The Benq EX2780Q is a high-end 27-inch 1440P 144Hz IPS gaming display that has a feature that not many other gaming monitors in this class can claim to have. Great built-in speakers. They genuinely don't suck, which is kind of crazy.

This monitor is currently on sale on Amazon for $450. That's a pretty great deal considering the specs: amzn.to/2YikRT0
Anyway, peace out home bear.
bruh, i just found a "GTX 1660" listed for $16.90...... seems legit.
Heres the link if you wanna see for yourself lmao: suepas.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=3051&language=en¤cy=USD
Baddy Kay oh naw I wasn’t gonna but it lol, I’m not dumb. It’s probably gonna be a 512mb gpu
Dawid Does Tech Stuff do you know if it has variable refresh rate?
I got for 399.99 no discount code from Amazon! I can’t wait 👍👍
@@UNBOXxp Thats a great price. I'm sure you will be very happy with it. I still enjoy mine a lot.
I am so glad that nvidia opened up their G Sync System. So many new options for team green users!
It really is way better. :D
*cries in gtx 980 ti* ;(
*cries in Intel HD*
@@Tmob same bro :(
Freesync with gtx 1070 and display port makes the display go on and off for 1-2 seconds every time I play a Game and I’m in a menu.. or Game to menu... it stops only when I’m inside a gameplay only section without menus.
Any fix for this?
Can I use display port and choose 144hz for this monitor? Cause some are saying they are using dp 1.4 cable and can only set the monitor to 120hz 10bit mode
How does the text rendering look on this monitor? I have an old 1080p 60hz monitor from 2009 and it's time for an upgrade.
I bought a very similar model from Benq a few years ago except for the 144hz...it only had 75hz. I've been very happy with it and I'm thinking about getting this monitor to upgrade.
i have thier xl2730z and I love it. had it for years. still working like the first day. amazing colors for a tn. the only reason I got a tn was because it was as good as an IPS in colors but the viewing angles still suck. but I don't mind
Are VA panels generally as good for gaming? They are cheaper which is better for me, but colour aside is it similar in performance?
"According to my brother! Some people Do use speakers in monitor" ..as he would never have thought about that.
Nice review Dawid! Keep it up! I need me a IPS display soon.
It makes a big difference for video editing. :D
@@DawidDoesTechStuff that's the primary reason I want to get one. Been editing 4k footage on a 1440p va panel all this year. :0
Would a build with an rtx 3060, intel i7 10700f, and b450M motherboard (no specific brand) work with this monitor?
Awesome video, thanks Dawid!
Any good wall Mount for this monitor please ?
The homepage says it charges the laptop with the usb C? can someone confirm if it works?
Is there any backlight bleed or ips glow issue in this one?
I like the attitude and commentary. Good work.
Just picked one up on sale for 399 on Amazon! Can't wait. Great review!
MotoMasterX5 same here brother. I priced matched Amazon at Bestbuy just in time. It’s back at 550. Can’t wait! 👊👊
is the hdmi cable high speed for 144hz gaming
what is the response time 5ms? 1ms? 10ms?
Great review!
Just found it for $399 in cyber Monday. Used it last night and I was blown away. Huge upgrade from my older 27 inch 1080p 60hz Samsung
lol because its 144hz.
Awesome monitor! Got myself the lg32uk550 for 290 bucks on black friday that was a steal.
That is an awesome deal! 👍
@@DawidDoesTechStuff i really hope you enjoy your monitor. Benq is a great brand!
No display port cable??
I just got one for 200 from my local auction/bidding website here 👍🏽 excited for it!
The low blue light feature is actually the reason why i decided to buy this monitor instead of an other qhd ips monitor
I don't know English language very much .. But you use easy word and clear voice .. Thanks for this review بصراحة مراجعة مفيدة وسهلة ومختصرة
how does this compare to BenQ Mobiuz EX2710Q?
Yea BenQ is a great brand, had one myself for 5 yrs and still killing it !
I am glad to hear you are still happy with your monitor. :D
Great review! Thanks man!
Thank you. :D

