The Line "You were like watching a beautiful sunset at noon" was actually a complement. It just means that the magnificence that Jim Henson brought to the world ended far to early, in the same way a sunset at noon would be too early to end the day.

Around that time when this battle was made, ERB was owned by Maker Studios who belonged to *drumroll* Disney. So Walt saying that was a Meta Joke par excellene!!
Luckily, ERB are independent now and can do whatever they want!

When Stan Lee made the comment about how he broke the comic code, a school teacher once wrote him a letter asking him to do a story about the danger of drugs (back then mentioning drugs in a comic was illegal) and Stan Lee made a story where Harry Osborn (aka the green goblin) overdoses on drugs

The sunset line was about how Jim died too soon. How he was a beautiful person that left us early

In my opinion, Henson took it the MINUTE he dropped that line about Lee signing his name to all of Jack Kirby’s comic books.
