I was getting ready to go on cruise for my granddaughter’s graduation last year right when the Osmo Action came out. I wanted something that was waterproof and easy to use. I got the Action two days before we left. I only had the one battery, as they didn’t have any to buy. This little camera became my go to camera for everything, snap shots, video, and many other things. I was hoping to use it again this summer on another cruise, I guess that’s not happening. Those accessories would be great with my grandkids! Keep up the great work!
I'm an older guy and all this is new to me. I'm VERY impressed by DJI (want a Mavic Mini!) but this Osmo action camera seems incredibly flexible with a ton of cool features. A photog for >60 yrs I love all the new cameras and tools on the market, helping everyone have a "voice" to communicate their message...whether it's just to themselves to record memories, or post to the world.
I have 6 GoPros and this is the action cam I use. Motovlog, vlog, on top of my RCs. Osmo Action is way easier to use, so in turn you use it! I love mine.
This cam on a wearable gimbal is insane. I'm using it with a Feiyutech WG2, and it's unreal how smooth it is on a bike with a chestmount, or just walking on rough terrain. My only gripe is the battery life, so a powerpack is an essential accessory, especially if your Osmo is mounted in a cage on a gimbal. A generic 20000mAh powerpack will give you about four hours continuous shooting at 4k 48, if you start with a charged internal battery, as long as the camera doesn't spontaneously combust. If you take a five minute break every two hours, it shouldn't overheat.
The number one feature I look for is ease of use. Getting the camera on and quickly capturing the moment, especially with my kids! Love the channel by the way!
The best feature in an action cam should be how quick it can jump into action! Sometimes a moment flies past, and it would be amazing to capture it there and then. Great video and a detailed overview! Thanks 😊
I agree. Next version needs a 3.5mm jack. The adapter is nice but built in is one less thing to worry about. I've had GoPros in the past, but DJI really has me interested in this with the front facing screen.
I can't believe you posted this video today. I literally just this morning decided to purchase this unit to be my main camera for a fishing vlog that I'm preparing to launch. Naturally, being around the water it had to be weatherproof. Also, the Rocksteady feature will be necessary for filming in the boat as there is understandably a lot of movement. But most of all I think the overall versatility and abundance of accessories will win the day. After watching your video on the new Mavic Air 2, my plan is to pair the MA2 with the Osmo Action to cover all the bases I can. Your channel has been very instrumental in my decision to pursue this vlogging endeavor. Your list of products used in this video will serve as my template to assemble my initial package. A must have feature for me is good image stabilisation which the osmo action excels at with its rock steady feature. Another cool feature I've been getting in to recently is hyperlapse which can produce some cool results. But one of the main things I look for is how user friendly it is, to which I think the osmo action is top of the tree.

Compact size, waterproof, and image stabilization are my big things. I plan to use it a lot with my three kids. So having a pocket sized, waterproof camera that will still take high quality videos while chasing kids or hiking is a big must have for me.
I love how action cameras are waterproof, have great stereo sound (for family videography in theme parks), and in body stabilization. That trifecta is my must have... What has blown me away about DJI is how they keep doing updates...! The action is so much better than when they released it and I loved it then. Going forward, I'd love to see if a bigger sensor would increase low light performance. With that in mind... have you tinkered with the 1" mod on the insta 360 one-R?? I'd love to hear your thoughts/ watch your review of that 🤓. Thanks for the great content!
The ease of using it in wet weather without having to buy a separate housing is a great feature! It has lots of great features and specs, size, portability, video quality and so on, but outdoor/wet weather water proofing is a solid plus. The stabilisation, let me not forget that, is also a very strong plus. Awesome review, you do a great job. Each time you do this you really educate us on product pros and cons.
#1 action cam feature - user interface simplicity! You’re on the move! Is it recording? Did I get it set up right? What mode is it in? DJI got that correct with the dual screens and the one-button quick setups !

For me the form factor is the most important in action camera. In hand feel, durability that makes one feel confident about it. I have bought quite a few budget action cameras and never felt confident. But, as soon as OSMO came it my hand...it made me smile :)
I’m a vlogger in SF. Used the Osmo pocket with the rode wirless go. Love the portability but decided to buy the Osmo action for the stability and removal battery that the pocket didn’t have. Definitely can’t wait to use. 👍🏽
There are so many things to like about the Osmo Action but a couple of my favorites are the custom video profiles quick menu and the fact that the footage matches so well with my Osmo Pocket and Mavic Air.

