I like that Michael Bay’s bars are flashy but on the simpler side… he rhymes money with itself multiple times. So basically it mimics his directing style.
It's not the best verse but it's the one we all end up quoting.

As a boy, I remember the Amblin logo, and I already knew the greats from Hitchcock.
A.I. was a movie that Kubrick started, but died before he could finish it. Spielberg came in to finish it, and it's largely regarded as a big expensive failure. Bay was the person who made the most recent Ninja Turtles movies, where it's more like a horror movie.
AI after being taken over by Spielberg was completely changed. Over half the movie was already filmed and Spielberg threw everything Kubrick filmed out to revision it as a happy ending story.
Kubrick was also signed on to direct the Ninja Turtle movie but never got to start them. There was a lot of people against Kubrick doing the TMNT cause he wanted to change it to them being space aliens instead of mutant turtles.
An extra note for Dave, Amblin is production company started by Spielberg. It was Amblin that made ET.
@@shotjukebox Actually, The Smoltzy happy ending part with the blue fairy was Kubrick‘s idea. He apparently envied Spielberg for his ability to make audience pleasing happy ending filled films.
Meanwhile Spielberg envied Kubrick for his cinematic shots and storytelling techniques.
It’s one of the reasons why I think it was a big misstep by ERB to have Kubrick go after A.I.
@@shotjukebox Michael Bay wanted to make the Turtles Aliens not Kubrick, Kubrick had nothing to do with the Michael Bay Ninja Turtles, unless you were talking about the OG movies then I don't know.
@@Nazo-kage Indeed, from what I've heard, Spielberg could more or less tell immediately that the movie would flop, but refused to make many changes because Kubrick had just died, and he wanted the movie to be dedicated to him. I mean, if you think about it, why would it have flopped if Spielberg changed the ending? His best movies have happy endings, so you can almost guarantee that AI would have been great if Spielberg did one of his happy endings. At the same time, if Spielberg had gotten his way, he wanted to try to have a more cinematic, somber ending like what Kubrick would do, and it probably would've also been terrible.
Basically, at the point that Spielberg and Kubrick had gotten to before his untimely demise, AI was already fated to be terrible. Neither could agree on a decent ending, so it was all over the place.

btw, forgot to mention… Hitchcock Presents was a TV series Hitchcock presented, and they used his side profile with the stomach for it. so that's what "there's no defence against Hitchcock once he Presents" was about…
the "crop duster scene" was a scene in one of his movies. I don't remember specifically which one… possibly North by Northwest?
"I squeeze dreams out of chocolate syrup" was a reference to the Psycho shower scene, because he used chocolate syrup for the blood, since it looked the most like blood on the black and white film.
North by northwest was the famous cropduster scene.
also, yeah, they used syrup for the shower scene. infact, the reason the film was in black and white despite most going with color by then, was because he was told the shower scene would be too graphic. so he decided to shoot the entire film in black and white so he could get the scene past censors without editing it.

Kubrick is known for the Kubrick stare, similar to the one you saw in the video. He made the actress retake the shot with the bat 127 times and stressed her out so much that she hasn't acted since. He made sure that she felt isolated and treated her awfully to get a genuine response in the movie because he wanted the most authentic reaction to slowly going insane like in the movie because, so he made her go insane on set. She had gotten to stressed that she had multiple panic attacks a day and her hair started falling out. Before she worked on the Shining, I think she loved acting and Kubrick completely ruined because of the way she was treated by him and how the rest of the staff didn't say or do anything because they knew Kubrick would fire them or something like that.

tbh, I was surprised you didn’t know of John Williams, he’s a legend he does all the iconic music like the Jaws music, and Jurassic Park, and I think a lot of Spielberg films tbh. I agreed that “half your billions should go to John Williams” just because that music is a big part of what makes these films iconic, even though Spielbergs actual films are also iconic.
also, I recognized Tarantino right away, because I saw both Kill Bill films and loved them, and that yellow background was a pretty big shout-out to the brides outfit in the first one when she fought the crazy 88. as for his line about Spielberg being a failure due to War of the Worlds, I saw it and it was indeed horrible. there was the big wtf moment when the aliens arrive and they looked terrible. idk unrealistic, bad design, either way it completely put me off the rest of the movie. so yeah, at least wrt to that movie, he was a failure. but no ones brilliant all the time...
I don’t think i’ve ever seen a single michael bay film, but i pretty much agree with everyone that he’s awful. the first i ever heard of him was that song in Team America World Police that went “Pearl Harbor sucked, and I miss you”. loved that song, and it totally ragged on Bay for making a terrible film that missed the point. ever since then, i’ve got a similar impression of his other films, so i refuse to watch any of his films. so, I don’t know if his attitude in this rap battle is true to life, but i wouldn’t be surprised.

9:03 Samuel L Jackson played some John Raymond Arnold, the chief engineer in Jurassic Park.. it was a short lived character and nobody really remembers him.. (i had to google it)
Could also be argued that one of Jackson’s most famous roles was from a Tarantino movie aswell

Alfred Hitchcock had a tv series in the 40's called "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" It was a horror / suspense show that was pretty innovative for it's time.

