planning on returning it, but your video changed my mind and you showed me not only how to use it, but the accessories that are possible and now I'm looking forward to creating videos and pictures with it.
Thanks, Tereasa - enjoy and good luck!
You are my favourite tech reviewer. You speak of experience. Your honest reviews are detailed straight to the point, very informative. Keep up the great work mate!
Thanks - appreciate it!
I just bought my first hero 10 and watched your entire video. Very informative, great job, txs!
Loved the video, the way you were thorough and fast paced was perfect! It really helped me learn my 10. Thanks!!
I just upgraded from my old Super 8mm. This new 10 Black is so much easier to use and saves a ton of money on film! Thanks for the tips 👍
Super. Thank you so much for your help with that. I bought GoPro 10 and it's my first sport camera ever.
Very appreciate those hours and energy put into this video. Thanks, bro
Thanks!
Studying your video. Just a beginner and saving for the gopro. Thank you so much. Big help
Just ordered my first gopro (10). This was really useful, thanks
..I just got my hero10 today, my 1st gopro and slowly exploring it with your video guide :) very helpful Thank you
Your reviews always impress me, now to buy the Hero 10 and put into action your teaching.
Thanks - appreciate it!
If I use it as a dash cam with the accessory door and the battery in and USB plugged in will it record while the USB cable is connected?
i stopped at middle
too much in one plate for me
will see more later ... !!
excellent info NO BS , no distracting rhetoric, very focus on the business.
verty good review.
Thanks
Thanks for an excellent overview. I'm considering purchasing my first GoPro and this overview makes this decision so much easier.
I just bought one, and I'm 100% moving it along. I want to shoot video, not have to go to college to take vids. This thing is definitely not for me, I don't want or need the aggravation. I'd say look at your options first before buying one of these.
Just got my first GoPro (Hero 10) and your video has been super helpful. I definitely feel more comfortable with using it now.
Nanette
The most informative vlog on gopro 10 I have come across on youtube.Thank you
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
3:39 thanks that's what I was looking for. Yes I tried to open it on my brand new camera I got today.
A perfect guide.Thank you
Excellent video.
Obviously a topic that must be absorbed through multiple viewings. Thank You!
This was so helpful. First time go pro user here and this information is gonna help me utilize my go pro to its max
WOW! I don't comment on many videos, Thank you SO MUCH for an in-depth illustrative set-up review! THANK YOU!
I have an XMAS upgrade to the GP10 from my GP5. A bit overwhelmed with all the features and settings on the GP10. It never ends. Thanks for the great video. I am anxious to post up some videos with the new camera.
Thanks for this brilliant tutorial, DC Rainmaker! I just got a HERO10, and this video has been super useful to me.
Thank you for investing so much of your time and knowledge into it. Very happy to have discovered your channel.
All the best form Ukraine
thank you so much for this. I just got one of these used and there was no instruction manual. GoPro should sponsor you.
Wow, that is by far the most complete description of anything on RUclips! Thank you!
The information was very informative and extremely helpful for someone like me who is totally new to GoPro. MANY THANKS!!!
Appreciate all your hard work. Just got the Hero 10 as my very first GoPro and I had no idea what to do with it lol Your video helped me out a lot. The Lightning to USB adapter is going to be a lifesaver for me cos satellite internet is the only option where I live.
Cheers mate!
Thanks, appreciate it! Enjoy the new unit!
One advantage the Insta360 cams have over the GoPros is that they can use the 'FPV' FOV making their wide view non fish eye, for GoPro to do that you have to set it to linear FOV which does this huge crop
Thanks from San Diego, just bought a motorcycle and can't wait to shoot
hindsight is a lot like the share button on PS4 and PS5. its always recording up to 1 hour of playing and you can save long or short clips from it at any moment. pretty handy!
I'm thinking of buying a go pro 10 and I'm loving the video thanks and new subscriber well done 👍✅
Awesome! Thank you!
@36:11 the flipout mounts didn't come out till GoPro Hero 8 I believe.