Hey Mr David, would you recommend this particular panel for PS5? Also could you work on a content that covers 2k and 4K monitors for next gen consoles, keep up the great work sir!
I'd say no because the ps5 doesn't support native 1440p as of right now
Yes because it accepts a 4k 60 signal and downsamples to 1440p
I know this response is too late but a 1440p monitor for Ps5 is useless.
@@jonasb6440 a 1440p with 4K downscale to 1440p isn’t useless that’s how I’m using the Asus TUF vg27aq monitor
what is the best monitor for IPS, 2K, 144Hz ??
i need your opinion before i choose it.
thank you before.
Benq
I saw negative reviews of the monitor. Some buyers had a damaged display from mail. Others had dead pixels, some even said the HDR implementation sucks.
Did this review model have any issues after the review?
Im thinking of getting a 1440p monitor with HDR, IPS, 144hz or 165hz and. Is This as good as the Pixio? what about the Asus Tuf monitor?
Wondering the exact same
Hey dude, what monitor you end up getting? I’m not sure what to get lol
I am using this thing right now and i love it. However, I have a stuck pixel on top of my screen so not perfect but purty gud.
In summary: really good monitor. Has a 4k 60Hz option. HDRi sucks but great standard contrast. Beautiful colours and comes with a remote that has like 5000 options in menu which is great. Good speakers. Terrible tilt. Really heavy.
great video thx for sharing , but what about ghosting ? dose it ghost ?
This monitor looks great, bummer that the stand isn't adjustable. Great review.
Is it suitable for the ps5 ?
A look back at these videos, you still have the same humor but blissfully delivers the punchline as smooth as a babys bum. Given that, now it's great to see you're more used to what you're doing. Awesome work year in and year out.
Nice review. Thanks
8:28 is this firewatch wallpaper i see? Yeah it is I have the same! This game is pretty good actually 😌
Its a great wallpaper. XD
But what about the game guys? If you have not played it you definitely should, it's pretty short but good :)
Picked up that game in the recent GOG sale, haven't played it yet, but soon
Same wallpaper
Whats the difference between the ew2780q and this one?
Ew2780q is 4K 60hz
Should I buy this or the Acer Predator xb271hu? 🤔 IDK!
R Hebner yeah I bought the benq and it’s deeeeeeeecent no issues what so ever ! ❤️
anyone noticed smearing \ smudges of fast moving dark objects?
another banger video love it !
Variable frame rates? I hope it has adaptive sync or I’m gonna be a sad boy
Freesync
I also want thin bezels so it matches with mi modern minimal gaming and editing setup, I'm not a fan of that huge bottom bezel.
I actually want the height adjustment to be able to get it lower, because I'm used to laptops
Got the monitor for $350 and it's been a dream !
Good day! Thank you for the review. Would you still suggest this monitor in 2024?
Viotek.... give them a look. they seem okay. fibbing on their response times a little bit, but they seem like a heck of a deal.
This is si expensive but it’s on sale now 389€ but what about acer nitro vg270 it’s for sale for 250$ too
Having half decent speakers in a monitor would be good. Granted I'm definitely a minority case, but, my X370 boards onboard audio doesn't play nice with linux, but the HDMI audio through the gpu does. For me, I'm happy to slap a PCIe sound card in and run my existing desktop speakers, but if you're after a more minimalist approach, then half decent monitor speakers would be an absolute blessing.
Im about to buy this monitor.. it will be my first 1440p monitor, here in the uk its costing 220£ right now (2 years after this video) is still worth it?
Same , I think it still looks great so I’m probably going to buy it
8:30 because you didnt turn it on...
In order to do so, you need to toggle the "Enable settings for the selected display model"
Oh I did turn that on too. I didn't realise it didnt show in the B-roll.
@@DawidDoesTechStuff Are you sure that gsync is working with no issues? After seeing this and other reviews I bought this monitor here in Italy, but if I enable G-SYNC every time I play a game and it goes in a loading or in a menu the monitor turns off and on. It stops only when the game is running without menus, if for example I press start and try to change something it goes on and off.
I had gsync working with another freesync monitor, the hp27q but I can't seem to get it working in this monitor.
Which GPU did you use? Display port cable?
@@PaoloCappadonia Hello Paolo,
That is interesting. I used a Display port cable with an RTX 2060. I tried Apex and Shadow of the Tomb Raider which worked. Im not sure about other games.
It didn't work over HDMI.
@@PaoloCappadonia It only works with DP.
On my Benq display I had to lower the refresh rate by 1 hz so it would stop skipping frames (turns on and off as you described)
just got 1 for my one x wow big upgrade
please dont shave again please
Haha!! Fair enough.
I disagree, bring the moustache back
0:19 was like a jumpscare
got mine on Black Friday for $399 cad. so far so good, i wish the screen picture was more customizable
Thats awesome! Thanks for the feedback on the customizablity.
@@DawidDoesTechStuff no problem, it's been only 2 days and I'm used to my oled TV so the picture quality is definitely not the same !
quick question tho, are you using DP connection between your computer and the monitor to get G-Sync working ? I'ms till waiting for my cable from Amazon. Bad point for BenQ for not providing it in the box :/
also great work on the editing of your video :)
@@SuperCheesyMan Yeah, nothing compares to OLED. :P
I could only get it working over DP. Let me know if it works for you.
Thank you.
@@DawidDoesTechStuff so I got my DP cable, guess what my freesync/gsync doesnt work for me. Not because of the monitor .. but because I have a friggin old GTX 780 card. Doh ! 😆
@@SuperCheesyMan how do i use gsync with this monitor? Will it be in nvidia control panel?
Can I get this in 32 inches? That's what I would LOVE.
I know this is rather late but it now on sale in the UK for £220. Yes it doesn’t have height adjustment (we have it on a wall mount anyway) but the USB input works really well with a Mac Mini (M1).
Just got it from Amazon , for just over 200 quid it’s brilliant, works well with the PS5 and my gaming PC
what colour is the bezel please. In all th pics (inc this video) it looks brownish rather than black
The top and side bezels are black but at the bottom of the screen there is a (speaker?) grill that is a dark metallic bronze colour. It probably does just look brown in pictures but looks much better “in the flesh”.
@@deepend9376 cheers. And can you confirm or debunk the allegation from another commenter that there is a 4k @60Hz option ?
(I suspect the latter)
Not on my unit
Nice monitor
If I had the money I'd buy one of these, but I think you just opened me up to looking at BenQ as decent monitors. Loving the slim bezels and great work showcasing the monitor, you did it good there!
I would be using the speakers on my monitors if they weren't ass. It's nice not having to use aheadset ALL the time, but having speakers on my desk takes away a lot of space.
i use ass speakers for my pc anywasy just for listening to youtube, otherwise i use headphones
For anyone wondering this monitor DOES work at 1440p 120hz on the xbox series x
Yes, there is a video about it. Even vrr is enabled
Thanks def purchase
I was always hesitant to buy a Benq monitor, but after watching this video, giving the pros and cons, I think I might just upgrade in the near future. Great video btw :)
Thats awesome! Thanks for the comment.
Why hesitant to buy a BenQ monitor? They're one of the top ones
@@Crimelord They are a somewhat recent company. I've been into tech since the days of DOS and I only recently have heard of them.
@@MisterTonyG Recent?? you can't be serious... with all due respect for your DOS days, it's not BenQ that's recent, you've just been kind of blind to it for all this time. BenQ is far from recent.

