Good setup. I’ve had this box for 4 months and I like it. I had 1 12” kicker comp r shallow mount and plugged the other hole and using Rockford 500 watt mono amp. Good sound great base. I glued 1/2” pieces of mdf together and felted them and used for spacers 1” thick. With rear seat raise u should be able to fold down your rear seats now it’s a win win. Thx for video man
I have the 10 inch version of that box and I put svr 10s in there. I had to use spacer rings to lift them off the bottom but it sounds unbelievable! I'm pushing 2000 rms into it and I couldn't be happier
Love the video! Had a few questions: - Did you get the 1500 Watt amp afterwards? - Do you have to install an aftermarket stereo? - Do you still like the quality at this point in time?
I don’t remember what amp I had at that time. You don’t “need” and aftermarket stereo but if your head unit doesn’t have pre-amp output you may need a converter. I did like the quality of the box. For a small air flow box, it sounded good.
Just an fyi If you got dual 4ohm subs instead & wired them down to 2ohm(positive to positive negative to negative) you'll be able to maximize your amp output to the 1ohm impedance instead of only using half the capability at 4ohm
@DieselLegiance 0.5 which is half ohm is not recommended but 1ohm is definitely the way to go because about all the class D mono amps they have are 1ohm stable
Also I had an installer do my set up but now I'm thinking something may not be right with the amp setting Skar did send me a email of what settings should be but I haven't been able to get to my amp yet btw it's a Skar RP 1200. Great amp so far
Would this box fit in a 2018 ram 3500 crew cab? I love the look of the box in you’re truck. My current dilemma is my amp is only 600rms at 2ohms and I want to get the speakers you have installed. Thank you

I’m not sure, I didn’t experience that as I have an aftermarket head unit. Your Amp should have controls to dial in the Low Pass and High Pass filters as well as adjusting your gain.
You might not need shallow mount but some speakers have very large magnets that may be too big for the box. Best I could say is measure the box interior dimensions and then measure the sub.
It’s just what Skar Audio recommended as I put the diagram up in the video they sent me. I guess it’s called Series/Parallel in order to take the dual 2ohm voice coils of both subs and keep everything at 2ohms at the end for Amp efficiency. Skar Audio recommended it to be wired this way.

Good thought, I may have to try that. I was just concerned because Skar Audio website says wiring to 1ohm is not recommended and voids the warranty.

The box should fit, may need spacers to lift the back seat slightly, but you may need a more powerful amp. The Skar Amps are very reasonably priced.

It was not a customer, it was my own personal truck and I was trying to see if there was another way to make the box fit without spacers.
I have a 18 Laramie Longhorn, w stock head unit, using the factory amp signal wire how did you get around the subs fading out in higher volumes ?

You can use anything. Larger washers stacked up. I actually used ATV Lugnuts.

I’m not sure but the shallow mound VD-12’s fit great. They around roughly 6” deep. If your speakers are much deeper, they may not fit.
