  • This recall which came out in 2024 number 24TA07 for the Toyota Tundra and Lexus LX 2022-2023. Honestly with all the news recently coming out about the newest generation of the Toyota Tundra recall and Lexus LX600 it has really got me sad. I really want to see this truck do well, and this engine, but whether the issues come from Toyota America. Specifically in Alabama where the engines are made, or the 3.5 twin turbo engine has an engineering flaw. I believe thousands of these trucks are going to require new blocks, hopefully whole new crate engines but I do not know where this vehicle will go. However, I am going to stay on top of it if I hear anything new.

  • @grumman38
    @grumman38 Месяц назад +3

    I like my Tundra but voiced concerns about the complexity of this design. The majority of owners online were pretty confident in the Toyota engineers. I separate a design on paper from what really happens with trucks on farms and construction use. Also, look how complex the repairs will be for Toyota during this recall. The design is WAY too complex, the maintenance cost will be extremely high for owners that keep their trucks and try to get high miles from them. I usual expect 250K miles from my vehicles and always get it.
    My confidence in Toyotas and their ability to read and execute on what the market wants is diminished.
    These are TRUCKS, not formula one cars!

      @jeanclaude7018 Месяц назад +2

      My question is if it's really "shavings" then why isn't the OEM oil filter catching them before they go to the bearings? Or if there's a ton of it plugging the filter (doubtful) then why doesn't the computer shut down the entire engine for low oil pressure?

      @WyLEE08, what year is your truck and how many miles do you have on it? Hybrid or regular V6 TT? I recently bought a 2024 SR5 TRD OR, and have now changed the oil twice in first 1,500 miles, and will do again at 2,500 then again at 5,000 with oil samples each change. My guess is the 24 will have same issues, unless they made an engine plant change either in assembly process or part design change inside the block (which i doubt). I’m wondering if this truly is limited to a certain # of engines produced or all of them….

    Just retired from the auto service business and unfortunately there is very little chance the dealer mechanic will swap the short blocks correctly. There is no incentive to take the time to do it correctly. Plus the lowest paid mechanic is usually assigned to warranty work at dealerships. I would demand Toyota buy back your truck, otherwise you will take a tremendous hit on its' resale value.
    Pretty sure major engine work is recorded on the vehicle's carfax. I really don't buy the machining BS, they have a design problem with that engine. After all, they changed the way the main bearings are held in place.

      As far as which technician does what. That's not how that works. All technicians that are qualified to do warranty repair are mainline technicians. Other than master technicians we are all paid the same rate. The tougher jobs go to the most experienced technicians because if they do a certain repair/recall warranty and they specialize in that area than they will be efficient doing it and getting paid properly for it. Inexperienced technicians are still paid under the same rate but where they don't get paid well is failure to document their repair and time stamp properly for service record and booking. One technician may replace a differrential on a Tacoma and completes it in an hour, get paid for 2, a differrent technician may do the same job in the same time but improper story documentation he will be paid for .89TU

Wish Toyota would pull it's head out of the tailpipe and start building cars like the old ones. Is the .4% Toyota claims is bad on the road or did they include the trucks that didn't sell?