The number one feature I look for in this camera is the ability to use it as a dash cam when driving. The loop feature on this little guy is awesome. Times are hard and when someone tries to blame me for an accident that wasn’t my fault I can rely on my Osmo Action buddy to help me out. I was also looking to get some accessories too but haven’t had a chance since this pandemic started. 👍

I use cameras in the cockpit of my plane. The biggest feature I appreciate so far with the cynova mic adapter is that this camera allows you to CHARGE while recording! That is incredible not having to stop and change batteries in flight etc! Would love to see the 3.5 jack also built in as well! Thanks
Number 1 feature for me is: Flexibility, even though it's not really a specific feature... the ability to just be able to use it for whatever you want makes this item the most valuable to me. Exactly why I decided to get this camera. (For my vacation aftermovie, my photography IG or just anything I have planned in the future)
The thing I look forward most in an action camera is a great lens with sharp 4K 60fps and slow-mo capabilities. The lightweight aspects of today's action cameras are also an important feature I look for. Having proper accessories are a must and filters are also a must for the absolute best quality imagery.
I like the all purpose action camera. This is my number one reason why I like this camera. The osmo, has all my purposes embed in its design! I do appreciate the designers having it waterproof and for it to have rock steady.
I love my Osmo Action and it was this channel that helped me make up my mind when I made the decision which camera to buy. I think that my favorite thing about this camera is it's capabilities in low light. A number of your comparisons showed that and my experiences in heavily treed areas while mountain biking have born that out. Now, I could always use another one for my tripod shots when I'm flying my Mini...
I look first at the stabilization, then I want a variety of shoot modes so that it can be adapted to most shooting situations, and that it is waterproof with a rugged housing so that it survives what it may be put through! I often use them as a "do everything" camera and not strictly for action.
It seems like a lot of others agree with me, but the rocksteady is my favorite feature. I have the original Osmo and to me the Action is so much more versatile, mainly due to the tiny size. I use the Action with a chest mount on my road bike. Love your videos!
Hi. I’m a blogger. I’ve been researching cameras for the past year. This video has now sold me. I want a rig that is light, portable and can almost do most things, including handling all weather conditions. My fave has to be the quick mode switch on the side.
I love the Osmo Action too, and I agree with all your points. One thing I’d like to see all current small cameras to have is longer battery life. The Osmo Action is not too bad, but double the capacity would be lovely. As a motorcyclist I’d like to connect permanent power, with a waterproof connector, and to have a remote control with big buttons and all day battery life. Just like the Drift Ghost S had. Loved that thing! Still do, actually!
Rock Steady was the #1 feature that got me to pay attention to the Osmo Action. 4K60 was a close 2nd. I am looking to upgrade my current underwater camera to an Osmo for both. Until now, I hadn't paid much attention to the quick select button feature but definitely a plus. Thanks so much for the updated review!
I have the osmo action. I use it as a all purpose camera as well. I think portablility packed with great video quality makes this camera a great choice and thats what I look for in an action camera because I cant really afford to have a camera for every scenario. Love your content and its awesome that you are offering something like this to your subscribers.
For me the most top feature of an action cam is the versatility in capture the moments I want to share. Is capable enough doing all activity i can do like outdoor, indoor, in or out of water. Is flexible to get the resolution/quality i like. Most importantly, I can share and edit in a fly. DJI Mimo app is very easy to use and can share and relieve the moment with your loved ones.
