    Frankly, I have watched this video and the last one about the Turbo V6 Engine, and I feel nothing, but supreme trepidation. Your public safety warning is commendable and most effective, for my teeth are gnashing against their opposites, like those engine cylinders knocking against one another; my mouth leaking saliva like those Turbo V6 engines are leaking oil. The only difference is, my jaws are yet to shutter into glass, but Toyota's Turbo V6 engines, have! And yes, there's "Toyota" written all over them!
    Toyota has had recalls, but I don't "recall them ever recalling" a Highway Coffin, which is, sadly, what the Tundra is fast becoming in the mind. How on Earth is Alabama allowed to put any engine together, let alone a Turbo V6 engine? Some of them hybridized at that? What were the Japanese thinking - that attention to detail emanates from the Might Steely Halls of Kentucky Fried Chicken? Is Toyota implying that the LX600, which can bankrupt exactly fifty-seven Middle Class American Families (on KFC), is also tootling around with an Alabama-made, Kettle-Whistling engine that is just about, any time, to blow out atop the fire, quench the flame, and never-mind that while at the mess, a long 18-Wheeler ram into both cheeks of the same ass? What on Earth?

    "stop driving" WRONG ANSWER LOL. The safest thing to do is fill up on the lowest octane allowed and torque the heck out of it until you throw a rod. That's the only way you'll get a full engine replacement. If you get an engine rebuilt by the dealer, you're gonna have even more safety problems down the road...

  • @ahmadtarik5977
    @ahmadtarik5977 Месяц назад +8

    It is not a debris! How is it possible that this issue affects all vehicles made in the US and Japan, such as the Tundra, Lexus, and Land Cruiser 300s? Assuming the machining is done by one supplier globally, how did it pass inspection in two factories in Japan and the USA for three years? I believe it is a design issue. The most important concern is the repair cost of $32,000!
    If someone encounters this issue after the warranty expires, how can they afford $32,000? After 6-7 years, low-trim trucks may not even be worth $32,000, which means these trucks could end up in the junkyard if their engines fail.

    I keep thinking the engine replacements would need to include the turbos as well. If there was enough debris floating around in the engine it could have made it to the turbos as well from the oil feed. Unless there was sufficient screening/filtering pre-turbo.

  • @jamesabrawilder9748
    @jamesabrawilder9748 Месяц назад +5

    This IS A DESIGN FLAW but they will never admit to it. All manufacturers do this...this will enable them to replace the blocks and bearings on the engines that fail, while they quietly redesign on the next Gen Tundras. No manufacturer would issue a recall that would require a 20k crate motor because they know it would fail again. 100k Tundras affected with a badly designed engine. They'll roll with the debris excuse and "fix" them until the warranty runs out.

    Have a 23 sequoia platinum ($82,000)built March 23 and purchased early April. I Just had the oil changed today at the dealer. I have always changed it around 5000 …currently at 18,000. While waiting I had the service advisor look up the VIN and he said it’s not affected because of the build date.
    I don’t believe the debris issue. I believe a debris issue would have shown earlier signs in all the engines. I’m not sure where they are manufactured? But I bet they have multiple engine facilities. Are they all failing from one particular facility? I have read they are even failing in the Japan market…
    I believe It’s a poor bearing or a lubrication system design and I believe they are failing at different rates based on environment, service intervals ( 10,000 is far to long for a turbo) and driving habits… I hope I’m wrong but all these engines will fail with the same issue.
    They are catering to the tundra and Lexus owners first because most are not hybrid…
    Buy back option is hopefully coming. I can’t trust our dealer to change oil let alone swap an engine.
    Also It took almost a year to get a second key…
    Toyota was the leader in Six Sigma process but they sure have deviated away from the process and they are paying for it and they need to be more transparent.

      The dealer actually offered to buy it back for 71,000 and I’m going to mostly likely take the offer…Love the car but worried about longevity.

    I think we are likely to see delayed failure with the Hybrid max platform as the electric motor may help to alleviate some of the load the main bearings see from low end torque. That's not to say the engine isn't a ticking time bomb. I highly doubt that the issue is related to machining debris and moreso related to main journal bearing cap design.

It hasn't happened much recently, but we were doing around three a year on average since this generation LS came out.
    And some speculation. The new Toyota engine architecture seems to be more homogeneous. I'm wondering if they were using the same process on all engines in this family. Something that may not have been a problem for the manufacturer process on their 4cylinders may have caused issues for all V6s. So I'm curious where this "process" error leads to as it pertains to other models.

      @@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD A little update. One of the area Lexus dealers has just started their first warranty job for an LX 600 equipped with the 3.4l J35A engine. Catastrophic engine failure as far as I know. I don't have any more info than that, unfortunately, but my worst fears are coming true.

    You keep going back and forth saying yes the gx550 is and then it’s not affected. Then you put up a picture of 4 vehicles being recalled and included the gx550 in that picture. So is it affected or not? It is made late 2024 and later other than the pre production models of course so according to the recall dates it is not affected but your video leads me to believe it is. Which is it?

      Sorry you'll have to make that determination. 2 weeks ago Toyota DENIED there were any problems with the V35A-FTS despite multiple antidotes and reports of engine failures worldwide. A few days ago they did a 180 and said: "there's problems". People STILL report engine problems in '24 Tundras... Is Toyota being honest with this recall? Or are they breaking off the bad news in small, digestible chuncks? Toyota=our V6 is blowing up. Internet people=our V6 is blowing up. You=buy a GX550 with same V6? Your call. 😉

    They can take the crap V6 out of mine and put the reliable V8 in, instead. I am so glad my wife insisted we get the full term complete extended warranty. I only have 6700km after nearly a year, so time till tell.

      Your V8 was crap at one time too, it’s weird how everybody has amnesia about that. Toyota/Lexus are not infallible Things happen and mistakes happen. Any other car company would leave you hanging high and dry I bet.

    Stop guessing about the problem. ASAP, If you have this engine, drain the oil and send out a sample of it to an oil analysis lab
    Also remove the oil filter cut it open and look for metallic particles. Take the filter to a machine shop if you don't have the tools or expertise to open one without injury to yourself. Everyone post the oil & oil filter results here.
    Some of you might get lucky and find a contaminated filter before extensive harm is done. We will also know if an engine blew on clean oil. Don't forget to replace the oil & filter. Doing this we will have REAL data to compare with Toyota

    • @RYTHMICRIOT
      @RYTHMICRIOT Месяц назад

      Probably because Toyota isn't sure how they're going to puke out more than 100k engines (so far) as these trucks begin to stack up in the back lots of dealers awaiting service. I can imagine there are going to be people without their vehicle for half a year or more. Toyota is probably "mathing" right now to determine if they can feasibly replace all these engines or if a buyback is more palatable for them. Either way, this is a 5 alarm dumpster fire.
