      That version of the universe was frozen in the M'kraan crystal after Legion Quest and the Apocalypse Age remember. Then Fatal Attractions lead into the onslaught saga then the whole thing fracture and scattered into a huge pile of Woke PC garbage. There are a few amazing stories in there but I question Marvel's modern existence. They are litterally being propped up by Disney and Disney has never understood what made comics as popular as they were in the 90s.

To find out as an adult that the X-Men were patterned after the civil rights struggles of African Americans (looked down upon/shunned/but posses extraordinary resiliency) Professor X is modeled after M.L.K. & Magneto is modeled after Malcolm X makes all of the sense in the world.

      @morhboct3 - The Avengers were NEVER C-list! They and the Fantastic Four were Marvel's premier superhero teams! The X-Men overtook the Avengers in sales in the '80s and in profile in the '90s! That's all.
      From 1990 - 1996, the Avengers were in a creative lull due to a lack of top talent on the books! Priority was given to the X-Men because their sales were phenomenal!
      However, starting with Heroes Reborn in 1996, the tide began to change for Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and by 2004, Brian Michael Bendis finally righted the ship!

      I think as the X-Men have really developed it’s a very flimsy metaphor especially when Magneto’s Holocaust origin was added by Chris Claremont and like so many Super hero myths and the men that created them there’s something more profoundly Jewish about that allegory also seen in Characters like Kitty Pryde and the fact that German characters like Nightcrawler were always separated massively from Nazism by being seen as friendly with Romani and Jewish people, I rather think the civil rights thing should be considered apocryphal because Magnetos early portrayals were straight up fascistic as well as Professor X having shown himself to be quite the manipulator also

    Days of Future Past was an excellent Xmen Story. I think Days of Future Past might be my favorite Xmen film. The 90’s run of The Xmen was also a huge part of my childhood and how can you not love the 90’s Xmen cartoon series. I also have to agree that The Xmen have one of the richest lore and history in all of comics.

    Nice video. I always figured that Stan WAS sort of running out of ideas for power origins, and the mutant concept was a nice solution. I also imagined that because he and Jack were SO busy with their other tiles that the X-Men were written almost as an afterthought. Like, it seems like the first 15 issues were a mix of introducing some cool villains (Magneto, Juggernaut, and the Sentinels) and then something like "Cebrebro found a mutant-- go find him and see if he'll join us!" which, he didn't. (Though Blob, who was part of that trope, is cool, too). But then you get into things like Factor Three and the story arcs were just not very compelling. I can see why sales lagged. It goes without saying that the reboot with Giant Size #1 was amazing.
    Slightly off-topic, but as I have said on other RUclips videos about the X-Men, I loathe the whole "omega-level" trope that is now handed out like candy on Halloween by any writer who wants make their favorite character super cool. It was introduced as a throw-away concept in the late 80s, and not really brought up again. But by the early 2000s, virtually any new character was "Omega" and on some videos (usually titled something like "The 20 most power Omega-level mutants ever!) you hear a description that often includes things like "can destroy a planet with a thought" or "can destroy an entire solar system with a thought" and it is all stupid.
    I get it-- like this guy, the people making these videos were kids when all of this was just accepted and so of course it's talked about. But if you're about 15 years olderand grew up reading Bronze age and early Iron Age stuff (and buying back issues of Silver Age comics with your lawn mowing money), this concept is rather foreign. I quit collecting ca. 1992 and every time I take a minute to see what went on after that, I don't regret my choice.

      Me too if they do they should start with the original X-Men and they should really focus on Angel as much as Wolverine I mean the dudes rich for one and his family was behind the whole cure for mutants thing and the dude lost his wings because they were damaged so bad in the fight they were forced to amputated then got his skin turned blue and was given metal wings by Apocalypse and was one of his horsemen for awhile until he eventually turned good and they were was a whole arc about him called the Dark Angel Saga.

      @I i agree. Xmen is dark chocolate, while mcu is cotton candy. The destruction began with jennifer lawrence and that xwoman crap. How come the insecure feminists dont question the bible to put us out of our misery.

    • @donice4835
      @donice4835 4 года назад

      @I i didnt mean "jlaw" ruined anything. I meant the scene she was placed in. Well she did inadvertently ruined it cause of the success she had. Mystique is a lower tier villain compared to magneto and apocslypse. She is not an antihero as the movie portrayed her. Thats why rebecca romjin didnt have any lines. That scene was meant to be taken seriously. And some women actually aplauded it. Its not a throwback to 90s girl power. Its current female insecurities that mcu and xmen are trying to take advantage of (make money), with captain marvel and mystique. I think they came to their senses cause mystique is dead and there are no capt marvel (fingers crossed) movies planned

    • @donice4835
      @donice4835 4 года назад

      @I another case in point. Look at black widow and wonder woman. Both characters kicked men's butts (wonder woman shoved batman like he was a doll) without belittling, or insulting men. (Black widow insulted villains who happened to be men, but not the gender as a whole)

    • @donice4835

      @I mcu made spidernan looked like a weak snivelling kid that needs to be "baby sat" by a bunch of women. So glad he is leaving the mcu. Spiderman deserves better. Also glad black widow wasnt in that scene. Sorry for the rant. Men do that too you know.

      Not true. There was no civil rights stuff until Claremont in the 70s/80s. Stan Lee just made an unsuccessful team that just so happened to be picked up later and made great. They were just a team made out of a demand for more super hero comics.