My favorite specs for the osmo are the full waterproofing, timelapse, and the option to shoot in log. Had this camera for a year and absolutely love it! Perfect for kayaking videos!
What i look for in action cam is functionality and ease of use fast access to different modes & settings. love ur dji product videos keep them coming...
Funny you should put out a 1 year after review of the Osmo Action. I bought my GP Hero 7 Black just days before DJI launched their Action. I don't see anyone commenting on ease of viewing their footage from the Action. I shot several timelapse on my Hero7 last week. Unless i'm missing something, it's a pain to do anything with them as it appears you have to use GoPro's Quick app. Ughhhhh Anyway,,, I think I'd really like the dual screen feature of this bad boy. It'd go great with my DJI Mavic Air & Mavic 2 Pro. 😊 If anyone has any comment on retrieving and using footage off of the Osmo Action, I'd greatly appreciate comments. Thanks for posting this video. I really like the front screen feature for check composition of the shot and the idea of giving this action cam to my kids for them to use and record content with too. Its a tough little cam thats easy enough that kids can use it.
It makes me appreciate what you do. If you test it for one year and test all the accessories that come out gradually during the year I know for sure that if I buy one now I am getting my moneys worth with the right accessories. Thank you for what you do as a service to us.
I also own a DJI Osmo Action for about a year now and yes that Quick Switch button is probably the most useful feature ever on any camera, it's so convenient when you're on the go, to quickly switch between you're favourite pre-sets, great functionality feature. As a small downside, the hyper-lapse and timelapse modes would be nice if you could record them in 25 FPS for us PAL users. But overall, great job DJI with this all-purpose camera/action camera.
...To be honest, I could not decide between the inage-stabilization and the de-warp feature, but with this camera, I did not have to...I love this thing so much!
I love using action cameras for hyperlapses on the go. I can mount them anywhere, have wide fov, and they are small and discrete so ppl dont notice them.
For me, the most important thing is video quality, with stabilization and durability right behind that. Ive had my Osmo Action for 6 months and haven’t had much of a chance to really do a lot with it, yet. Looking forward to being able to do more with it this summer.
Just simple and the best. Had Gopro and switched to Osmo and is pretty much better in my opinion. For average consumers, this is the most reliable action camera. Front screen is a must!
#1 Feature for me is the rock steady feature. I own a gutter cleaning company and I like to shoot videos of areas of concern on the roof and the stabilization is great for getting a quality video. A close second is the fact that it is waterproof. Needless to say, cleaning gutters = getting wet lol
I love my Osmo Action. My first action cam was a Yi Lite but the Osmo its my 2nd action cam I bought recently its superior in all. The front LCD screen its a most have in all action cameras. The Rocksteady its really great. Hope DJI can improve in the next generation in the mic adapter maybe with a 3.5 jack and change to 1 inch camera sensor for better video for use it in low light situations. I use it for recording during travel and record backstage photoshoots.
Hey there! I don't currently own an Osmo Action but I was in the process of checking out an action camera to buy and this one seems to be a really good option! I would mainly use it to make videos of my family and friends, playing, in the swimming pool, on vacation, etc. One feature that really impresses me is that rock steady stabilization. Great update! I would say #1 for me is the rocksteady stabilization feature and secondly also owning a DJI drone I am able to color correct the two camera shots together.

