I have a single 10-in VD skar in my truck and a single cab it took a minute for the woofer to break in and get that burnt smell off of it but once it did man I'm telling you it hits harder than any 10-in sub I've ever had. I've never owned any like three or $400 10-in subwoofers but for an economy sub I wouldn't change it for anything man this thing killing it really is. I'm running it on a nvxjad 1200 at 2 ohms and a ported enclosure don't know the specs on the enclosure it was kind of just a something thrown together ported my thrown together people say that I could sell them all day long no problem LOL like I said but it shakes drink bottles in my cup holder half full of drink like it ain't shit and running a JL Audio 450/4 amplifier pushing the old school MB quart six and a half inch components conservatively 150 watts per to the front 75 per channel to the rear and it's got the mids and highs screaming coming from a super clean signal from a Alpine CDA 7949 old school copper chassis head unit yeah buddy. Crystal clean and loud!
Tip there actually is a spot to run wires through on the passengers side there’s a 6 in rubber gasket and there a lil round node on it kinda like the truck clit there for you probably won’t be able to find it💀
@@JoelG7.3 I got one behind the seat of my single cab F-150 ported and I'm here to tell you buddy it slams I got a kick ass 800 watt amp pushing it but it gets down. My man why are you using house power wire as speaker wire inside your boxes? In addition you have DVC speakers but you only use SVC on each one, I get it because other wise it would be at 1/2ohm parallel or 4ohm series if done correctly and the amp will just go into protection mode or not be pushed hard at all,but why not buy the same Skar speakers but 4ohn DVC, therefore you can run it parallel and be at 1 ohm to use the speakers to their full potential?
I got the exact same set up had to trim my box as well but my box isn't ported. I also changed out the door speaker with skar 6x9 and skar 6.5 . I love it
Im running the same subs and amp as you, so this brings me to my question, did they smell at first after installing? Im trying to see if im overpowering mine
Good ass video dude I like all the little details you showed 👍🏻👏🏻. About to hook up JBL Basspro in my 14 f140. Cool dog too ! My dog loves my truck but he’s about to dam heavy to lift up there always lol
What's the RMS rating I'd the subs?? That is more of what you want to match an amp to.. Also are they SVC or DVC, and what ohm rating are they?? This info could help someone point you in the right direction
@@JoelG7.3 that brand for 03-08 ported is sold out on the innerweb, the box you installed looks shallower than the one for my year and looks like it might just be shy of the belt braket
Yes it came with some paired up blue wire to go from the amp to the outside of the sub box but I used some regular like #14 wire I had laying around for the inside of the box.
I had to have the audio shop take a look and reset the settings I did. I also for some reason the way I wired it I had like 3ohms at the amp from the speakers. I had to cross the voice coils to lower the ohms again.
probably means wire them in series instead of parallel. Parallel would have a pos coming the the voice coil to the pos on amp each individual. Series has a pos going from amp to pos on sub1 then neg on sub1 to pos on sub2 then neg on sub2 to neg on amp.
sooo nobody's gonna tell him? or y'all don't know any better either i guess 🤦🏽 dude you need real gage speaker wire it gives you better quality of sound stop using that wire you use for trailer brake lights😂
I do not like that wiring prank you did there buddy 😂 I nearly cried. I paused the video and felt the tears coming.
Under the truck there's a little gromit to feed wire to right behind both wheel wells. It goes to the wire channel by the door sills
Dang, wish I would have knew that. Oh well guess I ran it the hard way lol

Yep he’s hilarious
Gonna have to upgrade to a DVC skar! I have their 2 ohm version wired series parallel and LOVE them!
Awesome may have to look into them.
I literally just ordered these exact subs with the exact box this morning lol can’t wait to hear it for myself

Yeah I can’t believe I had to trim the box 😂. We have kickers in the doors but they do not sound great. Skars are the way to go.
Hey I know you probably don't remember but what was the song yall guys played at 11:50 in the vid
Closer by Todd Helder. Still my intro song lmao
Thx
Do I need the amp with this setup since the subs themselves are supposed to be “loaded”? I’m confused on this and new thx
Not specifically this amp but just one that will push enough watts with the amount of resistance/ohms the speaker have.
Such a pro👌
Only the best 😎
Im running the same subs and amp as you, so this brings me to my question, did they smell at first after installing? Im trying to see if im overpowering mine
Ummm I can’t remember but the box had a smell to it.
How do you connect the amp to the speakers?

Thanks appreciate the feedback more than you know and glad you enjoyed the vidja. Oh yeah love them dogs haha
What is the name of the amps that are in your truck and Where did u get them from Mr. Joel??
It’s a Skar 1200w from their website.
If you want clean and powerful amp down for sound salt amps.. they will out perform a Skar amp.
If I put four 8inch subs with a peak of 1,200 watts what amp do
I need to run

Any issues with the subs hitting the floor? Been thinking about getting this box but don’t want to tear my new speakers up.
We didn’t have any issue with them hitting the floor.
Putting these in my vette rn watched the vid ab the oversize sides on the sub🤣
Yeah they aren’t fun 😂
So does that mean both subs get 1200 watts?
The amp puts out a certain amount of watts to power them. Depending on the ohms of resistance it can make it push less or more watts.
Do you think a soundbox sub box will work good with the skar 10 shallowmount
Honestly not sure.
This box fit in the 03-08 black 150 at the end of the video
What do you mean ?

Yes it came with some paired up blue wire to go from the amp to the outside of the sub box but I used some regular like #14 wire I had laying around for the inside of the box.
How many hz are the box rated for? Also what settings do you have on the amp because I have the same amp and same subs.

Q-Power box. Link under video.
What did this setup cost. Wanting to get it myself
They arent bad i spent about 500 doing this setup in my s10, i did have to use a box from someone else tho i did 2 separate boxes
Around how much did everything cost.
Roughly around $500-$550 for the complete setup.
What kinda tail lights are those?
SPR-5082169. XTUNE black with U-Bar LED Tail Lights.
Literally my exact setup lol

How do you still like it?
? Wondering the same
@Taylor297 still sounds good probably gonna something similar in a new truck