Haha!! I do mention you specifically. 😂 You would love this monitor.
I just got this for under 150 pounds man. My msi monitor was failulty and this is so much better than even that in its prime.

Great review. That guy was loving it...lol
I was aiming for the Dell 2721DGF but those speakers set this above it. Especially since they're around the same price point.
I'm intrigued by your accent cant quite figure it out I sense SA vibes mixed with Welsh and possibly Scandinavian maybe a touch of Irish and Scottish so intriguing
Irish person here. I hear no trace of any Irish accent (except South Dublin maybe?) but this man sounds like SA mixed with something else.
Yeah I hear a little irish, but it's strange. Almost American but not
£270 now……would you still recommend it?
I use it for my ps5 and my pc, i love it.
@@Biggie_Pauls hey I’m considering to buy this for my ps5. What are your honest opinion
@@samurai1597 you can probably get a better monitor for the price now bud, it's a decent monitor but when I use it on my pc I notice a lot of screen tearing without v sync on. For ps5 it's been really good, switching to 120hz automatically once you change the settings.
"Nipple" Control thing. Heh.
Love the video.
But having said that, RUclipsrs have to stop saying [COMPANY] sent me this product, but [COMPANY] did not sponsor this video.. so this is my unbiased review of [SAID PRODUCT].
The fact that this was sent to you means it's sponsored in some way, and usually, when someone gives you free stuff - you don't say sh%t about them. Who would? And risk not getting more free stuff later? Really? C'mon, really?
Right? Or is it just me?
I have its bigger brother EX3203R, its amazing. Expensive but amazing! Mine does have verticle adjustment though . 😀
VA panels....
But it cost more that the ASUS 27" TUF Gaming VG27AQ IPS 165 Hz and that is a 1MS instad of 5MS and also can use the backlight strobe at the same time as adaptive sync.
349 on Amazon right now
Lol , I got this free review monitor but it’s gonna be my unbiased opinion even though there was no money lost on my behalf , okay buddy lol