What I look for in my action camera is its ease in transferring footage to my ipad for mobile video editing. Thanks for the great video. Once i'm released from my home i want to get back to shooting and practicing with my Osmo Action. i was late to the game in getting mine and once i had it, traveling was pretty much out of the question. Dependable, good battery life, waterproof, usable menu without a bunch of stuff to look thru, as you stated to be able to directly plug in external mic, camera that has great accessories available, etc, thanks for the tutorial 👍
personally it's the reliability and the rock steady feature, since i usually record to play airsoft and run around the field and the camera will shake when i run, so the rock steady is definitely a must for a smoother video
I like how easy they can be to transport. Slip in a small case, and take on the go! I enjoy the night photo mode on my action camera and all the different shooting modes! Thank you for the video!
Not to the mention the best quality photo and video, the Rocksteady feature of Osmo Action is by far my favorite. I enjoyed that when I'm using my osmo during travels.
I absolutely love my GoPro Hero 7 Black. My two favorite features are the Hypersmooth and being fully waterproof out of the box. I wish it had the dual screens like the Osmo Action
I really like osmo action as an action camera but I also love to use it as a normal camera it has so many quick shots. And the really good thing is that you can use it under water without a water case. Osmo action has slow mo and so many other things that I love.

Regarding action camera, there are a bunch of features I usually look in, such as 4k, build quality, battery life, ease of use. But the main feature that I actually look in is the IMAGE STABILISATION, because a nice video footage may be ruined by not having this feature. So for this one, the biggest feature you highlighted that sold it for me was the full color front screen so you can see what your pointing at. I'm amazed no other camera has that, it's crazy. But also all the things it can do out of the box that GoPro can't..like fully waterproof, no fish eye perspective, better audio etc... Thanks!

Have loved using my Action for B Roll footage and easy to grab-and-go for family adventures (even letting my 4yr old granddaughter jump into the pool with it...FYI it does need the waterproof case if you're actually diving into water). Love the live stream option now but hoping they can add Twitter to the available services in the future.

planing for a action cam , choosing between osmo action and Go pro 8 , but as for a vlog cam, i think the front screen really attract me a lot and the price of the accessories also one of the factor.

The must have feature for me is the waterproof factor. Here in south Florida it rains off and on and if want to mount it on my car and go offroading with it or even for a bike ride around on of the fancier city's we have i dont want to worry about a little water damaging what I'm shooting with
#1 factor is that image stabilization rock steady . Im doing outdoor cooking videos and most of the times i want to capture 4k 60fps shots of the beautiful nature. You make me feel that dji osmo action is better then gopro hero 8 black and is alot more cheep in my country. So my next buy will be that cam for sure. I will be happy if i have this accessories for use in the future !
The best feature I'm looking for is the stabilization. Gimbals are great, but if you can get steady footage without one it's great. Basically eliminating one more thing from my gear bag.

Love the "true" waterproof feature , versitility and that DJI do ongoing firmware updates - only had great experiences with DJI

Reliability. If the camera shut down, froze or the file is lost so the camera is no worthing a penny.

I use cameras in the cockpit of my plane. The biggest feature I appreciate so far with the cynova mic adapter is that this camera allows you to CHARGE while recording! That is incredible not having to stop and change batteries in flight etc! Would love to see the 3.5 jack also built in as well! Thanks

Flexibility, even though it's not really a specific feature... the ability to just be able to use it for whatever you want makes this item the most valuable to me.
Exactly why I decided to get this camera. (For my vacation aftermovie, my photography IG or just anything I have planned in the future)
The thing I look forward most in an action camera is a great lens with sharp 4K 60fps and slow-mo capabilities. The lightweight aspects of today's action cameras are also an important feature I look for. Having proper accessories are a must and filters are also a must for the absolute best quality imagery.
I like the all purpose action camera. This is my number one reason why I like this camera. The osmo, has all my purposes embed in its design! I do appreciate the designers having it waterproof and for it to have rock steady.
I love my Osmo Action and it was this channel that helped me make up my mind when I made the decision which camera to buy. I think that my favorite thing about this camera is it's capabilities in low light. A number of your comparisons showed that and my experiences in heavily treed areas while mountain biking have born that out. I look first at the stabilization, then I want a variety of shoot modes so that it can be adapted to most shooting situations, and that it is waterproof with a rugged housing so that it survives what it may be put through! I often use them as a "do everything" camera and not strictly for action.
It seems like a lot of others agree with me, but the rocksteady is my favorite feature. I have the original Osmo and to me the Action is so much more versatile, mainly due to the tiny size. I use the Action with a chest mount on my road bike. Love your videos!
Hi. I’m a blogger. I’ve been researching cameras for the past year. This video has now sold me. I want a rig that is light, portable and can almost do most things, including handling all weather conditions. My fave has to be the quick mode switch on the side.

