- On September 13th 2023, the pilot bus (4965) debuted service out of Michael J. Quill Bus Depot on the M55 for the 2023-2024 New Flyer XE40 NG order, which wasn't expected to proceed further until the years end at the time, or even into the next year, 2024. At this time, 2 units (the other being 4966) were delivered for training since August. 4966 hadn't gone into service yet due to the teething issues 4965 had experienced after its initial first weeks of service. During 4965's first initial introduction period, it had been restricted to operating on the M55 only, presumably to test its distance capabilities while also reaching a good demographic through the heart of Manhattan. As of this upload, both 4965 and 4966 finally run normal service through any route based out of MJQ depot, occasionally making trips out of the depot for various reasons. No further units have been delivered, let alone placed into service after these 2, as of 4/26/24. #mtabus

I looked everywhere in Manhattan for that bus 4965, but I easily missed it a couple of times. Yesterday I waited for that bus to come, but the m55 bus turned into a not in service bus, which was not fair. 6 Ave and W 23 street was the last stop on that bus. The bus driver wouldn’t let me on as the other passengers got off. I don’t know why. I never been on this bus 4965 before.
Sometimes buses do like to short-turn depending on what the operators been dispatched. These XE's like to switch routes a lot of the time when they operate, but keep at it, you'll catch one of them eventually.
I can't wait to see the 5000's
Yeah I wonder when they will come out
@@jonathanmenig24185008, 5011, 5012 are already on MTA property so we should see them really soon
Do you happen to have any idea when more of these are coming to NYC?
Well from the looks of it they’re actually starting to go through now, we already have about 2 or 3 in the city that aren’t 4965 or 4966, but only time will tell when they’re gonna actually enter service, because none of them are at an actual depot yet.
@@Emperor_NYC Why's it taking so long? I want to see more of these already
How much longer is it going to take for more of these to arrive?
They’re actually arriving at Grand Avenue Depot as we speak; they already have 3, all being used for training right now.
my agency has these but in the XE35 model. they are alright but a few of them make this weird mooing/lawnmower sound every 10-15 minutes that lasts 3-5 seconds. im not sure whats causing that but it sounds weird
That’s probably the motors. Every XE does that, even XDE’s that have a BAE hybrid system do it. Not entirely sure why.
How long are they taking to hit the streets
Not very long anymore at this point.
Are the same buses in the $116 million grant to ? (For 230 battery electric buses)
No, this is a different order from that, that order is gonna be considered a different fleet.
@@Emperor_NYC What's taking them so long to be delivered?
Probably. They might be the same bus but different Fleet number. Probably somewhere in the 6200's Because the MTA wants New Flyer to deliver buses over the next 5 years in my prediction.