AI was a movie that Kubrick gave to Spielberg because he thought he’d be better at directing it, but it turned out to be a huge failure. Furthermore the TMNT was a film that Michael bay directed and was met with massive backlash. Also Bruckheimer and Bay worked together a lot, which is what bay meant when he said “no bruckheimer, I work solo”

Hitchcock's "Cropduster Scene" from North by Northwest was groundbreaking in the way it was shot. Fawned over by critics and film school teachers for years.
"Alfred Hitchcock Presents" was a syndicated prime time tv show with curated short films hosted by Alfred Hitchcock
Quentin Tarantino made Samuel Jackson a household name with Pulp Fiction. Jackson was already an actor, and played supporting roles in many movies, but pretty much known as "Oh yeah, that guy!" until he started working with Tarantino.
Kubrick was originally put in charge of writing the screenplay and directing "AI", and was experiencing a lot of health issues. He asked Spielberg for help making it, but unfortunately, Spielberg didn't until Kubrick died. Spielberg didn't understand a lot of the notes involved with the movie, so he just rewrote half of it. The movie had mixed reviews because it seemed disjointed.
Fun facts about Kubrik;
- Not only did he make Shelly Duval (Wendy in The Shining) do a take 127 times, he also actively tortured her on set, making her genuinely afraid in a lot of scenes. He also encouraged Jack Nicholson to do it too. It got so bad that she quit acting for good once the movie was finished.
- He guessed at the interior of a B-17 bomber for Dr Strangelove. It was so accurate the FBI asked him how he got it almost exactly correct. The reason he guessed was because the plane was classified and nobody except military personnel were allowed to see it.
- His movies are famous for having a character stare a certain way. In the rap battle, Kubrik doesn't blink.
You may have done a bunch of studying and searching but this is one of the most entertaining reactions I've seen. You're loads of fun. Btw, curious to know. Have you heard music from Eminem's Musuc to Be Murdered by original disk and side-B? If not, do I have done suggestions for you.
Amblin is Spielberg's movie production company. The group has back films like Jaws and ET of course, but then other successful movies such as the Back to the Future trilogy. War of the Worlds is a pretty awful remake. Kubrick was well known for making actors do so many takes that some of them started to lose their marbles trying to work with him. Kubrick actually holds a world record for making two actors do 147 retakes of the same scene with dialogue in the Shining making it 148 versions of the same scene. Jerry Bruckheimer worked quite a bit with Spielberg as a producer.

Some notes [EDIT: most of which I see now have already been noted, but oh well]: Alfred Hitchcock had a show called "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" / Samuel L. Jackson was in Speilburg's Jurassic Park and Tarentino's Pulp Fiction (among others Tarentino films) / "A.I.: Artificial Intelligence" is a movie Stanley Kubrick started, died during production, and Speilburg finished (which didn't get great reviews). / Michael Bay's production company Platinum Dunes produced the modern Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movies (first came out in 2014).
there's another Kubrick reference that was missed (tho this one is understandable since its a bit of a deep dive). when he first appears in the video, he's on the moon. this was a reference to the old conspiracy theories that the moon landing was faked. the story was that they brought in kubrick to direct it. but the response was always the joke that if they had, he's such a perfectionist, he would have demanded they shoot it on location. lol
also, thank you for noting that michael bay just produced the turtles film, instead of directing it.

The kubric reference to clockwork was to clockwork orange . of 1971 a verry verry violent movie . But also a masterpiece of its time . turned in to a cult movie.

14:39 II first saw this ERB like six hundred years ago when it first dropped and TO THIS DAY sometimes I just mumble Bay's bars in the morning while I make coffee. His verses have given me laughs just like that reaction for years. It's weird. Seeing someone else find that moment as entertaining as I do is nice. The internet is weird.
He made her do that scene so many times just to get an act of pure rage captured in her performance. When the axe came through the door he also never informed her so that he would see her genuinely frightened for that scene

That early stanza of Spielberg's where random words are capitalised is actually referencing both Spielberg and Hitchcock films: Duel, Psycho, Jaws, Lifeboat, Always, Vertigo, the Terminal and Murder! are all movies one of them made.

If I could, I would suggest checking out EpicLloyd's Disraps for Hire. I would suggest Disraps for hire season 1 episode 4 to see if you like them, then if you do I would suggest them all. They're really good.
It is a series where people would comment to Lloyd about a bully or something like that and he would pick a comment to make a disrap for them. If you do react also I would suggest reading the comment when it pops up so you get an idea what the disrap is about.

Nah, no film education class - you just gotta watch the movies. The flashes of Kubrick riding the three wheeler down the hallway, and double Kubrick standing up at the end of the hall are from the iconic scene in The Shining.
Also Shelley Duvall (actress who did that scene 127 times) nearly had a real nervous breakdown by the time the movie was done. She did Popeye with Robin Williams as her next film, and she said Robin helped her get through the filming. She retired from acting not long after that, so Shining had a HUGE effect on her life.
