Yes, at the time, ERB was owned by Maker Studios, which is owned by Disney. ERB then went independent.
I was about to say that but better to look for the comment that already said it :)
The fact that it was true when this was released only added to the creepiness of the whole thing. Because when we heard and understood that line we were all like "holy crap Disney does own everything!"

Just in case you never looked it up, ERB used to be owned by a company called Maker studios which was owned by Disney as it's parent company. So technically yes, they were owned by Disney
ERB split off from them years ago, so they are independent now

There was actually an unspoken bar in this ERB that I caught, and it’s a tricky one to catch. The first four bars rhyme with “monopoly,” but calling Disney a monopoly gets people sued. They’ve been toeing the line since Walt was alive on what a monopoly is, and became what I like to call a “diversified monopoly.” Instead of owning all things in one category, which is illegal under anti-trust laws, they own one thing in all categories. From the Mac and Cheese you think of first to the most popular brands of cigarettes (Kraft and Phillip Morris), to Maker Studios (which owned ERB and many music videos), Marvel, a few theme parks, more movies than we can count, they bought Pixar, Sesame Street, I’m wondering if they own a car company (googling now), not yet, but they even own Hulu.
Oh, also ABC (and all of its subsidiaries), ESPN, and more TV channels.
So, every movement that Disney makes in this is a caricature of a cartoon character. Grossly overdone, expressively animated motions. It definitely adds a creepy vibe to him.
A very nice video breakdown as always! I REALLY need you to watch Babe Ruth vs Lance Armstrong. Trust me when I say you'll love that one. Also, on the line of Disney owning the whole series, if I remember its was because of the software they used or something like that was owned by Disney.

Loved this reaction, you smiled so much (esp first half) and that's exactly my reaction to this one but let's be honest, Disney smokes them both no contest. I love the little touches like Kermit walking off and he's then not in it any more. Am sure theres more background things to watch out for. What makes it not double-teaming with Kermit it the full-out visible puppet controls in Henson’s hands and voice. Singing your name to Kirby’s work-now *that’s* unfair double-teaming.

People Reacting usably miss the steamboat referents "hope on my steamboat". Steamboat Willie was the first released Disney cartoon featuring Mickey Mouse.

The comics code is also a reference to the punisher comics... the comic association wouldnt put their stamp on the punisher comics because he killed people, and marvel and stan published them anyways without the comic association approval.

Jack Kirby was the illustrater not writer so Stan Lee would write the outline for the story then Jack Kirby would draw the panels and then Stan Lee would fill in the dialog

Both of these people are dead. Stan Lee lived for a while whereas Jim Henson died at a relatively young age
I hate to be that guy, but Jack Kirby was the artist who would draw a character based off of Stan Lee's basic description. The line hits hard for me because Stan Lee took most of the credit making Kirby resent him and Kirby's wife tried to sue him. Kirby fought, but he moved DC where he created the new gods

@@gabrielhunsucker3927 He does say the general gist and is my bad,I thought he said less about it then he did, but He doesn't really talk about how Stan Lee had a bad habit of taking alot of credit for characters as he knew how market himself leaving artist s like Kirby or Ditko(sorry if I misspelled it) behind. It is an unfortunate part of the industry where the writers are more well known and I am sure he was a great guy, I never met so I cannot say, but he was more of a businessman back then.
