    Maker Studios (which is owned by Disney but wasn't when ERB started) produced Epic Rap Battles of History for its first five "seasons", but then they split off and became independent from season six onwards around 2018/2019ish.

    The Mr. Hooper thing was a pretty big deal at the time. They could have handled it in a lot of ways, but they chose to have the character of a children's show actually die so they could explain what death was and how to address it to kids.

    This is one of my favorite ERBs. Henson and Lee came out swinging in their own unique styles. But then the two legends reconciled acknowledging the epic status of the other. But then corporate America came in saying "Get back to work, bitches." Even though I'm not a big fan of corporate conglomerates mucking with things, Walt's entrance was wicked.

    'out to pasture' is another phrase for retirement. It's a term originally used for old race or work horses(sometimes cows and other work livestock) that can no longer do their jobs and so they're let go on a remote section of land to live out the rest of their years

    Jack Kirby, Stan Lee and other individuals were collaborators on many creations. Stan Lee wrote the backstories on many characters and Jack would interpret some of them them through his artistic skill. Stan had a lot of control during the overall creative process, which manifested itself in Stan getting the spotlight more than Kirby. Even though Stan put his John Hancock on the books, it wasn't until later on down the road that Kirby received the recognition he richly deserved.

    You should watch the clips about mr hooper, it makes the line hit so much harder. Long and short was they took mr hoopers death as a opportunity to teach kids about death and had big bird struggle with that. Both with understanding it and coming to grips with it. I do wish they had touched on the fact that, while Walt himself was shrewed businessman, the company as people know it today is nothing like it was under him. he was a visionary and optimist and pushed for technological innovation. He died in 1966, most of the "evil disney" stuff was done after his death. His brother and his nephew, both named Roy, tried to keep his vision alive. but after Roy Sr died that was when things started really getting out of control. Then when Roy Jr died, all bets were off.

    • @TheRyujinLP
      @TheRyujinLP 2 года назад +3

      While this is a pretty broad subject and who deserves more credit really depends on just which character we're talking about, for the most part Stan Lee is the one who came up with name, backstory, and powers of the characters and Jack (along with Steve Ditko) would then draw them out. Now of course there was going to be a bit of back and forth as the fleshed the designs so there's a bit of everyone's ideas in each character I do think it's safe to say that for the most part these characters wouldn't exist without Stan Lee being behind the main creative wheel.

    02:48 The comics code was a lot of moral scare against comics. Included such gems as "Authorities can't be portrayed in a bad light" and had major stuff agianst drugs and so on. And many stores wouldn't sellcomics without their seal, so the industry basicalyl ended up self-censoring itself.*
    Then the US GOVERNMENT, Department of Health, Education and Welfare asked Lee to do a comic on drug abuse. He did. The CCA said: "No. This is against our rules. We won't certify the comic." Marvel put the comic out anyway, figuring: "Hey, the story was asked for by the HHS. We got the government behind us." The comic sold great. The CCA was embarassed.

    Me personally I say that this Characterization of Walt Disney wins. If you really break it down it just seems like the entire verse is just a diss to everyone. He didn't just own those two he owned the whole world. Disney bought out the Jim Henson company after Jim Henson died. Then Disney bought out Marvel while Stan was alive. He basically said their battle was just a simple debate and that it was a waste of time. There's just so much within this battle.
    Also the studio ERB used to work at during that time was owned by Disney so yes they did own ERB.

    • @undertakernumberone1