I love the Osmo Action too, and I agree with all your points. One thing I’d like to see all current small cameras to have is longer battery life. The Osmo Action is not too bad, but double the capacity would be lovely.
As a motorcyclist I’d like to connect permanent power, with a waterproof connector, and to have a remote control with big buttons and all day battery life. Just like the Drift Ghost S had. Loved that thing! Still do, actually!
Rock Steady was the #1 feature that got me to pay attention to the Osmo Action. 4K60 was a close 2nd. I am looking to upgrade my current underwater camera to an Osmo for both. My #1 feature of Osmo Action is front screen. Mostly using it for vlogging. And front screen is a huge time-saver.
I have the osmo action. I use it as a all purpose camera as well. I think portablility packed with great video quality makes this camera a great choice and thats what I look for in an action camera because I cant really afford to have a camera for every scenario. Love your content and its awesome that you are offering something like this to your subscribers.
For me the most top feature of an action cam is the versatility in capture the moments I want to share. Is capable enough doing all activity i can do like outdoor, indoor, in or out of water. Is flexible to get the resolution/quality i like. Most importantly, I can share and edit in a fly. DJI Mimo app is very easy to use and can share and relieve the moment with your loved ones.
My favorite specs for the osmo are the full waterproofing, timelapse, and the option to shoot in log. Had this camera for a year and absolutely love it! Perfect for kayaking videos!
The ability to switch screen with voice commands is my favourite feature. Fantastic first effort my Dji
Definitely the rocksteady is one of the most important but also love the fact that it's so compact that you can bring that diving

Funny you should put out a 1 year after review of the Osmo Action. I bought my GP Hero 7 Black just days before DJI launched their Action. I don't see anyone commenting on ease of viewing their footage from the Action.
I shot several timelapse on my Hero7 last week. Unless i'm missing something, it's a pain to do anything with them as it appears you have to use GoPro's Quick app. Ughhhhh
Anyway,,, I think I'd really like the dual screen feature of this bad boy. It'd go great with my DJI Mavic Air & Mavic 2 Pro. 😊
If anyone has any comment on retrieving and using footage off of the Osmo Action, I'd greatly appreciate comments.

The thing I use the most is the 4k60p with rocksteady... very useful on my sport videos for my channel.
Agree on the QS button, my favorite feature ever!! Allows you to get the right shot every time.
I really like the front screen feature for check composition of the shot and the idea of giving this action cam to my kids for them to use and record content with too. Its a tough little cam thats easy enough that kids can use it.
Best feature for me in looking for action camera is the value for money without sacrificing other very useful functions and features.
It makes me appreciate what you do. If you test it for one year and test all the accessories that come out gradually during the year I know for sure that if I buy one now I am getting my moneys worth with the right accessories. Thank you for what you do as a service to us.

I LOVE the slow motion feature in my DJI and the simple menu and controls. The replaceable lens cover is also a plus.
I also own a DJI Osmo Action for about a year now and yes that Quick Switch button is probably the most useful feature ever on any camera, it's so convenient when you're on the go, to quickly switch between you're favourite pre-sets, great functionality feature. As a small downside, the hyper-lapse and timelapse modes would be nice if you could record them in 25 FPS for us PAL users. But overall, great job DJI with this all-purpose camera/action camera.
The dual screens is the feature I find the most useful. As your video points out, the front screen is very helpful. Great video.
...To be honest, I could not decide between the inage-stabilization and the de-warp feature, but with this camera, I did not have to...I love this thing so much!
I’d have to say the front screen is best feature. It’s come in handy so often and beats having to get another accessory add-on (like the new GoPro)
I love using action cameras for hyperlapses on the go. I can mount them anywhere, have wide fov, and they are small and discrete so ppl dont notice them.
For me, the most important thing is video quality, with stabilization and durability right behind that. Ive had my Osmo Action for 6 months and haven’t had much of a chance to really do a lot with it, yet. Looking forward to being able to do more with it this summer.
The fact it's waterproof and has a front screen is key - such a smart compact unit! Ace camera!

Just simple and the best. Had Gopro and switched to Osmo and is pretty much better in my opinion. For average consumers, this is the most reliable action camera. Front screen is a must!
#1 Feature for me is the rock steady feature. I own a gutter cleaning company and I like to shoot videos of areas of concern on the roof and the stabilization is great for getting a quality video. A close second is the fact that it is waterproof. Needless to say, cleaning gutters = getting wet lol

I love my Osmo Action. My first action cam was a Yi Lite but the Osmo its my 2nd action cam I bought recently its superior in all. The front LCD screen its a most have in all action cameras. The Rocksteady its really great. Hope DJI can improve in the next generation in the mic adapter maybe with a 3.5 jack and change to 1 inch camera sensor for better video for use it in low light situations. I use it for recording during travel and record backstage photoshoots.