from $ 550 down, and i hoppe you can helpme.......i want this monitor for all purpose.....gaming, edition, i I like the idea that my pc is all-terrain
Every monitor manufacturer lies about response time. Lg has a for example has a nano ips monitor with 1ms advertised response time when it is more like 7ms. This is also iirc more like 7ms. All the manufacturers lie, benq just lied a little bit less so now it sticks out like a sore thumb
True, every time a manufacturer claims that their monitors do 1ms, I always add 4~5 ms more. Not that is noticeable ofc, even professional gamers barely notice why would the average joe? Unfortunately, monitor manufacturers brand it as faster because they know in most situations it's the deciding factor.
@@Nersify yes. Benq isn't lying as much so it looks bad. Shame really that reviewers are noting that as a con now. BenQ probably hoped they would mention response times being faked so that reviewers could just spread the word
Sorry to say but Backlight Bleeding is just not acceptable for 600$ in 27inch. I had those problems with my LG 34 Inch and ended selling it because if you know it and play in a low light situation you just WILL notice it. Maybe it's just me.
I agree that backlight bleed is a real problem. I only noticed it when I did the test though. However we are sll different, that's why I showed it. :)
Now the price is $300😂
Its a great choice...

Wanna trade a sapphire Vega 64 nitro+ (3 months old) + 100$ for a rx 5700xt?
Quite expensive
watching this with built in speakers.
I can buy this at $279
This leaves me no choice, gonna save up for this. I need 1440p for graphic designing and 144hz for great gaming xD
I'd do more research , this looks rather poor for the price actually , for gaming i'd recommend the LG 27GL850 , for your graphic design needs you need to check more options.
@@SpectreBGM is the LG one also an IPS 144hz monitor as well? Yea been searching for months now but to little choices for monitors with the specs i want 😩
@@mahikaar yes it's a nano-IPS ( new technology ) 144hz , 1440p resolution , google it and check some reviews
As far as I can tell around 15-20 people got sent this monitor from Benq at the same time for a review and maybe one of you had the balls to criticize the fact that you don't get a DP cable in the box. That's a pretty major con as a decent DP cable costs around 20-25$ where I live. I call bullshit on this and Benq deserve to be criticized for it, especially at this price point. Not to mention that MSI, LG, Samsung (and others) ship their monitors with a DP cable.
first! love your content
That's awesome! 😁
Brands should stop categorizing their monitors as HDR, any monitor that is under 800~1000 nits simply isn't HDR. Someone that isn't knowledgeable or comfortable with these technical stuff are being allured and paying the price for something that isn't there. This always make me cringe. Aside of that, this monitor isn't bad but is pricy for what it does.
Well it goes based on certification. So this does have the lowest tier (which I assume they intentionally barely achieve) but they throw some BenQ software improvements to HDR as well so I guess there’s something on top of the base HDR. at 400$ on Black Friday it comes with more than most at that price

Yeah, usually love your content but this just seems kinda not genuine to me.. Dawid I know would rip this monitor to shreds.
That was a poor and misleading review. Spends half the video talking about the physical properties that you can google in 2 seconds, outside aesthetics, audio, and his brother's opinion(?) instead of the performance of the monitor worth £465 at current. Has no comparison between other monitors and how this monitors performs better in specific category. Admits to not doing any real performance tests just based review on his own perception....Looking at the customer reviews on amazon shows this monitor has light bleeding, poor image quality, poor colour banding and most importantly very bad motion blur for its price (important for fps games which he is playing). You can get the current e-sports standard performance monitor BenQ ZOWIE XL2546 for this price, or a much better IPS monitor for colour and image quality. This guy would be happy with a £200 monitor based on his review and experience and as a casual gamer which is who this monitor would be for.
You know nothing
dude what?? he’s doing this from a typical gamers perspective, this isn’t going to be a review using professional tools and such. which is why it literally says gaming in the title…

Cons to this monitor (I have it and have used it for a little over a week still using it)
No range of motion only tilt. (no pivot, no swivel, no height adjustment) with the stand from the table to bottom of the monitor is 3.25"
Scroll wheel for volume doesn't register if you scroll too fast. The speakers are mehhhh.. not terrible but not great by any means
NO DISPLAY PORT CABLE... If you're going to sell a monitor at $600msrp with 144hz refresh rate I expect a damn DP cable..