I would mainly use it to make videos of my family and friends, playing, in the swimming pool, on vacation, etc.

Great update! I would say #1 for me is the rocksteady stabilization feature and secondly also owning a DJI drone I am able to color correct the two camera shots together.

What I look for in my action camera is its ease in transferring footage to my ipad for mobile video editing. Thanks for the great video. Once i'm released from my home i want to get back to shooting and practicing with my Osmo Action. i was late to the game in getting mine and once i had it, traveling was pretty much out of the question. Dependable, good battery life, waterproof, usable menu without a bunch of stuff to look thru, as you stated to be able to directly plug in external mic, camera that has great accessories available, etc, thanks for the tutorial 👍
I really like it for the all around usability. It allows me to do so much more than the few cameras I’ve had it the past.
personally it's the reliability and the rock steady feature, since i usually record to play airsoft and run around the field and the camera will shake when i run, so the rock steady is definitely a must for a smoother video
I like how easy they can be to transport. Slip in a small case, and take on the go! I enjoy the night photo mode on my action camera and all the different shooting modes! Thank you for the video!
Not to the mention the best quality photo and video, the Rocksteady feature of Osmo Action is by far my favorite. I enjoyed that when I'm using my osmo during travels.
I absolutely love my GoPro Hero 7 Black. My two favorite features are the Hypersmooth and being fully waterproof out of the box. I wish it had the dual screens like the Osmo Action
I really like osmo action as an action camera but I also love to use it as a normal camera it has so many quick shots. And the really good thing is that you can use it under water without a water case. Osmo action has slow mo and so many other things that I love.

Regarding action camera, there are a bunch of features I usually look in, such as 4k, build quality, battery life, ease of use.
But the main feature that I actually look in is the IMAGE STABILISATION, because a nice video footage may be ruined by not having this feature. The DJI Osmo Action is an excellent camera with its'Rock Steady' feature and I love the most.

So for this one, the biggest feature you highlighted that sold it for me was the full color front screen so you can see what your pointing at. I'm amazed no other camera has that, it's crazy. But also all the things it can do out of the box that GoPro can't..like fully waterproof, no fish eye perspective, better audio etc...

i would like that definitely for an all purpose camera. ive got two kids that play sports (whenever that starts back up) and go for a bunch of walks with the dogs so it would be an awesome addition! Love the channel and fellow san diegan!
The all in one feature is what I really like. It’s amazing how fast cameras have evolved.
I love the the dual screen function the most as similar products does not have or have to add on accessories.
Have loved using my Action for B Roll footage and easy to grab-and-go for family adventures (even letting my 4yr old granddaughter jump into the pool with it...FYI it does need the waterproof case if you're actually diving into water).
Love the live stream option now but hoping they can add Twitter to the available services in the future.
Stabilisation and waterproof is the most important for me.....but this slow motion "button" wow! Grate feature 👍

My favorite feature of the osmo action is the usability. Ease of use is important to me since I am doing other stuff while filming with it.
I had been using Gopro for my offroad adventures all this while. The Osmo camera definetly interests me now looking at your detailed product review and the flexibilty to use the third party accessories.
planing for a action cam , choosing between osmo action and Go pro 8 , but as for a vlog cam, i think the front screen really attract me a lot and the price of the accessories also one of the factor.
As a mountain biker, my major concerns are stabilization and battery life. I'm happy to know that DJI OSMO covers it all miles ahead of the competition. Thanks for the nice review of this action camera, it solidified my decision to get one.

The must have feature for me is the waterproof factor. Here in south Florida it rains off and on and if want to mount it on my car and go offroading with it or even for a bike ride around on of the fancier city's we have i dont want to worry about a little water damaging what I'm shooting with
#1 factor is that image stabilization rock steady . Im doing outdoor cooking videos and most of the times i want to capture 4k 60fps shots of the beautiful nature. You make me feel that dji osmo action is better then gopro hero 8 black and is alot more cheep in my country. So my next buy will be that cam for sure. I will be happy if i have this accessories for use in the future !

The best feature I'm looking for is the stabilization. Gimbals are great, but if you can get steady footage without one it's great. Basically eliminating one more thing from my gear bag.
